Making Java talk to C application!!!

My dilema is explained as under.... :)
- An application has already been created/deployed and it is developed in C language.
- My application is written in Java.
- Java app. needs to send very small data, may be only primitive types, to the C application
- Both applications reside on the same machine
- Now how would i transfer information from java to C, keeping in mind that XML is not an option, because it is real time system, delays are not affordable.
- Similarly, transfering data through sockets would be a bad idea, because both apps. are on the same machine.
- So without XML, file Streams and client/server how would I make the Java and C applications talk to each other keeping in mind that both are on the same machine
Thanx in advance ..

JNI doesn't help too much if the application doesn't
provide a C/C++ API. In that case, the OP needs to
write some proxy DLL and compile that for JNI, which
in turn accesses the application's libs.
If the app does not provide such an API, without any
way for programmatic input, there can't be any
programmatic input. Obviously.
But I don't see why sockets wouldn't work.yup, you have to generate stub for communicate to c/c++ application
using 'javah' and the output header file will be used by your c/c++ program

    I'm a Mac OSX 10.8.4 (i-mMac): I found Java visualvm on my applications through utilities. When I try to open, it says I need to install a Java 6 SE runtime.  Should I dump this java even if I don't use the runtime? I've heard all Java is unsafe. What do you think?

    Java has had extremely serious issues with security on Macs for more than a year at least. It has been responsible for most of the malware that has infected Macs since early spring of 2012. Patches have been issued now and then, but Java is so full of holes that this hasn't really helped. (Often, new vulnerabilities have been found and exploited the next day.)
    It is true that there haven't been any KNOWN Java exploits on the Mac in a few months. (I stress the word "known," because a lot of the malware over the last 6 months has been targeted very tightly on specific individuals or small groups, making it harder to discover.)
    Bottom line, you should not trust Java in a web browser at this point. If you must use it, you should take great care.
    That said, Java is fine to use for running apps on your computer. (Just as fine as running any app.) It is only really dangerous when enabled in the web browser. You can install Java if you need to, as long as you disable it in your web browser.

  • Adding a field in Web dynpro java in Travel Request application

    Hi All,
    How to add a field in Web dynpro java in Travel Request application or can we copy the Web dynpro java application to Web dynpro ABAP and add a field. Experts, Can you please suggest me step by step in resolving the problem.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
    First, in order to customise the ESS webdynpro Java iViews you need to be aware that, you are about to change the SAP standard iviews. In order to avoid this you can make a copy of the SAP standard one's and then try to customise the copied one's.
    Now, you should have NetWeaver Development Infrastructure(NWDI) installed. Once it is installed you should also install the Netweaver Developer Studio (NWDS) on your computer.
    Once you have these two installed, you should deploy the ESS Business Package onto the NWDI by creating tracks. There is a cookbook available on SAP Service Marketplace for configuring NWDI for ESS.
    Once you have all the above mentioned tools, have a look at the following blog which clearly explains about the procedure of customising ESS iviews.
    /people/vinoth.murugaiyan/blog/2007/08/24/essmss-customization-150-make-it-simple
    Also check the following Wiki, this might be useful!
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/erphcm/employee%252bself%252bservice
    I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any issues.
    Dont forgett to contribute points if this is useful! All the Best.

  • How to pass Objects from Java App to JavaFX Application

    Hello,
    New to the JavaFX. I have a Java Swing Application. I am trying to use the TreeViewer in JavaFX since it seems to be a bit better to use and less confusing.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    I have my Java app calling my treeviewer JavaFX as
    -- Java Application --
    public class EPMFrame extends JFrame {
    Customer _custObj
    private void categoryAction(ActionEvent e)   // method called by Toolbar
            ocsCategoryViewer ocsFX;    //javaFX treeviewer
            ocsFX = new ocsCategoryViewer();    // need to pass in the Customer Object to this Not seeing how to do it.
                                                  // tried ocsFX = new ocsCategoryViewer(_custObj) ;    nothing happened even when set this as a string with a value
    public class ocsCategoryViewer extends Application {
    String _customer;
    @Override
        public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
         TreeView <String> ocsTree;
         TreeItem <String> root , subcat;
      TreeItem <String> root = new TreeItem <String> ("/");
            root.setExpanded(true);
             ocsTree = new TreeView <String> (root);
             buildTree();     // this uses the Customer Object.
            StackPane stkp_root = new StackPane();
            stkp_root.getChildren().add(btn);
            stkp_root.getChildren().add(ocsTree);
            Scene scene = new Scene(stkp_root, 300, 250);
            primaryStage.setTitle("Tree Category Viewer");
            primaryStage.setScene(scene);
            primaryStage.show();
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            _customer = args[0];      // temporarily trying to pass in string.
            launch(args);

