Making Personalized Stationery Templates

I've not had any luck finding where the instructions are for creating personalized stationery templates for Mail. Probably a simple thing to do. Any pointers to where the instructions are?

  • Is there a way to change the categories in the Personal Finance Template

I am trying to use the Personal Finance Template rather than developing one for myself.  Is there a way to change the Cateorgies that are listed in the template?  Those don't work for me!

In fact, the categories ARE NOT popups:
    Hi Wayne,
Well, then, if that is true on your machine, then I guess your Numbers 3.1 came with a different template than my Numbers 3.1!
Those sure DO look like Pop-Up Menu to me.
The template works by having the two tables work together, with the category values matching, as you pointed out.  For that to happen, you've got to manage Pop-Up Menu in one of the tables. So don't you think my advice might possibly be helpful?

  • Using Numbers Personal Budget template I can't figure out how to change the categories in both tabs (budget and transactions)

Brand new just bought Numbers and I used the personal budget template to enter our monthly budget.  I customized the spread sheet with our budget categories, but then when I go to the transactions tab to add our transactions, it only has the generic categories.  How do I change them so that my transactions end up on the table?

    Hi artlisavz,
There are 2 places to make changes.
I assume this is where you have already changed things:
The Budget tab- Summary by Category- just click the name and change it. Or else you dragged the "=" at the lower left to add rows. Added your categories.
You need to edit the popup in the Transactions tab- Category popup.
Popup menu is a data format. You find it on the right side bar Format>Cell>Data Format> Popup Menu. Change, delete, go wild. If you edit the first one you can copy it, select the rest of the column and paste. If you find you want an additional in a month or so you can enter it as text (after deleting the popup), then select it and the popup above and choose the popup format instead of multiple and you will have added it to that popup. You will need to fill it to the rest of the column.
If you added additional categories, you want to update the pie chart.
Click the pie chart, click "Edit Data References", drag the section to include your added categories.

  • Problems using the 'stationery template' feature in mail

I have used the stationery templates feature in mail without any problems in the past. Now when i send a stationery template, like a photo template, the email is unreadable for the people receiving my emails (both Mac & PC). Sometimes the email looks like a Picasso painting or the receiver gets a bunch of attachments as if the email came in a bunch of separate files. Could this be possible due to the upgrade to 10.6 from 10.5? Or am i doing something wrong? Is there a separate upgrade for this?
    thanks

  • Mail Stationery Templates are in Latin?  How do I get them to English?

I've searched and searched and finally reached the end of the internet with no answer! All my mail stationery templates default to Latin. How do I get them to default to English. HELP!

it's not Latin. It's Lorem Ipsum

It's a placeholder text without any meaning.

  • Add categories to personal budget template

I am trying to modify and add categories into the Personal Budget template in iCloud.  The problem is whenever I go to add a category on the  "Budget" tab, it doesn't cross over to the drop-down menu in the "Transactions" tab.  When I add a new category in the "Budget" tab, it populates into the graphs as expected, I just can't get the drop down menu to populate the new category names.

Is editing pop-up menus not allowed in the iCloud version?
It doesn't seem to be there.
Numbers 3 on the Mac makes it particularly easy to edit Pop-Up Menu, as described here and here and here.

  • Stationery Template - appearance breaks when recipient opens

I've tested several Mail Stationery Templates. They seem to break their formating when I send them to non Mac users (my mother). When I send a test email to myself it looks fine. Any solutions or suggestions? Wish I could attach my mom's reply to show the problem. Very disappointed in this shortcoming. Am I loading the mail message with too much information (photo, text, fonts, color)?

    Yes, and the worst:

If you had Pages previously it should be in your Applications > iWork folder.

  • Installing New Mac Mail Stationery Templates

I'm trying to install a custom stationery template into my Mac Mail which I believe should be placed here.
    Library > Application Support > Mail > Stationery > Apple > Contents > Resources > Custom > Contents > Resources
However, there's no "Mail" folder within my "Application Support".
If you have any suggestions, I'd be most grateful.
    Thanks, in advance.

    Back to the original problem:
I'm trying to install a custom stationery template into my Mac Mail
Who from, and did they provide an installer?
The reason I ask is that I recently downloaded and installed a set of stationery templates for Mail from
    http://www.jumsoft.com/stationery/
They work perfectly. The installer put them at the location I mentioned, but I have no idea whether the installer created that subfolder where I found them.
    Worth checking.

