Mail Merge Data Shifts to Display Wrong Information

I have a Pages document that I've set up as a simple merge letter. Merge fields are all set up and both documents (Pages and Numbers) are saved.
When I perform the MERGE the first record merges correctly, but all the other records (pages of the letter) are messed up because the data shifts around.
Does anyone have a fix to this problem?

Ron
Thanks I received your files.
As I noted in the email reply, you have empty cells in your "parent" name columns which are producing an empty value error in your concatenation formula in C3 onwards.
Interestingly Pages does not do the sensible thing and skip it. It seems to be counting off merge results and simply jumps to the next input.
That I consider a bug.

  • Mail Merge from Numbers picks up wrong cell

    I have a Numbers document with several tables (each in a different Sheet).  The document was created by exporting data from ScrumWorks Pro into an excel document and than opened in Numbers.  The data I use in the mail merge is in one of the tables.  To prep the table for the merge, I set the top row of the one table to be a header row and save as a numbers document.  Some of the columns in the table reference other tables in the document (for example = PBI::Table 1::C2).
    In Pages, I use three of the columns as merge fields (column B - "Task Title", column F - "Original Estimates (hours), & column I - "PBI Title").  Column I is the one with references to the different table in the same document.
    When I do the mail merge, the first page correctly gets the first two column, but not the third.  The second page of the mail merge picks up column E instead of column B, column I instead of column F, and again not the third merge field.  The third page of the mail merge picks up column N instead of column B, column H instead of column F, and again not the third merge field ... etc.
    I am guessing that it wants/needs further modifications to the Numbers document to prepare it for the merge, but I am not sure what.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Not surprised at all.
    You wrote that the column F contains hours values.
    The truth is that it contain date_time values displaying only the time component.
    The Mail merge hate this kind of data.
    There is a simple workaround. Insert a new column just after column F.
    In the new cell G2, insert the formula =""&F2
    Apply Fill Down
    In the Pages document, repose the field supposed to extract values from column F by one defined to extract from he new column G.
    I'm quite sure that the merge feature will behave as you wish.

  • TS3579 Finder is displaying wrong information on date of modification and when files are opened up, this did not help me. I am using Mavericks.

    Never tried this before but this, the topic, is a little bit annoying at times.. any idea how to fix this or is this just how it will be? This is not OS X ML tho as stated in topic.

    I've just reported that to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
    It's fair to call it a bug I think. Opening a folder changes the modification dates of some, but not all, the folders enclosed.
    Plays havoc with organising time series (backups, things one has just worked on, etc.).

  • Date Picker shows displays wrong timezone after Apex 2.2 upgrade

    After upgrading from 2.0 to 2.2, all date pickers in all applications now display the time in GMT instead of GMT - 7.
    For example: before upgrade 08/03/2006 9:00 -- after upgrade 08/03/2006 16:00.
    The date and time on the server is set to GMT - 7. The database displays GMT - 7 in all other non-Apex apps.
    I suspect there's a global preference that needs resetting, but I can't find it.
    Cheers,
    Jaime

    Hi Jaime,
    What you are witnessing is a feature and not a bug. Shame on us for not making this change in behavior more prominent. But this feature ultimately emanated from the posting at:
    Re: Date Picker and timzone
    In Application Express 2.2, if you are using a DatePicker, the current date and time will be computed based upon LOCALTIMESTAMP. LOCALTIMESTAMP is time zone aware. By default, it will use the database's time zone.
    To control the user's time zone setting in your application, you could add a before-header application-level process (and, ultimately, another one on Submit) to issue a PL/SQL statement like:
    execute immediate 'alter session set time_zone = ''America/New_York'' ';Note:
    1) Those are sets of two single-quotes around America/New_York, not double-quotes
    2) Obviously, you'd replace America/New_York with your favorite time zone. The full list is at:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/applocaledata.htm#sthref2012
    As a quick demonstration, run the following block in SQL Commands on apex.oracle.com or your favorite APEX instance:
    begin
        dbms_output.put_line( 'LocalTimestamp Before: ' || localtimestamp );
        execute immediate 'alter session set time_zone = ''America/New_York'' ';
        dbms_output.put_line( 'LocalTimestamp After: ' || localtimestamp );
    end;
    /I hope this helps.

