Making contact with BT about my DACS box

I am already wondering if I have done the right thing moving to BT broadband.
I am moving from AOL and in doing so, am having my broadband connection moved to my other line. My present second telephone line (my dedicated broadband line) will then be disconnected - to save money.
I know and have checked using SamKnows to check that the line I have asked to be used for the new  broadband connection has a DACS box on it. There is no mention in the booking order paper work of an engineer coming to remove it - only when the the Hub etc will be delivered. They estimate connection on the 27th.
I have spent over 15 minutes going through the Help sections and ended up going round and round in circles trying to find an email address to contact BT about this. Do they have it all under control? I think not and would like to make sure that I don't end up with all the hardware and yet no line.
Anyone got suggestions as to what I should do so that I have some written evidence that I have informed them about my concerns.

I've got the same problem, I went to Sky to get my broadband and was given a date of the 29/11/10 for activation and as you guessed it's the 06/01/11 and still know broadband.
Been doing a bit of complaining to Sky and they say it's open reach who are not playing ball in removing the DACS on the line I've made several calls and still no joy, it all seems to come back to open reach who are to blame according to Sky and they say they can't get any updates via phone only via an email system they have (not what you want to here if you want broadband)
so the next best thing was to stop a BT fellow up a pole and ask him, which is what I did, well to cut a long story short it seems that they have to replace the line up to where I live as there are no lines free, so I asked how long "oh could take up to 6 months"
and out of the blue I had a call from open reach man, who was just checking he had the correct address but still no news of the broadband, it seems they are replacing the 24 pair line which always gets faults on, with a 50 pair line, they have started but have stopped some 2 miles from where I am.
I'm at my wits end as I just seem to go around in circles and know one gives a date of when it's being connected

    I figure I would compile a list of things I have heard from Verizon reps as well as Apple retailers for anyone curious
    First Contact:  Verizon Wireless Preorder 9/12 for 6+ 128 Space Gray made at 12:17am PST at full-retail.  Small chat with representative about placing order.  "Deliver By: 9/19" throughout ordering and on confirmation page.  Email confirmation 1:52am, with delivery date changed to 10/7.
    Second Contact:  Online Chat with Verizon rep about order.  Verizon rep confirms nothing more than what the email stated, and what the "Status Update" on the VZW Website provides (an infinite "your order is processing, no shipping date available").
    Third Contact:  Direct message to Verizon rep.  Also completely useless.  Does not provide any more information regards shipment.
    Fourth Contact:  Call up Verizon Customer Service.  Woman reiterates shipment date, but also adds that my order processed at 1:52am - the same time my email confirmation was sent.  So 2+2 means that whenever confirmation emails are received is when your order is processed.
    Fifth Contact:   Call up Verizon Customer Service again.  Ask more about my shipment and why it would be that others who placed their orders for the exact copy of my phone after me, received tracking numbers before me.  Was told that it depends on which warehouse your order was sent to.  Some warehouses have more of certain phones than others.  Ask what the random number for my order location translated to geographically (city, state) and was told that as part of a non-disclosure agreement that information cannot be released.
    Sixth Contact:  Call up local Verizon Wireless Retail Location.  Representative states that 6+ 128 models will not be available in store at all for 9/19.  Suggests that perhaps Best Buy will have the phone in stock on release day.
    Seventh Contact: Call up Best Buy and manager was kind enough to explain that pre-orders made through Best Buy are actually pulling from the inventory from the store.  Also explains that 6+ models are not even able to be pre-ordered because of lack of supply via Apple and therefore will not be in store locations at all.
    Eighth Contact:  Call up different Verizon Wireless Retail Location.  Representative explains that in-store locations will not know which models will be available in-store until the night before, because the shipments have not been made yet, much less fulfilled.
    Ninth Contact: Call up ANOTHER Vzw Retail Location.  This was the most helpful representative of all.  This rep explains that no matter WHAT kind of shipment the corporate stores receive, these phones are reserved for people who upgrade/add a new line/etc, and will not be sold to people who opt for the month-to-month option for full retail.
    Tenth Contact:  Call up another Best Buy location.  Rep doesn't know much of anything.
    Eleventh Contact:  Call up Apple Store located inside of a mall (because I cannot feasibly wait in a line overnight; I have twin 18mos old sons, so an in-mall location seems like my best option).  Rep does not know what mall procedure will be as far as lining up.  Does not know quantity of phones coming, but does know that EVERY model will be available for purchase at first-come-first-serve.
    Twelfth Contact:  Call up another in-mall Apple Store location.  No lines inside of mall (duh), and nearest entrance door will be opened prior to mall hours at 8am.  All models will be available for purchase in store in unknown quantities.  Check out process takes 15-20 minutes, including transfer of all information from one phone to the new phone.  If I do not want to wait in line in store, I can call the store location and make my order over the phone at 8am and pick it up in store later that day with my confirmation number and ID.
    So that's that then.  I plan to try and get my hands on a phone this Friday by going to an indoor Apple location, and if I am successful I will be cancelling my Verizon order regardless if I get a tracking number by then or not (although I doubt I will).  I know that most VZW Reps are responding from prompts, but you think that the prompts would provide the same response for the same questions, or even that Verizon would have come out with an official statement regards this whole mess.  I guess that's asking for too much, though.
    What's everybody else's plans and experiences?  Inspired or made aware of anything from my experiences?

