Making a Java Server program talk with Word97

Hi
I realise that this is slightly off topic but I am now getting desperate, and would appreciate some help.
I need help with how to get some info transfered from a java server
program that is listening on a given port into my Word97.
The idea is for the Word to send a request to the server and get a
simple short text response back.
I can handle the Java side of things OK, just how do I get word VBA to
send a request to a given URL and get a response back. Word can get
web pages so I would guess it should be able to do this. I have looked
for other ways to do this transfer (eg CORBA) and so far no joy.
thanks
Efran

HI
Yes I did try a few of the vbs forums first since as you say they are more appropiate, but zero response!
And now the deadline looms and still no solution, All I need to do is make Word and a Java programme communicate. Either with the Java as a Server or even a simple RTF copy and paste from Java to Word. But the problem with the one is when I paste it pastes as simple text. I have read the java tutorials on RTF and cpy/paste and the code given pastes as std text not RTF.
Any help would be appreciated
& thanks for the help

  • Java server program on Linux problem

    Ok, i've written a simple java server using java.nio and have tested it on my windows machine. Then people can connect and it works as it should.
    However, when i run the server on my linux box it starts as it should, but no users can connect to it. Its like the connections never come through to the java program... What can cause this? Some firewall stuff etc?
    I've tested running a server written in C on the same port (both the java and the c server uses TCP) and then people can connect to it without any problems.
    So it seems to be some security thing in java, or in linux in connection with java programs.
    Anyone can enlight me on how to get the java server to work?
    Best wishes

    What version of the JDK are you using, and which linux kernel?

  • Values in Public Static Object between Server Program & Servlet Program

    Hi all.
    I don't understand how to solve this problem.
    I am trying to refer a shared variable(file) at webbrowser & sever demon program at the same time.
    my code is..
    <pre>
    // write program ( called by server p/g & servlet p/g )
    public class WriteWhat
    public synchronized static String write(String what) throws Exception
    String FileName = "/home/myAccount/testFile";
    char intxt[] = new char[LogData.length()];
    what.getChars(0,what.length(),intxt,0);
    try // if File Exist
    FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(FileName,true);
    fw.write(intxt);
    fw.close();
    catch(Exception e) // if File NOT Exist
    finally
    return(FileName);
    </pre>
    The Testfile is updated fine at servlet program called
    but does Not Work at SERVER PROGRAM CALL (with No Error Message)....T.T
    sorry about my english...but you will know what I mean.
    Regard, devport.

    to be clear, you want 2 programs to append to the same file...
    FileWriter 's constructor may fail (throw an exception) if the file is already open (depends on operating system)
    you really should use the catch(IOException){
    to give you or your program a better idea of whats going on...
    what operating system are you using, or does this code need to work anywhere?

  • Making a java program on network

    Hi,
    I am not an expert in java. So far all my small programs were for fun but now I am thinking of making a small CRM program to help my friend in his business.
    His office has two computers which are networked. So this small program which I am going to make for him to record phone calls, should be of networking program type. This is one the reason why I want to do this, because I have never done this before.
    Users from both the computer will be using the program simultaneously.
    Can you please give me some idea how to get started for some thing like this? I mean, I just dont know any thing about making a program run over network.
    Thank you,

    First you need to find a decent little database... the JavaDB would be fine for this or pretty much any DBMS. I prefer Oracle implementations. Then you need to find out how JDBC works and how to work with multiuser Databases.
    I also strongly recommend you spend some time HERE, learning more about Java.

  • Java Concurrent Program - connecting to MS SQL Server

    Hi,
    I hope this is correct forum to post this question.
    I am writing a JCP which will connect to a MS SQL Server DB, pull data from a table and populate this data into a custome table in EBS (R12.1.1) database. But I am facing some issues.
    When I run run this concurrent program from EBS, I get following exception message:
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: In openConection()
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: Before Loading Driver com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: openConection() ClassNotFoundException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: Before Calling processPrintMachineRecords()
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: Exception:: java.lang.NullPointerException
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: In closeSQLServerConnection().......closing JDBC Connection
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: Connection object was null, hence skipping close
    Wed Aug 08 01:18:04 GMT 2012: After Calling processPrintMachineRecords()
    The I read somewhere on internet that I should set CLASSPATH in options field of concurrent program definition. So I provided classpath as follows:
    -cp /rs01/u02/applmgr/utyeb02/apps/apps_st/appl/au/12.0.0/appsborg.zip:/rs01/u02/applmgr/utyeb02/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/apps.zip:/rs01/u02/applmgr/utyeb02/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/sqljdbc_4.0/enu/sqljdbc.jar
    In this classpath sqljdbc.jar contains the classes for connecting to MS SQL Server DB. However after giving classpath like this I started getting different error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/apps/fnd/cp/request/Run
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request.Run
         at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200)
         at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)

         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:251)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:319)
    It appears from the error message that after giving this CLASSPATH, program was not able to find the "Run" method itself. In otherwords, CLASSPATH screwed it further.
    Can anybody please point out what am I doing wrong here?

