Map Module Problem

I have just used LR4 for the first time to geotag my photos, after using GeoSetter previously. Although the process was not as smooth as Geosetter, we'll get to that later. The problem I am having right now is that the city, state, sublocation, etc. as provided from the geotagging operation shows up in the Metadata panel in italics (whereas the photos previously geotagged via Geosetter are not italicized), and even that would not be an issue, except that when I set the Library View options (Ctrl-J) to show sublocation in the grid cells in the top right position, the sublocation doesn't appear. The photos geotagged via Geosetter do not have this problem, the sublocation does appear. Example of photo geotagged via LR 4, top right position of informationp does not show the sublocation:
Example of photo geotagged by GeoSetter, top right position of cell information shows sublocation
Can I fix this, or is it a bug?

It's not in italics...it's grey type to indicate that this info has been entered in based on the GPS location. As far as the location, the location shows for me shows for me when entered in via GPS...are you filtering on location or city? Sublocation can be different than city. For example when I filter on a buch of shots in LA, I get a sublocation of Central LA instead of the city of LA.

  • No Un-ambiguous Selection of Mapping Module (above one) for BUPA_MAIN BDocs

    Hi All
I seem to have hit a snag here. I am trying to replicate customers from CRM to ERP but am getting these two errors:
Main error: Partially send, receivers have errors.
No un-ambiguous selection of mapping module (above one) for BDoc type 3932399B34D6279BE10000000A11449E.
Service that caused the error: SMW3OUTBOUNDADP_CALLADAPTERS._
I have searched on Googleand SDN but have come up with nothing as far as these errors are concerned. We have managed to replicate Business Partners, Materials and Conditions from ERP to CRM without any problems but when it cam e to replicating back, these errors started popping up.
I have used all the tools for analysis but have come up with nothing the really suggest to me what is wrong. I have monitored queues, traces and dumps. I have played around with the filter setting and all.
With regards to the process itself, i followed the C03 best practices config guide and i believe that i have everything in place. Here are the steps i followed:
1.Create an Internal number range for the CRM customer group.
    2. Assigned the number range to the Customer group
    3. Created a corresponding number range (External) in ERP and a corresponding CRM Customer account group as a copy of the standard 0001 Sold-to-party account group and assigned the number range to it.
    4. Defined Partner functions (SP, SH, BP, and PY) for the account group
    5. I mapped the CRM classification for customers (B) to the created account group (CRM Customer)
    6. I synchrponized the fields for the account group created and the BP roles in CRM including changes on a per client (BUPA) basis.
    7. I redowloaded all the cutomizing objects (though i only needed the DNL_CUST_KTOKD) for the sake of the mappings directly in CRM or R/3 Account group maintenance during the creation of the BP.
    8. I customized the filter settings in BUPA_MAIN and included the BUT100 table for the filetring of the customers who were created as SP, BP, PY, or SHand who belonged to the Customer group we had created. (BUT000->BU_GROUP & BUT100->RLTYP) for source site CRM.
    9. Activated the necessary function modules through transactions COM_BUPA_CALL_FU in ERP and CRMC_BUT_CALL_FU in CRM according to [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crmscen70/helpdata/en/60/85b5d333f4174b8e982c1c15db35f3/frameset.htm]
    10. Using transaction R3AS i sought to replicate the BUPA_MAIN object.
Because of the few customers created in CRM, it only executes within a single block so the queues would be empty by the time SMQ1 and SMQ2 are executed. R3AM1 shows it as running. SMW01 shows the above error.
When creating a BP through the tx code BP, the main error would be Technical error(Incomplete) and the two other errors as mentionme above would also be there
Is there anyone out there who has met this very same problem or knows the solution to this.
    Thanks in advance.

We managed to get a solution to the problem. Here it goes:
When a new adapter object (e.g a custom one) is created, the SMOFOBJECT table is populated with the entry and, in turn, the SMOFUPLMAP is populated with the object and the mapping module for uploading to R/3. During the upload process, a search for custom mapping modules is done and if not found the standard mapping modules are used. However, and it seems weird since it seems as if it applies to the BUPA_MAIN object or the corresponding mapping module (BUPA_MWX_BDOC_UPLOAD_MAIN_R3), there has  to be a one-to-one mapping between an mapping module and adapter object.
I had created a custom adapter object (Z_BUPA_MAIN) to which I wanted to put some custom filters and did not want to test with the standard object. So two objects using the same mapping module ended up existing  in the SMOFUPLMAP table (one-to-many mapping). The function module in which this happens is the GET_UPL_FUNCTION_FOR_OBJ.
So the solution would be to delete the object if it is not needed or to maintain the SMOFUPLMAP table to remove the entry. When you delete the object, it sometimes does not automatically/subsequently remove the entry in SMOFUPLMAP, so manual maintenance has to be done or the same object has to be recreated and have the mapping module allocated. After this, the problem would be solved. What is weird to me is that the only one-to-one mapping is allowed. I created a custom object for the download of conditions and I did not get that error. So it means that in this case you would have to copy the mapping module and create a custom one for the custom object.

