Mailto links inside html widget

Did anyone successfully inserted a mailto link inside an html widget?
I tried this <a href="mailto:[email protected]">Send mail</a> but nothing happens when I click it on the ipad, any idea ?

I looked inside a ibook author file after putting in a keynote with the mailto link that worked on the ipad. Inside the folder there is a *.JSON file that lists the mailto as follows:
"hyperlinks":[{"url":"mailto:put%2520email%2520here?subject=Notes"
ie- I left the email link as "put email here" and the slide is called Notes
I am not sure if the formatting of the mailto is also an issue or the fact that it is in a JSON..

Scrolling inside HTML widgets

Hey everyone,
After successfully making my HTML widgets large, I was wondering if there was any way to easily allow scrolling inside of them, like you would have in Safari. I am mostly using them as little views into other sites, so it would be great to be able to scroll around. In the present iteration I am incorporating a small Wolfram widget that lets students play with trigonometric functions, but the output gets cut off because the widget is too small. It'd be fine if the students could just scroll down, but I can't seem to be able to do that. Any suggestions?

OK, the solution by Tars Tarkis worked great- in iBooks Author. But the scrolling does not work correctly in iBooks. I was able to get horizontal scrolling to work, sort of. No vertical scrolling in iBooks, even though scrolling in both directions worked fine in Author.
I am trying to embed a Google Docs form. The embedding with a Dashcode widget works great, but the form is long enough that vertical scrolling will be necessary. Again, Tars' solution worked in Author, but not in iBooks.
Any other suggestions for making a HTML widget scroll correctly?

Is it possible to link out to external URLs from within an HTML widget, and have them open in Safari?

I can add links within the iBook content, but if they're added inside an HTML widget, the new page loads *inside* the widget itself, with no ability to navigate back etc.
Is there any way to have external links inside an HTML widget open in Safari?

Those links need to be local the the book, sorry.

Opening a file in the host from a link in the HTML widget

Hi,
I'm trying to create an inDesign panel that opens an inDesign file (.indd or .idml) when I click on a link in an HTML list of files that appears in the HTML widget.
Can anyone tell me how I can achieve this either width html or javascript/extendscript ?

In the FM'S u might have declared the import,export,tables parameters.So u have to use these parameters in the source code editor of FM.If u don't use any of these parameters and try to use any other parameters which also not declared in the FM source code,then u will get the error.pz check the parameters u r using in the FM....

Do same files in html widgets get shared in a book?

If there are multiple html widgets inserted in iBooks and use the same underlying js/css files do they get shared somehow when published or does each widget gets it own copy? We are worried about the size as we will have multiple html widgets using the same underlying files.

Each carries own afaik.
Sames aren't linked to one source inside the xml (you can dig into the book file to see if you like) - if they did and you deleted the main, they'd all go south...ouch.

How do I reset the furthest page read in iBooks from an HTML Widget?

Our training department just got a bunch of iPads and I'm writing some custom HTML widgets for iBooks for them for testing, in-class activities, etc.
On the last page I have a link to clear all the forms and return to the first page. Like this: <a href="ibooks:///#page(1)">Click here</a>
That all works fine but the next time the book is opened it auto-syncs to the FURTHEST page read (the last page with the test on it) instead of the LAST page read (the first page- from the link mentioned above).
Basically we want the link to reset the furthest page read to the first page of the book when they finish the test so that the next person to use the iPad goes to page one automatically.
Does anyone have an idea of how to do something like completely clear the iBook cache?

This was hand-coded HTML, CSS, jQuery/Javascript with a PHP file on our server that processes answers and emails them to our training director.
I use Brackets exclusively for coding.

Html Widget Crashes. How to load only one html widget at a time?

I have a bunch of html widgets which are just tab navigators with html pages inside of them. I must have about 20 of them , mostly leading to google image searches for common searches I tend to do in my work. Instead of constantly searching for these things on google I just click on the tab with the google search for say..."tree images". Its very fast and effecient for me.
The problem is now I have so many that it crashes photoshop, or crashes adobe configurator most of the time if I try to open the panel file. Im guessing that the panel I made tries to load all 20 google image searches at once, instead of only loading the page I click on one at a time. Is there anyway to stop configurator from loading my html widgets that arent clicked on ?

Can you force a link inside a .pdf to open the "linked to" document in a new window?

