Macs version of Microsoft word?

what is macs version of microsoft word?

This is what I had to do in order to read a Word .doc created in VISTA with a .docx label.
I opened the .docx file with Stuffit Expander. I then went to the Word folder and opened the resulting document.xml file with Dreamweaver, copied the code, created a new html page, pasted the code and was able to read the text in the resulting "Design" view.
Hopefully there will be an update for Microsoft Word:mac to open this in an easier way.

  • Can you open with Pages documents that were created in a 2004 version of Microsoft word for Mac?

Can you open in Pages documents that were created in a 2004 version of Microsoft Word for Mac?

Pages '09 will open .doc files from Word 2004. The Mac OS is not what is in question. Pages '09 opens Word 2004 documents and if the same version of Pages will run in Lion and in Mountain Lion ..... Thats all that matters.
I trust you were using MS Office 2004 and would now like to buy Pages?

You mean for Office apps? That, I don't know for sure as I don't use MS Office on my Mac. I would check to see if there is some sort of MS Office uninstaller that needs to be run before dragging the icons to Trash. Either from one of the Office apps Help or About or search the Internet for a solution.
EDIT: A quick Google search found this link which may help you.

  • Old Versions of Microsoft Word

Does anyone know where I can get really old versions of Microsoft Word? I would need either Word 4.0 on a floppy disk, or something right after it that would still access documents in Word 4.0, or someplace online where I could download the software. I could then transfer it to floppy disk and print from a very old Mac, or at least be able to open the documents in formatted form on a new one. Thanks.

You may be able to open Word v4 files using these apps.
WordPerfect is a word processing application. At the height of its popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was the de facto standard word processor, but has since been eclipsed in sales by Microsoft Word. WordPerfect version 3.5e for Mac has been made freeware by Corel, and can be downloaded here http://main.system7today.com/software/wordperfect/wordperfect.html . It is a great, free alternative to Microsoft Word!

You can only award once to a single post. You can, for example, reward this post as Helpful or Correct, but you cannot give more than one award to a post.
You can award Helpful twice - either to two posts by the same responder or one reward to each of two different responders. A Correct award can only be made once. It also designates the topic as officially solved, so you don't want to use it if your topic has not been solved yet.
You cannot reward yourself. If you do then you simply use up your awards allocations for the topic. The board software will simply ignore any awards you give yourself. If you have found a solution to your problem on your own elsewhere, then you can award yourself the Correct award. It doesn't give points to anyone but will signify the topic as solved. You can be helpful to others when you find your own solution to post what that solution was so others who read the topic may be helped.

  • How to vertical select a text in iWord.  Like we do in Mac version of MS Word by Command Option [and selecting]

How to vertical select a text in iWord.  Like we do in Mac version of MS Word by Command Option [and selecting]

    m0thr4 wrote:
I want to make sure all text in my document is a particular font (at least), but Cmd+a only selects any text that is not in a table. There seems to be no way to include text in tables, or even a way to change the format of all text in a particular table (MS Word allows the whole table to be highlighted for example).
A double click in a cell selects it so you may enter what you wish in it.
Select the cell A1 then, pressing the shift key, click in the right-bottom cell.
Doing that you will get every table's cells selected which gives the ability to apply global attributes.
I've searched the built-in help and found "To select all text in a document, choose Edit > Select All." This does not work as tables are excluded from this selection. If tried some of the other suggestions, such as holding down shift while selecting text in tables, but as soon as I get to the end of the text in one cell, the selection disappears.
My guess is that some words are missing in the Help. Select All selects all the text … of the text layer.
We must apply the settings to the text layer, to each text box, to each table.
Of course, you may _Go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu_, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait _at least_ for iWork'09

  • RH9, 32-bit Word 10, "A supported version of Microsoft Word does not exist."

I upgraded to RH9 to try to get past this problem, but I'm still getting the error.
    Printed Documentation
A supported version of Microsoft Word does not exist. Please install Microsoft Word 2000 or newer.
    OK

My bad, I didn't realize that upgrading to TCS 3.5 didn't remove RoboHelp 8.

  • "A supported version of Microsoft Word does not exist. Please install Microsoft Word 2000 or newer."

I am a new RoboHelp user und I want to import content written with Word 2013 into RoboHelp.
I'm using RH HTML 9.0.2 and MS Word 2013 (Office 2013) on a Windows 7 professional computer.
When I try to import a Word-Document (I downloaded and used the example document from Peter Grainge and also tried other Word-documents) I get the following message:
"A supported version of Microsoft Word does not exist. Please install Microsoft Word 2000 or newer."
    What can I do?

The error message is wrong as regards the version you need to install. It should state that you need a compatible version and the latest is Office 2010. Even Rh10 does not support Office 2013.
There is a workaround when generating printed documentation but not when importing. You need to install Word 2010 which can co-exist with Word 2013 if you want to retain that for other purposes. Before using Rh to import, run Word 2010 first.
To generate printed documentation using Word 2013, right click Properties in the layout, it works from there.