    Your DB connection is probably failing
    As a result your result set "rs" is null when you get to it later on, causing a null pointer exception.
    Do you need to provide a username/password for your database?
    Have you configured your database to allow connections from localhost?
    If you haven't already figured it out, doing SQL programming in a JSP is bad practice. Put your SQL code into a java bean / class where it belongs.

    tr.connect(MailHost, user, pass);
    message.saveChanges(); // don't forget this
    tr.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients());
    tr.close();

  • Help with a server program

    Hello,
    I don't know much about threading, but I've got this server program (code follows). And where it does this... :
                        // Create a new thread for the connection
                        HandleAClient thread = new HandleAClient(connectToClient);
                        cn = clientNo;
                        // Start the new thread
                        thread.start();I need it to create another instance of the client program that accessing it with the same thread(I think, as i said I don't know much about threads). That way when a remote user accesses the client program, the server will automatically open another client program on the machine the server is running on. Then while their both using the same thread, they'll be able to speak back and forth without anyone else getting their text.
    Does this make sense? Can anyone help?
    Here is the server code, I don't have it perfected yet to send the text, but the clients will regester with the server.

  • How to integrate a class with template.java - Java Concurrent Program. 11i

    Hello, I have a java class I got from a vendor. This java class needs to run through as concurrent program. As per metalink note *How To Create a Java Concurrent Program? [ID 827563.1]* it says that, we must require template.java to wrap around the custom class. I have done that in the following java code. However, being a new java guy, I really dont know how to connect these two classes and constructor.
    Any suggestions about how do I make these classes work in order to run from a concurrent program?

  • Issue with class loading -  Java concurrent Program

    Hi ,
    We are facing a strange issue for one of our customer.
    Scenario :
    We have a Java Concurrent Program (A.java ) which refers another Java class (B.java) , we modified the file B.java for a fix and created a patch. after applying the patch and bouncing the apache ,we found that B.java is loaded the old version of the class file.
    We asked them to restart the concurrent manager and related services, still we see that old version of B.java is loaded. (confirmed by adding code throwing exception - throw new Exception from a specific line and found that its not getting thrown at run-time)
    Any clue on this?.
    Thanks
    Joseph George

    Deployed this file both tier - Database server tier and Application server tier.
    I have face same issue, Concurrent program not picking file application server tier. its picking file from database server tier.
    Thanks, Avaneesh

  • Implementing SQL Server Reporting Services with a Java EE Application

    Hi All,
    I need to find some tutorial on
    "Implementing SQL Server Reporting Services with a Java EE Application"
    for my j2EE application.
    Until now i have searched a lot of sites but have not any thing related to this topic.
    I am using apache axis along with SQL Server Report Manager for creating the sql server reports.
    I have done upto :
    Creating the webservice with the help of report manager.
    Now i want to connect it through my j2EE application and want to retrieve some data from that web service.
    I have got stuck on the following BOLD lines in my code .
    code:
    public CatalogItem[] getData(String res, String searchStr) throws RemoteException     {
                  ReportingService2005Soap port = null;
                  ReportingService2005Locator loc = new ReportingService2005Locator();
                  // Retrieve a port from the service locator
                  try {
                       port = loc.getReportingService2005Soap(new java.net.URL(res));
                  } catch (MalformedURLException e) {
                       // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                       e.printStackTrace();
                  } catch (ServiceException e) {
                       // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                       e.printStackTrace();
                  org.apache.axis.client.Stub stub = (org.apache.axis.client.Stub) port;
                  stub.setUsername("localhost\\Administrator");
                  stub.setPassword("servWIN@2007");
                  // Retrieve a port from the service locator
                  SearchCondition condition = new SearchCondition();
                  condition.setCondition(ConditionEnum.Contains);
                  condition.setName("Name");
                  if (searchStr != null)
                  condition.setValue(searchStr);
                  else
                  condition.setValue("");
        //           Create an array of SearchConditions which will contain our single search condition
                  SearchCondition[] conditions;
                  conditions = new SearchCondition[1];
                  conditions[0] = condition;
        //           Call the Web service with the appropriate CatalogItem[] returnedItems;
                  CatalogItem[] returnedItems = null;
                  port.findItems("foldername",BooleanOperatorEnum.Or, conditions);
                  return returnedItems;
             }i.e. while executing the findItems() method i got the following exception :
    System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The item '/reportingservices' cannot be found. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ItemNotFoundException: The item '/reportingservices' cannot be found.
    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.RSService.FindItems(String folder, String operation, SearchCondition[] properties)
    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.WebServer.ReportingService2005Impl.FindItems(String Folder, BooleanOperatorEnum BooleanOperator, SearchCondition[] Conditions, CatalogItem[]& Items)
    Any any body has any idea please help me.
    I need it urgently.
    Regards.

    The above example is mentioned in msdn virtual lab that teaches how to connect to reporting services from a j2ee application.
    I have done the same thing .. but i am not able to render the report programmatically .. if anybody knows pls let me know the solution.
