Manage layout variants with no data in system

Working on a new production system with no work orders created yet. Is there a way to create (or transport in from another system) the layout variants? Running the list edit transaction gives a 'No objects were selected' and never displays the results screen.

Hi,
Create the required layouts in either Quality or Development clients. Then execute the particular report. In the report view, Go to Menu Settings => Layouts => Administration.
It will open Layout Management. Select the layouts to be transported & go to Menu Layout => Transport.
It will ask for Request ID. Save that request & transport that to required client.
I have not tried this. Please check in other clients before doing in Production.

What is wrong with my Data Guard system(10g10.2.0 on OEL5.0)? What method should I take to diagnose it and repair it?
After shutting down last night, my Data Guard does not run normally today.

The primary database cannot be opened and the fast_start failover cannot be discabled:

Setting up a Service Manager Lab environment with prod. data

Hi
I´m about to set up a lab environment with production data. I´m following the guide here; https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj900180.aspx
I have a question regarding the Management Group. The Lab environment will have the same Management group name. In the guide nothing is mentioned about changing the name of the management group.
Will this be a problem when i fire up the Lab environment?

install a secondary management server and stop the services, backup prod. db, restore prod db on the secondary server (lab-server), change a bunch of rows in different tables.
So naturally it will have the same management
group name.
Am i missing something?

Problem with show data of system R/3

Hi all,
I have a proyect with web dynpro, and i like get data of system R/3. I get this data with the connection JCO.
I have make all steps for crate the web dynpro and i see the application when deploy and run, but data of system R/3 i not see.
I have created a connection with Jco in Web dynpro Administrator and the test is good.
How can i make for get the data in the table of webdynpro?

Hi,
You mentioned that there is no problem with JCO connection, if it is so then you should check the mapping of attributes to to UI elements (Usually you will map Model(BAPI) to coustom controller and coustom controllet to View Check are you mapping attributes, then In view you should map UI elements to attriburtes(Value attributr/value node depending on the context).
And check in coustom controller's source code you are excuting a function module (Method to call function module /BAPI) and in WDINit method creat function module object similar to below mentioned code

Performance: How to manage large reports with high data volume

Hi everybody,
we actually make some tests on our BO server system, to define limitations and oppertunities. Among other things we constructed a large report with a high data volume (about 250.000 data records).
When executing the query in SAP Query Designer it takes about 10 minutes to display it. In Crystal Reports we rebult the row and column structure of the query. The data retrieval in Crystal Reports Designer last about 9 minutes - even faster as in the query.
Unfortunately in BO InfoView the report is not displayed. After 30 minutes of loading time we get a timeout error RCIRAS0244.
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.ras.internal.ManagedRASException:
Cannot open report document. ---
The request timed out because there has been no reply from the server for 600.000 milliseconds.
Also a refresh of an report with saved data is not possible.
Now we are asking us some questions:
1. Where can we set the timeout for InfoView to a value larger than 30 minutes?
2. Why is InfoView so slow compared to Crystal Designer? Where is the bottleneck?
3. Whats the impact of SAP single sign-on compared to Enterprise logon on the performance?

I will check the servers and maybe change the time limits.
Unfortunately we have a quite slow server system that probably cause this timeout. In CR Designer we have no problems, its really quick. Is it to expect that CR Designer and InfoView have almost the same performance?
Another nice point: When we execute the query in SAP BEx Query Designer it takes about 10 minutes to open it, in Crystal Designer it needs just about 5-6 minutes. We integrated exactly the same fields in the report, which exist in die SAP BEx query.
What may cause the difference?
- Exceptions and conditions in the query?
- Free characteristics in the query?
- anything else?

Dynamic current date variant with static date

I have a report that I want to execute with a variant that defaults dynamically to today's current date, but I also want to select based on if that date field is initial too. In one execution. So select record if date is either today's date (dynamically calculated) or date is initial.
Anyone know how I can do that?

Did you try to force value in the variant in the multiple value with a value equal to space? So it will be like default date as today's date and fixed values as space.
Force value in the sense we use fixed values in the selection screen.
If this is not working then do coding in infoset

Variant with Dynamic Date Calculation

I have a variant that includes a dynamic date calculation. I'm using the Current day -1 date calculation. Does the dynamic date calcuation use the time zone of the system or the time zone designated on the user id for the calcuation?

In SE38 choose the variant and for the fields you want to set the date fields as dynamic value you must choose the D - Dynamic Date Calculation options and make it as Current date.
This will solve your problem. When the variant is used for background/scheduled jobs it will use the execution date.

