Managed accounts do not go away?

Created an account for myself, different email,  to test out Skype Manager along with a few other people.
All good.
Now I need to create a new manager account to manage the accounts of another company and would like to use the email account I used for the test.
Of course it says that the account I created for myself under the previous manager profie cannot be used for a new manager profile given accounts can only be bound to 1 profile - ok.
So I deleted the account from the profile and checked it was gone. It was.
I tried to create a new manager account but it says this account still exisits...ok...but I cannot login to it.
So I ask for the password reset and it sends me the email, I reset the password, system says good, but I cannot login.?
Tried again ....same result....
How long does it take an account to die? The above stuff was done the same day over several hours.
thanks
B.

  • Manage Account does not appear in the options sync tab. How do I manage my account to get the recovery key?

I cannot sync my Firefox 18 desktop with iPad or iPhone browsers. I have tried everything suggested on the Web and have tried safe mode as well. When I enter the three-line synch code, I get a sync failure. I have deleted my account and then set up a new account without success. Manage Account does not appear in the options sync tab. How do I manage my account to get the recovery key?
I’ve spent hours on this and am considering using Chrome as my regular browser since I have no trouble syncing Chrome with apps. Help appreciated.

You can only inspect the sync key via manage account if this device is has been setup and is connected to the sync server.
You can find the sync account password and the sync (recovery) key in the password manager on computers where a sync account with a specific e-mail address has been set up.
    Look for:
    * chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password)
    * chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)
You can look at this version of the about:synckey extension that I have modified to show the sync key in current Firefox versions (desktop and mobile).

  • Need help setting up CS6 to run under a managed account on 10.8

I'm desperately trying to get my computer labs set up for the new school and have been unable to get CS6 applications to run under a managed account on OS X 10.8.
No matter how I try to allow access, I get an error relating to one of the following applications:
    - adobe_licutil
    - CS6Service Manager
    - dynamiclinkmanager
I have a class that needs to use Illustrator on Wednesday and I can't figure out a way to allow the students to open the software.
Any help / advice / idea would be greatly appreciated.

Well, as I said in a previous input (check the list on the forum again), it took second level Adobe support to say that CS6 would run with Mountain Lion on Managed accounts, but not on Snow Leopard.
Possibly from lack of knowledge, I haven’t been able to use Workplace Manager from my Snow Leopard Server to manage the users, which is why I am using Parental Controls.
The list of apps (sub-apps?) that you gave are the same ones I had as issues before I purged Parental Controls.
If you have to use Parental Controls, you will only be able to get a few units ready by next Wednesday.
P.S.  I got the same crap from Adobe chat.  It took raising a commotion to get Second Level support and that I would have to go to Mountain Lion.  And I didn’t need to go to 10.8.1 before it worked OK.

  • HT204053 I recently changed ny Apple ID but it did not transfer over to my iCloud account. How do I change my iCloud ID? The login popup for iCloud will not go away so I cannot get into my iPad since it pops up as soon as I turn the device on.

I recently changed my Apple ID but it did not transfer over to my iCloud account. How do I change my iCloud ID? The password for the new Apple ID does not work since the iCloud default user name is imbedded in the login box. The login popup for iCloud will not go away so I cannot get into my iPad since it pops up as soon as I turn the device on and re-occurs every few seconds.

You have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Web browsers not connecting from Managed Accounts

I was out of town last week when my daughter called to say that her iMac has developed a very strange problem. Suddenly, Saturday afternoon, users of the managed accounts could no longer connect to the internet via Safari 5.0.2. The Administrator's and two other Standard accounts worked fine. I could not think of anything that might cause the problem but I did suggest that she create another Managed account. It has the same problem.
Today I went over to her house and spent 4 hours cleaning, repairing, and just doing everything I could. But to no avail! Strangely, iTunes connects to the Apple Store in the these accounts. I tried Firefox and it too would not connect. And it is not just the gear grinding away - the "cannot connect ..." message pops up right away.
I created a new Standard account and I could connect fine.
    She has a 2006 iMac running 10.5.8
Her router is an Airport Express (which I reset)
    Safari version is 5.0.2
    Firefox was 3.6.10
    Please help. Thanks
PS I originally made the mistake of posting in the 10.6 topics - Sorry

I found the following information in the Console log:
    com.apple.familycontrols (2014) Internal Error: Error retrieving file /Library/Applications Support/Apple/Parental Control/Content Filtering/httpd.pid
abnormal termination of /usr/sbin/httpd (returned 1)
I looked the file up in the library. It is there. Is this a file that can be safely deleted and it will re-generate itself?

