Many fluttering lights

I have a HP Officejet 6000 Wireless printer.  It has been acting erraticly lately and now it won't work at all.  The power light, resume light and all four ink lights are fluttering or blinking at a high rate of speed.  When I open the lid, the carriage will not move to the center.  The printer won't turn off, either.  I read somewhere that when you have a non-recoverable error to disconnect the power cable to the printer, disconnect the power cable from the power, wait 60 seconds and then reverse the process.  When I do that, the printer comes on by itself without me having to press the power button with the same buttons flickering as before.  When I push the power button, the resume light and ink lights go off and the power light is a steady green for several seconds after which the resume and ink lights turn on and all start flickering again.  Any suggestions?

  • Mac OS 10.4.3 and Sleep Light Update

    So, after installing Mac OS 10.4.3 update through Software Update on my Rev. A iMac G5 I have experienced the same "fans at full blast" issue that others have reported on reboot. However, the fans went back to normal speed after the system loaded the Finder.
    I now just noticed that the sleep light is very bright during the night time hours so I am guessing that this update removes the infamous and troublesome (for many) sleep light firmware update. Can anyone else confirm this?

    Finally I find how to reset CORRECTLY the SMU and resolve the problem about the sleep light!
    Pay attention, because to reset the SMU in iMac rev A - the first generation - like mine (dec. 2004) must open the backside of Mac and following the instruction like here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301283
    at the point 11.
    In a few words, disconnect all the plugs, open the back, reconnect the power cord, (in the center a little green led is on) ....
    Press the SMU reset button (the small, metal button next to the internal power button, shown below) to reset system and power management.
    Its work. wow
    take care ;))

  • Lighting

    One of the key elements to taking an exceptional photograph is using proper lighting, and lighting techniques.  I’d like to discuss the different types of lighting we offer, and how they can benefit you next time you’re out shooting.
    External Flash – External flash units attach to your camera using the hot shoe mount at the top of your camera.  While each flash has something different to offer, and their specifications vary greatly from flash-to-flash, they all carry the same general concept.  An external flash offers an immediate burst of light that can be directed at your subject and/or ‘bounced’ to create the effect you’re looking for.
    Internal Flash –Much like external flash units, internal flashes offer an immediate burst of light.  However, they are much more simple in that the camera traditionally chooses all of the settings automatically.  Internal flashes are generally integrated within your camera.
    Soft Boxes – Nearly every studio I’ve been in, there have been a wide variety of soft boxes.  Soft boxes are lighting sources and diffuse light towards the subject.  They’re often made of a white fabric-style material that diffuses light.  Using continuous lights and strobes within a soft box is a great way to get even, and consistent light on your subject.
    LED lighting – LED lights are traditionally used with camcorders to provide a bright continuous light.  However, many LED lights include a shoe mount to make them compatible with DSLR cameras.  In addition to mounting on your camera, LED lights are also made to work with studio lighting stands for use in studios.
    Strobe Lighting – A strobe is defined as a “device that throws a large spark through a tube filled with gas in order to produce light.”  Much like internal and external flash unites; strobes produce a sudden burst of light.  One great advantage to strobe lighting is its ability to provide bursts of light as quickly as 1/50,000th of a second, which means you wouldn’t need to worry about your camera, or the subject moving.  Strobe lighting traditionally produces the same color as daylight, making it great for fill lighting outdoors.
    Reflectors – When you’re shooting outside, and don’t have an independent light source, using reflectors can be a great alternatives.  Reflectors can be used by ‘bouncing’ light from the sun towards your subject.

    Hello, Paul,
    Like everything else I own, my SightLight works well for what it is designed to do but not very well for some things.
    SightLight is
    b NOT
    a $40 studio lighting system. Those who intend to use SightLight as their ONLY light source and expect natural-looking lighting will likely be disappointed.
    My (brick and mortar) Apple VAR, from whom I bought my SightLight, told me about this, and offered to let me return it if it did not meet my needs in my room. He was correct about its performance limits, but I kept mine.
    I find my SightLight especially useful for wireless portable video in dark places. Because it runs off my iBook's battery, I do not need to carry a separate battery operated light. In use, SightLight gives a cold, blue cast that is NOT flattering to human faces, but, in some cases, even cold, blue light is better than no light or looking into the beam of a flashlight.
    For additional lighting at my Desktop setup, I use a cheap, clamp-on lamp like this one. I bought my lamp from a local discount retailer for about $6 US. I added a 9 watt "warm" fluorescent bulb and turn the lamp on only when needed. I turn it off when I am not doing video because it
    b does
    need to shine on my face to light me enough in my (rather dark) room.
    I like my SightLight, but I do NOT use it every day.

