Mail - group messages

I am trying to send emails to groups so that the email addresses are not visible to all the recipients. How can this be done?

Send the email to yourself and put all the other recipients in the Bcc field.

  • Group message in Mail returned by server

I am converting from using Entourage to Mail. Although I have a mac.com account, I use an Earthlink account for sending and receiving email. I have no problems with individual messages through Earthlink.
I created a group from addresses input individually into Address Book. When I try sending a group message, I get a failure message and the response: "Your message does not conform to RFC2822 standard."
How can I use Mail for group messages with my Earthlink account? Group messages in Entourage were delivered.

Hey, thanks for that! It is very intersting to see how that works. Looks like the outgoing mail queue can change "on demand", like when you left only one account active. This means that the ability to send emails from any of the accounts regardless of where it came in is just a programming step away...

  • Yosemite - Mail grouping unrelated messages from same sender

Since upgrading to Yosemite, mail is grouping messages (I have it set to group by conversation) by sender rather than by conversation.  So now I have three different subjects lines all grouped together in a hodgepodge that is frustrating to sort through.  I tried ungrouping, which separated them all, and regrouping and the problem still persists.  I have restarted and still no luck.  Anyone else having this issue?  Any 'cures'?

I am having the same problem.  Have just sent an email to Apple.
"I am experiencing issues with message grouping within Apple Mail since upgrading to OS X Yosemite (10.10).
Email messages are being grouped incorrectly from different threads and are being confused/merged into one. The messages are from different senders, with different subjects, and different dates.  Nothing that I can see that would cause mail to merge them together.  It is a huge problem because some of the emails don’t even show up as being in this chain, and I have just accidentally found them.
I need to know 1.  How to keep this from happening, and 2. how to separate the ones that have already gotten linked.
This issue is being reported on multiple message board and requires immediate attention.
    Please advise."

  • How do I send a group message to 26 recipients with Orange fs mail??

Hi - I am trying to send a group message to 26 people but it keeps saying too many in the list.  Any ideas how / if this can be done??Thank You in advance for any help and/or tips!! Katrina

Orange Webmail has a limit of 20 recipients (to avoid spamming). Either break your group into 2 or don't use Orange Webmail for sending. Use instead a POP3 mail client.

Mail has started sending duplicates of a message, especially group messages.  It also opens 2 windows for writing a new email.  Help. How do I fix this?

Unfortunately there isn't official commercial support for Mozilla Thunderbird from Mozilla Corp.. I believe some contributors here ([http://mozilla.magicfab.ca myself included]) do offer such support, though.
''Before doing anything else, please do exit Thunderbird completely and [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_backing-up-a-profile backup the profile folder] - it contains all your email, settings, filters, etc.''
Regarding your issue, it looks like the mail folder information may be corrupt. In the left pane, in the folder list, right-click on the Sent folder and select '''Properties'''. Choose "'''Rebuild Index'''" or "'''Repair Folder'''" - do you even have that option? Once done, exit TB completely and restart it.
Updating to a newer version will help anyone help you, if only because some of the documentation for older Thunderbird versions is a bit harder to find and testing to try & reproduce your problem will be harder. Don't do this just yet, though :)
After this issue has been addressed I would suggest considering using IMAP if your provider allows you to, and of course archiving your email to Local Folders and doing regular backups of your profile.
If you want to arrange commercial support, contact me via the link I provided above and we can discuss rapidly. Otherwise I am fine continuing here, however I can only reply as time permits. I am in Montreal (so, EST time zone).

  • When I send a Group message from my address book, the entire group gets listed in the "To" line. How do I get each member to receive the message individually without listing all members? Its just messy is all.

When I send a Group message from my address book, the entire group gets listed in the "To" line. How do I get each member to receive the message individually without listing all members? Its just messy is all. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hey Grupo Castillo,
Thanks for the question. You can actually configure this behavior from Mail preferences:
    1. Choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
    2. Click Composing.
    3. Deselect the checkbox for "When sending to a group, show all member addresses".
When you send an email to the group, only the groups name will be seen.

  • How many email addresses can I include in a group message on my mac email

I am trying to send a group message on email.  My group has 130 addresses in it however my email will not send to all of them.  What is the maximum amount of email addresses you can include in a group for a successful transmission over email?

It appears that your problem is due to your mail provider and not Mac Mail since this

    includes
Note that most mail servers will reject messages that have too many — often over 50 or maybe 25 — recipients.
For mailing larger groups easily, you can use a group mailing service.

  • How in detail, do you create a group message for the Mac Mini?

Could someone please help me create a group message in Mail on my Mac Mini computer.  I have gone into Address Book but cannot find anywhere to create a group.  Tried it and put the Group name at the top, then listed all the group but when I send a message the only one who gets it is the one at the top.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Yes, thanks, Linc.  Right after I posted my question, I simply googled it, and the page you linked came right up.  After 1/2 an hour of trying to make a "VIP folder for someone," I got the right info from googling and handled the situation in one second!  Once again, I have come to the conclusion that I should google any Apple problem, rather than staying within the confines of Apple Help, etc.

  • Group Messaging - Can it be turned off?

