Made an iSight video of iWeb08 for YouTube

I just used my iSight cam to make a video file of my screen of all the screw-ups of iWeb08 of how my photo pages won't display and all the errors and corrupted web pages caused by the bugs of iWeb08. Soon to be published on YouTube!
This should help Apple fix the problem or at least get the word out.

I don't understand your question.
Where is it and your "video"?

  • Tiny video TOO BIG for YouTube?

I'm sorry--I searched for "compress video" and got no results--so--
I have a very short (1.09 minute) video I want to upload to YouTube. It is 122 MB. YouTube has a 100 MB maximum capacity. I've seen 10 minute videos on YouTube, yet my tiny 1 minute video is too big. How do I make it smaller so it will upload? I'm so sorry if this has been discussed before, but I get no help for this on my Mac Help section--thank you!

If you have Quicktime Pro you can export it and reduce the size. Or use VisualHub in its demo mode (2 minutes max) to covert to a smaller format and size. It works quite good.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I used a GarageBand loop in a video I made for youtube. I want to submit this video for revenue. First, is this legal? Second, youtube requires written permission to use songs, and provides a comment box for proof of permission. What do I put in this box to prove It's ok for me to make ad revenue from my video?

Yes, you can use GarageBand loops for commercial purposes. Here's the Apple Doc:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2931
(Basically the only thing it excludes is to re-distribute the loops as loops.)
I don't know about the YouTube form, maybe you just fill in "Apple Loops", they certainly have come across this before.

I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning were corrupted on youtube. I tried a different photo, and the corruption took place at the same moment of the video. How do I prepare the video for export to get it ready for youtube? I wasn't sure whether to clik web or web streaming. Am I supposed to clik Quick Time after I clik Share?

I unfortunately cannot remember where I got the 'trrndlines' plugin... I assume that it must have been from CFX (as it is located under /Users/Dom/Library/iMovie/Plug-ins/cfx/XXXtrrndlines.bundle).
As for what it does, I also do not know, as I do not think I ever used it in my previous video projects.
At this stage, I think I just need to uninstall it so that iMovie doesnt try to use it.
Do you know how to uninstall a CFX plugin in iMovie?
NOTE: I have re-installed iMovie 6.0.4 (instead of iMovie 6.0.3), but still encounter the same issue.

  • How to make a video for YouTube

Does anyone know how to make a short video on a Macbook, to put on YouTube?

For direct recording into YouTube or other Flash based video web sites, use Flash Settings to select between available microphones and cameras.
If you uneed help, see Adobe's microphone suppport info at http://tinyurl.com/3e5cnl  Adobe Help for selecting your webcam is here: http://tinyurl.com/4pswu9
Only external (Firewire) iSight (out of production for several years) has a built-in microphone.  If your Mac has a built-in iSight, it also has a separate, built-in, USB Mic.
Either kind of microphone can be selected in your  > System Preferences > Sound > Input settings.
If you want to use an external iSight with a Mac that also has a USB mic for some purpose other than recording directly into YouTube or another Flash based web site, you can usually select which mic to use depending on your desired purpose.
Many apps that can recognize multiple microphones allow you to select which micriphone either via a menu choice or the app's speparate Preferences... settings.  As one example, here is how to select a mic in QuickTimeX:
Each app works its own way, and some apps can only access the curreent System Preference setting.
A side note for other readers who are using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.x:  Neither FaceTime Version 1.1 (258) from OS X 10.7.1 nor the current Version 1.1.1 (262) from OS X 10.7.2 can use external iSight's Firewire mic.   The firewire camera works, but the Fireiwire mic is not available for selection in FaceTime > Video.

  • My video playback out...every video shakes/flashes/doesn't play right. What's wrong? I thought the hard drive was too full, but I just deleted 125gigs, rebooted and it still flashes and doesn't play videos. This is true for youtube, ads, foxnews videos...

My video playback out...every video shakes/flashes/doesn't play right. What's wrong? I thought the hard drive was too full, but I just deleted 125gigs, rebooted and it still flashes and doesn't play videos. This is true for youtube, ads, foxnews videos...