    Hello Guys,

    So i had BootCamp windows partition of 20Gb.
    Used disk utility to delete the partition and resize disk to full space.
    Now i have 2 issues:
    1 - About this Mac - Storage is displaying the following information:
    Funny right, 600Gb on a 120Gb drive.
    (Apple you can do stuff i would deem impossible)
    2 - When i check Macintosh HD - Get Info it tells me i am ocupying 60Gb, wich is not true and i have confirmed with OmniDiskSweeper, only 40Gb are occupied.
    The first one is only annoying, the second one worries me.
    I have already:

  • Access 2013 crashes after mail merge in Word 2013

    We have several Word templates that query an Access database to populate themselves. After the mail merge is complete, when we close Word then Access immediately crashes every time. This started after upgrading from Office 2003 to 2013. We tried updating
    the Word Doc to 2013 but then it would not connect to the data source at all. Last, we also tried to Compact and Repair the database with no luck.
    We searched for an Access Hot Fix but could not find anything that matches our issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Use a table or query as the data source
    Open the source database, and in the Navigation Pane, select the table or query that you want use as the mail merge data source.
    On the External Data tab, in the Export group, click
    More , and then click Merge it with Microsoft Office Word .
    The Microsoft Word Mail Merge Wizard starts.
    Select whether you want to create the link in an existing document or in a new document, and then click
    OK.
    If you chose to link to an existing document, in the Select Microsoft Word Document dialog box, locate and select the file, and then click
    Open.
    Word starts. Depending on your choice, Word opens either the document you specified or a new document.
    In the Mail Merge pane, under Select document type, click
    Letters and then click Next: Starting document to continue to step 2.
    In step 2, click Next: Select recipients.
    In step 3, you create the link between the data source in Access and the Word document. Because you started the wizard from Access, this link is created automatically. Under
    Select recipients, note that Use an existing list is selected, and the name of your data source is displayed under
    Use an existing list.
    Click Edit recipient list if you want to customize the contents of the table or query.
    You can filter, sort, and validate the data. Click OK to continue.
    Click Next: Write your letter to continue. Follow the remaining instructions in the
    Mail Merge pane, and in step 5, click Next: Complete the merge.
    Other ways to use a table or query as the data source
    You can specify a table or query as a data source in additional ways. For example, you can export the table or query from Access to an ODBC database, a Microsoft Office Excel 2013 file, a text file, or any other file format that is compatible with Word,
    and then link to the resulting file by using the Word Mail Merge Wizard.
    If you have not already exported the table or query , do so. In Access, in the Navigation Pane, select the table or query that you want to use, and on the
    External Data tab, in the Export group, click the format you want to export to, and then follow the instructions.
    In Word, if the Mail Merge pane is not displayed, on the
    Mailings tab, in the Start Mail Merge group, click the arrow under
    Start Mail Merge, and then click Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard. The
    Mail Merge pane appears.
    In step 3 of the Mail Merge pane, under Use an existing list, click
    Browse or Edit recipient list.
    In the Select Data Source dialog box, specify the data file that you created in Access, and then click
    Open.
    Follow the instructions in any dialog boxes that follow. In the Mail Merge Recipients dialog box, review and customize the contents of the file. You can filter, sort, and validate the contents before you continue.
    Click OK, and then click Next: Write your letter in the
    Mail Merge pane. For more instructions on customizing your mail merge, see Word Help.

  • Can I mail merge into PDF

    Hello, I am looking for step by step instructions on how to mail merge data from Excel to a fillable PDF that I created using LiveCycle Designer. What I am trying to accomplish is to have a fillable form that is prefilled with certain information (employee name, date of hire, supervisor name, etc) I will then email these prefilled forms to each supervisor (each supervisor will have a separate fillable form for each of their staff member).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • What is the best app for address labels and mail merge?

    What is the best app for address labels, mail merge and keeping track of customers information?

    Whilst this will work, it's intended for merging information (e.g. producing personally-addressed letters to a list of people).
    If you simply want address labels, open Contacts and then choose which contacts you want (either a group or hold down Cmd and click on those you want - if they're together, click on the first and use Shift when you click on the last). No need to select any if you want all.
    Then press Cmd-P and click on Show Details (at the bottom). Choose Labels (at the right hand side) and choose the size labels you have. You can even adjust the font and colour if you wish.

  • Error Mail Merge Aborted due to error in creating the Mail Merge DataSource

    Dear All,
    please help me with this problem (Oracle release 12.0.4.)
    1. PROBLEM:
    When attempting to extract data, using Web ADI in HRMS, Word is selected as the viewer, but an Excel spreadsheet is generated rather than a MS Word document containing the data. Also error "Mail Merge Aborted due to error in creating the Mail Merge Data Source." appears on screen.
    We are using MS Office 2003.
    2. PROBLEM:
    Unable to create data source from HR form PAYWSLEE.
    We are using custom integrator. This integrator is attached to form function. Form function is attached to responsibility. We also created the layout.
    The next step would be to create data source from form PAYWSLEE, but we are not able to perform this...
    In release 11i we used this form (PAYWSLEE) to create datasource (for mailmerge), but in R12 this is not working... Something is missing here and I need your help to determine what. I checked the most documents on Oracle Support and didn't find solution for this problem...
    Please advise.
    Kind Regards,
    Andreja

  • Word Mail Merge does not accurately import a Text field in Excel with more than 15 numbers

