  • Apache Error During the Installation of Oracle 10g Infrastructure

    Hi,
I am installing the Oracle 10g Infrastructure.During the OPMN Configuration Assistant Installation, i encountered the Apache error. The error is failed to start a managed process after the maximum entry limit. I tried this command: opmnctl startproc ias-component=HTTP_Server but still the windows displays this message: Apache.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I open the logs located at <ORACLE_HOME>\opmn\logs\HTTP_Server.log, the logs says Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?. I tried to uninstall using deconfiguration.pl but the program says that its ok to use the Universal installer. I uninstall then deleted the entries at the registry and then reinstall it, but still, it displays the error. Are there any solution that can solve this problem?
I am installing in windows xp service 2. My oracle infrastructure version is 10.1.2

    Hi,
There is no error_log file under this directory: <ORACLE_HOME>/Apache/Apache/logs. Maybe the cause is the conflict of computer name. I'll keep you posted as long as I finish installing the application.

    Hi Elmar,
I have checked the packages and the XFree86-libs-4.3.99 is not installed. I guess I will have to install it.
Now your question about oracle user. I am not sure if you have performed any SAP MDM installation with ORACLE RDBMS but the installation guide is totally different than the normal SAP inst guides. Indeed someone needs to install separately SAP MDM and ORACLE and in my installation I do not install NetWeaver since it is not mandatory for the testing phase of the project. You can have a look at the guide (it is very poor -no reference to ORACLE details):
    https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000271882007E
So the official ORACLE inst gudie says to install the ORACLE software with the oracle user.

  • Problems with the installation if oracle 10g

    hi everybody,
I am using windows xp pro service pack 2. While trying install
oracle 10g. I faced a problem 'Error in writing to
    directiory c:\document and settings\Owner\Local
    Settings\TEMP\OraInstall. Please ensure that this
directory is writable and has at least 45 MB of disk
space. Installation cannot continue.' I have 40GB disk
space left and i am logged in as an administrator with all privileges.
    thanks
    mfg RR

I think I remember encountering something similar on the very same platform (XP pro, 10g (or 9i second ed.) and 2nd service pack). I am using Windows Services for Unix (SFU - a free download from Microsoft @ http://www.microsoft.com/windows/sfu/default.asp ). I used SFU from within a command tool to change the privileges. If you are a unix person who are trying to do things like installing/managing Oracle on windows, I highly recommend installing SFU. After I changed the privileges, it worked just fine. Currently I am running 9.2.0.5 on windows xp pro and testing 10g on another xp pro box. Both installation was successful.
    hope this proves useful

    Hello,
When trying to install OWB10g for Linux, the error to proceed is presented:
"Error in invoking 'install' of makefile '/oracle/OWB10g/plsql/lib/ins_plsql.mk'."
The DB is 9.2.0.5 and the SO is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.
    Trankful for the attenction.
    Marcos Freitas

    Marcos,
We have seen these makefile errors on Solaris if ORACLE_HOME is not set to OWB before start of OUI install.
If OWB is installing to /home/owb, ORACLE_HOME needs to point to /home/owb even if the dir does not exist before the start of Install.
    Can you please try that?
    Thanks,
    Mark.

Take a look at the OS requirements located in the Oracle installation notes. You will need to have the required RPMs and kernel settings before installing Oracle for the correct architecture. For a 64-bit architecture, you will also be required to install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of certain packages. It's all in the release notes.

  • During the installation of grid infra(cluster) for Oracle 11.2 RAC one.

Good Day All, and thanks in advance…
During the installation of grid infrastructure(cluster) for Oracle 11.2 RAC One Node on AIX6.1 ( PROD) , ASM used. I am getting below errors when executing ./root.sh
Upon investigation ,I managed to get note: 1068212.1 from the support oracle site ( see below for details) . I might be hitting Unpublished bug 8670579. I also logged Severity 2 SR with Oracle support to get the bug/patch fix and no one has attended the call.
This might be configuration issue or otherwise , if you have experienced the same issue please assist ? ( if you need more logfiles please feel free to request)….
I ran the Cluster Verify Check – all passed.

