Making user account logins/passwords case sensitive?

Hi, just a quick question. Is it possible to make user account login/passwords be case sensitive? At the moment they are case insensitive.
Thanks :)

You can make only user account login case sensitive but not password.
SQL> create user "Test" identified by "tEST";
User created.
SQL> grant create session to "Test";
Grant succeeded.
SQL> conn test/test

  • Making user account logins case sensitive?

Hi, just a quick question. Is it possible to make a user account login name case sensitive? Currently I can log on using upper or lower case for the login name however I would rather only the exact login name could be used.
    Thanks

  • User Password case sensitivity issue.

    Hi,
I have been migrated users from EBS to OID, but having some issues like some existing users password in EBS are in Capital letters but when they connect with SSO the same password not accepted, but users can connect same password in small letters.
How I can solve this issue????????
    Senario:
1: Existing EBS User:(Before integration of OID+SSO), users are directly connecting with EBS.
    User Name: HINA.SARWAR-----------(Not case sensitive)
    Password: ABCDEF -----------( Case sensitive)
2: Existing EBS User:(After integration of OID+SSO), user are connecting via SSO.
Eexpected behavior is that users should logon with above pass "ABCDEF", but they cannot.
    eg:-
    Cannot connect as:
User Name: HINA.SARWAR -----------(Not case sensitive)
    Password: ABCDEF -----------( Case sensitive)
    Can connect as:
User Name: HINA.SARWAR -----------(Not case sensitive)
    Password: abcdef -----------( Case sensitive)
    thx

  • Oracle 11G password case sensitive option is not working.

    Hello,
I am facing problem in Oracle 11G. I installed and created a database. I disabled password case sensitive option by setting it to false (Pls see the below output). but case sensitive option is not disabled and i am not able to logon using the lower case password.
    SQL> connect sys/<pwd in lower case>@<connect string> as sysdba;
    ERROR:
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE.
    SQL> connect sys/<pwd in uppper case>@<connect string> as sysdba;
    Connected.
    SQL> show parameter SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    sec_case_sensitive_logon boolean FALSE
Any idea.... should i open the case in the metalink ?
    With Regards
    Hemant Joshi.

    Can you execute:
SQL> select USERNAME, PASSWORD_VERSIONS from dba_users where username = 'SYS';Have you tried reseting the sys password? When you create the password file by default the passwords stored on it are case sensitive, maybe you also need to rebuild it...

You need to restart the iMac and hold down the Command and R keys immediately.
You will then have the utilities drop down and you choose Terminal
    When Terminal opens, type exactly:
    resetpassword
    and press Return.
When the Reset Password window opens, select the user for which you want to change the password.
Enter the new password twice, and then click Save.
    Accept the next dialog window,
    And then Apply
When finished click the apple at the left side of the menu bar, and the Restart.

  • Oracle Passwords CASE Sensitive

My Oracle 9i DB is not CASE sensitive on my passwords. I can not find any info on what parameter I can change to make it case sensitive.
All documents I find on net tell me that Oracle is CASE sensitive by default why are my passwords not?
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
    David Miller

The topic they are typically were talking about being case sensitive is data insdie oracle db...
Also saw discussiona on use of " " (double quotes) on the ALTER USER command and password to make it specific to case.. Not sure where that came from at all...

  • User Account Login: Goes back to login Window

I have 4 accounts set up on an iMac (10.6). One of the accounts has suddenly stopped working. After typing in the password at the login screen, it looks as if the mac is trying to log in, the screen then turns blue, and the login screen is then displayed.
The other accounts all work fine, and I can log in and log out without issue.
    Any ideas?