  • The Import Word Document Wizard cannot locate a supported version of Microsoft Word

    Hello guys,
I'm currently evaluating RoboHelp HTML 8.0.2.208. I'd like to import an existing Word document to a fresh new RoboHelp project. Unfortunately, everytime I've got the message below:
"The Import Word Document Wizard cannot locate a supported version of Microsoft Word"
"Please install Microsoft Word 2000 or newer."
I tried with several Word 2003 and Word 2010 documents but with no success.
    Could someone help me?
    Thans by advance

    Hi there
I think it would probably be safe to assume that the next version will support Office 2010. I think logic alone can tell us that much.
The larger question would be to ask when that next version is likely to appear. And my own purely unscientific speculation will be to hold the envelope to my head like the great Johnny Carson did. I proclaim we will see a new version appear some time in 2011. As to whether that will be early or late 2011, only Adobe can actually say for certain. Or even if a version will appear during that year!
    Cheers... Rick

  • Whenever I Start my Mac up, Mail, Microsoft word and Powerpoint open up.How do I stop this?

Whenever I turn my MacBook Air on, Mail opens, then Microsoft Word and Powerpoint. It's really annoying. I have checked in 'system preferences, log in items' although there is nothing listed there, but it happens everytime?

It's the Resume feature of Lion:
Managing Mac OS X Lion's application resume feature.
If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.

  • My 2004 version of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel aren't compatible with Lion.  What are the alternatives?

Do I upgrade my Microsoft Office Suite or purchase the latest iWork?  Wish I hadn't switched to Lion.

Yes, unfortunately the Lion installer doesn't forewarn you that this will happen and unless you're a total Mac-head who keeps up with the Apple news, you may not have been aware of it.
You have the option of going back to Snow Leopard, or going with one of the options suggested by Niel.
I wouldn't myself recommend iWork, mainly because it now comes with Lion's new Autosave/Versions feature, which is a whole new nightmare on its own. Luckily (for me) I have an old version of iWork that doesn't save anything unless I tell it to.
But I'm personally very happy with Office 2008, which I think is better than Office 2011. So it isn't only Apple that releases new versions of things that are worse than the previous version (which is what I think of Lion).
I went back to Snow because at the moment Lion isn't helping me get my work done - it's strewing obstacles in my path.
If you get Office 2008 it will run on both Snow Leopard and Lion.

  • Apples version of Microsoft Word and Excel

I have just converted to a iMac from Windows but I didnt buy office as I was told Apple do the equivalent which are cheaper and just as good, I wanted to know those who have bought the Apple versions of Excel and Word, which Apps are the best to buy?
    Thanks!

Did you apply a recent 10.6.8 security update? If so, Apple has recognized that the recent security update was flawed and released a new one to fix this issue.

  • Live links in PDFs generated from Microsoft Word 2008?

A couple of years ago, I was informed that my live links (bookmarks, indexmarks, etc.) in documents generated by Microsoft Word 2004 for the Macintosh did not become PDF live links in Acrobat Standard 7 because the Mac version from Microsoft Word 2004 didn't use the necessary hooks (
    i "APIs"
or something like that) even though the Windows version did.
Now that MS Word/MS Office 2008 for the Mac is coming out, will we be able to generate PDFs with such live links.
Any input will be most appreciated.
Acrobat Standard 7.0.9. Tiger 10.4.11. Dual bootable, DP MDD 1.25GHz G4 (2004), maxed out at 2GB of RAM, both Spotlight and Dashboard disabled, Photoshop primary scratch disk on dedicated 160GB internal drive, at least 100GB available on each of the four internal drives, up to 300GB on some. Counting external FW drives just over 1TB of drive space available. nVidia GeForce 7800 GS 425MHz 256 MB graphics display card. Processor napping enabled through CHUD 3.5.2.

While this does not answer the problem of live links. (You can create them Manually, they just are not generated direct from Office Mac).
The answer to the other question of the little annoying PDFMaker Menu (that never really worked correctly for me (took 5 minutes just to generate a 108K PDF).
Because MicroSoft took out VBA Support on Mac side That rendered the PDFMaker menu useless because it uses VBA to work.
So what they have done in Word 2008 is actually put it as Translator choice on the save menu. They now directly can save Word Files directly as PDF files. once you have created your file and saved it. Then go again to *Save As....* , when menu open scroll mouse down until you run across the choice PDF. select that and save. not only is it easier a 108K document can be saved in about 15 seconds or less not the old 5 minutes going through PDFMaker.
One of PDFMaker's failings was that each step of conversion it called up Distiller which first created a .PS file. Then it checked the file. Then created the PDF file. Then checked the file again before actually writing the PDF File. Then only after checking the written PDF, would it delete the invisible PS file. Finally the PDF file was created. Naturally with all the check steps if you have a very large file could take ages.
With word's new feature (2008) you can generate a PDF at blinding speeds.
