Mail ToDo is a separate calendar in iCal anyway to combine?

I have iCal Server running and each of the users has their own calendar, but if I add a To Do while in Mail it creates a second calendar with the same name in iCal, it would be much better if it just added the To Do's to the caldav calendar that is already there, the same is true if you do the reverse if I create a to do item in iCal then switch back to Mail then a second To Do folder is created

Please file this as a feature request for either iCal client or Mail. iCal Server has no control over what those clients do with to-dos, though it is perfectly capable of storing them if needs be.

  • Separate calendars in ical showing same events

I am trying to set up two separate calendars to be published on different websites, but the events on my first calendar that has been published for months keeps showing up in my new calendar. My first calendar is being published on a website hosted by macdock...the new one will be on godaddy. HELP!!!

I am not 100% sure that what I am saying is going to answer what your asking.
Below I have steps that will allow you to have all your calendars on your home computer all your calendars on your ipod (as a backup) and some of your calendars on your work computer. If this is not what your asking then I am sorry.
I like the iPod method. I use it and it has saved my bum at least once. I would, on your computer at home, create a separate calendar or calendar(s) that you don't want to show up on your computer at work.
When you go to work plug in your ipod. Open itunes if its not already open and in the preferences under ipod you will see a calendar section. Tell it to only sync the calendars you do want. once you have that set up, eject your ipod and remove from your computer at work the calendars you don't want.
If what you are asking is to actually separate out whole calendars so you don't even see them. What I mean is have one iCal window open with calendars a, b, c and another window open with calendars 1, 2, 3 where you can control them independently of each other then I have to say sorry you cant do that, not exactly anyway. It involves moving folders around in the library. Truly un-elegant

  • Multiple separate calendars in iCal?

Quick one: If I'm syncing my calendar between work and home, I hesitate to use iCal for certain info (say scheduled reminders to pay bills) that others might access on my work machine. Is it possible to maintain 2 or more separate calendars within the same app? Other options for restricting access to a specific calendar within iCal?

  • How do I create a separate calendar in iCal?

I want to create a separate Calendar for our nanny listing just the kids various activities. Thanks.

How is the nanny to be accessing the calendar? Viewing it on the Mac or printout?
Really need some more info to find the best solution for you. You can always add a new calendar, and just uncheck other calendars visibility, or create one and save a copy to /Users/Shared and have a Nanny login to add the calendar, or publish it to .mac/mobile me or other server and have nanny subscribe etc. on her own Mac login, or just create a google calendar for strict web view.
Just need more info and specifics.

  • Force CalDAV calendar in iCal to send meeting invites via Mail

A handful of people are experiencing issues sending out meeting invite emails via a Google Apps (CalDAV) calendar that is setup in iCal. Meetings are showing up on invitees calendars, but they are not receiving email notifications about them.
Thread on that topic here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=368ec40a6bdd7bb8&hl=en
    and here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2707217&tstart=0
*So, my question is this*: Is there a way to force Mail.app to send out a meeting invitation of a CalDAV calendar that is setup in iCal, instead of using whatever system the CalDAV calendar uses (in my specific case, Google Apps). My assumption is that iCal uses the Mail.applescript or Mail.scpt file that is inside the iCal package (iCal > Show Package Contents > Resources > Mail.applescript) when sending out an invite from a local calendar. Any way to force a CalDAV calendar to use that script?

    I had that problem too.
I changed my mail preferences "Add invitations to iCal" from Automatically to Never and that seems to work for me.
    Hope that helps

I know this email is confusing and really hard to understand...perhaps now you will know how i've been feeling--lost and confused with all the mis-information, with a hit and miss phone, and out of time with all the 1 1/2 hr to 2 hrs EACH wasted on this issue.
On top of all this, I can't even find out how to file a complaint with anyone higher up than Customer Service.
I hate to tell you this, but you didn't write an email. You wrote a discussion post on the Verizon Wireless Community forum which is a public peer to peer forum. Unfortunately since you didn't mark your post as a question, the VZW reps that roam this community won't ever see your post. Before you re-post it, don't. Duplicate posts get removed from the community.
I see there were several missteps both by the reps and yourself in your post. First you should have insisted on returning the phone within the 14 day return policy period. Second which Samsung Galaxy mini model did you purchase? The S3 mini or the S4 mini? Did you do any research prior to deciding on this device. The reps at that time deflected the easiest course of action, by trying to get you to replace the phone under insurance instead of returning the phone. The Early Edge payment option requires the current phone on the line using the early Edge must be returned to Verizon Wireless. Did you once considered going to a third party site like Swappa to purchase a gently used device for your daughter?