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
    Is there an easier way?

  • I need help with exporting 720p video for youtube.

Hi everyone, I have been using Adobe premeir for almost a year now and I love it, as its very professional and powerful. I used to edit Standard with no problem, then export the full unconverted file (wmv) and run it though Windows Movie Maker to compress it (haha yeah I know its crazy.) Now that I got a camera capable of shooting HDV I want to use it. Im just wondering the following:
1.What format should I export with in Adobe Media Encoder? (Original Raw footage files from Camera are MOV formatted)
2.What should I set the Bitrate to?
3.How do I export to flash without it being to large of a file (Under 200mb's for a 5 minute video) and have it not choppy or pixelated?
4.How do I speed up exporting, how many passes should I do?
5.What overall is the best setup for youtube?
I also noticed a small glitch, and its when I export normally (full size, no compression) and run it though a compressor it cuts out all of the titles, and just flashes them for a milisecond. Its really odd. It only happens when I export in a certain format in which I cannot quite remember. Anyways.. thanks in advance for helping me. Its very appreciated.

perform a search using the term export for web and it should throw up some ideas.
    here's one for starters:

If you're using flip4mac to convert to wmv, the trial stops at 30 seconds - you need at least wmvstudio to export to wmv:

  • I just bought the new 2014 Mac Mini 2.6 8Gig for $699 at the Apple Store Online. I want to use it for light editing in iMovie making video's for YouTube, I couldn't afford the higher priced models. Is this going to work for me? I hope so..

Will this do basic video editing for YouTube Video's in iMovie, I hope so.  It's all I could afford.
Just under $800 with tax and Applecare.
    It's stock 2.6 8gigs 1 terabyte hard drive.
I have two monitors DVI that I plan to hook to it.
I know it's weak but will it get me going without too much hardship.
I want to grow into the more high priced computers and Final Cut Pro later on.
I know I will need a bigger computer then.
    Thanks

There are many people using the basic (i5) 2012 MacMini and even older ones to edit complex films in FCP X so you should have no problems.
I have been using FCP 7 and FCP X since they came out on my 2008 iMac Core 2 Duo and am thinking of getting the same model as you rather than pay the astronomic price for a new 27" iMac.
The performance won't be quite as fast but it will be at least 4 times faster at rendering than my old iMac.

  • Download and import YouTube videos to iMovie for  editing

Download and import YouTube videos to iMovie for editing
YouTube always provides people with raw video materials on all sorts of things happened worldwide in real time. Video lovers are fond of downloading these files as private collection, even using video editors like iMovie to do further editing of their favorite ones, so as to import them to portable devices like iPod, iPhone, PSP, Blackberry, etc. for playback, or upload to their own websites to share with others, or do something else as they like.
However, not all the people have found a proper way to download YouTube videos, not to mention how to add these files to iMovie for editing. YouTube videos are in the format of FLV, which is not a workable format in iMovie, so if you want to import YouTube videos to it without trouble, you should convert FLV files to iMovie compatible formats such as MPEG-4 and MOV in advance. With the special intention of solving these two problems, this guide will show you how to download YouTube videos and import them to iMovie for editing step by step. If you are in need, just feel free to go along with it.
Step 1: Download, install and run Pavtube YouTube Converter for Mac
This converter can process downloading and conversion simultaneously. Once you launch it, the interface below well pop up.
Step 2: Add URL, select output format and set save path
Press tag “Add URL” in the above interface, and then the following window will appear. Just copy and paste the URL of the YouTube video file which you want to download and convert to the text box after “URL”. Then select a supportable format for iMovie by clicking the drop-down list of “Convert To”. Here I choose MOV for example.
Afterwards, you can insert the storage file name in the text box of “Save As”, if not, the program will generate one automatically. Here I save my file as “mycollection”. Meanwhile, you are allowed to hit “Browse” in the opposite side of “Save To” to specify the destination folder. By the way, if you want to save the original FLV files, you are allowed to tick the checkbox “Save FLV File” to achieve this goal.
    Step 3: Custom
This program enables you to adjust video and audio parameters like codec, bit rate, aspect ratio, frame rate, sample rate, and channels, so that you can change them randomly according to your own demands. Generally speaking, the options which refer to values are always in condition of the larger values, the larger file size, but better quality. Do remember click “OK” to save your custom settings.
    Step 4: Download and convert
Once all the settings are done, you can click “OK” button to start. The following window will show you the progress of downloading and conversion.
Step 5: Import the output MOV files to iMovie
As soon as the YouTube video files have been downloaded and converted to MOV or other iMovie workable format, you can click “Open” at lower right corner of the above interface to find out the output files. Afterwards, launch iMovie, and click File > Import to add the output files to iMovie for editing.
    Tips:
    1. This program supports batch tasks so that you can download multiple YouTube video files in batches at a time.
    2. Pavtube YouTube Converter for Mac adopts multi-threading technology, which makes its download speed is faster than any other similar YouTube downloader.
    3. Besides YouTube.com, it can also automatically detect and download online videos in the format of .flv, and f4v from many other video-sharing websites, like Yahoo Video, Myspace, Google Video, Fox and more.
    4. It also provides users with conversion function, with which you can convert any YouTube FLV/F4V files to other formats like MP4, MKA, WAV, AC3, MKV, FLV, MP3, M4A, 3GP, AVI, MOV, MPG, etc. at will.
    5. If you only use it as a YouTube downloader without format conversion, you can take it as a piece of freeware.
All right, this guide is ending up now; hope it will do you a favor while downloading video files from YouTube as well as importing them to iMovie for further editing.