    JavaFX and Swing integration is documented by Oracle - make sure you understand that before doing further development.
    What are you really trying to do?  The answer to your question depends on the approach you are taking (which I can't really work out from your question).  You will be doing one of:
    1. Run your Swing application and your JavaFX application as different processes and communicate between them.
    This is the case if you have both a Swing application with a main which you launch (e.g. java MySwingApp) and JavaFX application which extends application which you launch independently (e.g. java MyJavaFXApp).
    You will need to do something like open a client/server network socket between the applications and send the data between them.
    2. Run a Swing application with embedded JavaFX components.
    So you just run java MySwingApp.
    You use a JFXPanel, which is "a component to embed JavaFX content into Swing applications."
    3. Run a Java application with embedded Swing components.
    So you just run java MyJavaFXApp.
    You use a SwingNode, which is "used to embed a Swing content into a JavaFX application".
    My recommendation is:
    a. Don't use approach number one and have separate apps written in Swing and Java - that would be pretty complicated and unwarranted for almost all applications.
    b. Don't mix the two toolkits unless you really need to.  An example of a real need is that you have a huge swing app based upon the NetBeans platform and you want to embed a couple of JavaFX graphs in there.  But if your application is only pretty small (e.g., it took less than a month to write), just choose one toolkit or the other and implement your application entirely in that toolkit.  If your entire application is in Swing and you are just using JavaFX because you think its TreeView is easier to program, don't do that; either learn how to use Swing's tree control and use that or rewrite your entire application in JavaFX.  Reasons for my suggestion are listed here: JavaFX Tip 9: Do Not Mix Swing / JavaFX
    c. If you do need to mix the two toolkits, the answer of which approach to use will be obvious.  If you have a huge Swing app and want to embed one or two JavaFX components in it, then use JFXPanel.  If you have a huge JavaFX app and want to embed one or two Swing components in it, use a SwingNode.  Once you do start mixing the two toolkits be very careful about thread processing, which you are almost certain screw up at least during development, no matter how an experienced a developer you are.  Also sharing the data between the Swing and JavaFX components will be trivial as you are now running everything in the same application within the virtual machine and it is all just Java so you can just pass data around as parameters to constructors and method calls, the same way you usually do in a Java program, you can even use static classes and data references to share data but usually a dependency injection framework is better if you are going to do that - personally I'd just stick to simply passing data through method calls.

  • How to deploy java bean in Oracle Applications?

    There is a Oracle Applications Forms FNDMNMNU.fmb which calls a Java Bean to show TreeView.
    The Bean Area uses the implementation class of AppletAdapter.class. Do you know that we have to use the same AppletAdapter class so that we can connect to Oracle database?
    In the form of FNDMNMNU.fmb, the java bean is called like this.
    fndaplt.applet_init('FND_MENUS.TREE_VIEWER',
    'FS',
    'oracle.apps.fnd.functionSecurity.client.FunctionTreeViewer',
    l_list_id);
    Do you know what 'FS' means ?
    Thank you very much in advance!
    It is my first time to use Java Bean in Oracle Applications!

  • Is it possible to update only one java file in my application bundles without re-deployment?

    For Example,
    i have a Application.java file in my application-bundles.jar and it is running.
    I need to add a new method in Application.java file alone while the instance is running.
    I know we can change .jsp file through CRX-DE lite, but looking for .java files.
    is it possible or can some one suggest an idea on this?

    Hi kalimisetty,
    It is part of bundles. It needs recompilation & deployment. Though server restart is not required.

  • Deploy XI java Proxy inside JBoss application server

    Hello,
    Can I deploy XI java Proxy inside JBoss application server
    Appreciate you response.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    <b>Yes</b>
    You can deploy your Java Proxy inside JBoss Server (in any Application server). But this will be possible only for Client Java Proxy and not for Server Java Proxy.
    I have succesfully completed those scenarios.
    After generating Client Java proxy, create EJB application with generated Java classes for proxies and deploy it in JBoss.
    Then you can access that EJB to pass inputs either in standalone application or some JSP.

  • Automatically creating database using core java by runnin an application

    hi evryone...
    My question is how to create a database automatically usin core java by runnin an application i mean to say tat Is it possible to create a DSN
    where we can directly create a database when we run a java application... plz... help me by solving dis query...
    Thank 'U'

    Your requirements are vague, but it sounds like you want an embedded database. Here are two:
    http://db.apache.org/derby/derby_downloads.html
    http://hsqldb.org/
    You can't create a database directly using "core" java, unless you equal serializing with real dbs.

