Make a DAD time-out

We are currently running 9iAS 1.0.2.1 on Solaris.
We have a link from our portal that we want to expire after 10 minutes of use. We figured we could configure a special DAD to time-out after that period, but it does not appear that this is an option. Am I missing something? Has anyone done anything like this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom Hillson

Checking out how to time out the connection would be the best practice as said already, but for the purpose of providing an example of one way to time out a method, you could look at the following;
1. Create a Runnable class to perform your queries, and another Runnable class responsible for interrupting the first Runnable after a specified time.
public class WorkerThread implements Runnable
                private String query;
     public WorkerThread(String query)
          this.query = query;
     public void run()
          Thread thread = new Thread(new TimerThread(30000));
          thread.start();
          try
               // INSERT CODE TO SUBMIT YOUR QUERY
               thread.interrupt();
          catch(Exception e)
               e.printStackTrace();
public class TimerThread implements Runnable
     private long sleepTime;
     private Thread parent;
     public TimerThread(long sleepTime)
          this.sleepTime = sleepTime;
          this.parent = Thread.currentThread();
     // Run
     public void run()
          try
               Thread.sleep(sleepTime);
               parent.interrupt();
          catch(Exception e)
}2. Run the first Runnable for each query within your method, and join the threads to it
for-loop
    //query1
    //query2
    //query3
    //query4
    Thread t1 = new Thread(new WorkerThread(query1));
    t1.start();
    t1.join();
    Thread t2 = new Thread(new WorkerThread(query1));
    t2.start();
    t2.join();
    etc...
    do more stuff
}

  • ICM Req still open after time out

    Hi,
    We are using BPS web interfaces. If a user gets a time out on the web (thru our Portal), the ICM Req is not closed.
    As a result, the user cannot re-execute its function as he gets locked by himself.
    We also had a few cases when the user is able to execute again a function after a time out and when saving, saves the results of both the first and second function (the first function was probably still buffered).
    Any idea what we can do to make sure a time out leads to the deletion of the ICM Req ?
    Thanks
    David

    Use Transaction code SMICM and select SERVICES (shift+f1) Enable HTPP option go to menu bar select SERVICES and select
    CHANGE option and select MAX PROCESSING time is like 3600(As you wish).
    You will get a POPUP accept it.

  • Page time outs

    I am able to make a page time out when a submit is done after a session variable definition has timed out.
    Now I am being asked to make all pages (they are in frames) time out after a certain time.
    Is there an automatic or standard way of doing this?

    I don't know enough about the technical details of Firefox to comment.
    I just found this issue to be very odd. There were a few threads that discussed dns issues and the possibility of a person's isp having switched servers, causing some dns to fail and causing the timeouts. I released and renewed my real isp ip address and that did not matter and since IE was working, I really didn't expect it to. What I have seen from experience is that when you're trying to access some web site and dns isn't working, you see the site name in the lower left and it doesn't
    resolve to an ip; the name just sits there until you get an error. That is exactly what was happening to me. I noted that familytreedna.com just sat there in the lower left until the timeout occured. I then put in the whole address (www.familytreedna.com without the http://) and it worked fine. Then the prepend started working again if I only put familytreedna.com as I always had. Your problem may not be the same, but it could be related, as you say in a sort of preparation phase. I wonder if you were to type in one of your problem addresses that normally comes from a book mark and just go to it manually. Does that work? I wondered if like my issue, it might sort of refresh it in some way. In any case, I wonder if during the waiting period...do you see the web site name in the lower left - unresolved?

  • How to make it repleatedly printed out by using timer??

    Dear Friends:
    I have following code to run, When I press R to repeat println, only 1 line print out,
    But I hope to make it continueously print out.
    How to make it repleatedly printed out until I press CTRL + C key ??

    import java.util.*;
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
    import java.io.*;
    public class CertainAndRepeatTime{
      public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException{
        int delay = 1;
        Timer timer = new Timer();
        ActionListener actionListener = new ActionListener() {
            public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
              System.out.println("Hello World Timer");
        System.out.println("What do you want (Certain time or Repeat time)?");
        System.out.print("Please enter \'C\' or \'R\' for that: ");
        BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
        String ans = in.readLine();
        System.out.print("Please enter  ans=" + ans  + " IsTrue=  " + (ans.equals("R") || ans.equals("r")) +"\n");
        if (ans.equals("C") || ans.equals("c")){
          //System.out.println("This line is printed only once start...");
          timer.schedule(new TimerTask(){
            public void run(){
              System.out.println("This line is printed only once.");
          },delay,1);
        else if(ans.equals("r") || ans.equals("R")){
          timer.schedule(new TimerTask(){
            public void run(){
              System.out.println("This line is printed repeatedly.");
          },delay, 1000);
        else{
          System.out.println("Invalid Entry.");
          System.exit(0);
        System.exit(0);
    }

