MACSEC between 3850 and 4500-X (manual switch-switch mode)

Hi all
As per post title, a couple of questions:
1) Will MACSec encryption work between the above switches (using 1Gig port on the 3850 and a 1Gig SFP on the 4500-X)?
2) If so, what versions of software are required, and what is the minimum feature set (IP Base?)
3) Any special modules required like 3750X?
4) Will Etherchannel work with the above?
5) Bonus question: will the above run over 2 EoMPLS carrier provided services?

Plug your speakers into the soundcard as usual.
use the front mounted headphone socket on the fromt of the X-Fi I/O unit to connect your headset and set the control panel to automatically mute your speakers when the headset is connected. Your speakers will mute when the headset is plugged in and all you have to do is plug or unplug the headset at the front to switch modes!...Now please do not ask about doing the same with your mike connector!! see other thread by me!! p.s creative do ship a /4" to 3.5mmm adapter with the card.

There is not much difference between MSFC1 and MSFC2, the main difference is how the MSFCs send the hardware programming to the PFC. The MSFC1 uses MLS to program the hardware by using the first packet of the traffic. While the MSFC2 uses CEF-based MLS to program the PFC so that the supervisor can make the hardware switching of the packet. NOtice the difference if the MSFC1 needs to see the first packet while the MSFC2, in theory will not need to see a first packet as it uses the CEF routing table to program the PFC2. Now, the kicker, if MSFC2 in sup1A , all this CEF-based MLS is not used since it needs PFC2 to be able to do this. Sup1A does not come with PFC2 only Sup2 comes with PFC2. The MSFCs gives the Cat6K a L3 ability and it's important but the switching performance of the switch depends on the PFC.

NAC OOB and 6500 in Virtual Switch Mode

Is there any issue or special care to implement NAC OOB in Central Deploy, VGW, using AD SSO for wired clients where the Core Switch is a pair of 6500 in Virtual Switch Mode?
The customer uses Radius IAS for authentication. How does it fit with the AD SSO?

I am afraid there are some arguments missing in your db command.
To manually add the OID of Cat4507R+E to CAM's database here is the procedure to do this.

Unable to fully form trunks between 3850 and 4503-E switches

Hi all,
This last weekend I tried to replace a stack of 3750G's with a stack of new 3850's.
The stack of switches has 2 fibre uplinks to the core switches (4503-E).
It didn't go well, and I had to revert the project.
The stack was all pre-configured in the workshop but could not be tested on the live LAN. When I connected it , I first connected up 1 of the 2 uplinks. The link went to UP status, and I could see the remote core switch via CDP, but it would not learn the VLANs (VTP was setup correctly), and looking at the port on the switch, it flashed green, went solid green, then flashed amber slowly. This cycled continuously, whilst the link status remained up and no errors were logged by either switch.
I debugged spanning-tree but nothing stood out. I tried a replacement SFP, and a different slot but no difference.
I re-connected one of the old 3750's and immediately the link came up stable, and everything was fine.
I then erased the config on the new stack, and simply set the fibre port as trunk, with udld enabled (matching the remote end) (neither switch supports ISL, so the trunk is dot1q). The same issue persisted.
Last night I spent a few hours in the office investigating. I grabbed a spare 3560G from the store, configured a fibre port as a trunk, and connected this to the 3850's, and this worked fine. I then provisioned a new fibre port on the core 4503-E and connected this up using brand new fibre tails, but had exactly the same issues as described above.
The switches were running cat3k_caa-iosd-universalk9.SPA.150-1.EX3, and I have upgraded them to cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.03.01.SE.150-1.EZ1.bin as part of my troubleshooting but this has not made a difference.
Does anyone have any advice? I am starting to wish I spec'd 3750X's instead!!

Connectivity between 3850 and wireless radio controller

We are connecting a remote warehouse to corporate office through wireless radio controllers. we connected corporate office controller to a 3750 and configured the port as trunk. we connected the remote controller to a new 3850 switch. we are unable to ping radio controllers or switches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recent firedfox update immedately cause break in connection between computer and printer

about 2 weeks ago Firefox offered an update. I clicked to start this. right after the printer failed to respond to the computer and a message said: check cables (done) restart computer(done) check firewall - I don't know how to do this. I have a McAfee contract.
Could this update have caused the problem? was this update offer legitimate or a virus?

i cant switch between vc7,8,9...only between 1 and 7.
when i switch to vc8 or 9 only comes nothing but a blank black screen.
there is no problem on vc1 to vc6, login screen works there.
gdmflexiserver command doesnt works, same blank black screen.
but when X is not in work all virtual consoles works without problem.
ive searched everywhere for this problem but nothing works.people have recommend same things; gdmflexiserver etc.
i think it is a problem with X server, maybe a bug of this version.Mine is xorg-server 1.5.3-4.