  • Sync Exchange Mail Account Calendar with iCal

Is it possible? -With Panther or Tiger? I've seen some third party software, but natively?
I've "Bind" my Mac to my Active Directory via Directory Access successfully. I'm able to configure my Mail client -to point to my account in Exchange. And I'm able to view my Exchange Distribution List successfully via Mac Address Book.
My next project is to sync my Exchange Mail Account Calendar with iCal.
    Any suggestions? I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Can you name the third-party apps? I own Groupcal and I am starting to get fed up by their inability to get a proper working app for Tiger. I am using 2.5 beta now, but there are still too many issues with it. I am searching for an alternative solution, but have not yet been succesful.

  • Google calendars in ical over caldav go blank

Sometimes (roughly 1/3 weeks) my google calendar in iCal goes blank - all events vanish.
The events are still there when I look at the calendar online.
I have ~5000 events over several years.
I added the calendar via Callaboration.
    This is my default calendar.
I have 3 separate machines that use caldav to access the same google calendar and they both have the same problem but generally not at the same time.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Just out of interest what should he Calendar list be named as iCloud or @me.com.
It doesn't matter - you can name it whatever you want. It's purely a descriptive label, nothing more.
If you want to change it, just go into the Mail, Contacts & Calendars system preferences pane, select the account in the left panel, click Details... on the right and enter the new name in the Description field.
Also why when looking at File - New Calendar are both iCloud and my me.com account listed?
It does the same for me too. It seems to be a bug. iCal seems to be seeing your AppleID as an extra potential place to store calendars, although it doesn't actually do anything if you try.

  • Is there a way to create three different physical calendars in ical so that I can get a fiscal view of the calendars?

Is there a way to create three physically different calendars in iCal so that I can view the calendar and events from a fical point of view?

iCal just shows the calendars you have created in your account(s).  So if you are using iCloud just log into your iCloud account in a web browser and make as many new calendars as you wish to have.  Then enable those in iCal.
If you use Google accounts or something else for the calendars, then create them as needed, and enable them in iCal.
I have several separate calendars all displayed in iCal - a couple linked through my Gmail accounts, and one through my iCloud account.  Each uses a different default item color so they are distinct in iCal.

  • How do I sync 'on my mac' calendar in ical with icloud or an alternative for my iphone?

I'm using Outlook 2011  with 2 IMAP email addresses, a business email and a gmail address.  The only reason I'm using Outlook instead of Mail, Address Book and iCal is because there were issues with me receiving meeting invites from business colleagues.  Anyway, now I'm using Outlook, my contacts & calendar are no longer synchronising with my iPhone (4).  I'm using the Outlook synch services to copy the Contact info to Address Book and the calendar info to iCal. BUT, the calendar in iCal is 'On My Mac' and doesnt get picked up by iCloud.
Can anyone help with simple suggestions for a wireless solution for keeping Outlook calendar in synch with my phone?  Would upgrading my email account to Exchange be a solution?

Thanks Winston.  I'm aware that the 'on my mac' calendar doesn't get picked up by iCloud.  I'm wondering whether anyone can help with the best alternative solution for synchronisation of phone and Outlook.

  • Can I print small calendars in iCal or from some other program?

I have a calendar in iCal that is used to keep track of my girlfriend's class and work schedule (which is wildly different from day to day). I would love to have this calendar on my iPhone but it must be in a different color like it is in iCal so that I can differentiate her schedule from my own easily. I thought a nice solution might be to simply print a small business card sized week view of her schedule and keep it in my wallet, however I can't seem to get ical to print a week view on anything smaller than an 8x10 sheet of paper.
It would be a great help to me if you could show me how to either sync to my iphone in a different color or print a small portable "cheat sheet" that I can carry with me...
By the way Apple, if you're reading this, how come we can't keep calendars that are separate in iCal separate in iPhone? Unless I am just being a dunce on this one, you should consider making this possible on the iPhone.