Hi - I've been searching the net and have called to ask this question and am now posting this question as a last resort to try to resolve this.  Is there any way to turn off group messaging so that when you reply to a pic message / joke for example you don't send the message to everyone that got the original?
Seems hard to believe that anyone would think this is a good feature without a need to be able to pick whether you reply to the sender or to everyone on the list that you don't know (and who will ask who you are because they don't know why you send an LOL out of the blue).
Any suggestions other than simply not being able to reply to messages and instead having to create a new message so you can reply rather than reply to all?   I have yet to receive a joke or pic message where I wanted to reply to every person that got it from the person I got it from (perhaps that's just me)....

You can select the sender's name from the drop down list at the top or you can press and hold the message to reply just to the sender. But I HATE this group messaging feature. It is very easy to embarrass yourself this way unless you pay close attention to see if it is a group message or not. I don't want that extra work on every single message. I don't like it at all. I've already accidentally texted my older sister's new boyfriend that I've never met.
Also, it is kind of an invasion of privacy--I can see everyone that the message was sent to. What if the sender doesn't want me to know who all the message was sent to? These older phones don't have any kind BCC option like e-mail. I really wish they would remove this feature.

  • IPhone 5c - can't receive group messages after updating to IOS 8.0.2

I have an IPhone 5c and I updated to the IOS 8.0.2 yesterday afternoon and now I can't receive group messages. I have rebooted my phone and reset my network settings along with turning IMessage off & on, turning group messaging off & on.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Ok.  Just got off the phone with Applecare.  We finally figured out what my problem was.  Before iCloud, I had a .mac account.  So, my phone had two email accounts, 1. iCloud 2. mac.com accounts.  Applecare had me delete completely both accounts from my phone, leaving no mail accounts at all.  Then I added a new iCloud account.  Put in my email address and password, then everything worked from there.  Sounds simple.  Good luck to the rest of you.  Hope it's the same fix.  And a big "thank you" to Xavier at Applecare.

  • GROUP MESSAGING ON iPHONE??

Hello to all. I been looking around to try to find a "topic" associated with "group messaging" but no luck. My questions is does iPhone have "Group Messaging". So I can send 1 message to about 4 different people in my contact list? I know you can do it with e-mails with the "BCC" option. But what about TEXT?

    GROUP MESSAGING ON iPHONE??
    No.
SEARCH BOX IN THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF YOUR SCREEN??
    Yes.
Did you really think that in the 3 months the iPhone has been out that no one else but you has wondered about this?

  • Mail group and sieve filter

    Hi all
    I have this situation:
    1. An email group A, with a bunch of members.
    2. An user B, which is member of group A.
    3. User B has a filter which verify the sender address and forward the message to user C if the from address contains the pattern aaaa.com.
    4. Group A, users B and C are in the same domain bbbb.com
5.. An User D in the domain aaaa.com
Suppouse user D send an email to the group A in domain bbbb.com, once the group is expanded user B recieve the email message but the filter is not applied, the email message is not forwarded to user C in domain bbbb.com.
In the case that user D send and email directly to user B the filter is applied and the message is forwared to user C.
This is a normal behaivor.. ?? As I read the filter is applied to every member once the group is exoanded.

The answer is likely to depend on "email group", and if it's a "mail group:, or a "mail list".
Messages sent to a "mail group" appear to be sent by the sending person. Messages sent through a "mail list" appear to be sent by the list itself. Makes filtering options different.
To change a "mail group" to a "mail list", add a msgrperrorTo attribute to the ldap entry, per the schema guide.
Now, to a direct answer to your question. . .
It all depends on your filter. Is it looking for envelope headers or message headers? does the message itself actually have what the filter is looking for? You need to start by looking at the actual message that the filter is acting on.....

  • Mail confirm messages; rules

Is there any way of getting rid of mail confirmation messages; for example, when I want to bounce a message, I shouldn't have to see a dialog box every time. After all, I can delete a message without having to see a confirmation dialog box. Is there some kind of hidden preference for this?
I want to create a rule as follows:
Message is from some sender AND the word "foo" is not found more than five times in the message body.
Is this possible? If so, how?
I get a digest of "foo" several times a day; however most of the messages in the "foo" group have nothing to do with "foo" -- they are about "bar" or are spam. I'd like the digests that aren't about "foo" to go directly into the trash, but the word "foo" is found at the beginning and end of the message -- at the top where the group name is, and at the bottom where the subscribe/unsubscribe information is.
    Thanks in advance.

Check the iCloud.com website and look for a rule that may have been created there.

  • Can I make an email list of approx. 12 addresses to do a group message?

Can I make an email list of approx. 12 addresses to do a group message?

I don't know that even PC can do that.
If you Bcc then a recipient does 'reply to all', it will still only go back to the sender. A PC will no do list expansion that way if the original message has been sent using Bcc. You can't have it both ways - you either share the email addresses so 'reply-all' works, or you hide it and reply-all doesn't work then.
[** disclaimer: not sure if an Exchange type server allows all member users to "share" a list ** ]
You need to use a mailing list service. If you host a domain name website, many accounts come with Smartlist or mailman, for example. So you have [email protected] is the list email address with the subscribers email addresses hidden on the server, the server expands the list and Bccs the users, but the reply to goes back to the list server which then expands and mail out BB to each subscriber again.
Yahoogroups is exactly the same, doesn't Google have a list serv as well?
