Making a menu

I have created and exported a menu bar into my site that works perfectly. The menu consists of a series of rollover buttons and cosmetic images. As I said the menu works as it should, the only thing I can't figure out is how to make the button of the active page stay in its down state. In the script that gets exported with the images, there are onmouseover and onmouseout attributes associated with each button. Is there a way to add an onclick or something to make the selected button stay in the down state?  Here is the html for the menu that got generated:
<div style="background-color:#ffffff; width:985px;" onload="MM_preloadImages('playbox%20menu_r1_c1_f2.jpg','playbox%20menu_r1_c2_f2.jpg','pla ybox%20menu_r1_c3_f2.jpg','playbox%20menu_r1_c4_f2.jpg','playbox%20menu_r1_c5_f2.jpg','pla ybox%20menu_r1_c6_f2.jpg');">
                <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="985">
                      <tr>
                           <td><img src="spacer.gif" width="109" height="1" border="0" alt="" /></td>
                           <td><img src="spacer.gif" width="109" height="1" border="0" alt="" /></td>

Any suggestions from all of you seasoned vets out there?

The seasoned vets will all tell you not to use a graphics program to write your code for you.
Fireworks is, basically, a graphics program. Even if its code did exactly what you want, it is better to create fresh code, either in a program that is designed for writing code (such as Dreamweaver) or write it by hand. That, or buy a professional menu system (such as from Project VII).
If you want the button to stay down when you have the drop down open, what event restores it? That code will have to be written, and the proper conditions that fire it will have to be added. Is it a timer? If you mouse over some other active element? You'd have to think that out carefully, otherwise all your buttons will soon be in their down states and then what?

  • Sub Folders in Symbian Belle making the menu slow!...

    Hi,
    I have about 200+ apps and games installed on my Nokia 701(On mass memory and memeory card).
    Making subfolders in the menu and moving menu items to that folder and adding that folder to the homescreen is a cool option, but navigating between subfolder and main menu takes significant time.
    If you enter subfolder it takes time and when you press back again it takes time untill search button appears! We cannot even scroll untill it appears. Why the phones lagging in scrolling?
    Also i cannot scroll the mail widget!
    I mean you cannot scroll continuously, if you try to scroll continously every other scroll attempt makes the scroll to stop!!!

  • Making a Menu in the command console w/ a While loop

    Hello,
    I need to design a menu in the command console that allows the user to enter a choice, and after doing so will bring the user back to the original menu of options.
    Now I already have set up the menu and I got it working so the user can enter their choice however my questions is, I know I need to use a while loop, but how would I go about doing so in order to have it set up that after a choice is entered it displays the results and then goes back up to the original menu.
    I know these new versions of Java do not have a simple GOTO command I can use so I was told a while loop is the way to do it. I know how to set up while loops, I guess what I am asking is what my terminating/repeating condition should be and how to get the program to go back up to the top of the loop thus displaying the menu. Is there any way to maybe use a return false/true and have the loop keep going through only if true? Thanks in advance.

    while( condition )
         //Display the menu here
         choice = //enter choice
         switch( choice )
               case value1 : condition = someMethod1();
                                        break;
               case value2 : condition = someMethod2();
                                        break;
               default : // Do something
                                 break;
    }

  • Making a Menu from Scratch

    As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no way to create a menu from scratch.
    Allowing you to make your own back ground, music and links to videos. You think that we this "advanced" software, they would also have the option to make your own menu from scratch. Sometimes those are the most meaningful DVDs.
    Also, The "Old Themes" aren't available, so when I click on them, I agree to download the extra features, expecting for them to become available. But after the installation is done, there is no difference. The reason I wanted some of the Older themes is because some of them seemed to have simpler features where it is almost as though you made it from scratch with a simple picture as the background.

    Good info already posted above. Allow me to add. Question: Are you looking to make a static menu or one with full motion like that found on the Revolution theme?
    If it's the latter, then iDvd is fairly useless when straying from stock themes. DVDSP combined with apps like Motion will allow you to approach and perhaps even surpass the motion menus as seen in iDvd. But the learning curve for DVDSP and Motion is rather large (not to mention expensive). So unless you have plenty of cash and time to invest then I'd highly recommend simply modifying an existing theme. Suggest you also take a look at a few of Karsten's prior posts on this subject because he has this down to a rather fine art in terms of iDvd modifications to existing themes.

  • Making spry menu background transparent

    Hello
    I have made a spry menu and made the background transparent.
    Works in Safari and Firefox on my mac but on a pc (IE) it is white.
    How can I change this? (I'm fairly new at this) Thanks

    Hello DrJeff08
    I'm happy to report that I did manage to solve my problem,
    perhaps if we're lucky we'll solve yours too. (This is my first
    website with Dreamweaver and first time using CSS). I went to my
    CSS panel in order to view all the rules I'd created, opened up the
    Spry CSS rules and methodically checked all of the properties for
    each of the rules. The very last entry on that style sheet was one
    that I didn't create, called ul.menuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
    (the "IE" that I see at the end of that name gave me a clue that it
    relates to Internet Explorer) I noticed that the background was
    white so I simply removed the white background. It must have been
    automatically inserted as a default background color.
    Hope it helps!