  • Lightroom 5.2 map module not displaying maps

I am having all sorts of problems with Lightroom 5.2 and wish I'd just stayed with Lightroom 4. I've already posted about not being able to import directly from an SD card in my laptops reader, and have at least found a work around to that (copy files to hard drive them import - I see others have found the same thing and it works just fine).
Now I have realised that the map screen in the map module is blank. I had this problem initially with Lightroom 5, and then it seemed to resolve itself. It is refusing to resolve itself in Lightroom 5.2 however. I've searched on the web for similar problems, and have found some responses to blank map screens in Lightroom 4, but they are so technical I haven't got a clue where to start trying to follow them.
So, I am a simple soul who needs a simple answer. I am using LR 5.2 on an HP laptop running Windows 7. In the map module, where I already have GPS data (from a Canon EOS 6D) it is displayed in the metadata, and the little pop up box shows the number of photos at selected locations etc. But the central map screen is black. If I search, the screen stays black although it appears as though it has gone to the location. The Navigator screen is blank too.  And yes, I am connected to the internet and LR5.2 seems to be able to find the internet (I checked by going into the web module).
Can anyone help me please. I like to put GPS locations on my photos prior to upload to Flickr, and whereas they are there from photos from my 6D, they don't exist for photos taken on my Canon Powershot.

A work-around that I am using is to run Lightroom as an administrator on my Windows 7 system (right-click on the icon and choose run as administrator).  Everything then works ok.  I also needed to run as an administrator to be able to update some plug-ins I was using.  I fixed the plug-in update issues by changing the permissions on plug-ins folder.  I suspect that it is a similar issue with the maps.
I have not figured out what folder or files need to have the permissions altered to stop Lightroom from working in the unelevated state but if someone reading this knows please share.  I saw some posts related to the same issue but on Macs but the Windows configuration is different.

  • Why doesn't the Map module work with Lightroom 5.6 on OSX Yosemite?

Since upgrading to OSX Yosemite the Map module won't display the roads or satellite images with Lightroom 5.6.  Sometimes it will download a small portion of the imagery but then it just displays the message "No imagery available".  If I try and zoom in all I get is a blank view.
It's nothing to do with my internet connection as Google Maps in Safari comes up instantly.

Adobe acknowledged this problem some months ago in the official Adobe feedback forum, but it still hasn't been addressed:
Lightroom: Issue with Map module in OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

  • Map module not finding photos from track log

I have created GPX files on my phone, loaded them into the map module and selected the corresponding photos. When I select "Auto-tag selected photos" from the pop-up menu where I loaded the track I get an error saying "No Matching Photos" I have checked the track data and the times of the photos and they do match - the track runs from 12:32 to 4:37 on 9-13-2012 and the photos were all taken within this time frame. Any ideas what might be going wrong?

I had the same problem, and I've found the solution.
    In short:
Lightroom expects that the times in a .GPX file are in GMT/UTC. It applies the time offset for your local computer to determine the time of the tracklog. As of Lightroom 4.2, it doesn't handle time offsets (as in "+1200") embedded in GPX files. For example, I shot photos recently using the (excellent) SkiRoute16 GPS logger app on my iPhone, then exported to a GPX file. Because London was in summer time, SkiRoute16 appended the offset to the locations:
    </trkpt>
    <trkpt lat="41.54921491494658" lon="-0.06738643106430209">
    <time>2012-09-25T09:26:40+0100</time>
    </trkpt>
How do I know if my GPX file has offsets embedded?
If you load a tracklog into the Map module and hover over the tracklog, you should see timestamp tooltips appear. If not, it's probably because there are offsets in the GPX file.
    How do I fix it?
If your Lightroom PC, photos, and GPX file are all in the same timezone, then you should be able to simply remove the offset. A GPX file is just an XML file, so you can use Notepad, TextWrangler, or whatever to open it. Use find-and-replace to replace the offset with nothing. That is, replace "+0100" with "" - the <time> elements should now look like this:
         <time>2012-09-25T09:26:40</time>
Save the GPX file as a new file (don't overwrite the original, just in case things go wrong). Try loading it into Lightroom and see if it works.
If your Lightroom PC is in a different timezone to the GPX data
...Then you'll have do some additional fiddling after removing the offsets:
Find the time offset of your PC or Mac. For example, I'm in New Zealand and so my time offset right now is +1300.
Work out what offset to use. In my case, the pictures were taken around 9:30a.m:
         <time>2012-09-25T09:26:40</time>
Lightroom's going to assume this is GMT/UTC and add thirteen hours to this (because that's the time offset of my laptop).
This means I need to subtract 13 hours, which will actually takes the timestamps back to the previous day. 9am on 25 October needs to become 8pm on 24 October:
         <time>2012-09-25T09:26:40</time>
    Needs to become:
         <time>2012-09-24T20:26:40</time>
First, I'll change the day by doing a find-and-replace on "2012-09-25" and replace it with "2012-09-24":
         <time>2012-09-25T09:26:40</time>
    Becomes:
         <time>2012-09-24T09:26:40</time>
Now, I replace the time portion, again using find-and-replace to replace "T09" with "T20":
         <time>2012-09-25T09:26:40</time>
    Becomes thirteen hours earlier:
         <time>2012-09-24T20:26:40</time>
Once this is done, save the file (again, save as a different filename. Playing with these offsets took me several attempts, and you don't want to overwrite your original GPX file). Then try re-importing the tracklog and see how you go.
    Phew!