    Yeah, that's a possibility but after the responses from the Apple locations and the guarantee that my model will be available for purchase at FCFS, I don't think I'll have much to do with Verizon locations regards it all.
    I think the reason you're receiving yours on Friday is you are east coast whereas I am west coast.  I think there was some truth to the Fifth Contact's response and that it also depends on the warehouse the order is coming from.  My warehouse is more than likely different than yours and probably has a larger demand/smaller supply than your warehouse.
    I live in Southern California, and my county alone has 3.1M people.  The four surrounding counties have 10M people, 2.3M people, 2.1M people, and 3.2M people.  iPhone is king out here as far as phones, so I'm chalking it up to supply/demand in my warehouse, and that my order was processed much later than many others in my area.
    I'll check back on my order tomorrow and Thursday, but unless I have a notice that shows it going out for delivery on Friday by being at my local FedEx facility, I'm going to an Apple store, getting a phone there, and cancelling my order with Verizon.

  • Is there any way to get in direct contact with apple about a problem I am having?

    When I create text boxes in Preview and then save and close the file, they will be rotated 90 degrees when I reopen the file. This makes them virtually unreadable. It happens with some pdfs but not others. I am sure it must be a bug with preview and would really like to tell Apple about it so they can fix it. I posted this problem a few weeks ago and it seems a lot of people viewed it but I only got one reply (the person said they are not having the same problem).
    Is there any way to email apple directly about it? Or a better way to go about this?

    If you believe it's a bug and you wish to just let them know about it, use the Feedback page Network 23 provided below. You will not get an answer to any feedback you send.
    If you want direct assistance from an Apple support technician, then you will have to call them and pay the support fee unless your system is within the one-year original warranty in which case you could purchase an AppleCare extended warranty plan under which you would get free phone support.
    You may also get suggests from people here, at least confirmation that the problem is a bug or a refutation of it being a problem across all 10.7.4 systems. You might also update to 10.7.5, if you haven't already, and see if the problem persists. Try the Combo updater; even though it's not necessary for a .1 incremental update, often use of the Combo updater fixes problems that the incremental update does not.

  • Get in contact with Verizon about poor coverage?

    Is there any way to report poor service in my area? I have been with Verizon since 2005, my area showed up on the LTE coverage map in 2011. The problem is 4G is extremely spotty and all phones almost always revert back to 3G or are unable to complete a 4G upload speed test. The only place I am able to get stable 4G reception in my house is upstairs (with HTC, Motorola, and Apple phones). When you live in a spotty 4G area you notice that some manufacturers use better radios than others.
    The closest cell phone tower to my house is located about 2 miles to the east of town right on Interstate 75. The other cell phone tower is located about 3-4 miles down 75 which serves the northern portion of town. Downtown and almost all residential areas have non-existant LTE coverage unless you're outside and you're lucky to get that. The phone might read LTE sometimes but it's usually about -111dB and unstable. 2 miles west of town there is a major CSX intermodal train yard that links NYC to Chicago which also has no LTE coverage. My zip code is 45872 and the map shows LTE coverage for the entire area, and it has for years, and while this might TECHNICALLY be true, as in the tower is 4G, it's very difficult to connect to LTE while in town.
    I highly doubt Verizon has any knowledge of the issue or plans to fix it anytime until the next upgrade to 5G or whatever that may be. I'd really like Verizon to consider fixing the issue or remove the LTE coverage from the map.
    I am not new to this, I have had LTE devices on the Verizon network since the Thunderbolt came out. Since then I have had the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, Droid DNA, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR Maxx HD, HTC One, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, and the HTC Rezound (I believe this is all of them).
    I don't have any issues with dropped calls and the 3G works OK, but with more data intensive applications it would be nice to actually get what you pay for and utilize the 4G speed.
    Verizon only seems to care if users have LTE data coverage by the highway, not in the town. It didn't used to be a big deal but now that nearly everyone has 4G capable devices, the issue is really obvious. I will work with Verizon on the issue if they'd like, I would really just like to have the issue taken care of.