  • How to change/set default "box selection" in download/open file menu?

    I have set downloads option in options-general to "Always ask me where to save files". This is making a menu pop-up with option "Open with" and "Save file" every time I want to download something, and thats what I want. The thing is that depending on type of file I want to download the box for "open file" is ticked for some files like .doc and .xsp files, and the box "save file" is ticked for other files like .zip files.
    Sometimes Im downloading many separate files in a short time and it is annoying to to tick "save file" and select ok instead if having "save file" already ticked and just clicking ok.
    How can I change this behavior?
    My setup:
    Firefox 26.0
    Download status bar
    All-in-one sidebar
    Example pictures:
    http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/14/sqx4.png

    See:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions
    Current Firefox versions remember the download directory based upon the URL, so if the URL changes then the default folder may be chosen if there hasn't been selected a download folder before for that server.
    You can disable this feature to remember the download directory via the Boolean pref <b>browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    The browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite pref doesn't exist by default (it is a hidden pref), so you need to create it.
    Create a new <b>Boolean</b> pref with the name <b>browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite</b> and set the value to false.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
    You can delete the content-prefs.sqlite file in the Profile Folder to only remove settings stored in this file and keep the exceptions that are stored in permissions.sqlite that would be lost if you clear the "Site Preferences" via Clear Recent History.

  • How to change duration of music on menu?

    Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 - Windows Vista 64bit
    I'm getting there. (Thanks to your help!)
    I started from (almost) "scratch" so I'd have a nice "clean" video to burn to a DVD. I've reset all my chapter markers. Perfect, in Preview. I've chosen my menu and adjusted the motion scene selection buttons. Gorgeous, in Preview. I don't like the "default" music that comes with the menu I chose. I read some old threads here and found there is a 30 second limit, so I used Audacity to cut a WAV clip that's 16.23 seconds long to use as a loop. Here's the problem:
    I clicked "Browse" and selected the same music clip for the Main Menu and each of three successive Scene Selection pages. Works fine on the Scene Selection pages, but the Main Menu won't play past 13 seconds for some inexplicable reason. I tried manually adjusting the "duration" to 16.23, but it snaps back to 13 as soon as I hit Preview.
    I've closed the program, restarted my computer, made a new (identical) music clip (just in case the Main Menu didn't want to "share") but it still won't take it. It plays the first 13 seconds then abruptly loops back to the start, which is NOT a *smooth* transition - but it would be, IF it would play the whole 16.23 seconds like the other menu pages do without any problem.
    I'm open to suggestions, but I sure hope I don't have to start over again. Oh, BTW - I tried switching to a totally different Disc Menu, just out of curiosity, and that one played the whole music clip on the Main Menu page without a problem... but I don't like the look of that menu, I want the other one - the one that's giving me grief (of course). Don't understand why it would work on one and not the other.
    Please advise. Many thanks in advance. Cheers, Val
    To answer a question one of you (Bill?) asked on the previous thread about my source material --
    It was originally a PAL video cassette, converted to NTSC DVD. It's all on my computer now - four VOB files: three @ .99GB each, and one @ 691 MB. It's a one-hour Peter Allen TV Special broadcast in Australia. I am removing the advertising and making a menu that will allow selection of each song individually. I want more of a "concert" and less of a "TV show" as the finished product.