It's a clip from CNN (with all credits etc. added). When one refers to it as a clip posted on "YouTube", then people understand the quality will be poor.
I've watched television go from everything shot on a tripod with clean, meticulous editing rules, to almost anything goes. It has to do with cultural reference.

  • What is the best way to record a video(not big) for free on a mac w/isight?

What is the best way to record a video(not big) for free on a mac w/isight? I need to just make a short (less than 5 minute, no special effects) video, but I can't figure out any programs that will make this possible for me.
    Thanks.

    Hi Carolyn,
you can use iMovie to record a video for free on a Mac with iSight.
    1. Open iMovie HD
    2. Choose “Create a new project”
    3. Name the project for example “iSight Movie” (first field). In the second field, let the default location “Sequences”, in the third one, video format, choose “iSight”. Push “Create”
    4. iMovie window opens, next to the scissors, choose the camera (Camera mode), then iSight. Now you appear on the screen, right?
    5. Press “Record with iSight” in the main picture window.
    6. Press the same button to stop. Your new clip appears now in the clip panel at the right.
    7. You are done!

  • Output file size restrictions - HD Video for YouTube

For over a year YouTube has removed restrictions on file sizes for individuals that want to do so.  The preset output in Premier Elements 11 for "Online - HD Video for YouTube 1920X1080" will not allow a video longer than 15 minutes.  I need to remove this restriction and be able to produce files to upload to YouTube without file size restrictions.  How can I do this?

    TheBanjoNut
You cannot. And, Premiere Elements 12 has the same YouTube limitations as 11.
You need to export your Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive, and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
At YouTube, you would need to explore the opportunities that it offers in the way of "extended times". It may require special accounts.
Without further details of your Premiere Elements project preset and the properties of your source media, I would generalize and suggest that you look at the follow choices for creating this file for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site...
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets =
    MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30
    or
YouTube Widescreen HD (changing the settings under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the preset)
Please review. If you have any further questions on this, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • Why is youtube video so choppy for me?

    Hi,
I have an old PC (PIII, 500mhz, 384 RAM), but it's been fine.  Watching videos on youtube never was a problem.  I've noticed, however, that the video for youtube has become VERY choppy for me over the past year.  I had to rebuild my HD and I thought that would take care of the problem, but it didn't.
I have a decent video card with the latest drivers.  When I installed Adobe Flash 10, I could see the flash intro video working fine.  But playback with youtube doesn't work for any video.  Is there a simple explanation for this?  Is Adobe 10 simply too intensive for my PC?
Thanks for any replies out there.  My settings indicate that I'm employing h/w acceleration.