    The Timer is working fine, but because it runs in another Thread, your program is ending before the Timer can repeat.
    The simplest way to make your program wait until it is force-quitted as you describe would be to make an infinite loop (although this isn't very good practice), like this:
        else if(ans.equals("r") || ans.equals("R")){
          timer.schedule(new TimerTask(){
            public void run(){
              System.out.println("This line is printed repeatedly.");
          },delay, 1000);
        while(true){} //This will make your main thread hang.
        }A better way, though, would be to listen again with your System.in reader until they enter a letter that means quit.

  • New ipad mini retina cannot select "never" for time out period. It makes the product useless for such things as navigation and frustrating for reading

    Must add the never option to the time out period or the product is useless for navigation and other purposes where continual use is required.

    This should be an option in the General settings on your iPad. The option is called Auto-Lock. There should be the following options: 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and Never.
    If you select Never, that should stop the screen from going to sleep automatically. If the Never option is not present, you more than likely have a Exchange account synced with the device that does not allow that option. If that account is disabled, that option should show.

  • Trying to figure out how to make a countdown timer...

    Okay, so I finished my Java class for the semester (I got an A) =) and I'm trying to learn to make a countdown timer in my spare time. I just want something that I can add the date and time of what I'm counting down to into it and then just a simple GUI that sits on my desktop counting away. Of course the problem is I've never used time before in any of my assignments and so I'm really not sure how any of it should work. Anyone know any tutorials or methods/classes that could help me with something like this?
    Thanks

    I made something similar to that, it counts down in either seconds/minutes/hours/days to a specific date. I ended up doing a Google search and found a useful class called DateUtil that someone had written. It was very useful for doing all the nasty Calendar work and that kind of thing.
    Besides that, the GUI should be really easy, especially if you have already done a semester of Java. I used an uneditable TextField.
    Anyhow, I can put up some more detail if you need it, just ask.

  • Session time out app store

    I keep getting session time out whenever I try to purchase apps on iPhone 5. It keeps asking me to verify my credit card security number and then when I click DONE, it tells me session time out. Anyone can help?

    Having problem with internet connectivity on WIFI - anything that depends on DNS for data whether it is a web browser or an app while using WIFI.  I call this problem "WIFI Lockout".
    This happens on iphone 4, ipad 2 and ipad 3 that has been updated to iOS 6.
    I am not talking about the issue of the missing apple page (day 1) or the inability to turn on/configure WIFI after updating to iOS 6.
    This is what i have discovered so far.
    You could be in the middle of surfing or using any app that makes data calls based on DNS (when you type google.com that is translated in the background so your device knows where to go - summary only) and suddenly you can go no where or do nothing!
    Sometimes conectivity goes trouble free for long periods, other times it is repetitive "WIFI Lockout".
    Yea sure, you can restart the WIFI connection, but WHO wants to CONTINUALLY do that?
    Interestingly enought the device is still successfully connected to the internet via WIFI, but DNS request fail to pass successfully from the iOS 6 device.
    Apple (or any curious iOS 6 user that wants to see my point), when this happens "WIFI Lockout" open up a browser before you reset the WIFI  connection and type type 74.125.227.144 (google) and then “go” (I tried both safari and chrome).  A google search page will come up and you will be able to execute a search (of course any link you click on will not work as it is dependant on DNS resolution).
    The above IP connection to google proves NON DNS traffic works, so the issue is not the WIFI connection to the access point that is the problem.  It is not an access point configuration/firmware or security protocol issue either because data does pass when the above steps are followed.
    I KNOW THIS IS NOT ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH iOS 6, BUT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM NOT BEING ABLE TO SURF OR GET DATA THE iOS 6 DEVICE IS REQUESTING WHILE ON WIFI.

  • Session Time Out For UNLOGGED IN USER During Search -pls help SIR!