  • Applications running under Managed Account not able to connect to servers

My kids use a Managed Account on my MacBook (running Lion).  They have two games (Roblox and Minecraft) which can not connect to their particular game servers.  These games work fine when running under the Administrator account.  I believe that the ports that these games are trying to connect to may be blocked when running under a Managed Account.  The firewall is disabled.  Is there a way to open up specific network ports to programs running under Managed Accounts?

Still don't have an anwer for you, but just a few thoughts... So it would seem that creating a Managed account automatically invokes some user account firewall settings, since the game works under your admin account. I was  able to access the System Prefs under a managed account to see about opening up the port in question, but if this is indeed the problem, the firewall isn't the GUI kind.
It's possible that there would be a terminal command to do so, but I wouldn't have a clue about how to do that.

  • Mail Account directory Will NOT go away!

A long time ago I set up an account for my friend to use on my web server and on my local computer (osx mail app). It's long since been deleted from Mail>preferences and on the server side.
    But, in the directory, users:(user-x):Library:Mail:V2:
The old account keeps generating a directory that looks like this [email protected] (the mail server IP).
This will populate with the default mailboxes like in-box, junk, trash, etc.
you can trash it and it comes back as soon as the mail app checks for mail.
How can this be if it is a deleted account on the local computer and the user has been deleted from the server side?
And how can you make this go away?

I have not messages but the icon will not go away. I have taken the battery out to try that but no luck.
Turn your phone off...then call your mobile phone number from another phone and leave a message. Turn the phone on and then go to your voicemail and listen to the message. Listen and then delete it; then press the appropriate key to disconnect from voicemail, don't just hang up. That should clear the "voicemail" icon, if not, turn the phone off and then back on.

  • Camera will not show for import in managed account

In my administrator and one managed account, when I connect my kodak digital camera it displays for import. In another managed account despite enabling access to image capture, selecting iphoto for import in image capture and fixing permissions, neither image capture or iphoto show the kodak camera for import. I also tried removing the preference files from that user's library for iphoto and image capture. Help!

    Hi ckauf49!
    Thanks for the post.
The camera may not show an image on the LCD screen if the camera is not set for live view shooting.  However, it will always display the menu on the screen if you press the MENU button.  If it does not, then the camera will need to be serviced.  To start this process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.

  • Speech & Voice Recognition do not work in a new "managed" account...

    Hello everyone!
I created a new managed account and cannot get Speech Recognition to be accessed by the new account.
I need to restrict the software the user can access, but have set user to be able to open system preferences and allowed supporting programs. However, when I try to turn on speech recognition from the Speech control panel from the managed account, I only have the option to adjust Text to Speech. If I click Speech Recognition, the preference pane remains empty.
Does anyone know who to allow a managed user to use Speech Recognition?
    Thanks in advance!
    Dave

Like Superman, here I am to save the day! I can help you with your service in your home area dizzymslizzie. Let's start with what zip code are you in? Can I assume that there isn't any physical or liquid damage on the iPhone 5? Recently, there has been an update to the iPhone to iOS 7. If you have done this update then please provide the exact carrier version that's installed. Keep in mind that there is a difference in device performance between iOS 7 and the iOS 7 beta version. As you share this info, I will check the area to re-affirm that the issue is or is not network related.
    Thank you...

  • Admin password works within admin account, not in standard/managed account

My admin username and password work within my admin account but when I try to use them to override changes in my wife's or my daughter's standard / managed accounts it does not work. If I want to allow the application firewall or to change parental controls there is a request for an admin password. I know that the username and password are correct and the account has not been made a standard account by upgrading. I have read the other threads about the problems found by some users in 10.5 but this is different as it is definitely still an admin account, it just seems as if it not recognised as such outside the admin account itself.
Hope my description of this makes sense to someone. Any help would be appreciated.

Are your wife's or daughter's accounts using keyboard layouts that might be remapping some of the characters to a different key? Are any of these characters in the admin password?
Also, you should be using the "short" user name of the admin account when authenticating. Normally the short user name has no capital letters in it. Check the short user name in System Preferences -> Accounts.
Suggestion: Create a fourth account, make it an admin account, and then remove admin rights from your own user account. Unnecessarily running all the time as admin is bad security practice. Apple recommends only logging in to the admin account to do admin tasks, and doing all of your day-to-day work in a non-admin account.

  • Firefox freezes or does not go away when closed I need to use window task manager

In Windows 7 Firefox often freezes or will not go away even if I close it.
So far the only way to resolve this issues if it last is to close it with Windows Task Manager.
Which obviously means that if I was frozen I loose any other tab that is open

The "Manage Devices" button is not there because you don't have any computers or devices enabled for automatic downloads.  After following the steps contained in the link below, the button will appear in your account information page.