    Here are the results of my test of the Broadway Menu Set and the exact steps that I used. It starts a bit before the work with the Video and Audio, but this might be useful to someone creating a Menu Set for use with PrE.
    I got the Standard (4:3) PSD’s for the Broadway Menu Set, both the Main Menu (mm) and Scene Selection (ss), plus the MPG and the MP3 files. To get these Menus to display in PrE’s Create Menus selection area, I Opened the PSD’s in Photoshop, and created the PNG “thumbnails” for them, using the naming convention of the other PNG thumbnails as my guide. I first resized each PSD to 160 x 128 pixels, and then did a Save_As_PNG-8, using the correct naming convention, used elsewhere. These were placed into a new “(V) Broadway” folder with the PSD’s, the Motion Asset MPEG and the Audio MP3 file. All displayed fine in PrE 4.
    In a PrE Project, I took the original Broadway MPEG and used TimeStretch to increase its Duration to the 29;20, that I had used before (that would match my Audio file from earlier tests), and did a Share, choosing MPEG. This resulted in an m2v, but that worked fine.
    In PrE’s Create Menus Panel, I chose the new, stretched m2v, and the Duration changed to match the 29;20 Duration of the Motion Asset. Next, I linked to the previous SmartSound WAV, that was edited to have a Duration of exactly 29;20. The Duration for that Asset changed to 29;20 instantly.
    I previewed and the searchlights were now slower (as was to be expected) and the limo was also slower pulling in and out. The Menu’s Motion Background was smooth, but slower. The new Audio with Fade-in and Fade-out, played perfectly, and the Menu Looped very nicely. Actually the Looping was now better than with the original MPEG and MP3 Assets! This was a nice surprise, as there was a bit of a jolt, when the original Audio Looped. Not sure what could be done to eliminate that, but think that it would be easily accomplished in Audition, or Audacity. Maybe a test for another day.
    I burned a DVD RW and the Menu worked perfectly. I did not complete the test by altering the Scene Selection Menus (in my test Project, I needed three of these), but feel confident that they would function the same way.
    In conclusion, if one needs to use other Audio source files, this can be done, so long as one takes two things into consideration: the Video Motion Asset will determine the Looping/Duration, and the Duration must be < 30;00. I chose 29;20 to give myself a bit of headroom. Now, one needs to consider the visual effect of using TimeStretch to modify the Duration of a Background Video - here, it was fine. The Audio needs to match perfectly, or be ever so slightly shorter (I’m talking about a few Audio Units here - slight indeed), than the Video Asset.
    Now, one is still limited to the 30;00 Duration limit, in PrE, but up to that point, the chosen Audio can be just as long as the Video.
    I strongly recommend using a short Fade-in and Fade-out on the Audio, so that there is a lead-in/lead-out that will keep from having harsh jumps with the Loop.
    Hope that this helps someone in the future.

  • Remove entries from the "Open with" menu?

    I'm using openbox as a window manager and while trying to open some specific zip files I did the right click, open with, and then chose a few different programs.
    The problem is that now everytime I right click a file of the same extention the menu includes the programs I selected from before. Here's an example of what it looks like
    Open
    unzip
    7-Zip FM
    Archive Manager
    File Manager PCMan FM
    Open With
    Cut
    Copy
    and so on. My laptop screen has quite a small resolution and the menu flows off the screen which is getting really annoying. Is there a way I can remove entries on the menu, and just keep Archive Manager, making the menu smaller?
    Thanks

    you need to edit your mime list:
    ~.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list
    or install mime-editor  or xfce4-mime-settings

  • Why is menu size so much larger than the files?

    I am somewhat perplexed - I'm making a single-layer dvd and have a simple single screen theme (no animation) - it has one drop zone. The movie has 28 chapters so there are five of them, but so far I've added only one montage of photos to each menu page - it's a "mobile" quality in media browser and ave only 10 - 20 MB, then one song. On average these movie clips are 1:00 to 2:00 min long and the music is cut to that length. So, all told, it's probably less than 110 MB in files - but when I look at the project properties, the menus are 3301 MB!!!
    The movie itself is only 1.1 GB so what is going on?
    It's preventing me from doing the project and I've got no idea why it's making the menu size so much larger than the file sizes?
    Can you please help me figure out what to do?
    Alexa

    The 2 min clips were natively 2 min - I had each one separate and actually converted to media browser in "mobile" size (b/c the drop zone was 4 x 6 in size in the theme). They were tiny - in most cases I was shortening the audio (e.g. the song was 4 minutes and I was setting the loop to only 1:30 b/c that's how long the video clip was on the menu).
    BUT, to resolve the question (I always like to post the answer) - I ended up duplicating the project to try to reimport the video. It was a fresh iDVD project and I happened to click on the project tree of screens - and, lo and behold, the ENTIRE menu was duplicated for some reason (and the movie, actually). I went back to the original and it was the same! I have no idea how that would happen do you? It only had one main menu screen - and then an entire duplicate menu - which I wouldn't even know how to access if I didn't see it in the project menu tree?
    The only think of is that at one point I added a title menu link to the scene selection - it gave me a warning that my menu was more than 12 minutes, did I want to fix or ignore and fix later - which confused me b/c it was under 12 min, then but I clicked ignore. Does that create an alternate title menu and send people back to something else?
    Anyway, I deleted the entire extra scene selection menus (5 of them) and it was back to under 4 GB.
    So, I was able to burn, but still wondering about creating the "title menu" link on scene selections? It drives me crazy that it doesn't automatically do that so I like to add "main menu" links.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi ssorizo,
    Try removing those <div align="center"> tags inside the
    level one <li> tags.
    They are not needed.
    Also, I noticed that you have modified slightly the CSS file,
    please use a fresh version and modify only what you strictly need