When I have a link inside my .pdf document - linking to another .pdf document or to a Word document - how can I force the linked-to document to open in a new window?
I have a web site (business internal, so unfortunately I cannot point to it). My HTML menu has links to .pdf documents - no problem. However, once I open those .pdfs, they contain links to other .pdfs and to Word documents. Clicking on these links, which reside inside my .pdfs, opens the "linked-to" docs in the same page. How can I force them to open in a brand new frame?
All of my .pdfs were originally created in Word, and in the Word versions, the links DO open into new frames. I am not sure why, when I convert them to .pdfs, they lose this feature.
Can anyone help?

Mailto: link no longer works

After working tfor the years the code for adding a email link no longer works. What's going on? For example this piece of code worked fine for years <a href="mailto:[email protected]">Email</a>. Now when I try to use the link my email programs opens up fine but in the place where the email address goes it includes the the full mailto:[email protected] where the email address goes rather than just the email address.

Mailto links are inherently unreliable for several reasons:
The end user must have an mail client like Outlook installed on their device. Most webmail users don't need an email client anymore preferring to log-in to their accounts with a browser. If your end user has no email client, nothing will happen when they click the mailto link.
Spam. Email links are a neon sign for robot email harvesters who will bombard your inbox with unwanted spam mail.
People who use computers in public libraries, schools or community centers won't be able to use your mailto links.
For best results, use an HTML contact form with a server-side script that processes form data and sends it to your email address. Preferably a script that is secure and has built in spam prevention.

The images in my html widget look blurry!

Hey there, I'm making some html widgets for my book using HYPE. When I insert this into the ibooks the program shows the preview image in crisp high quality but when I preview it on the iBook, the figure looks somewhat blurred. When I tap on the figure to enlarge it and make it interactive, everything looks fine and crisp, it's only the preview window before it's enlarged that doesn't looks so good. I even tried replacing the preview with a separate picture and previewing that but whatever I do, the preview just doesn't look sharp. Does anyone have any solutions I can try?

Blurry preview icon for HTML widget
The best way to handle this issue is to make the preview icon transparent and place it over your own custom reference graphic on the page.
1- Place on the page the graphic you will be using as the reference icon for the widget
2- Place your widget on top of the custom graphic icon. Make sure it is in "Front". Also make the preview icon is as small as possible.
3- Click on the preview icon TWICE and make its transparency "0". If you only click the preview icon once the Transparency slider will not become active.
4- Now, when you preview the book, your Widget Link will open your custom HTML Widget and both will display at full resolution.
A bonus result of doing this... Since your link is transparent you can make it as large as needed to make it a large enough touch target.

How to send an URL with arguments in a mailto: link ?

Hello,
I need to build simple mailto links to send urls in the body of the message.
Unfortunately there are arguments in this url : like http://host/SearchServlet?toSearch=foo";
When I click on the link the body is truncated before the ?
even when I replace ? with %3F or ? !!!
How can I pass this URL ?

Need to wrap text around HTML widget

Hi,
I'm making a site with pages that contain lots of text and images to go along with the text next to it. The person hosting the site however says that all photos need to be linked through photobucket due to space,so I need to use HTML widgets for the photos, and i want it hosting on this site as opposed to .me. I know that you can wrap text around inserting images from your own computer and you can't wrap it around a widget, so at the moment i've inserted boxes into the text and put the widgets over the boxes but when viewed in a browser everything is out of place.
Is there any other solution? there really should be.

There is a way to lock the text so that it will appear the same in all browsers regardless of font or platform: apply a drop shadow with 6% opacity to the font which will convert it to an image. When you do you'll see this icon on the text box:

To see the image indicator you'll have to select the checkbox "Show text imaging indicator" in iWeb's preferences:

There is a downside to this in that having addition image files on the page can add to the loading time. That may or may not be an issue but if it is you can always remove the drop shadow.
NOTE: The text appears to be 13 pt Lucida Grande which is pretty small and difficult to read IMO. Using Times New Roman 14, a serf font, takes up about the same amount of room and, IMO, is much easier to read. Just a though.

Broken Links inside FLash

I notived that the links inside my flash header do not work
on this page as well as other pages inside this directory. The
links do work in the root directory. Does someone know how to fix
this problem I am having? Here is the link:

The action script URL setting is index.html, about.html, etc.
For some reason when you click the following link, the flash header
sends the user to
http://www.school-psychologist.com/nick/worshipping/index.html
instead of

impossible to say other then your code is wrong - always
always always copy/paste the code in
question or we have nothing to go by - but flash simply does
not replace urls with other urls - you
must have the wrong code on the wrong button and missed
something simple.