  • E52 Keypad Light LEAKS!!

    Hey,
    Bought an E52 this week..of many Many keypad light leaks..the one below the Home key's the worst; you can actually see an LED. In low light situations, this actually gets to you.
    This picture is from a Lebanese handset reviewed by somebody at Symbian-Guru..its the same in my Indian handset..
    Went to a Nokia Care centre where they showed me a spare keypad cover..I turned it around and there's a HOLE in that spot on all E52 keypads!!
    If somebody could please explain the logic behind this...?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gopi A.

    I suppose it's not just on the E52 then. The light leakage also occurs in the E72 and many have mentioned this flaw, thinking it's only their unit that has this design defect.
    In the E72, it has exactly the same light leaking under the Home key. There's also a slighter light leaking beside the left soft-key and also beside the right-soft key. (probably not as bad as the E52 for the light leaks on the sides of the soft-keys).

  • HP 1102W no longer connects to network

    After many months of trouble-free use, I can no longer print from my laptop (Toshiba Satellite E 105-S1402).  Each job ends with "Error printing."  I downloaded the Diagnostic Utility (which told me my printer was not found on the network). The first self test page said I was connected but said the IPv4 address and the Gateway address were the same (not good?).  I thought the drivers might need updating.  So I tried to a wireless installation of the software but the URL would not load.  Then I did a USB installation.  But that did not help. I still cannot print.  And I must have pressed the wrong buttons, because now the self test shows 0.0.0.0 for both (and the IP configure is now "Manual" instead of AutoIP.) The blue wireless light is NOT illuminated; when I push it I get a fluttering light that eventually disappears. In short, everything is worse.  I am running Windows Vista 64 bit with Service Pack 2.
    Can anyone help a poor old technoprimitive? Thank you.

    The product you have is a commercial printer. I suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a solution.

  • I can't save properly, I can't use effects properly, and I need HELP!!

    I've had iMovie HD 6 for a while now. It was quite lovely at first. It did exactly what I wanted it to do, and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. I use it often, and I have quite a few iMovie files saved to a special folder because sometimes I need to edit my movies later on.
    For a while now (around eight months or so) I've been struggling with iMovie. iMovie is winning. My first and biggest problem is the fact that my iMovie files won't save properly. All my movies are in the place I want them to be, I save, and then I exit iMovie. The next day I open up the file to work on my movie, and everything is gone except for titles, photos, stillframes, background music and sound effects, and any clips that I edited. I've been dealing this by simply never exiting iMovie while I'm working on a project. iMovie will stay open for days (sometimes weeks) at a time until I finish and can put it onto iDVD and burn it. It burns fine. Another way I've been dealing with it is by editing every single clip in my movie with the effect settings placed so that nothing is actually changed. For instance, I'll use the Hue Adjust effect on every clip, but I won't touch the settings on it so that all the clips look exactly the same as before. This worked well for a while, and it brings me to my second problem...
    My second problem is that I can't use my effects properly anymore! Over the months, more and more effects would become unusable. Now I don't have any that work properly. For instance, if I try to use the Fairy Dust effect, I will still have a sparkle going across the clip as I'm supposed to, but the entire clip will be many shades lighter as if I used Brighten and Contrast to make the clip lighter even though I didn't. It is the same for every other effect now. They work, but they make the clip they are used on lighter.
    One more problem is that I can't export to Quicktime with Full Quality. If I do full quality, the movie freezes at a single frame partway through the movie while the audio keeps going. I always assumed that this was because the file was too large to work properly, but if I could export my movies with full quality, I would feel better about deleting my iMovie project files. It's always done this. It's not a new thing.
    Wow, I have way too many problems with iMovie. Help with any one of them would be greatly appreciated! I really need to do something about this soon. I've tried reinstalling iMovie, but there was no difference. Thank you so much!

    It would be a good idea to do close down all programs and do a permissions repair. Use the Utilities/Disk Utility application on your Mac hard drive and follow the on screen directions.
    After that, with iMovie closed trash the file com.apple.iMovie.plist file located in User/Library/Preferences. iMovie will create a new file on relaunch.
    If you are storing your project on an external hard drive, make sure that your external hard drive is formatted for Apple. Should be Mac OS extended. If you reformat, first remove all of your data on the external drive to another drive, because reformatting will erase all data on the drive.
    Update all of your iLife programs to current, particularly Quicktime.
    Finally, make sure that you have enough free disk space on your startup drive--at least 10GB, and more is better.

    Depends on how many stage lights they have on Lol, but yes, I would have killed for a backlit keyboard when I DJ'ed, thought I touch type, so it wasn't that big of a problem.
    Lex > Yes, but it really depends on what the purpose of the laptop is in the setup. If they're going to be running the show on it, a Windows laptop will work just as well, as you said, just needs the fastest CPU/RAM they can afford.

  • LT12: how to manipulate the handling unit

    Dear all,
    This is my first message on this forum and I've seen many bright lights on this forum so I have high hopes of your response to my question : )
    When I want to confirm a transfer order with trx LT12, 2 Handling Units (HU) are assigned (which can be seen in the lower part of the screen). I have 2 items in my active worklist (different storage units) and can modify some fields, including the HU. For some reason both items have the same HU (the upper one of the assigned HU). I would like the first item to have the first HU and the second item to have the second HU.
    My question is simple (and I had thought this would be possible but I've tried a LOT and did not succeed, hence my cry for help here): is there a possibility to manipulate the Handling Unit before it is shown on the screen? I did not seem to find a suitable BADI/user exit.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your efforts!
    With kind regards,
    Roel van den Berge

    Dear Roel van den Berge
    if iam not wrong you can achieve the same by  TO split
    Transfer Order Split
    Use
    To optimize processes in the warehouse, it often makes sense to split up putaways and stock removals into smaller packets according to certain criteria. In doing so, it is important, for example, to:
    •     Distribute the workload equally amongst the warehouse workers
    •     Optimize stock movements in the warehouse according to certain criteria.
    The transfer order (TO) represents a work package and determines the actual workload for a putaway or stock removal. It can therefore make sense to split a single, extensive transfer order into several smaller transfer orders. During the TO split, the system creates several smaller packets from one large one.
    During the TO split, the TO items are divided up between one or more TOs. A TO split does not however mean that the system divides individual items of a TO into smaller TO items.
    Prerequisites
    1.     You define the criteria according to which the TO split is to occur in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Activities  Transfers  Processing Performance Data/TO Split  Define Profiles.
    a.     To define a TO sort profile, choose Sort profile for TO splitting.
    In the sort profile for the TO, you define the criteria according to which you want to sort the items in a transfer order before the actual split.
    For each of these sort criteria, you define whether the system is to sort the transfer order items in ascending or descending order.
    Before the actual dynamic TO split, you must sort the corresponding TO according to certain criteria. By sorting the TO items, you ensure that the TO split is sensibly executed and that no nonsensical TO splits occur.
    b.     To define a TO split profile, choose Profile for Transfer Order Splitting.
    c.     You assign your sort profile to the TO split profile by entering it in the field Sort profile.
    2.     You determine when the TO split should take place in the Customizing for warehouse management under Activities  Transfers  Processing Performance Data/TO Split  Control for Performance Data Processing/Define TO Split.
    You also assign a key to the TO split profile, consisting of a warehouse number, movement type, source storage type and destination storage type.
    Features
    Standard Sorting of TO Items
    Control of the TO split occurs on the basis of the sort. The system defines the sequence of the items in the transfer order before the actual TO split via the sort, so that the sequence of the TO items corresponds to an optimal sort sequence for later processing.
    Since the system always executes the forced split of the transfer order items according to the forced split criteria, the system always sorts the TO items in the standard sort in accordance with the forced split criteria in the order that the forced split criteria are processed.
    Forced Split
    Even if you have not set any user-defined criteria for the TO split, the system always executes a TO split according to the following forced split criteria:
    •     Planned data is required
    The TO split first divides the TO items for which planned data creation is required, from the TO items for which planned data creation is not required.
    The TO split also causes a further division for all TO items with planned data creation, according to the source storage type and destination storage area criteria.
    •     Per split profile
    As soon as TO items differ from one another in the split profile to which they are assigned, a TO split occurs according to the split profile criterion.
    •     Per performance data profile
    As soon as TO items differ from one another in the performance data profile to which they are assigned, a TO split occurs according to the performance data profile criterion.
    •     Per staging area
    The TO split divides the TO items according to the staging zone to which they are assigned.
    •     According to mixed pallets
    The TO split then separates the TO items containing mixed pallets from those containing no mixed pallets.
    The TO split also creates a further division of all TO items with mixed pallets according to the storage unit that is to be moved.
    •     According to queue
    The TO split divides the TO items according to the queue that these TO items are assigned to.
    If you work with queues, you can assign each work area to its own printer. That way, all materials that are to be processed in a specific area can be combined in one list and printed on the assigned printer.
    •     According to handling unit items
    The TO split then separates the TO items containing handling units from those containing no handling units.
    •     Separate confirmation of the withdrawal step and the transfer step is necessary
    The TO split divides the TO items with split confirmation from TO items for which split confirmation is not planned.
    The system transfers the information on the forced split to the header via the transfer orders, which are created as a result of the TO split.
    The forced split criteria are obligatory. You cannot influence the forced split via the user exit. The system does not adopt any changes to the forced split criteria.
    Dynamic Sorting
    Before you can execute a dynamic TO split controlled via the Customizing settings, the TO items should be sorted according to the split criteria. In doing so, you ensure that the TO split is sensibly executed and that no nonsensical TO splits occur.
    You can define the sequence of all the storage bins in the warehouse based on a specific sequence and sort the TO items according to this sequence. The system sorts according to the Sequence indicator in the warehouse master data.
    Dynamic Split
    You can define several criteria for the TO split in the Customizing for Warehouse Management.
    •     Split according to movement unit
    On the basis of this split criterion, you create a new TO for each movement unit. In doing so, you create TOs with one item for exactly one movement unit.
    You use this split, for example, during goods receipt when a whole pallet is moved from the GR area into the warehouse.
    You define the split according to movement unit in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Activities  Transfers  Processing Performance Data/TO Split  Define Profiles  Profile for performance data with the indicator Split single TO.
    •     Split according to picking area
    You divide up the items to be picked according to the areas of responsibility of the picker.
    •     Split according to target times in the TO
    You determine, for example, how long the picking for a transfer order is allowed to take.
    •     Split according to scope (weight or volume)
    You determine the total weight or volume that a transfer order can cover for putaway or stock removal.
    Note that the volume is calculated based on the alternative unit of measure. A box with 10 bottles, for example, can have a different volume than 10 times the volume of one bottle. If the volume for the alternative unit of measure has not been defined in the material master record, the system uses the volume from the base unit of measure for its calculation.
    Activities
    Note that you have no influence over the TO split according to forced split criteria.
    You can, however, define your own criteria for a dynamic TO split via user exit MWMTO012. For more information, see the system documentation on this user exit

  • Making a customized clock

    Hello  I'm building a customized clock at the moment. For seconds i'm using 12 movieclips with bars inside (fig1)
    For every second a bar lights up. I can get the number of "group" to pick and the number of "bar" to light up but i can't actually make them light up because I'm not sure how to actually select the group of bars according to the time. My movieclips are called "group0", "group1" etc. and inside I made different states depending on how many bars light up (fig2)
    fig1 fig2
    Here's my code:
    var now:Date;
    var hour:Number;
    var min:Number;
    var sec:Number;
    var group_access:Number;
    var specificbar:Number;
    addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, settime);
    function settime (evt:Event) {
          //get time
          now = new Date();
          //check hours and set
          if (now.getHours() > 12) {
         hour = now.getHours() - 12;