    Hi,
We are also trying to install 11.2.0.2 Grid infrastructure for Oracle RAC One Node on AIX 6.1. We did a POC in our lab environment and after much struggle got that working. Now we are building 4 clusters in the production environment and the first cluster installation failed while running root.sh on node2. We already have a Sev1 ticket open with Oracle Support but have not heard anything.
Here is root.sh output from node2. The two node names are p01dou416 and p01dou417.
CRS-4402: The CSS daemon was started in exclusive mode but found an active CSS daemon on node p01dou416, number 1, and is terminating

  • Installation of OracleAS 10g on Red Hat Linux ES 3.0

Installation of Oracle AS 10g on RedHat ES 3.0
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3
    Copy from OTN Note
    Start
Oracle 10g is certified to run the base release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (Advanced Server and Enterprise Server) without updates. If you have update CDs, you can use the boot CD from the update instead of the boot CD from the base release to automatically apply all updates during the installation. All updates from Red Hat are supported by Oracle.
    1.     Boot the server using the first CD.
o     You may need to change your BIOS settings to allow booting from the CD.
    2.     The boot screen appears with the boot: prompt at the bottom of the screen.
o     Select Enter to continue with a graphical install on the console. (For other installation methods and options, refer to the Red Hat Installation Guide.)
o     The installer scans your hardware, briefly displays the Red Hat splash screen, and then begins a series of screen prompts.
    3.     Language Selection
    o     Accept the default.
    4.     Keyboard Configuration
    o     Accept the default.
    5.     Welcome Screen
    o     Click on Next.
    6.     Mouse Configuration
    o     Accept the default.
    7.     Installation Type
    o     Select Custom.
    8.     Disk Partitioning Setup
o     A thorough treatment of disk partitioning is beyond the scope of this article, which assumes that you are familiar with disk partitioning methods.
(WARNING: Improperly partitioning a disk is one of the surest and fastest ways to wipe out everything on your hard disk. If you are unsure how to proceed, stop and get help, or you will risk losing data!)
This article uses the following partitioning scheme, with ext3 for each filesystem:
The 9GB disk on the first controller (/dev/sda) will hold all Linux and Oracle software and contains the following partitions:
    - 100MB /boot partition
-1,500MB swap partition—Set this to at least twice the amount of RAM in the system but to no more than 2GB (32-bit systems do not support swap files larger than 2GB). If you need more than 2GB of swap space, create multiple swap partitions.
-7,150MB root partition— This partition will be used for everything, including /usr, /tmp, /var, /opt, /home, and more. This was done purely to simplify installation for the purposes of this guide. A more robust partitioning scheme would separate these directories onto separate filesystems.
    9.     Boot Loader Configuration
    o     Accept the default.
    10.     Network Configuration
o     It is usually best to configure database servers with a static IP address. To do so, click on Edit.
o     A pop-up window appears. Uncheck the Configure using DHCP box, and enter the IP Address and Netmask for the server. Be sure that Activate on boot is checked, and click on OK.
o     In the Hostname box, select manually and enter the hostname.
o     In the Miscellaneous Settings box, enter the remaining network settings.
    11.     Firewall Configuration
o     For the purposes of this walk-through, no firewall is configured. Select No firewall.
    12.     Additional Language Support
    o     Accept the default.
    13.     Time Zone Selection
o     Choose the time settings that are appropriate for your area. Setting the system clock to UTC is usually a good practice for servers. To do so, click on System clock uses UTC.
    14.     Set Root Password
o     Enter a password for root, and enter it again to confirm.
    15.     Package Group Selection
o     Select only the package sets shown here. Leave all others unselected.
    o     Desktop
    - X Window System
    - Gnome
    - KDE
    - See my comments in the RHES 2.1 section regarding choice of GUI.

