Maintaining state over a number of forms

I�m trying to get information from a number of different forms so I can then pass the information out to a cgi script, which in turn passes info to a pdf file. The problem I�m having is when a new form is loaded the information on the previous one disappears and I don�t know the best way (alright ..any way) to keep the previous form information. Can anyone help me as to the best way to move information along.

Have you considered creating a bean for each of the forms? I am no Java expert, but that sounds like a solution to me. Create a bean for each form(if they are diff and you can't factor comonalities into a single bean) and set the scope to be session. Then you should be able to access the data in each form and pass it on to whatever.
If you dont know how to do that, just read up on it in one of sites available here. I cant remebre any particular site that has specific tutorials on creating JavaBeans and using <jsp:useBean ...> stuff....you should be able to find it here or at www.jguru.com

Maintaining State with OAS 4.8 and PL/SQL

I am working on a package that displays 5 pages with 83 application questions. To maintain state for all 83 questions, I am using a procedure that maintains the data on a string (~400 characters) and passes it to each page (We decided to avoid writing to the database before the application is completed). Since the pages were expiring randomly, I added NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons. One procedure, the one that maintains the string, has 83 parameters.
The package contains 8-10 procedures, 180 constants and global variables (we tried without using global variables but global variables make the code easier to read and the package smaller (around 4000 lines). The complete application uses 4 packages.
During development, the package seemed to be working well, until I added more realistic data. Right now, I get The error message: The page cannot be found. The first time, I got this message, just by pressing enter again will cause the page to display. At times it will take 3 or 4 times pressing the enter key on the URL. Slowly, it became more and more difficult to make the browser display the first page. Today, no matter how many times I press the enter key, the page does not display.
Questions:
1. Are there any limits on parameters, global variables and data on OAS 4.08. I tested reducing the package parameters, global variables and data to half the size, but the procedure still does not display. Compiling an older copy of the procedure does not seem to work either.
2. Is there a better way to maintain state without writing to the database?
I am not sure what is causing the problem. I have an open TAR.

we can give space in the smartform in the same way as in the scripts with two commas one space can be given.
when u click on the text in the window ,
there in the general attributes at the left hand side u can find a small icon for editor in that u can define the spaces with the variable to be printed in &var&.

Make sure you are using the sign in option and not trying to create a new one. If you need to create a new ID...
Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another iOS device or Mac computer.

You can export any response as a PDF, which you can then archive.

Hide Tab order number in form fields

In Acrobat 7.0 Professional (I know it's old), how do you hide the the tab order number in form fields you create? When I type in the form fields I've created, the tab order shows up on screen and on the hardcopy printed document.

This is what I'm seeing, however I think we would like to know how to change the order.
For instance, I have formatted the form to have two columns of data entry: Personal info in column 1, product info in column 2. When the user types their name in column 1, row 1 for "Name" then go to tab down to "Email", it actually tabs right to column 2, row 1, "Product Year." Altering the tab order would fix this problem.

This is a scenario where XI calls into R3 proxy via inbound interface. I need to collect data across 3 calls and then write to the database. Yes I could move the logic to BPM, but I want to see if there is an option of have state in server proxy, if so I might be able eliminate BPM.

Advantages of Statement over PreparedStatement

I would like to know advantages of Statement over PreparedStatement. If we have PreparedStatement which uses pre-compiled sql statements then why we use Statement.

It is important to know the differences, it is also important to know that 99.9% of the time you should use PreparedStatement. Since this has been discussed 100's if not 1000's of times in this forum, first try searching this forum, I would be stunned if you didn't find all the information you need, but if you don't, ask again in this thread and I or others would be happy to list them for perhaps the 1001 time!

Ive been trying to use URL rewriting but been getting problems. I understand I can also achieve this using cookies.
Are there any other better ways of doing this.
I don�t know if the problem is with JBuilder4 or something in the Tomcat server?

I think if you use JavaBeans that implements Serializable , it might maintain state (but not sure of this).
HttpSession is one option but , sessions have limitations - they timeout, they don't work when the page is cached by the browser and they don't work if Cookies are disabled in the browser.
Database is always an option, and there are two types of DBs , in-memory like HSQLDB etc , or the regular RDBMS like MySQL , Oracle etc.
If you only want to maintain state between HttpRequests, then use the request object which is implicit in JSPs.
I think your URL Encoding is not working most likely because you have disabled Cookies in your browser and that's why you see jsessionid.
If you enable Cookies in your browser then, the jsessionid should not appear.
There are other options I'm sure, but I'm only aware of the above at this time.... may be someone else might know more.

Actually I tried several combinations but the (b-a )+a didnt work for me.
It always gives me 4000000000 is out of range. Without the 32768 also its that way.

Updating a field for a number of forms from an external table

Good Day All;
This one I could not find in the help section.
I have designed a number of forms that all use the same “rates of pay” (there are 4 categories) for calculating. I was told to expect that a few more forms will be required and these new forms will also be using the same “rates of pay”
Currently I am using “switch” to insert the “rates of pay” when the user selects a category from a dropdown.
Is there a way I can update all the forms from an external “table” instead of having to update each form individually?

Hi,
If the form is Reader enabled with Acrobat, then that is going to cut out data connectons.

Auto number each form when distributing by email

I need to assign a number to each form during or before emailing, anyway to do that with scripting? Thanks for all the help, I am getting so close to having everything I need for this form.

1) Create a hidden field and use a FormCalc function to get the date-time when the form is opened

There are many techniques including the creation of a random number using the JavaScript math.random() method.

Hi Arvind, your best bet might be to pass the filter value via a QueryString and then apply a QueryString filter to those other pages. Overview of QueryString Filters:
