Manual Column width in iGrid

Hi together,
I have a problem with setting manual column width for an iGrid. In the help is said, that the width values in the section "Layout" only take effect if automatic scaling is not enabled. At the moment I can set width to whatever I want without any change in the view. So I think automatic scaling is enabled.
What I couldn't find in the help is how to disable automatic scaling in order to set the column widht manually.
Anybody has a tip for me?

I specified the property that was available in xMII 11.5.
Considering that you are using 12.0, could you try placing the parameter in the Applet Tag in the HTML.
<PARAM NAME="AutoResizeColumns" VALUE="false">

How to control column width in manual posting ?

Hi gurus,
I have some manual posting tasks with associated document types. In some of them when you get into the screen to record the manual data, the columns titles are so wide that the rigthmost columns get out of the screen and one needs to scroll horizontally.
Is there some way in wich I can fix columns width? I think if I narrow manually the columns and then fix this layout?

I beleive you work in the language other than English. I encounter this very annoying system's behaviour while working in Russian.
I know that some notes are dedicated to solving of this or that problem in particular language.
The easiest way to make some "stubborn" settings is to do it in English and the return to your locale.

How can I modify column width in a spreadsheet report without using an Excel template

I currently use the LabVIEW Report Generation toolkit in LabVIEW 2011SP1 to create simple spreadsheet reports that I can build/print without having Microsoft Office products installed. I really like being able to do this, and it allows me to generate nice on-demand data reports - I'm also not tied to having Office installed on the system I'm using, so this works on just about any test fixture I can install the software on.
I recently have a requirement that I must have variable-length columns in my report. I currently use the VI "Append Text Table to Report" in order to create a text table, but the column width requirement is that all columns must be equal width UNLESS I use an Excel Template file to define my column widths.
My questions are:
Is it possible to create a text table and define per-column widths without using an Excel Template? If so, how? My report mainly has a lot of small numerical values for the columns, but some columns contain system names or status messages - I really hate the longer text blocks wrapping and taking up so much real-estate when if I could control the column widths I can get all my data on a single line.
I'll admit I haven't tried this myself yet, but if I use an Excel Template will that require me to have Excel installed on the PC in order to print/generate reports?
Is there a recommended way (with an example) of generating a text table in a report with or without using the "Append Text Table to Report" VI that allows me to have custom column widths that doesn't require me to manually build a custom print page? If I do have to create a custom print page, what would be the most straightforward approach?

Sure, I'll provide a pared down example that demonstrates my use-case:
I have a control to the VI that takes in a 2D array of strings representing the data I want printed in a table. I am generating a standard report, adding a table to the report, and printing it. The first VI is "New Report.vi", the second VI is "Append Table to Report.vi", and the third is "Print Report.vi", all found standard in the Report Generation palette.
Note that the "Append Table to Report.vi" has an input parameter "Column Width" with a default value of (1). This input parameter is a single input parameter, which defines the column widths of ALL the columns in my table - hence, with the VI the way it is, all my columns will be 1 inch wide.
I find myself needing to be able to define per-column widths, not just a single global column width parameter.
The only way I have found to do this is by using an Excel template file. The "New Report.vi" takes in a "template" parameter, and if used, the report generation toolkit can be set to ignore the "Column Width" input parameter on the "Append Table to Report.vi" by setting the width value to -1. Instead it will launch Excel, open the template file provided, build the table using the template, will close Excel, and will attach the generated table to the report. However, I have a strict requirement that Microsoft Office NOT be required to be installed on the computer.
So, without using Excel, is there a way to generate a table in a report and define the width of each column individually?

Is it possible to resize page column widths at runtime (by the user)?

hi all,
i have cretaed a page using the 2-columns narrow/wide layout. this layout is perfect for what i want to do.
however, the users have complained that they would like to be able to resize the columns, just like they are able to do with the Detailed Navigation column (using the small "<" and ">" arrows).
is it posssible to add this functionality to my custom pages so that can also resize the columns?
i searched for options in the properties, but didn't find anything.

I took profdant139's suggestions a bit further as my real goal was to have the "Document column" narrower. The goal to be able to see all the other document info that was usually hidden way out to the right
To achieve my results I right clicked in the upper bar with the column names and chose from the drop down box "comments" column (as suggested). I then dragged it to the far right. This pushed all the other columns over.
In the end of the day I ended up adding "Size" and "Date modified" columns as well to get my desired results.
Remember one can move different columns around to be in the order you need by clicking on the column to get it active and then left click and drag it to where you want
Another great thing is that by default (Using Mavericks) the date modified, opened,created columns have date and time. One can shrink them down to xx/xx/xx format by manually adjusting the column width like one does in Excel - click on column separator up top and drag

Cover flow column widths

Hi everyone,
Is there any way in which I can set the widths of the columns in the finder window when I am using Cover Flow?
When I open up a new window, the column width for the first column is huge:
So I often resize it manually to a more reasonable size:
The thing is, it always opens up with the huge first column. Is there any way I can make them stay the same size with all new windows?
I have been through the finder options but can't find the answer there. I have also used the "Use as defaults" button in the finder options, but it doesn't stick the column widths.
Anyone got any ideas?

Is it possible to set default column widths in list view when using a finder window in Mavericks?

The default 'document' column is way too wide and forces you eye to track all the way across the screen to read info like "date modified', 'kind' or 'size'.
Tried several times to create a narrower default 'document name' column with no results. Couldn't find anything in preferences or view options. Tried dragging column headers while holding the down the option key with no results.
Every time I open a new finder window, all columns except the 'document' column affixed to the right side of the window. Also, when you grab the bottom right corner of a window to resize smaller, the lists become re-affixed to the right side of the window when opening the window back up.
Experiencing the same problem in Mavericks 10.9.3 on an iMac and Macbook Pro Retina.

How to import many large graphic images to fit into column width?

I have a 2-column layout and about 150 large graphic images which must be imported so that they fit exactly into the column width. These are bitmaps which have all the same dimensions. All of them will need a border (stroke). And they should be inline graphics because they belong to exact positions in the text flow.
What would be the sensible approach to that (apart from scripting which I have not done yet)? I tried to define an object style which has the attribute "Fit content to frame", but this does not scale the image to the column size. How can I avoid to format 150 those images manually?

It may be easier to change the ppi in photoshop so the image can be placed at the exact size.
so if the image is 10 inches and the file is 300 ppi
with resample image unchecked change the width to whatever you want it say 2 inches no the ppi will automatically change to 1500 ppi. Save. If you are creating a PDF make sure these images are not downsampled if you need the resolution.
another way if all images are the same size would be to size one and place it where all the images go and relink to the other pics, when you relink it should retain the properties of the previous pic.

Prob with fixed column widths and word wrapping in viewer

i have a report where each record has a very long paragraph of text in it.
In desktop and plus, the text column is at a fixed width and the text just wraps nicely according to the column width.
But in Viewer, the column widths do not stay fixed, the text does not wrap, and the long text is displayed in a single line that completely stretches the column width off the page and requires a horizontal scroll bar.
is there anyway to fix the column width in viewer, have the text naturally wrap, and prevent the column stretching. All word wrapping settings are on, but seem to have no effect. I can't seem to find any solution to this.

Per my understanding that you can't see the vertical scrollbar of the ReportViewer controls 2012 to scroll for the grid rows, but can see the vertical scrollbar of the web application, you also can't fix the headers while scrolling, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can't reproduce your issue, but you have an alternative way to add some css to the web form's source code to display the vertical scrollbar.

Please check below properties setting of the reportviewer which control the visibility of the scrollbar:

SizeToReportContent="false"
Please check if this problem also occur on other version of IE and other type of browser.
Please check if you have done correct setting of the Fix data to freeze the table header as the step of below:

Apache FOP Problem with column width

We are using Apache FOP to generate simple pdf documents out of reports.
My problem is that the table in the pdf is as standard filled in with columns of same length.
Further on the content of some table fields is to large or sometimes there is to much room.
is there any possiblity to let fop react like html?
The smallest table field size should be like the content. I don't want to adjust all my reports, cause there are really many reports with pdf printing.
anyone an idea how to solve this with FOP?
i have no BI pubisher or other reporting engines for this problem

I think what you're looking for is having your column width automatically adjusted based on the content of your column values. That is not possible with the built-in, generic XSL-FO template. What you can do is manually adjusting the column width to appropriate values on the print attributes page.

