MainStage continually crashes; CPU load issues
Love the MainStage interface design! However, it keeps randomly crashing and it sure is frustrating. My soft synth plug-ins are Ivory 1.01, Sonic Synth 2, Sample Tank 2.2. Are there any known compatibility issues with these? I am attempting to replace Rax as my host, but so far Mainstage is not handling the CPU load when running four plug-ins quite as well as Rax. Crashes have been reported to Apple. Any advice would be appreciated.
Well, of course NOW it won't crash! However, I am just using "Musical Typing" to test it because I don't have it hooked to my Controller (Alesis Q8.2) and Audio Interface (M-Audio 410). Maybe that means there is a glitch in the controller/interface hardware or software? It has always worked before with Rax, but when I hook everything up again using MainStage I will surely get it to crash, and post a crash log. Thanks!

Logic 9.1.8 & Mainstage 2 - crashing frequently/audio issues
I have just uprgraded to this set up (though using the same sound card as I did on my Mac Book with Logic 8 & Snow Leopard prevously) - in order to avoid overloading which was happening on my previousl set up.. only to find that this new system seems very buggy - crashes frequently on Logic (Sudden Motion Sensor error - have disabled that now) and Main Stage freezes. Then a wierd echoey sound can happen - whereby any audio is echoed back from DAW, in Logic AND Mainstage.
I have down loaded two plug-ins/VST's since starting to use this new set up - an XILS Lab L.E. verision and a Crystal synth. I've downloaded the up to date Duet drivers from Apogee. (I have an Duet 1.5 that I used with my old set).
Have looked at the Console system log to try and understand what might be happening - it is FULL of text on occasions when Logic crashes - I am not tech savvy enough to unpick it though.
If anyone has any suggestions to help I would be grateful, thanks.

Mainstage 2 crashing when loading concert made on another mac
My Mainstage [2.2.2 on Lion] crashes when I try to load a concert created on someone else's mac. I have tried loading it several times but it crashes every time. Any ideas why this might be? I would post a crash report but it never finally crashes just endless spinning colour wheel and 'stuck' loading status bar!
Hi thecamptain,
If the version of the concert you´re try to load is different than yours than probably that´s the problem.
Some missing plug-in may lead to it. Can you tell what´s the content of the concert? guitar setup, how many patchs, etc.
You could try this:
Export (Command + E) each patch or export the set by click on it
Then Import (Comand + I) it to a new concert in your Mac
Post your results
Hope i´ve helped you

Help with Mainstage 3.1 CPU overload issue
I was using Kontakt 5, UVI Workstation and Pianoteq 5 in MainStage 3 without any issues.
Since I updated to MS 3.1, The CPU is always above 100% !!! I am facing audio dropouts and it is absolutely impossible to play a show
Is anyone else facing the same issue? Any tips to help reduce CPU overload will be helpful.
I have Contact and UVI workstation running from an external hard disk. I thought that might be the issue but i tried with a keyboard template set in MS 3.1 and still while playing CPU usage shoots to 100% plus!
I am on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.Try to get the Mainstage 3.0.4 from a timemachine backup.
Try to update all your programs like pianotec.
For me, 3.1 feels better concerning timing/ latency. This might cause more stress for the processors.
My system i7 2,2 GHz is always getting hot, fans go crazy. There's a limit: Better than 64 Samples buffer is not possible.
To be serious: A real Piano needs 0,25ms to produce a sound. We have to deal with 4ms. That's bad. So you could increase buffersize to 128 and try playing? It makes no big difference if you play the poor 4ms ore poor 6ms for example. In every case we are far away from the real thing.
Check, if you activated the "savety buffer" checkbox in audiodriver window.
If you can't find 3.0.4., you could try to reduce the installed channelstrips in your patches. Effects in concert level should be reduced. Evt. you have Efx in busses that are not needed in most patches. So cancel them in concertlevel and install them in selected patches.
I replaced a spacedesigner reverb with an reverb outside the system, it's processed from the interface. Same with a chorus.
I tested a newer MacbookPro retina, that was not better than mine. The difference was, it produced little dropouts every 10 seconds.
Hopefuly there will be a update for 3.1 soon.
And be serious: Before 3.1 you could play a show without dropouts, but was it fun? Mainstage urgently needs better latency capabilities, generally. -
Not sure how much clearer I can be.