    Hi, I've looked through some of the discussions regarding importing numbers from excel into word mail merge. I'm having a problem. In Excel I have a column that includes numbers with more than 15 digits. In Excel, I have made this column a text format, so
    now in Excel those long numbers show up correctly. However, when doing a mail merge in Word, again the numbers past 14 digits change to zeros. I've read many help articles about this but am still not finding a solution. I even tried going the DDE route and
    that didn't do it either. I checked out this answer: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f57/mail-merge-data-corruption-429351.html which was the most helpful, but again, DDE seemed to work for this person but not for me. I hope someone can offer a solution.
    I was hoping that I could do a picture switch, but that does not seem to be an option for this particular problem. I don't know why importing it in DDE format did not solve the problem. Thanks for any help!

    Wow! After all my searching and just after posting this I figured out the solution! I originally had { MERGEFIELD Field_Name \# # } But then I just removed everything after the field name, as is normal for any other text field, so not indicating it was
    a number, and now it shows up correctly even if the number (from a Text formatted field in Excel) is longer than 15 digits. Hope this helps anyone else who has a problem. I did not use DDE to solve this problem.

  • Have tried many times to do mail merge from csv file but not working have watched all u tube vids!! Please help thank you

    I've downloaded Thunderbird and have imported all emails etc - works great!
    BUT when I try to do a mail merge it doesn't work! I've saved my excel file as cvs and understand that I need to use {{Email}} , {{First Name}} etc
    It just doesn't work for me - no emails in outbox or sent items?
    any ideas please?

    can you confirm a few things?
    You downloaded 'Mail Merge' and it is displayed in the Thunderbird 'Addon Manager' and it is enabled.
    Open the .csv file and checked that the info you are entering in the Write message eg: {{Email}} , {{First Name}} etc is the same as the column headers.
    example:
    {{FirstName}} OR {{First Name}}
    {{Email}} OR {{Primary Email}}
    you can edit the .csv file to change eg: {{Primary Email}} to {{Email}}
    you can also move the column headers, so that the first three columns show : First Name, Last Name, Email

  • Word Mail Merge

    I am using the following code to mail merge data in a table into a Word document:
    call function 'MS_WORD_OLE_FORMLETTER'
          exporting
            WORD_DOCUMENT             = FILEFORM
            HIDDEN                    = 0
            WORD_PASSWORD             =
            PASSWORD_OPTION           = 1
            FILE_NAME                 = FILEDATA
            NEW_DOCUMENT              =
            DOWNLOAD_PATH             = FILEPATH
           PRINT                     = PFPRINT
          tables
            DATA_TAB                  = FDATA
            FIELDNAMES                = FIELDS
         exceptions
           INVALID_FIELDNAMES        = 1
           USER_CANCELLED            = 2
           DOWNLOAD_PROBLEM          = 3
           COMMUNICATION_ERROR       = 4
           others                    = 5.
    Fdata has both text and numeric data in fileds F1, F2, F3,...Fn
    FIELDS has one field containing rows with text data corresponding to the field names of Fdata i.e F1, F2, F3,...Fn.
    My program does not open my word mail merge template, FILEDATA, automatically to fill it with contents of Fdata. Instead a new document is opened with the message "Insert the mail merge fields" and a pop up window asking which filed and record delimeters to use. Where am I going wwrong?

    I will rephrase my question:
    How does the function module 'MS_WORD_OLE_FORMLETTER' work?
    My understnading is that:
    1. WORD_DOCUMENT  is the document that contains the merge fields which will be filled with data. It is the final document that will appear after the function has been executed.
    2. File_Name is the file (can be word document) that will be used as the data source by word_document.
    3. DOWNLOAD_PATH is were File_name is located.
    4. DATA_TAB  contains the merge data. Its contents will be written onto File_name.
    5. FIELDNAMES is he internal table containing the field names that correspond to the fields on WORD_DOCUMENT. It also writes its contants to File_Name.
    Since the data source of a mail merge document should have delimited fields, how do I go about this in the File_Name?

  • Mail Merge goes wrong on multiple merge

    Hi all,
    I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 and Office 2007.
    I have converted an existing pdf file into Word format and moved things around so that it resembles the original pdf, and then inserted fields to merge from an Excel file.
    Everything works perfectly if I just click on 'Create PDF' in the Acrobat ribbon menu.
    However, if I select Mail Merge in the Acrobat Ribbon, then it is shifting things around so that it is a mess. It is not only the merge fields that have shifted, but other parts of the information as well.
    I have attached the two examples with the Test being the straight-forward Create PDF and the Merge being the mail merge.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi Gary,
    What's the data order in the source data? If it's in the first order you mentioned above, I think it will come out with that data order when you run a mail merge.
    We can only sort and filter the data with ascending and descending order, see:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/word-help/sort-and-filter-the-data-for-a-mail-merge-HA102811941.aspx