Ok it is a long one but it is possible to resize it without any external programs.
Only one calendar is synced to iPhone (ie one colour)
    To print your calendar small:
    Choose File/Print
Select everything you want on the calendar, don't worry about sizes yet and click Continue
In the print window, choose Paper Handling and select Scale to fit paper size
Choose the size you would like (business card?)
You can either print or Save to PDF

  • Google Calendar in ical

Is there a way to import my google calendar into ical? I have my google email account set up using the mac mail client and it works great, but I need my calendar too. Is this possible?

  • Remove Exchange Calendar from iCal

I have an Exchange Calendar in iCal (Mountain Lion) that I want to remove. How can I do this? If I select it and choose Edit the Delete option is greyed out. The account is not listed in Preferences > Advanced either.
I want to delete it because every time I receive an invitiation in Outlook for Mac, the invite is being placed in the iCal calendar, but does not appear in my Outlook calendar.

I think I discovered where iCal/Calendar is getting the Exchange calendar data from. Initially I wondered whether the iPad/iPhone were doing something odd, but no, the Exchange mail account was set to sync Contacts and Calendar on both, via Active Sync.
I then plugged both devices into the Macbook and opened iTunes and checked the Info tab - "Sync Calendars" was not ticked.
I then discovered that in Mountain Lion a change was made to the Mac System Preferences under Mail, Contacts and Calendar - I saw my Exchange account listed and so clicked to edit it. It brought up a screen showing that Calendar was ticked. I unticked this and my appointments sent to me in Outlook are no longer appearing in ical - which is what i wanted.
Hope this might help someone else.

  • Shared calendars in iCal via Exchange 2007

I am trying to test a solution for a user that has an iMac she wishes to connect to our Windows network and access her email and calendars from home. She will VPN of course, and upgrade to Snow Leopard for Exchange support. I have everything working up to that point on a test MacBook with 10.6.2 that is on the inside (will test VPN after everything works internally). I created an Exchange account that I can receive mail in Mail.app and normal calendar events in iCal.
The situation she is attempting to do is to see shared Exchange calendars. Not public folder calendars, but individual calendars that have been shared with her. Now in Outlook, all you have to do is click Open a Shared Calendar and input the user name of the calendar owner. In iCal, I think it is the Subscribe function, but it asks for a URL. What am I supposed to enter there? I have Outlook Web Access (OWA) URLs for the calendar I am trying to access, but when I input the URL string, I get an error saying the data was not valid.
    Anyone else doing this???
BTW, here is a link to a shot of the error message I am getting:

There is an alternative way you could try which works very well for our client who uses both macs and pc's on a windows network.
On iCal go to ICAL > Preferences. Click on the Accounts tab, select the exchange account and click on the delegations tab. On here click the + symbol and type in the first few letters of the user who's calendar she needs access to - if exchange is configured correctly it should automatically find the username and add that calendar to iCal for her to view.

  • Combining calendars in iCal

Is it possible to combine two calendars in iCal? I have a calendar that I no longer need, but instead of deleting it and losing all of the to dos and appointments that I had in it, I would like to roll it into an existing calendar.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Another way to do this would be to use the search function in iCal to show all the events and todos of the calendar then move them all into the other calendar.
First make a backup, just in case. Go to the File menu and select Backup Database... and save it somewhere safe.
Then hide all the calendars (Command-Click one calendar's checkbox), then un-hide the single calendar you want to lose. Click on the search button (three horizontal lines in the lower right of iCal's main window.), to show all events and todos in that calendar. Scroll up and Click the first result and then scroll down and Shift-Click on the last result. With all the items selected, Control-Click one event in the search list and select Calendar from the contextual menu, then select the name of the destination calendar from the resulting list to move the events and todos to.
Once you are happy that the events and todos have been moved succesfully, then delete the old calendar.
    Best wishes
    John M