          } else {
           hour=now.getHours();
          //set min and sec
          min=now.getMinutes();
          sec=now.getSeconds();

    function setSecs (evt:Event) {
    //Task: Light up a bar every second
    group_access = (Math.floor ( (sec*2 )/10) ); // to selects the right group of bars eg. 33 seconds will be group 6
    specificbar = sec-(group_access * 5); // to light up the right bar inside the group
    // Need help with this part to work out how to access the moviclip according to the seconds on the clock
    Really worried right now, please help and thank you

    ok i've traced :
    trace(group_access , specificbar);
    result:
    3  4
    3  4
    3  4
    3  4

  • BW broadcasting error

    Our BW team has broadcast reports that run every day between 8:00am and 9:00am. Yesterday one of the reports received a termination status . The error is:
    "Java system error:Bean PRTRFC_BASE not found on host wawnsx20, Progld=WAWNSX19C_PORTAL_EPP"
    We usually see failures every day for stores (can range from 1 to 30 per report). The failure error is:
    "Framework class CL_RSRD_PRODUCER_PRECALC type PROD did not deliver a document"
    Our Basis team seems to think they are resource issues causing this to happen but not sure how to go about try to determine if it is truly a resource probelm causing these errors.  Anyone every come across these types of errors when broadcasting???

    Hi,
    Please reproduce the error and prepare the file  "supportdesk.zip" as described in 937697.
    Please have a look into the file systemifo.txt in the zip file.
    At the beginning of that file you can see the status of your system configuration and check if there are many "red lights". To go into further analysis of the broadcasting problem it is necessary to configure the system in a right way. In the description of the "red lights" there are some hint and notes. If the problem still exists after configuring the system in a right way then please create a message to SAP.

    Hi,
    I am a show photographer dealing with many different light sources and sometimes with strong monochrome colors. It appears to me that I have now sometimes quite strong blooming effekts with LR. I opend the same files with Capture one and don´t have this effect. It seems that the camera pofile provided with LR is not working properly. Does have anybody a solution. I am happy with LR so far, but this issue let me move away from LR...

  • Printing wirelessly to MacBook Pro with Airport Extreme Base Station

    I have an Airport Extreme Base Station that I used to use wirelessly until I got Verizon Fios. The Fios technicians said the base station couldn't be used and so it's been sitting unused for a few months. However, I really, really miss printing wirelessly, and was wondering if it was possible to use the Airport Extreme Base Station ONLY to print wirelessly, and not connect it any way to my internet (I don't want to mess with any of the fios stuff at all).
    If it's not possible, is there any other way to print wirelessly without purchasing another product or special printer. I have a HP c4480 printer.
    Thanks!

    If your printer has a USB cable the easy way to go about this in my opinion is to plug that USB cable into your Extreme base station. I have the Extreme ABS that looks like a flying saucer. I plug the usb cable into the port that has the symbol that doe NOT look like this <--> rather it looks like a Saguaro cactus.
    My computer then sends print documents to the Extreme via WiFi and then Extreme sends them to the printer via the USB cable.
    If your Airport status is not showing in the Mac's menubar go to system Prefs/Network/Airport and check a little box so it will show up in the menu bar.
    Now if your Extreme is plugged in the wall and powered up your Mac should be able to find it. Click on that menubar item for Airport and scroll down and select your Airport Extreme. I don't know for sure what its name will be. It should still be the same as it used to be when you used it last.
    Now try printing a simple document. In the print dialog window you should be able to select what printer you want to use. If your new Extreme printer is listed select it. You may need to click on Print & Fax and figure out how to select it from there, and choose it to be the new default printer.
    I think this info will do the job. Whenever you want to print you have to go to the Airport icon in the menubar and change your airport connection from your Verizon stuff to your Extreme. Then of course you have to change back when you are done. That is why it would be great to toss the Verizon WiFi radio out the window and just plug your Verizon modem into your Extreme WiFi radio transceiver (router). But I understand you cannot deal with that at this time.
    If this does not do the job, if I have missed something, I will bet you 5 bucks that you can still figure it out if you just look at any error messages and/or look at the Print&Fax prefs and the Print dialog windows etc. and see what I may have missed. Maybe you have to go to SystemPrefs/Sharing and allow your printer to be shared. I don't think so. The way I figure any of this stuff out is to just look at stuff and think and try things and see what happens.
    Your Verizon setup should be something like this.... a cable comes into your house and goes to a 'modem'. From there and ethernet cable (CAT-5 cable) goes from that modem to your Verizon router (WiFi radio transceiver).
    As for getting rid of the Verizon router, when you are ready to give it a go, simply unplug the ethernet cable (it has a plug on the end that looks like the kind of plug that telephones use to plug into the wall, except it is a bit wider, but still has that same kind of snap-lock tab) that comes from the Verizon modem (the modem has the heavy round cable and probably many blinking lights) and plug it into the Extreme. Mine has an icon on the Extreme that is many dots in a circular pattern.
    At this point you may have to unplug the Verizon modem form the wall AC power and the Extreme also. Then plug them back in, wait a minute, go to your Airport icon on your Mac menubar, Select Extreme and start surfing the web.
    It really is that simple with a Mac. Maybe Verizon has found a way to make things difficult but my guess is no. Any password should be taken care of in your Airport Setup Utility program. It should be the same password(s) as you used before when you used your Extreme.