    16.     About to Install
    o     Click on Next.
    17.     Installing Packages
o     Software will be copied to the hard disk and installed. Change disks as prompted, and click on Next when the installation is complete.
    18.     Graphical Interface (X) Configuration
o     Accept the defaults unless the installer does not recognize your video card. If your video card is not recognized, you will not be able to continue.
    19.     Monitor Configuration
o     Accept the default if the installer correctly identifies your monitor. Otherwise, select a compatible monitor from the list.
    20.     Customize Graphical Configuration
    o     Accept the defaults.
    21.     Congratulations
o     Remove the installation media from the system, and click on Next.
    22.     The system automatically reboots and presents a new welcome screen.
    o     Click on Next.
    23.     License Agreement
o     Read the license agreement. If you agree to the terms, select Yes, I agree to the License Agreement and click on Next.
    24.     Date and Time
o     Set the Date and Time.
o     If you want to use an NTP server (recommended), select Enable Network Time Protocol and enter the name of the NTP server.
    25.     User Account
o     Create an account for yourself.
o     Do not create an account for oracle at this time. Creating the oracle account is covered later in this section.
    26.     Red Hat Network

    Export TMPDIR
    ORACLE_BASE=/oracle
    Export ORACLE_BASE
    ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/appsrv/infra
    Export ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_SID=asdb     (if u will not define SID here then while starting database u will face an error ORA-07217:sltn:environment variable cannot be evaluated)
    Export ORACLE_SID
    PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin
    Export PATH
PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin     (u can include command paths like dcm as u needed)
    Export PATH

Copy this file with name as.env and change ORACLE_HOME from infra to as.
    . ./infra.env
    DISPLAY=localhost:0.0; export DISPLAY
    Xhost +
Now u can check that DISPLAY is ok by run the command xclock if clock appears then ok else set DISPLAY with root user ok
Start installation from CD 1 .
    . ./runInstaller
Press Y               (There is no need to disturb, upgrade, degrade any package)
    Press Y
Installation will start while installing and reaches at ~50% then go to /oracle/appsrv/infra/bin open relink file and change at line # 50 i.e. remove 2 brackets
    ] –o [  and at line # 102 make= /usr/ccs/bin/make to /usr/bin/make remove ccs and save the file
There will no error in installation in infrastructure
Same as done with relink file in Middle tier installation. I would like to turn ur attention for a serious problem no one asked about it. Here u have seen that a script make 3 file in /usr/local/bin for infrastructure and middle tier when u finished infrastructure’s installation plz rename that 3 files as
    Mv coredb coredb-infra
    Mv dbhome dbhome-infra
    Mv ora     â€¦     ora…-infra
If u overwrite that files by creating same name of middle tier files no problem.
    When problem comes?
AS will work fine but when u have to install patches on AS then problem comes if u have overwrite that files. So plz rename them before creation of same files of middle tier. Thanx

  • Question about SAP installation with Oracle 10g

I have successfully installed Oracle 10g on Windows server 2008 R2 64bit. I can connect to the database using mysql or through command prompt and run SQL commands.
I started installing the SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ("51038620_13      BS 7 SR1 Installation Master Windows Server on x64 64bit") The installation goes very smooth. I choose the SAPSID and the DBSID sid, but then it gives an error stating to install oracle and continue or stop the installation & install Oracle. I have tried on continuing the installation since Oracle is already installed but I get the same message again and again.
Does it have to do with ORACLE 10g Sid. My Oracle SID is set to "ORCL" should it be the same as DBSID (during SAP Installation). Or the Oracle needs to be installed after SAP installation gets to the point for Oracle Installation. Please assist what needs to be changed. I can reinstall Oracle if needed. Any tips or comments would be nice.

You can't "change". You installed the Oracle software using "setup.exe" - which is wrong. You also created an example database - which is also not correct.
The Oracle software is installed, according to the installation guide, as
    - start "sapserver.cmd" on the Oracle DVD (the SAP media)
    - install the software according to the installation guide
    - install the latest patchset
    - install the latest PSU patch
    --> and then start sapinst.
