Mail doesn't autofill the "to" field on replies.

Specifically, mail doesn't autofill the "to" field when I reply to one particular person.  That is, when I reply to that person's email, mail doesn't automatically fill the "to" field with that person's email.  It's only the one person's email, which is annoying.  When I type in the first 3 letters of their email address, mail recognizes this person's email as one of the autocomplete options.  Thoughts?
I already tried putting that person's email in my "contacts," but that didn't fix it.
I'm using a 2013 macbook air with snow leopard.

    I sent photos out of my IPhoto library, but they do not appear in my "Sent" folder on my GMail although that mail account was in the "From" field?

    If you're using iPhoto as your email client a sent version is not created.  You need to BCC yourself in order to get a copy.
    The better solution is to use Mail as your email client in conjunction with Gmail.  This will give you a sent copy, better access to your contacts and, if so desired, photo templates to use via Mail's stationary feature.

  • Mail doesn't share the computer

    This happens all the time in Snow Leopard and the other Leopard before it.
    I run many apps simultaneously, and I have a two-monitor set-up. The iMac is the monitor with the menu bar for the apps on it. I put MacMail on the other monitor and keep it open. I read it very often throughout the day.
    After I am finished with Mail, I click in the application on the iMac, most often InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Safari, or Word (occasionally other programs). Very often, Mail doesn't give up the floor. Even though the InDesign document comes to the front (which I can verify because the ID floating panels are in front of the Mail window on the left monitor) the Mail menubar is still active on the main iMac monitor. I click and click in the ID document, but Mail stays in charge. Then I click on the ID icon in the Dock and about half the time, Mail relinquishes control. But the other half, it doesn't. I often resort to using the Apple menu command to Hide Mail. Then I can get to ID or the other program.
    This does't happen when I switch between any other two apps--just when I want to switch away from Mail.
    Any ideas? BTW, I have the latest OS upgrade (including Mail), but as I said, I saw this in Leopard.

    There are two ways a problem happens on OSX. There's either a problem with the OS itself, which could happen, but your issue is not widely reported, and there can be old plugins or corrupted plist preference files in the user account.
    Before you decide to reinstall Leopard you might as well find out if it will do any good. Each user account has it's own startup items and preference files. A new user account will not have any plugins that the regular user account has and new preference files will be created for each program as you launch it.
    If you don't have the problem with a different user account, then we waste time looking at the OS. If you do have problems with a different user account, then we look at either trying to repair the OS, or more likely, reinstalling the OS and combo update on top of the existing version. This does not damage the user account unless you format the drive before installing SL.
    Simply put, the Mail program and services that it uses is in the system, it's preferences and settings are in the user account. Which is the problem?

  • Why in mail on my mac the to field does not look up company names

    when using Mail on my iPhone, and creating a new email, in the TO field it includes company names in search, and shows all email addresses for that company.
    but on my Mac (OSX10.8.2) Mail does not include company names in its search of email addresses, but only First & Last names.
    is there a fix for this?
    how can i fix this ?

    G B-D,
    A cluster of recent occurrences suggests that it might be a software/firmware issue. (Have you performed a firmware update recently?) However, if it were my computer, I'd want to make sure it's 100% before your window period ends.
    First, I'd try fixing the problem with the list of suggestions from the attached link. This includes every solution I've found relative to this issue.
    Second, I'd document the problem. That way you can determine then it happens, under what conditions, and how you can avoid it. For example, using a key sequences like CMD-Option-Eject should safely sleep your computer, hopefully avoiding the problem you note. Other users say that rebooting several times in a row clears thing up.
    Third, once you have your documentation, and you done several things, and there's no solution, you might think about visiting your Apple Store; it's a lot easier to carry around a MacBook, but I'm not sure what your options are.

  • New mail doesn't make the "new mail sound" when received

    Hi! I have a .mac email account, and I use two different aliases for the account. I want all the mail sent to one of the aliases to go into a designated mailbox. I've tried doing this with both a smart mailbox and using a rule to move the messages to a mailbox on my .mac account (not both at the same time, I've tried it separately both ways).
    Both of these options work, except that mail will not make the "new mail" sound when I get a new email for that mailbox. Even when I add to the rule that it should make a sound, it doesn't. Other mail (i.e., all of my other mail that is delivered normally to my inbox) is not affected--I still get the normal sound. Any ideas? Thanks! (And BTW, I always give points for helpful answers!)