    I'm trying to port an AS 2.0 file to AS 3.0 but I'm having

    var Ycenter:Number = new Number(200);
    var objectsTotal:uint = new uint(12);
    var i:uint = new uint();
    //--------3D ellipse and rotation

    event.target.x = Math.cos(event.target.angle) * radiusX +
    Xcenter;
    event.target.y = Math.sin(event.target.angle) * radiusY +
    Ycenter;
    //speed
    //event.target.angle += event.target.parent.speed;
    //resize
    var size:Number = new
    Number(event.target.y/(Ycenter+radiusY));
    event.target.xscale = event.target.scaleX = size * 1;
    event.target.yscale = event.target.scaleY = size * 1;
    //alpha
    event.target._alpha = 100 * size;
    //event.target.swapDepths(Math.round(event.target.scaleX)+50);
    event.target.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, spin);
    trace(event.target.x +" "+ event.target.y);
    function spin(event:MouseEvent)
    speed = (event.target.mouseX-Xcenter)/3000;
    //trace(object_mc.x + object_mc.y);
    Anyways I think the problem lies in these lines of code:
    //event.target.angle += event.target.parent.speed;
    and
    //event.target.swapDepths(Math.round(event.target.scaleX)+50);
    of course my whole approach could be wrong, right? classes
    maybe? I don't know but I've been at it for a while now....
    please help.

    Could anyone tell me how de we achieve making a menu tab active when using a template and a combination of html & php. I am putting the code I am using for my menu and do not see how to do this and how to relate inner pages to the right menu tab ... The site has hundreds of pages so i hope there is an easy way to do this without having to create duplicated templates. Many thanks.
          <li><span class="divider divider-vert" ></span></li>
          <li><a href="Hostels.html">Hostels Brasil</a></li>
          <li><a href="Historico.html">Historico e Filosofia</a></li>
          <li><span class="divider divider-vert" ></span></li>
          <li><a class="item-primary" href="Brasil-Carteira.html">Carteira HI Brasil</a>
             </li>
          <li><span class="divider divider-vert" ></span></li>
           <li><span class="divider divider-vert" ></span></li>
          <li><a class="item-primary" href="hostels-mondo/index.html">Hostels do Mundo</a>
    </li><li><a class="item-primary" href="Contato.html">Contato</a>
            </li></ul>

    Humm .. really not sure what I'm doing wrong here .... I've been redesigning the whole menu but cannot get that to work , if you dont mind I am sending you the code here first so you can already have a look and see if there is some obvious mistake , I am still testing all this on my local machineand as I completly re made the menu for the purpose I cannot upload the files and let the client see a menu like this  (now I was also wondering if maybe this would only work on a live server ?)
    So my menu is like this
    <div id="nav-container"><div id="nav">
        <ul>
          <li><a href="../index.html">Home</a></li>
          <li><a href="../viagem-brasil/destinos.html">Destinos</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">menu</a></li>
        </ul>
      </div>
    </div>
    Then just befor the </body> tag I have the following :
    <script src="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/includes_minified/SpryDOMUtils .js"></script>
    <script>
           function InitPage(){
            Spry.$$('nav li').forEach(function(node){
            var a=node.getElementsByTagName("a")[0]; // finds all a elements inside the li, but we only want the first so [0]
            if(a.href == window.location){
                Spry.Utils.addClassName(node,"activeMenuItem");
        Spry.Utils.addLoadListener(InitPage);
        </script>
    And my css is, you will notice I am trying to get an image as background but this is only a detail .....
    #nav{
        margin: auto;
        color: #FFF;
        height: 65px;
        width: 1060px;
        text-align: left;
        background-image: url(../images/menubg.gif);
    #nav-container
        height:65px;
        background-image:url(../images/menubg.gif);
        width: 100%;
    #nav-container ul {
    padding:0;
    margin:0;
    list-style-type:none;
    #nav-container li {
        margin-left:2px;
        float:left;
        height: 55px;
        /* [disabled]padding-top: 25px; */
    #nav-container ul li a {
        display:block;
        float:left;
        width:100px;
        /* [disabled]background-color:#6495ED; */
        color:#FFF;
        text-decoration:none;
        text-align:center;
        padding:5px;
        /* [disabled]margin-top: 20px; */
        height: 25px;
        padding-top: 30px;
    #nav-container ul li a:hover {
        background-image: url(../images/menuHome.png);
        display:block;
        float:left;
        width:100px;
        /* [disabled]background-color:#6495ED; */
        color:#FFF;
        text-decoration:none;
        text-align:center;
        padding:5px;
        /* [disabled]margin-top: 20px; */
        height: 25px;
        padding-top: 30px;
    .activeMenuItem a {
            background:#a59a84;
            color:#000;
    .activeMenuItem a {
        background:#a59a84;
        color:#ffffff;
        background-image: url(../images/menuHome.png);
    I really thank you for your time and hope you'll spot the mistake, if not I will do upload something so we can see it live !
    Many thanks