Can't change column width

Hi
I'm working on an existing site (and learning as I go). I was
just trying to get some boxes to line up in the navigation bar and
pulled it too wide to see if my adjustements were appearing in the
browser. Now I can't change it back to the proper size. I've tried
changing it in the HTML, the properties, the CSS, by manually
pulling on the box handle (it lets me go wider, but not narrower)
and it always reverts back to the wide size.
You can see from the screen shot that the proper width is
showing, but the actual column width is in parenthesis. This is the
width that I can't seem to get rid of. OK, never mind about the
screen shot - I can't post one here, crap.
This is what the column width looks like 147 (196). I cannot
get rid of the 196 and when I pull the image narrower, all my code
bounces back to 196 even though I've changed it to 147.
I've attached the code, but I don't see what anyone can do -
code says 147 - column width remains 196. Please help me change it!
Also, I just saw the posting that appeared right before me on
the same topic. My site is not live yet so I'm sorry that you can't

if that helps - at least it's showing the correct navbar width.
And padding is not the problem, already looked at that.
Just looked at the existing site in Dreamweaver and the
navbar is also stretching out to 196! Did I do something to change
defaults in the navbar that is applying to all files I open? I'm
going to close it and make sure I don't save it...
I hope this will be a quick and easy answer for someone...

can you try edit view--> view properties --> Text and Align tab--> select field you want to change --> check width and give number of pixels.

Is there a way to adjust the column width of only one cell

Using iWork '09: specifically Keynote '09 and want to adjust the column width of just one cell in the column, not the other cells in the whole column just this one individual cell. Have no idea how to do it though. Checked the manual and this discussion group as well as youtube and found nothing.

Perfectly normal, this feature is unavailable.
Keynote, Numbers and Pages use quite the same code to build tables which are in fact spreadsheets and this code doesn't offer this feature.
As you don't give many details, look at the merge cells feature.
Given your exact problem, it may be a soluce.

Go To F-32
Choose From Menu
Setting --> Change line Layout
Double click the layout that appears
Double click the Assignment Field
Change the display length to 17 as per your requirement
and save

Cannot change column width

Hi, when my 3rd gen nano is connected and iTunes is open and I am in my nano library, I cannot change the column width.
When I try to change the column width in the iTunes library it's no problem, but once in the nano library I cannot.
What gives ?

Uncheck *Manually manage music*, click Apply then again check *Manually manage music*.
I don't like auto sync.
Any reason in particular?
You can create specific playlists and autosync only those.
Add/delete form these playist to add/remove form theiPod.
Using autosync is the only way all the info (ratings, playcounts, date played, etc) will get transferred back to iunes.

So, I would like to create a grid with two columns of different widths. From what I can tell, the only way to do this is to manually adjust column guides on a master page and then flow in my text.
The only problem is that InDesign creates separate frames for each column instead of a 2-column frame. I can't have any ¶ styles span the columns.
Does anyone have a creative solution for this? I would really prefer not to use separate text frames any time I want to span columns.

Depending on the specific needs of the text flow, you might be able to use some combination of a multiple-column layout, span-column properties, left and right indents, text frame insets, and master-page frames with text wrap properties, so achieve your goal. By "multiple-column layout" I'm thinking of the technique of designing page grids with many columns, and placing page content across one, two, or more columns; in this fantasy, I'm thinking of different span-column properties. For example, with a six-column grid, paragraphs could span one, two, three, four, five or all six, to give the effect of different column widths in the text frame. I've done only the barest minimal experiment; it seems promising. It would take some effort to create, but setting the necessary properties by using styles, the effect could maintain itself without manual intervention, so the development effort would be returned every time you use it.