    You’re welcome.
    Actually, I don’t participate here just to be helpful. I also do it to learn. I know WAY more about Mail now than I knew when I started helping people here... and without having experienced myself any of the problems I troubleshoot each and every day...
    I really wanted an answer.
    That’s precisely why you shouldn’t say in advance that you’ll give points. Nobody is going to assume you won’t, so there is no need to say you will. All you have to do is mark posts when appropriate (without saying in advance that you will). That makes everybody happy.
    don't you ever get frustrated by the number of people who don't
    mark helpful or solved answers as such?
    Not if the OP somehow lets me know whether the proposed solution worked or not. Sometimes I know for sure what the problem is and how to solve it, but others I don’t, and the user’s feedback is way more valuable to me than any points I could get.
    So yes, merely setting up a smart mailbox is enough to make Mail
    to quit making the sound.
    I’ve been unable to reproduce what you describe, but I’ve found something that could be related. Selecting an IMAP (or .Mac) mailbox causes Mail to check for changes made to that mailbox, including checking for new mail and applying rules as appropriate, just like it would do when automatically checking for mail according to your settings, except no sound is played if new mail arrived...
    Could that be what you’re observing, i.e. could it be that Mail is actually behaving as expected but it seems that it isn’t because you’re checking for new mail as a result of manually selecting the account’s Inbox or something like that?

  • Quitting Mail doesn't empty the mail trash

    Running latest version of Yosemite.  Basically, I have the mailbox behaviors set to empty the trash when quitting mail.  Problem is, it never does.  I have to manually select empty trash every time.  Any way to fix this?
    BTW, I have multiple mail accounts, all POP using the same server settings.

    Tried that, mail still sitting in the trash.  Only way it seems to empty the trash is if I manually tell it to.  BTW, this happens on two different computers running the same OS.  Both computers have multiple mail accounts (i.e. multiple email accounts on the same mail server).

  • Doesn't recognize the text field

    This is kinda weird.I am defining
    private String empid;
    empid is a text field in the main page.
    And I am checking for validity in the Form Bean using
    if (empid.equals("")) {
    errors.put("empid","Please enter a valid Employee ID");
    empid="";
    allOk=false;
         else {
    try {
    int x = Integer.parseInt(empid);
    } catch (NumberFormatException e) {
    errors.put("empid","Please enter a valid Employee ID");
    empid="";
    allOk=false;
    But the problem is it to to the retry page(gives the message Please Enter a valid ID) even when I enter the correct number.
    Why is this happening. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello and welcome to the forum,
    You could make the Submit button, which is also a way to submit the entry in the Text Entry Box, invisible by deleting the text and turn it into a Transparent button. Then put it on top of 'Search', so when the user clicks on Search he will submit his entry.

  • Mail doesn't display the full body of messages

    An example:  my bank sends me an email that I have a new bill from whoever.  The email contents display as you would expect until just after the due date for the bill, and then it's just blank.  I've tried this with Load Remote Images both off and on, with the sole difference being whether the bank logo displays or not.  The same email displays in its entirety (except for the logo) on my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro, with LRI set off (which I prefer for security reasons).  This happens a LOT with all sorts of emails, not just from the bank.  It's a total pain because I have to schlep my laptop instead of my iPad Air on trips just to get non-mangled email (and a non-crashing browser, but that's another story).  This isn't new, BTW, it's been happening on previous releases of iOS.

    Another quirk I've just noticed.  Sometimes the mail WILL display completely at first and then after I look at another mail, it changes to displaying with the body missing.  This is weird.

  • How can I autofill the "Amount" field in my eCommerce form using the "Total" from the shopping cart?

    I've found the tags to display the shopping cart summary elsewhere on the site, so I know there's a way to display the total, but I can't figure out a way to fill in the required "Amount" field in the eCommerce form used to process payments. I'd like that "Amount" field to be filled in automatically using the total in the shopping cart. Can anyone help? Thanks!