    The Verizon rep (TonyG_VZW) was communicating with me through direct messages and was supposed to call me but never did. So I don't know if a ticket has been filed or not but apparently contacting someone on here is one way to do it. I'm really doubtful that anyone will ever come and fix it. The east side of town is great but the west (where I live) is poor. I think as long as they can mark it as a "LTE" area on a map, that's all they care about.
    The truth is that everyone knows that LTE sucks here, but no one really knows how to complain about it. It IS an issue and always has been, ESPECIALLY if you own a Samsung phone. The only real way they could fix it here would be to put up another cell phone tower which I highly doubt they will do, the position of the current one honestly makes no sense, it's about 3 miles from the center of town, if it was more centrally placed they would of only had to put up one tower, but now about 75% of the town has to live with slow 3G, and because the majority of people are using 3G at the same time on one tower, it's SLOW.
    I don't think Verizon cares enough to put up another tower here, even with there being a major CSX inter-model hub, which is more than 5 miles long itself. It lies on the west side of town and 4G signal is extremely poor, they're building commercial shipping companies across from CSX all the time and they service out there it horrible. I'd switch to AT&T if I didn't have unlimited data because it's much faster here, the towers are more strategically placed and there appears to be more than one.

    I ended up buying the zBoost DataBlast YX550-VLTE-AWS for $160, I had to put an antenna on my roof. My 4G signal ranges from 2-4 bars and usually about 19db on average, although LTE still sucks outside my house. I hope that helps.

    Apple cannot track your stolen equipment. Call your local police. If you know the serial number be sure to give it to them. But I would not hold much hope of recovery. If you have homeowners or automobile insurance the theft may be covered although that may not be helpful if you carry a high deductible.

  • How do I stop Google from attempting to sync contacts with my iMac?

    Hey folks, i'm new to Mac and keep getting this annoying sync notice that if I allow Google Contants to sync it will change pretty much all my contacts.  First off, I'm not really sure what contacts it's trying to sync with. Is it trying to sync with my iCloud contacts? i don't think i have any contact info saved on my hard disk.  Second, i have searched the discussion threads about this topic and see posts saying i need to go to Address Book > Preferences > and uncheck Google Sync....but the only Address Book i am aware of is the app labeled "Contacts" which holds everything from my iCloud account.  Is Address Book a separate app/database?

    I don't know if this helps much, but Address Book was basically the same application in a previous version of the Mac OS. Folks still seem to use the terms interchangably though. Similarly, Calendar used to be "iCal."
    I believe syncing contacts with Google or iCloud is an either/or proposition - you can't do both. When you sync with either, a copy is saved to your Mac for faster access (like a web browser's cache). I believe there's still an option to save contacts exclusively to your Mac (HD), but I don't think it's either preferred or occurs by default if you have an account such as Gmail/google or iCloud already set up.
    I've never played with preferences in Contacts (Address Book), but I do have both google and iCloud accounts associated with my Mac. Under System Preferences:Mail, Contacts & Calendars, you can specify what accounts do on your Mac. If you have multiple accounts set up, a list will appear on the left side. As you select each one, a list of check boxes appear to the right for each service you want to associate with that account. For example, I have an iCloud account for mail, calendars, contacts, and Safari (among others). I have a Gmail account for mail, although it gives me the option of using this account for calendars, etc. For Gmail, the only item I have checked is mail. It's never asked me if I wanted to sync my addresses with Google.
    I hope this helps... at least a little. If nothing else, I hope I've solved the "Address Book" mystery ;-)

    I have an iPhone and I usually sync my calendar and contacts with my Outlook 2007. But since a few days wherever I change or add a new information (PC or iPhone) it doesn't sync. Nothing changes in any device. No error is displayed. Does someone know what can be possibly happening, since it has worked perfectly since 2009? I have tried to remove the calendars and add it again and didn't have success.