I too have this frustrating problem. My iMac has three accounts - the login on my main one (an admin account) fails as described. I've tried many possible fixes having read about what could well be the same issue elsewhere on this forum, but no luck. I've rebooted many times; I've used a different account to change the malfunctioning account's password; I've checked the hard drive has plenty of space (it has more than 40% free); I've verified the hard drive (all fine); I've verified and repaired the disk permissions (a few were wrong); I've checked there are not too many files on the desktop; I have changed the UUID (in advanced options of Accounts) for the misbehaving account; and I have tried deleting a number of possible culprits from the Library/Preferences folder including com.apple.finder.plist, com.apple.sidebarlists.plist, com.apple.DiskUtility.plist and com.apple.loginitems.plist.
The problem appeared in stages. At first I could log in but Finder was displayed varying signs of corruptions: sidebar icons absent, the grey bar across the top of the screen not appearing, icons missing from the dock, programs in the dock not starting... A couple of times I managed to log in and found things working fine. But now I can't get in at all - I just see that blue screen for a moment and then get sent back to the login screen.
I wonder whether the some application that's run on start-up is to blame. I looked though com.apple.loginitems.plist for a possible culprit. I saw that it starts iTunesHelper, Kodak Easy Share Wireless Listener, Xmarks for Safari, GrowlHelperApp, and Dropbox. Finding Kodak Easy Share Wireless Listener was a surprise to me - I've uninstalled that. I wonder whether iTunes might be the culprit, as I think I upgraded to a new version of iTunes (9.1.1) shortly before the problems started. But it's hard to tell - I upgraded a number of programs (probably including the OS from 10.6.2) around when these problems began. I would like to try preventing other programs from starting up on log-in, but I don't know how to do that - I don't know how to edit com.apple.loginitems.plist by hand and can't see how to change it through the Accounts page accessed through another user... and anyway just deleting it didn't work. I'm reluctant to uninstall the other applications.
At this point I'm out of ideas and would be grateful for suggestions.

  • Networked user accounts, mail passwords not saving or notes?

    Hi there,
I have a mac mini set up as a server with latest software. On it i have 20 networked users which use between them for different mac mini's.
Problem which i have come across and i haven't found a solution yet. When i created them emails on there user accounts the incoming mail password won't save? On occasion i has saved, but once log out of the user and log back in the password has gone. which then it prompts me to keep typing the password in and won't save the password. This is very frustrating!!
I have also just noticed when i put message in notes and then log out and log in the the message has gone. This got me thinking it could be something with the user account not saving any data that put in? I don't really want to reformat the server if i don't have to.
If anyone has solution to this problem, it would really handy to know?

I click the Note button, nothing happens. The feature is completely out of service. I don't understand. Am I missing something obvious? I have tried the keystrokes too, no reaction at all, no errors, just can't use Notes, at all! rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Please help.
Update: I opened Console to see if I could find any errors immediate after trying to create a note and this is what I found:

  • Massive update for user account's passwords

    Hello experts,
For our customer we need to create 100 users at QA system (for testing purposes). The idea is to set the same password for all of them. For that purpose, I will set my mail account for all these users and I will receive all the mails with every user account data and the idea is to set the same password for all of them.
Do you know if there is any way to change all the passwords at once instead of doing one by one (by accessing to the system with every user account and change its password)?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Isaac

    Hello,
Possibility of mass password update will depend on your actual config:
    - are you On-Premise or On-Demand?
    - what type of directory configuration do you use? LDAP, SSO?
From within Sourcing this mass update cannot be done, but it might be possible to do with the help of the team that manages the directory itself.
    Regards,
    Bogdan

  • On the iMac user account login screen, what does the checkmark mean?

On my iMac, I have 3 user accounts. Sometimes I have noticed that next to 1 of the 3 account names that I will sometimes see a small white check mark in a red circle. What does this mean?

I just received the same login for the first time in a while.  I had left my MacBook Pro asleep for several days and then turned it back on and the wakeup/login screen presented a similar red circle with a white check mark inside.  Did you find an answer?  I created a new post today to see if anyone has had anything similar, not sure if it's firevault or not confirming id...