Issue in setting layout variant in ALV tables

Hi,
I have 2 ALV’s displaying in a view, 1’st is a header data & 2’nd Item data.
Based on the row selection in the Header ALV, the data is determined and displayed in the 2’nd ALV i.e., the Item data.
Now the 2’nd ALV (Item data) can contain 20 columns so based on certain requirement I want to save a layout variant with only 10 Columns for display in the 2’nd ALV.
But the issue what is happening is once I change my row selection in the 1’st ALV (Header data) the layout in the second ALV is refreshing back to the 20 fields EVEN though the name of the variant layout still displays the one I saved earlier.
I have searched the SCN for this issue and found http://scn.sap.com/thread/1986147, but it does NOT work.
Could anyone please suggest a solution.

Using Layout Variant in jobs that are scheduled to run in background

Hi Guys,
I have an issue in using the "layout variant" in running a report in the background. Here is what i do to run a report.
I select a "selection Variant" and at the bottom of the Report input screen, I choose an User- Specific "Layout Variant" which i have saved with few columns only to show in the report.
When i run this in foreground, i am able to get the report with my "Layout variant" with only my selected columns. I could also export this output and it looks fine in excel.
When i run the same report with the same "Layout Variant" in background and save it to my local desktop as an excel file, my "Layout Variant" doesn't seem to work and i am getting all the columns and fields of the reports as such.
Is this the way, the "Layout variants" will work? Whether this will not work in background jobs? Is this the way standard SAP work?
Please guide me...

MRP split purchase requisition with same date

Hi guru
When I run MRP, if there are more requirements for the same material with same date, the system creates one purchase requisition grouping requirements.
So, if I have two requirements of 3 and 2 pieces for material A, with date 18042015, the system creates one purchase requisition of 5 pieces
I tried to use a BADI in order to split purchase requistion and have in this case a purchase requisition of 3 pieces and another one of 2 pieces but maybe I wrong something because MRP works wrong.
Is there anyone that could give some tips about this request? Is there anyone that had same problem?

Hope your BAdI is working now.
MD51 is used for project. It creates replenishment orders against a WBS element. After this, you can run MD01 which will create replenishment order by material/plant level.

With the Marshal Plan, when create an instance of a manager, we need to talk to the system manager. Unfortunately sometimes these manager instances can be created before the Application class is created and/or before the systemManager property is set on the application. So to get the reference to the system manager from the manager instances, we can't use ApplicationGlobals.application.systemManager. We need to use SystemManagerGlobals.topLevelSystemManagers[0] instead. This property is set in the SystemManager constructor, and fortunately for us, Flash runs your root display object's constructor before anything else, even before static initializers (atleast ones not defined in SystemManager or a dependency of it).

What the reason to create an instance like this
within the same class. We can create this instance of
point
class when ever we need. There doesn't seem to be any in your code, since that variable is never accessed. It could be useful if you wanted to have a Point that was shared across all instances. This is not a good example of that though.

Why does the date/time scale info vary with the timezone of the machine running the browser?

I have a system monitoring application (Uptime) that displays graphs with time/date data. The times displayed on a given set of data vary depending on where the browser is located.
For example the site is hosted on a server in the US running on EDT. I select data for a period say midnight to 6am EDT. If I display that on a Firefox client also running on EDT the timescale shows 00:00 to 06:00. If I display that same data on a browser on a desktop in London it shows a timescale of 05:00 to 11:00.

There are two different issues going on for shaolex.
1) Bug in iMovie 9.0.6+ which will add or substract your GMT time to the original time the video was shot.
2) The way iPhones save the date and time to the file. iPhone video files have the date and time the video was FINISHED instead of when it STARTED. The right aproach to fix this is to import the video to iPhoto and then drag and drop the clip into a iMovie event, then right click the clip in the Event window, then click CHANGE DATE AND TIME, and substract the lenght of the video from the time shown.
i.e. The video is 00:45:00 long, iMovie shows it as taken at 10:45:00. Change it to 10:00:00
Other phones do the same but most of them write the date and time correctly on the filename.

ALV unwanted data from old layout variant

All,
We are using 6.0 and have a customized report that uses ALV.   I have a layout variant I use that contains the field PRICE.   We want to exclude PRICE from this report and the developers have made the code changes.   However, when I execute the report with the old variant the PRICE field appears (in the header and the data).   When I use a variant created after the code change the PRICE field does not appear.
What needs to be done to eliminate the PRICE from ever showing up when I use the old layout variant?

Thank you for your responses.   They were both very helpful.   As I dug into this further, I understand now from my abap developer that to make the code changes per Surendar's e-mail would require a significant amount of code changes in this specific case. He tried to explain that to me earlier and I didn't understand. Because we are looking to eliminate this report soon we do not want to make that investment of time.