Osx 10.9 Mail & Safari High cpu load
Hello,
A few weeks ago I updated to OSX 10.9. After working a few days with it, I run into several high CPU load issues.
2 processes: mail-webmateriaal and safari-webmateriaal (dutch).
Now I use Chrome instead of Safari which solves 50% of my problem, but it is not so easy to change to another mail-client...
Does anyone have a clue about the possible cause, but even more important, a solution?
Best regards,
Johanjvdstoel,
Ditto. I have the exact same OS 10.9 issue on a Late 2008 iMac with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo that is maxed out at 4 GB RAM (seemed like a lot of RAM at the time).
Mail, Safari, and Firefox--but not Chrome--whether running any 1, 2, or all 3 programs together keeps the CPU running hard at and often above 100%. This occurs even when the programs a sitting idle from the user's perspective. Disabling all extensions on Safari and Firefox did not help. Nor did running Onyx to clear all catches system wide.
Calling on anyone with a virtual PhD in Maverics (or real Apple OS 10.9 street-smarts) for suggestions.
Best,
Pete -
50% CPU load @ Boot: nmbd crash and reload bug
I have seen several threads here and around the net about samba on OSX using over 50% of the CPU without showing up in the activity monitor OR in top on the command line. While this is easily solved by unchecking the Windows Sharing service under System Preferences -> Sharing, this is not a fix. It just hides the problem, samba is still broken, and those of us who actually need windows interoperability are left with a machine that gets very hot, has poor battery life, and performs sluggishly.
Don't get me wrong, I am grateful to the people who actually found out what the problem is and how to get around it for a bit, but the problem is not "solved".
I've used *nix flavors for several years now and I have never seen this problem before. After having a MacBook for 8 days, I am now very frustrated.
So, what do we do to FIX the problem? An hour and a half on the phone with Apple Tech Support and I've learned that this problem has persisted through OSX 10.1 - 10.4.6, x86 and PPC. One person in these forums is trying (unsuccessfully I might add) to rebuild samba from scratch (for a different reason, they need ldap support: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2166703I just diagnosed this problem on my new MacBook. I had seen that suddenly my CPUs would peg for no reason. Finally after a few days of frustrating work trying to identify the offending program I noticed that nmbd would be launched time and time again as a root process and the CPU load would correspond with it, but its process would not be shown consuming the cycles. Looking up what nmbd did I killed Windows file sharing and the problem was resolved. Looks like the program crashes and causes all of the load on the CPUs, but a debugger never comes up or message from the Finder saying it crashed. It was only consuming 1.25megs of RAM on my system before the problem would happen over and over. Looking on my friends MacMini with identical specs to my MacBook, his constantly uses about 3.58 megs of RAM. Process broken on MacBooks only? Dunno...
Yes it *****, but at least I know my computer isnt actually busted like I was beginning to suspect nor was it any of the various beta programs / haxies I may have been running. (Since all of them were gone once I did a clean install.) Maybe 10.4.7 will address it? -
High CPU load and com.apple.ImageCaptureExtension2 crash after upgrade
After upgrading my Macbook Air from Lion to Mountain Lion, the system has a very high cpu load, and the crash reporter is the process that causes thee high load. In the error log I see this entry several times per second:

I investigated a bit more and recovered, that it has something to do with the printer drivers. When I remove all printers from setting, everything is fine. As soon as I add a printer (Brother MFC 9440CN printer/scanner, printer driver provided by Mountan Lion), the crash reporter starts it's work and the error log is full of those entries.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
MarcusI did more exploration and found the cause of this, but I don't know how to fix it:
I removed all Brother and Lexmark printer drivers and rebooted (and also tested with a virtual machine using 10.8.0 as guest os that never had any printer installed). As soon as I enter the printer settings and press the "+", the crashes begin, so it looked like the bonjour one of the printers announcing themselves via Bonjour were causing this.
When watching a picture in the preview app the same happend. We have two multi function printers in our network, the already mentioned brother printer and a Lexmark X204N. Switching off the Lexmark (which wasn't installed on my Mac) solved the problem. Switching off the printer is no solution in our office (it's our fax device and main printer), but switching off mDNS on the Lexmark also solved it. But this can only be a workaround.
Is this a known problem with Lexmark devices and Mountain Lion (it works fine with machines using Lion)? Are there any fixes known? It's just the Lexmark device announing itself via Bonjour that causes trouble, even if the driver is not installed. -
Sorry this is my first time in the Adobe forum. I pretty much asked everything in my title. The installation process took me several hours to finally get it loaded. Continually crashes my DVD player and I have to use a pin to open it to get to the disc. This is a new disc just purchased a few days ago. Read where this program has had its share of problems on the internet. After installing the program, it blinks continually for a long time before it ever opens. Rather annoying to say the least. Need this program to get me started in my work.
Will this program work even though it blinks for a long time when opening it? Seems to work, but since I am not that familiar with it, I really don't know just yet.
Thank you for your input.
CBBYou're right. It wasn't QuickTime itself. I solved all the problems myself.
The main reason why QuickTime files weren't working was because the newest audio driver from Creative released July 2007 (using their autoupdate) is apparently for Windows Vista (it has the name Vista in the update title). Why that update showed up on my Windows XP Pro system, I have no idea. So, I went to Creative's site and got the driver before the latest release, and all works well.
The Microsoft update (from June 2007, I noticed today, not July) is another issue. It's based around the file P17RunE.dll, which is something from Microsoft for the SoundBlaster. Not sure what it does, but I don't need it.
Sorry for wasting all your time on a non QuickTime issue, but thanks for the help. -
After updating to latest update of Yosemite, my laptop continuously crashes if I let it go to sleep. When I try to wake it up, the crash message appears on the reboot screen.
Thank you for replying, is this information what you wanted?