  • Best combination of technologies for Java db-supported web application?

    Hi everyone!
    I was given the task to develop a Java database-supported web application and am now wondering what combination of technologies would best fit my requirements.
    Basically, I am supposed to transform an "Excel-based" application into a Java-based web application that can be run in a browser in our intranet (I know, that's what a web application is supposed to do).
    The Excel application consist of an Excel sheet that holds all the data and a VBA form, that shows and lets you edit all the details/fields of a row and lets you navigate through the rows. Furthermore there are certain macros to filter the data table.
    Now, to transform the application, all data from Excel will be moved to an Oracle relational database and I want to rebuild the functionality with Java.
    Consequently, the Java application is intended to...
    - output the table as is in the browser
    - easily let you filter the data of the table
    - let you create (and save) custom filters
    - show detail view of a row
    - navigate through the rows of the (filtered) table
    - save the data that is entered/edited/deleted in the detail view back to the table in the database
    So, what are the best (and easiest to use) tools and technologies to develop such an application?
    Currently my reasearch has led me to the following conclusions:
    *1.* Architecture: I need a three-tier client-server application, which lead us to using the J2EE platform, right?
    *2.* For the persistence layer I somehow have to map the database table to a Java object,
    - either doing it completely manually (coding) using JDBC
    - or using EJB3 / Java Persistence API / Hibernate to get at least the getters and setters auto-generated, right?
    Please, correct me whenever i got something wrong!
    Oracle JDeveloper supports the mapping process with a wizard when using EJB3 and JPA
    (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/ejb_and_jpa/master-detail_pagewith_ejb.htm)
    Is there something comparable available for Eclipse?
    *3.* I'd like to use Java Server Faces for the UI. Besides the reference implementation there are several other implementations with additional components for e.g. displaying tables. There are:
    - Apache MyFaces Trinidad (former ADF Faces, although ADF Faces looks different/has different style sheet than Trinidad?)
    - NetBeans Visual Web tools (which look quite nice in the tutorial, but require the NetBeans IDE, I guess?! Tutorial: http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/web-jpa.html
    *4.* What IDE would you recommend? Should have a WYSIWYG editor for the JSF files and should support me as much as possible as a Java Learner!
    - JDeveloper
    - Eclipse (+Plugins?)
    - NetBeans
    - MyEclipse (only if there is a free version out there, I have read about an Eclipse plug-in, but don't know if that was free...)
    *5.* Do you know some good and easy-to-understand tutorials covering this problem?
    *6.* What other aspects should I think of? Are there certain technologies for the business logic or just normal JavaBeans? What about SessionBeans and ManagedBeans?
    Any help, answers, ideas, explanations, comments, recommendations, will be highly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Thanks paulcw, for your quick reply and helpful comments!
    The whole thing is getting bigger than I thought...
    Actually this is a 1-man-project, that I am supposed to realise for small department during my internship in a big company.
    Maybe a more detailed description of the structure may help you to understand what I actually need.
    The table of concern, is an overview of certain projects inside the company and read-only, as it is a view on another database uniting data relevant for the department.
    Then there is a second table for additional data (specific for the department) for each project. This data has to be entered, modified, deleted with the new application, while the data from the first table is only displayed.
    1) In this case, is AJAX / JavaScript still necessarily needed?
    2) EJB and Hibernate sound like overkill to me as well, but what would be the alternatives? JDBC, SQL queries and rowSets? And are the first mentioned really so hard to use?
    3) Do you have any recommendations on how to solve the multiple access problem (I'm sure, I'm not the only one with this kind of problem...)?
    Thanks to everyone in advance!
    Chris

  • Using Java Applet in WebDynpro Application

    Hello,
    I have the problem that I must access the client in my WebDynpro Application.
    But I found no way to include a Java Applet in my application, so my question: Is it generally possible to include a Java Applet or not?
    If it is not possible with an Applet, is there any other way to access the client?
    Thanks a lot

    We actually embed Java applets in our application. But only on the portal.
    Wrap the applet around a BSP.
    Call the URL in an iframe.
    To prevent the reloading problems that we see with applets and actions, we put the applet in a modal window, with an OK button at the bottom so that when applet processing is finished, the rest of the web dynpro functionality resumes.
    If you need to have them both in the same page, you can embed the BSP iview in the same portal page.