    You can use the shopping cart summary tag with custom layout.
    Here's the sample:
    <input type="text" value="{module_shoppingcartsummary template="/ModuleTemplates/Shop/cartsummary.tpl"}">
    Inside the shopping cart summary custom layout is a tag for total amount:
    {tag_currency}{tag_totalAmount} or {tag_totalAmountWithCurrency}

  • Some email is downloaded into Mail and some mail is left on the POP server

    Hi All,
    I have a weird problem where some email is downloaded into Mail and some mail is not.
    If I log into our ISP's webmail system, there are a whole bunch of emails that are just sitting there. These emails have not ever been downloaded to Mail.
    I've tried to create a duplicate account, but Mail doesn't allow the same username & password in more than one account, which is kind of frustrating - I get an error stating that these user details are already in use.
    Our ISP says it's the client machine, as no one else in the office is having this issue.
    The connection doctor can connect to the servers and 30 or 40 emails are downloaded to Mail each day - just some emails don't.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    OSX 10.4.6
    Mail 2.0.7
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Powerbook 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Mail 2.0.7

    Assuming the account is a POP type account, quit Mail first and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2.
    Delete the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 file and empty the Trash.
    Launch Mail and a new MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 file will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder.
    If successful, any previously downloaded messages that remain on the server will be downloaded again along with any messages available on the server not yet downloaded by Mail.
    The reason you cannot create two accounts in Mail with the same user name and incoming mail server is based on the account and associated mailbox filing structure within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail. When creating an account in Mail, an account named folder is created at the first level within the Mail folder named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account.
    In addition, if this were possible I don't think it would resolve much by having identical accounts created in Mail with both accounts checking the incoming mail server at the same time.

  • I can't see the input field/tab

    I'm learning to work with Java, and i've downloaded and installed JDeveloper 10.1.3.2
    I'm trying to run a simple program that accepts user input using the java.util.Scanner class.
    The program compiles without errors or warnings, but when run, it prompts the user for input but JDeveloper doesn't display the input field at the bottom of the messages window.
    PS: The same program runs in Netbeans 5.0 without any errors, and displays the input field.
    Please how do I fix this problem.

    Sorry.... typed too quickly...
    Double-click project to bring up project properties
    Click Run/Debug in the left pane, click "Edit" in the right pane to edit the config
    Click on "tool settings" in the left pane, then select the "Allow Program Input" in the middle pane.
    Hope this helps

  • Mac OS 10.7 Lion "Mail Can't Verify the Identity of "-Server-".

    This has been an issue for years, but didn't really become a serious problem until another issue (See ~ Massive Deletion of Junk Mail Lockup) conflicted and locked Mail App.  I must force quit Mail to try another tactic.
    Upon launching, nothing has kept all the "deleted" messages from all reopening (this takes about 10 minutes) and not being accessible because each account sequentially has pop up windows that are not responsive.
    Either the host server's certificate is not valid or Mail doesn't recognize the certificate, so each time I launch Mail, it asks what to do for each account.

    Great. I've done nothing else and it has resolved itself. I hate when that happens because I can't conclude what the final fix was. I can only guess that accepting the wildcard SSL fixed it since that was the last thing I did.
    So, I can only conclude at this point that accepting the SSL and rebooting(?) fixed the issue.

  • Mail doesn't save password for iCloud IMAP account (works fine with other email providers)

    Mavericks Mail doesn't save the password for my iCloud IMAP account no matter how many times I enter it into Preferences or enter it when prompted.  Doesn't seem to be saving in Keychain or wherever it should be saved.  Passwords for all other email providers that I use are saved.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?  Thanks!!!!!

    Great, thanks A LOT! Best answer on that issue and so simple!!!! Now it works perfectly fine

  • How do you edit the url field

    When you create an iCal event from a mail message, the mail link is added the url field. I later receive another email with an update regarding the event. How can I change the url link to point to the new email message. I don't find anyway to modify the url field once it's been set. Will I have to just remove the old event and create a new one? That wouldn't be as desirable.

    Ditto here. Is there no way to edit the URL field? you can edit Attendees...I haven't tried editing the Attachments field...