DMVPN phase 3 - scalability - nhrp generates high cpu load
Hey all.
Been running into a scalability issues with DMVPN. Mainly caused (as I see it) by NHRP.
Scenario:
IOS-SLB-based DMVPN solution in a dual-cloud setup. Practically it's 2 separate solutions with spokes having 2 tunnels (one in each cloud). See attachment sketch. We're running a phase 3 hierarchy design (trying at least)
Spoke routers:
- 2500 routers in a mixture of c871, c881, c2800, c2900. Need to scale to at least twice that.
- Spoke-to-spoke is heavily used
Farm routers:
- Cisco 7201 with VAM2+. Around 1 router per 350 spokes (+1 for secondary tunnel)
Superhub:
- ASR 1004 (one for primary and one for secondary dmvpn-cloud).
We're not running any IPSEC between the farms and the superhubs. Just regular unencrypted DMVPN (mGRE).
Problem:
- NHRP is causing high CPU load on the ASRs. With around 2000 spokes up and running on DMVPN the CPU is overloaded with NHRP traffic. We're talking like 60-70% load caused by the NHRP process alone!
We're using 'ip nhrp interest' on all the spokes - and farms. We're in need of the spoke-to-spoke functionality so we allowing LAN-segments of our customers but denying everything else.
Solutions?
1. Turning off all NHRP resolutions? Basically remove any directly spoke-spoke communications (denying everything on the interest list). We can't go there since a lot of our customers are in dire need for directly spoke-spoke connectivity (due to latency). Haven't tested that it will actually give the much needed scalable solution either (we're facing around 5000 spokes in the next 2-3 years).
2. Chopping the DMVPN solution up in lesser VPN-blocks. This will administratively be a nightmare.
3. ?
Will really appreciate if anyone have a input here. It's really hard finding anything about a LARGE scale phase3 design on the web. Everything I find seems to mix stuff from small-scale phase 2 and 3 - making it rather messy cooking reciept for a small breakfast while I need a 7 course perfect dinner
When will Cisco come with an updated design guide btw?
Thanks in advance!Thank you for your quick reply.
Our ASRs (rp1) are acting as BGP RR while the farm routers are setup as RR clients.
We haven't tried connecting spokes directly to the ASRs but we have seen the same symptoms on the 7613s (sup720) and the 7200-platform.
Earlier the 7600 had the same role the ASRs have today. We were expecting that the ASRs should be doing "a better job" in terms of CPU load but we were wrong (NHRP generated around 10% more cpu load on the ASRs in comparison).
We concluded that the ASRs have a less optimized OS (coding) being rather new and all. Further we're not all happy about the stability of the platform (clear ip nhrp or taking a shutdown on the tunnel in the current situation will crash the router. 15.1(2)S1 and 15.1(3)S0a adv ip services). Haven't made a TAC case of it yet but will (has to be a bug as I see it since the 7200/7600 is handling this just fine).
Due to what I mentioned above I don't dare to debug the problem in production time and have to wait until the next scheduled maintenance window for some decent debug output (24. Oct).
We've contacted Cisco AS for assistance since it's hard to find local consultants (Norway) with enough knowledge of such scenario.
I just hope it's a config-issue and not a design issue, but we're willing to to whatever for this to scale to the thousands. -
Performance Regression: After update to FireFox 18 permanent high CPU load
After the last update FireFox started to continuously eat a whole CPU on my 2-core laptop. My usage pattern (regarding browsed sites and/or activated plugins) has not changed, but I must confess that I'm a heavy user of plugins.
I suspect the problem may arise from a changed performance behaviour of a plugin due to the new JS engine of FF18, but how can I easily trace this problem further down. I.e. is there a way to inspect the collected performance data of firefox (activated)?I use FF always with many tabs opened, min 100, sometimes up to 300+. After Updating FF17 to FF18 I've recognized a much more higher CPU-usage.
This issue doesn't occur as long as there are just a few tabs opened, or it doesnt' be of any consequence at least. The CPU-load of FF18 gets higher with each opened tab. When you close the tabs, the CPU-usage also gets normal. There is nearly no Flash-content and just few JS working on the websites (thanks to NoScript and ABP).
The System: i5-CPU, 16GB RAM, Win7 x64
FF17.01: CPU-load 1.0% average at 300 tabs
FF18.01: CPU-load 10.0% average at 300 tabs FF18.01: CPU-load 5.0% average at 150 tabs FF18.01: CPU-load 3.3% average at 100 tabs
A fresh install and disabling all addons (even in Safemode) didn't fix the problem. It seems, that FF is permanetly doing something with the tabs to being able to speedup on user-action. It's all good, as long as there are just a few tabs opened, but it's getting worse with each further opened tab.
I've opened a bug-ticket at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=832864 -
CPU load higher after applying in 147440 kernel on Oracle database servers
Hi all,
Just wanted to know if anyone else is seeing an Increased CPU load with higher peaks and for longer periods of time, especially on single thread processes on oracle database servers. Our Oracle Database versions vary from Oracle 10 to Oracle 11.1.0.7 11.2.0.2 10.2.0.4. The Hardware includes Sunfire V245's, V440 and T5240. We saw a slight performance hit when going to 147440-02 at the first of Oct, but no big deal. Then we applied 147440-04 in the first part of Nov. And of course we got CPU panics and Zfs file system stopped mounting basically a complete disaster. Oracle provided and IDR for the CPU panic and then later release 147440-06. Which resolved the CPU panics and zfs file system mounts. But now our load average on is 1 to 3 points higher during load, grid control is constantly complaining of 100% utilization. I have had a call open since the first of November with oracle/sun support and have provided guds performance stats on before and after Kernel change. They are still saying that its not an issue. It is so bad we had to roll back to a July kernel on one of the servers.Just to let you all know what we have found. After 2 1/2 months of working with Oracle Kernel team, they have identified the Oracle Enterprise Manager (emagent) (Grid control Agent) was using nearly 60000 threads under the 147440 Kernel and only 1500 threads under an older kernel.
I googled the solution for the emagent, but I continue to press Oracle Kernel Engineers to work with their software division, to identify other products that might cause similar problems.

