Mail APPLESCRIPT to help run a website.

Cross-post from EMAIL forum:
I get several hundred emailed press releases each day.
I would like an applescript to:
go into an IMAP mailbox (account "NEWMAIL" box "SORTED")
select the top 2 messages
move them to INBOX
wait 10 seconds
Open a web script (HTTP://WWW.MYSITE.COM/SCRIPT.PHP)
Wait 30 seconds
repeat.
I have NO IDEA where to start, other than open up applescript editor.

I have the following code which I have used to refresh every 45 seconds, up to 99 times.
I would like to modify it to also stop the script when the page returns the text "There is no more mail"
Is it possible?
----CODE:
repeat while _count ≤ 99
tell application "Safari"
open location _url
activate
end tell
set _count to _count + 1
delay (45) -- end repeat
-----end code
Again, I would also like to end if the text in the page is "There is no more mail"

  • Applescript run from Mail rule does not run

I am attempting to run an Applescript from a Mail rule. Basically, the Applescript does not run.
Stripped to the bare essentials, the following script runs fine when Applying a rule in Mail:
    say "Hello"
    as well as this one:
    say "Hello"
    using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theMessages for rule theRule
    tell application "Mail"
-- statements to process each message in theMessages
    end tell
end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from
But, when I remove the comments from the block lifted verbatim from the Applescript manual:
    say "Hello"
    using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theMessages for rule theRule
    tell application "Mail"
-- statements to process each message in theMessages
    end tell
end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from
the script does not even say Hello.
I am trying to go as far as having the Applescript create a new ToDo based on specific incoming emails, but I can't get any but the simplest Applescript to run.
    Can anyone help me?
    Tom

The script works just fine - at least, as designed if not as expected.
When the script runs, Mail and/or AppleScript looks for a perform mail action handler. If that is found, the commands within are executed.
If there is no perform mail action handler then the script is run as-is (i.e. as if you clicked 'Run' in AppleScript Editor).
And that's exactly what's happening here. In the first case (that works) the script is running because there's no (visible) perform mail action handler.
In the second case where it apparently doesn't work, there is a handler, so that handler is being executed. Any code outside that handler is ignored (unless it's called from within the perform mail action handler.
Since your 'say' command is outside the handler, it is ignored. However, if you move it inside the perform mail action handler you'll hear your speech.

The mailbox list is divided into categories with headings in caps, such as ON MY MAC. When you hover the cursor over one of those headings (except for MAILBOXES), you should see the word Show or Hide on the right. Click Show. The  MAILBOXES category can't be hidden.
In each category, the mailboxes are arranged in groups, such as Inbox. To the left of each group is a small disclosure triangle. If the triangle points to the right, click it so that it points down.

  • Final Cut Server Download + Running public website

Hi all. I need help with my FCS set-up. We are a small non profit that uses our FCS to track our production assetts. We are running on a mac mini server. Right now we can download the installer and the FCS is up and running properly. But now we want to also run our website on our server, and we want to still have the ability to download the FCS client.
Any watch-outs or tips in doing this?

I agree with the Mac Mini being underpowered.. But sometimes you have to do what you have to do... With regards to both FCS and your website running on the same machine.. NO problem. The web server root is /Library/WebServer/Documents/ that is where the index.html goes and that is what will be served to web browsers when they connect too you server @ http://www.foo.com and the will still be able to get to you FCS @ http://www.foo.com/finalcutserver

It's a disgraceful failure of any customer service by BT.  Had my Btinternet email account since they launched backin ... was it 1997?  Everything digital in my life is spidered into the account now.  Its been used as my registration point for virtually everything for the past fifteen years.  And now getting less than 30 days notice to try and find every single product and website I have registered with and then change all my details?!?!?  Hell, I'd need about a year to do so; and then I would still probably have missed some!  By their actions, they potentially cutting me off from products that I have purchased & tied to this email address.
Add to that the fact that their email that comes into your inbox sources from some dodgy 'analytics planning' website, as all the links route through there... I had serious doubts as to its legitimacy and forwarded it to their abuse contact & opened a case regarding it.  Highly unprofessional of them - especially when you consider that we are repeatedly advised by BT to never click on links unless we are sure of their validity.  And should never, ever, enter our account details on any other site other than theirs.
Shoddy BT, very very shoddy.  I would expect a higher standard of business from such a company.  And would definitely expect a proper notification click through to come up regarding this service change when I log into email.  I would say a good proportion of their users will deregard the email as a phishing attempt.  **bleep** cowboy operation.

According to the AT&T Wireless web site, you can manage your iPad data plan either from the iPad, or by using a web browser:
    From the website
Log in to your account at att.com/iPadlanding using the email address and password you used during activation.
Your account information will display. Select the desired account change option then tap Next.
Read the Terms of Service, and then tap Accept.
Review the Payment Summary to ensure the details are correct. Use the Back button if changes are required, otherwise tap Submit.
Read the Confirmation message then tap OK.

Just FYI: mailbfr does not rotate any logs. Also, there is no way this can have anything to do with DHCP not running anymore.
The output you posted seems incomplete.
As a first step, I would check your drive for integrity. Often when several problems appear in one go, corrupt files due to drive failure are the culprit.

  • Running a website in an java applet or frame

    Hi ppl,
I was wondering if it is possible to run a website within a java applet or frame. I searched the web but cant find much information. Hope you can help me.
    Thanks

I assume you mean to display web pages, like embed a browser in the application. You can use JEditorPane to display HTML pages, but it only supports HTML 3.2 and no Javascript. You can embed IE with a thing called IECanvas (have to search online for the link).
If you are doing so in an applet then there are issues with access to other sites or using things like IECanvas. So you'd need a signed applet. However, since the applet is in the browser anyway, you can always call getAppletContext().showDocument()

Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, click the '+' button below the list of accounts and insert the settings, username and password as instructed. Some account types can be set up automatically as soon as Mail knows the emails address (because the server settings are built in), in other cases you will have to get them from your ISP.

Look at all the apdiv's you have.  Those are absolutely positioned layers.  I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS.  I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.

  • Fatal: The postfix mail server is not running

After smoothly running with no changes for literally years, the Postfix process on my OS X 10.5.8 XServe refuses to run. In the system log file I see:
    Jul 14 14:26:04 nanalytics com.apple.launchd[1] (org.postfix.master[80311]): Exited: Terminated
Jul 14 14:26:04 nanalytics postfix/postfix-script[80489]: fatal: the Postfix mail system is not running
However, I'm unable to determine exactly what the problem is. There's no additional information in the log files that I've been able to find. Any suggestions as to how I should go about troubleshooting this? I've spent most of the day so far with nothing to show for it...

    Some problem here.
    Any solutions?
    Kind regards,