SAN Port Channel between 6120 and Brocade

Has anyone setup or know how to setup a SAN Port Channel between 6120s and a Brocade FC switch? I know that it requires UCS firmware 1.4 but I don't know what the Brocade requirements are.

The SAN port channel is Cisco proprietory. You cannot setup SAN port channel with Brocade. Sorry

X-fi, Will not switch modes unless reb

This happens to me occasionally. I will close ALL applications and then try to switch modes and its says I have an audio application open or the device is in use. Anyone experienced this and know a solution?

Some application of yours may not have ended properly and thus could still be running in the background process and holding on to the sound device. You can access Windows Task Manager and check the processes that are still running and end it.

Is there an easy way to switch between ehternet and wifi connection without having to disconnect the ethernet cable?

Hi All
Was wondering if there is an easy way to switch between ethernet and wifi connection on Apple TV without having to disconnect the ethernet cable. The reason I ask is that I find it quicker to use my ethernet connection via a Netgear Powerline Home Theatre Set-up to stream Trailers and Movies on the Apple TV, however this is no good when connecting directly to my Mac to stream music or TV shows in iTunes, so revert to the wifi connection that I created on my Time Capsule to do this.
Would be handy if Apple TV had a menu option where you could manually change the connection type depending on what you were doing, as per above scenario.

Switch between speakers and headset on X-

I've got X-Fi Fatalty FPS edition and desperately need to find a way to switch between headset and speakers. Especially since I use teamspeak a lot in games and don't want my speakers to echo while I'm talking.
There is an option to mute speakers when the headphone jack is connected, but that requires me to reconnect the headphone plug each time I want to use them.
There must be a switch to turn only the speakers off manually as well?
With Soundblaster Li've! Digital, this problem was easily solved by switching between digital mode on and off, as my speakers were connected digitally and my headset on analog.
But with X-Fi, there's no way to turn off the digital speakers alone.

How to switch progamatically between line and symbol plot ?

I am trying to switch between symbol and line plot (XY-graph) programatically. (I know jow to do it on the front panel.) I thought I could do it through property nodes, but there is no PlotType property node, only PointType, LineType, and LineWidth. If I set LineWidth and LineStyle to zero I get a continous line connecting my symbols. If I set LineWidth to zero and LineStyle to 1, althoug, the Legend shows only symbols I get a dashed line connecting the symbols. Also, is somewhere a desciption what the LineType and PointType codes mean?

When you right click on a plot legend and select 'Common Plots', there are several plot properties that get changed. There is no single property to change between the different option. I would recomend that you place a property node on you block diagram and select Plot.Point Style, Plot.Line Style,Plot.Line Width, Plot.Plot Interpolation, and Plot.Plot Fill To and create indicators for each. Then manually change the Common PLots setting and take note of the diffferences. There is help for each of the properties and the help will refer you to the front panel menu options. For example, the help for Point Sytle says that the values are 0-16 as shown on the menu from top-left to bottom-right.

Does switching between PPPoE and DHCP cause complications?

I've been trying to help a colleague with a MacBook Pro sort out wireless networking issues. At her desk, she connects by Ethernet to her DSL modem, which uses PPPoE. When roaming her office she uses a Linksys Wireless N modem, which serves up IP addresses via DHCP (and is connected to a second modem elsewhere on the premises). There seems to be no simple way of switching between the wireless and the wired connection: when I unplug the Ethernet cable, even though there's a wireless signal, there's no Internet connectivity. And when I plug the Ethernet back in, I have to go into System Preferences and reselect Ethernet manually and confirm all the settings before it'll connect. I tried creating locations but this didn't seem to have any effect.
I'm reading a lot of posts that suggest the MacBook Pros have wireless networking difficulties. Is this an inherent problem, then, that we're dealing with or might it have to do with the conflicting protocols?
Any insights would be much appreciated.

Absolutely. Just change the sim card and the APN details in the settings. You can do this either manually if you know them or just sync with iTunes after changing the sim and the details will sync. Once you have done it once for each network the device seems to remember the details.