    This version is a giant leap for better! I've installed it few hours ago without any problem on my PC (XP SP3)and I am just out of my first batch of processed photos, 150 of them, without ANY crash neither during the editing them nor at exporting them! Fantastic! As my photos were shot with the available light in an extremely difficult low light situation, but with many higher lighted spots, I had to rely heavily on the graduated filter and adjustment brush to get them right. At this quantity and with the version 2.2 I would face at least 5 if not 10 crashes during the editing the photos and at least one during the exporting.
    Developers - excellent job done!

  • The Help system sucks so badly it's unbelievable!

    Sorry,
    I don't usually rant on these forums.
    But it is unbelievable how badly things work when you hit F1 in an Adobe application these days.
    The actualy help content, if and when you can find it, is okay.
    But getting there is the worst experience possible.
    I've been using the Creative Suite since CS2. The CS2 Help Center was a dream compared to anything we've got now.
    Here's a case study:
    Using Acrobat XI, with Hebrew support (this is now a 100% Adobe product -- no Winsoft involved).
    Searching unsuccessfully for the Measurement tool (know where it is in Acrobat 7, can't find it in XI).
    Click on Help.
    Get taken to a website that's all in Hebrew. Did I ask to be given help in Hebrew? No. The user interface of Acrobat is in English, thanks..
    I type "measurement tool" in the search box on that help page. Get taken to some stupid search-results page about Photoshop!
    For crying out loud!?!
    Go back to the F1 page.
    See, in Hebrew, that there is an option to change language. Change it to English. Just changing the language takes me to what looks like the Adobe home page.
    So I go to the Acrobat Product help. Type in "measurement tool". Get a bunch of pathetic search results from the "Adobe community".
    This is unbelievably pathetic.
    In CS2, you press F1. A very nice Help Center opens -- full of offline content.
    It used to have an INDEX!! (Hooray!)
    Do you realise how much better a man-made index is than search results will ever be!
    If I had an index, I would look up "Measurement tool" and that would be the end of it.
    I do not need online content by default.
    AARGH!
    I know why this is happening, too: I beta-tested a number of CS6 products for the MENA program. The HELP is NEVER ready during beta. So at least the MENA help system has not been beta-tested. Fact.
    This sucks very badly.
    Thanks for reading.

    I don't think I said I time my device and turn it off.  I said it usually takes no longer than an hour.
    And as for leaving items charging over night I suggest you search not even google! but this forum to find cases of fires caused by iphone charging ... Taking the risk of leaving it plugged in just because 99.9 % of the time it'll be ok or because you have been doing it for years is not a risk ill be taking with mine and my family's life.   Dramatic .. Maybe... A reality yes.  Lets face it I can't claim off an insurance underwriter if I'm dead can I
    I can only assume then that you unplug every single electronic device in your home then and cut power to all internal wiring as well, as many appliances, lights and so forth, not to mention many building's internal wiring, have a far greater risk of electrical fire than most modern solid state electronic devices.
    There are now, hundreds of millions of iPhones used around the world by now, and they are not spontaineously combusting at anything even remotely approaching a frequency to cause concern.