    Open Microsoft Outlook. Go to Tools > Options, then in the "Other" tab. Check the box next to " Make Outlook the default program for mail , contacts and calendar. Confirm by clicking OK.

    In the left pane, select Set Program Access and Defaults.
    In the right pane , select Custom.
    A line Choose a mail program default , select your Outlook email client.
    Microsoft Vista :
    Click on the Start menu and choose Default Programs.
    Then click Choose your default programs.
    In the left pane select Microsoft Outlook and right click Set this program as default.

  • Program error when Making Contact Sheet from Bridge

    I had been making contact sheet from the bridge using CS3 with no problem till a week ago when after completing the contact sheet, I get an error message saying that there was a program error, and photoshop locks up. I have to force quit. I am using a G5 dual 2.5 and 2 Gigs of RAM. I tried reinstalling without any luck.
    Any ideas?

    I have a very stupid situation... and it seems that this is hopeless.
    I have my iPad since from several years and yesterday I had to buy (first time) an application on App Store.
    So unfortunately to proceed I had to give a response to 2 security questions an my responses are not correct.
    I did not have before the alternative e-mail address on my AppleID so I do not see the link to reset my security questions...
    All in all I have to call the Apple Support. And this is the moment were the story begins... My situation is like this, I am from Poland, I have bought the iPad in Poland, now I am located in France (I work there currently). I do not speak french language on acceptable level to contact with french support by phone. No problem with English language for me. So I have decided to call the polish support - the easiest solution - but I am not able to do it, polish support number is special (00800 4411875) and I am not able to call it while being abroad....
    So I have decided to choose the option that Apple Support will cal me, why not? Genial! But... I need to confirm the country to which the support will make the call... I cannot choose France because I will be switched to french support, also I cannot select Poland and give there my french mobile number...
    So my last possibility was to contact with English support, but the story is exactly the same like with polish support...
    Anyone can explain me what I can do in such situation? Because it is tragic, I know that Apple would like to be very user-friendly so everybody will be able to call their support center even if they do not understand the internet page, but for the moment, for my situation it is just a pain in...
    After this I really loose my will to buy anything from Apple (I totally forgot about this app which originally I was going to buy...). Thanks...

    I have spent the last two or three days trying to do what you suggested.  I uninstalled Adobe 6 from Windows.  Some files that CS6 placed on my system during installation remained, including fonts and .dll files.
    I had to abandon the Cleaner Tool you suggested because in one screen it allowed me to specify removing CS6 only, but on the following screen it only gave on option to remove ALL Adobe programs.  I could not do that because I didn't have the serial number handy for CS3 in case I want to reinstall it at some point.
    I tried to get technical help with the Cleaner Tool problem but no definitive help was available, so I reinstalled CS6 again without having the benefit of the Cleaner Tool.  I tried to get the serial number for CS3 so I could use the Cleaner Tool but spent 2 wasted hours in chat.  Even though I had a customer number, order number, order date, place of purchase, the email address used AND 16 digits of the serial number, in two hours the agent couldn't give me the serial number.  After two hours I had nothing but instructions to wait another 20 minutes for a case number.
    Illustrator CS6 is still trying to open some backups as Text and otherNone of the problems have been fixed.  I have tried to open/use the .ai files in CS6 installed on another system and am getting the same result, so I don't think the software was damaged by the cleaner.  The hard drive cleaner is well-known and I've run it many times without any problem to previous versions of Illustrator or any other programs.
    When I ordered, the sale rep promised good technical support and gave me an 800 number, but after I paid the $2000, I learned that the 800 number she gave me doesn't support CS6 and hangs up on me.  Adobe doesn't call it a current product even though they just sold it to me about 3 weeks ago.
    Would appreciate any help you experts can offer.  If I can't solve this, the last backup I can use was from June and I will have lost HUNDREDS of hours of work and assets that I cannot replace.
    Exhausted and still desperately in need of help...