System reboots with high CPU load: Advice?
I built this system (in sig) just under a week ago; all works fine. 3 days ago, when running a game (specifically; Dark Age of Camelot, 2x instances == 100% CPU load) the PC rebooted 3 times in a row.
Shortly thereafter, I reinstalled the OS (Win XP Pro SP1 + all windows updates) and the PC continued working fine for about 30 hours, then again began to reboot. At this time I disconnected the 2nd hard drive I had installed.
Just a little bit ago, it again rebooted out of the blue. The system halts, the hard drive spins down and back up, then the system reboots.
This smacks, to me, of a power supply issue. 4 hours of memtest86 resulted in no errors.
CPU is running at 28 degrees idle at the moment, I've seen it go as high as 52 when it's been operating at 100% for several hours without a break. Case temperature is 34 degrees at idle, and I have seen it peak at 42. I don't think temperature is the issue here, but I could be wrong. I have 3 fans in the case, all 80mm- side rear and top mounted; side intake, rear and top exhaust.
Okay anyway... thoughts? I am thinking power supply. I am pretty noobish at this whole business and I get the impression that the PS that came with my case is crapola.Heh 50+ has always just set off alarm bells in my head. No reason and good to hear that the temps I'm getting are reasonable. I was freaking out that my case's cooling sucked, 'cause I laid the fans out as best I could. What really freaked me out was the Core Center utility that MSI provides, gave some seriously weird temperatures. Now using Motherboard Monitor 5 and it seems to give much more reasonable temps. (Ex: Core Center would report temp at 55c idle, going down to 32c 10 seconds later, then 44 as soon as I moved the mouse.... all over the place. MbM5 seems to provide much more realistic scaling in the temps.)
As for Oklahoma, southwest part a bit up from the texas border- little town called Duncan. It's hot, it's humid, and I've already had to hide in the storm cellar a couple of times from nasty storms. Just moved here 2 months ago after being on the pacific my whole life. :D