    Hi,
    The problem lies in searchresultscontroller.java/searchcontroller.java file under search/web/handler of an application that supports educational note sharing.
    The problem is that -
    When I search with query strings in different fields(as you will find in the above mentioned java files)..the keywords in resourcedto and get some files as search results.
    Then I click on one of the file from within the search result and visit the file.
    Here if I m logged in as an user, and the session time out is set to 1 minute in the web.xml file of the web folder not the admin folder then when I hit the BACK TO SEARCH button it easily goes back to the previous search result page along with the queries string that I had input previously.
    The problem is that when I m NOT LOGGED in as an user, and I've performed a search with queries and other dropdowns in the search panel, I get the search result page, I visit the file by clicking on one of them but when I hit the BACK TO SEARCH button I don't see the previous search result page from where I had navigated to view the file.
    Please suggest on what changes shall I make in the code so that even if I m not logged in as an user, I get back to the search result page on hitting the BACK TO SEARCH button from the file view page.Sir I m herein pasting the code of the searchresultscontroller.java file, but please feel free to ask for anyother file whose code you might want to see.SEARCHRESULTSCONTROLLER.JAVA FILE CONTENT-

  • Session Time out - Relogin not redirecting

    Hi,
    If I am in a particular page of an application, and session times out, I get Page Expired window. On click of that, it takes me to login page. After I relogin, it is NOT redirecting me to the page where the time out happened. It just redirects to the Application Main page. Is there a way to let ADF redirect to the page where time out happened?
    Thanks,

    Hi Aluvala,
    Based on the current description, I understand that you would like to change the error message to custom message. The issue relates to Render Extension. Currently, the behavior which changes the error message to custom message is not supported. Therefore,
    I would suggest you submitting a wish at
    https://connect.microsoft.com/sql. Connect site is a connection point between you and Microsoft, and ultimately the larger community. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be, and you can learn about and contribute
    to exciting projects.
    If you still want to make custom render message, you can try to create custom render extension while it is not easy.
    Hope this helps.

  • Application session time out

    Hello
    i have an application deployed on weblogic 11. after 30mins the application session times out.
    1.how can increase this time.
    2. can this be done in weblogic since on the application side there is no configuration for the time out.
    please assist me
    Thanks

    Hello;
    On middleware the default should be 3600 seconds.
    To change :
    Login to the WebLogic Administration Console
    Under domain structure click Deployments
    Click on the "em" Enterprise Application
    Click on the Configuration Tab
    Set "Session Timeout (in seconds):" to 7200 ( or whatever you want )
    Hit the Save button to save your changes in the deployment plan
    I would make sure an idle timeout in not set in the database profile as well.
    Best Regards

  • Session Time out  and session_timeout.jsp

    We have Sun Java Identity Server 2005 Q1 installed as part of our Sun Java System Portal Server 2005 Q1 install.
    When the authentication session times out, it redirects the user back to the login page. I remember that in 6.2 it used to show up the session_timeout.jsp page? Is there any way to make it work that way in Q1 2005 ?

    To be more specific, find your top level desktop display profile (marked as Default Channel Name) container name. Then go to Portal desktop type (default, or sampleportal, or...) with above container directory. (ex: /etc/opt/SUNSWps/desktop/default/JSPTabContainer) Modify header.jsp and/or menubar.jsp (something ...?action=logout with goto=http:///.....) HTH, Jerry

  • Session time-out and password security

    Hi,
    I have a webservice utility, deployed on several platforms (as an EAR on weblogic and webspere, as a WAR on tomcat), they all exhibit the same feature: on first connection, a username/password box pops up, but after the session times out (after 20 minutes or so of inactivity) and the it receives a new page request, instead of re-asking for the username/password, the app just jumps back to its own start page, and then continues without asking.
    How can I make it to pop-up the username/password box again?
    The security is implemented through the web.xml file:
    <security-constraint>
        <web-resource-collection>
          <web-resource-name>Success</web-resource-name>
          <url-pattern>/Logparser</url-pattern>
          <http-method>GET</http-method>
          <http-method>POST</http-method>
        </web-resource-collection>
        <auth-constraint>
          <role-name>webuser</role-name>
        </auth-constraint>
      </security-constraint>
      <login-config>
        <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
        <realm-name>default</realm-name>
      </login-config>
      <security-role>
        <role-name>webuser</role-name>
      </security-role>I found that this in itself was not good enough security as you would be able to go directly to one of the sub-pages (if you know the url), and to prevent that I pass (and check) the session-id with each page request.
    (all java servlets).
    Obviously something is missing, but I don't know what
    thanks
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    Your web application is currently configured to use BASIC authentication.
    Instead if you use FORM-based authentication, then any new request (after your web application session times out) will be redirected to the login page. The Servlet specification has more information about FORM-based login.
    If you have a Sun ONE Web Server 6.1 or a Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 installation you can find a sample that uses form-login in the following directory
    6.1: <install-directory>/plugins/java/samples/webapps/security/form-auth
    7.0: <install-directory>/samples/java/webapps/security/form-auth