  • Creating New Stationery Templates

Running Lion, how do you create new stationery templates for Mail?  There are several articles in Google for Snow Leopard, et al, but nothing for Lion.  Same in this Forum - everything regarding stationery seems to be 2-3 years old???
Also, where do the JPG's for the current stationery reside??
    Thanks.
    Mark

As far as I know there is no way to place text on top of an attached image in Mail.
When you click on an image attached to Mail, the image is selected; when you then type in new text, the text replaces the image, just as it would replace any selected text.
You can add background color, set font face, style, and color for selected text, and do some other standard text formatting things.
But, Mail is not a word processor nor a page layout program. There is no word wrap-around for embedded (attached) images, nor the ability to layer text on top of such an image.
If you want to have text on top of an image, do that in another program (Preview or Pages, for example, depending on the complexity) and then attach the resulting composite to the email.
How it was done for the predefined templates is something I have not been able to replicate.

  • Mail Stationery Templates

The 30 or so professionally designed stationery templates that come as standard with the Mail application have disappeared from my computer. I know not how!!
    I am running OSX v 10.5.8 and Mail version 3.6 (936)
Where can I find the templates on my computer or where can I download them?
    Please advise

then reinstall Mail from the Leopard disk as Klaus says. this will not affect your Mail data in any way. it will just reinstall the Mail application. applications never contain any user data. that's stored in your home directory and will not be touched. after you reinstall Mail you'll also need to reinstall 10.5.8 combo update (download it by hand from the apple website) to bring Mail to its current version.

  • Stationery templates

I accidentally removed the stationery files from my MacBook. I cannot locate them on my 10.5.6 upgrade DVD. I need to know here I can get them and which directory to install them to. Mny thx for your help.
    Cheerz,
    Dave

default stationery templates are in /Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail/Stationery.
You can easily find them on the install DVD using Pacifist.

BTW, How did you manage to "accidentally" delete them without knowing where they are located?

  • Is the personal budget template monthly or yearly?  I am entering data for Jan.  How do keep track of Feb? Do I have to make a whole new budget?  If not, the formula adds expenses in a category together which would mean Jan. and Feb. would be added togeth

I think the personal budget template is a monthly budget and I have Jan. set up.  When it is Feb., do I have to download a new budget?
Also, there is a pie chart and all the pie chart has 6 colors.  If you have more than 6 categories, the colors repeat.  Is there a way to, for instance, assign 10 different colors when you have 10 categories so you will have an accurate pie chart?
I am using an iPad and Numbers app.

You dont have to download anything, just duplicate the current tab and reset your numbers. (tap the tab once and you get a choice of duplicate or delete.) You could then summarize across tabs if you liked.
It is just set up as a way of tracking a period, your choice of duration.
I get paid on the 1st and 15th, with distinct budgeting concerns for both periods (times are tight.). So we would do one for each two weeks to see how we did. Maybe double the budget numbers to get monthly numbers on another tab to track that month. Maybe then  copy paste that data into a YTD tab at the end of the month.
Whole bunch of ways to handle it. You dont have to stick with month by month tabs or files. Using some creative thinking, You can make it so on the YTD tab you type in a month or quarter and it shows that information through equations.

  • I need the old Personal Budget template as I have corrupted the formulae on mine

    Hi -
After the latest Numbers upgrade, they dont have the old personal budget template. I have stuffed mine up as I am rubbish at using spreadsheets. Where Can I get a copy of the original template? I dont like the new ones.
    thanks

    Hi Dick,
Glad to help. Thanks for the green tick.
I keep icons for both versions on my Dock as enjoy the strengths of each.
Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) on the left - 3 column graph
Numbers 3.0.1 (Numbers '13) on the right - 4 column graph
If Numbers 3 manages to snaffle a document, you can use Menu > File > Export To > Numbers ' 09.
We have been sweltering in 40 degree heat but today is cooler, at least in this part of Australia. Very dry though.

  • Income personal finance template

    Hi there,
I am trying to use Apple Numbers to do a budget for a very small business. The personal finance template looks great but I can't see how to include income as well as transactions. Can anyone help me find a way to do this very simply?
    Many thanks

    Hi beardyben,
If you have Numbers '09 on your computer (take a look in your Applications Folder for a sub-folder called iWork '09) there is a template called Checking Register with income as well as expenditure.
If you don't have Numbers '09, take a look here:
Where can I find a checkbook register template for Numbers for Mac?
That will show you http://www.freeiworktemplates.com/2008/03/numbers-08-checkbook-register-template /#download
Download the Numbers '09 version (not the Numbers '08 version).
Call back if you have problems with that in Numbers 3.
    Regards,
    Ian.
Edit: in the first link, Jerry shows how to adapt the Numbers 3 Personal Finance template.