  • Lightroom LR4 - Map Module - Sticky mouse

Lightroom LR4 - Map Module - Sticky mouse  Hi folks.  When using the mouse to pan the map, the map sticks to the mouse for a while even when you release the button. This means you can pan teh map to a new location, release the mouse and the map continues to pan where you subsequently move the mouse to.  Note: this does not happen with Google maps in the browser, so a problem with LR.  Its' highly annoying to pan the map and then hold the mouse still for 2 or 3 seconds to avoid the map moving

    Anyone?

  • Lightroom 4.4 Map Module blinks "Offline" when moved or zoomed.

Lightroom 4.4 Map Module blinks "Offline" when moved or zoomed.
As stated, every time I move the map with the mouse or zoom the map using any method the map blinks into "offline" condition to redraw. This is not only annoying but drastically slows down work flow.
    How can this be stopped?
    Macbook Pro 2010 i7 8GB RAM
    Thanks,

To see what I see, turn off your internet by shutting off your wireless card or disconnecting your ethernet if hard wired. The map will turn into a grey full-earth map and have the note "map is offline."
Woody 77 may be correct but the problem follows me from location to location and happens when others are getting no problems at all.
I was wondering if there was some form of optimizing I could do to improve performanc. Perhaps I am having a problem with my airport card.

  • No keywords field in Map module

Hello, I want to manually add keywords to one or more photos based on the Map but there's no field to fill like it is in Bridge. No problem with IPTC Description.
    What can I do?
    Thank you

I don't think there's any way builtin to LR to add keywords while in the Map module.
You could try the Any Tag plugin, which would let you tag photos appearing in the filmstrip under the map.  Currently, its commands appear under the Library menu (which doesn't appear in Map mode), but if you're interested, I could send you a trivial recipe that would cause them to appear under the File menu, letting you invoke the plugin in in Map mode.

  • Lightroom 4 Map Module Is Blank

I upgraded from LR3 to LR4 yesterday and was excited to dive into the Map module. Unfortunately, the map seems to be blank. I have selected an image with GPS information. The Map module correctly looks up the location of the photo (Magdalena, New Mexico). This seems like a rendering bug.
    Update 1
Just to check, I installed LR4 onto another OS X 10.6.8 machine that had not previously had Lightroom and imported the same picture. The Map module worked correctly. So, I tried re-installing LR4 on the original machine. Unfortunately, it still does not work. I tried creating a new catalog and backing up and then deleting all preferences. The map is still blank...
I am open to suggestions so long as they don't involve re-installing the OS, as I just did a fresh install yesterday on this machine and therefore highly doubt that will accomplish anything other than wasting my time.
I am open to all sorts of alternatives, including but not limited to:
Running dtrace to look at library calls
attaching XCode to debug (though I would assume all the objects have been stripped), or
Starting up a WebDialogs/WebEx/VNC/TeamViewer/etc server for a dev to pry around on it or debug with XCode. Of course a debuggable build would greatly help with this.
    Update 2
    More defect info.
I created a new user on the system that is failing, started LR4, created a new catalog, imported the test photo, changed to Map module--still blank. Something on this particular system is causing the rendering failure.
So I figured what the heck, just to make sure, why don't I copy over the LR4 app from the system that is working. Still a blank map...
My next thought was that perhaps it was an issue with the non-accelerated graphics. So I disabled the graphics switching. Still a blank map...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks juckehu. You nailed the problem. I really appreciate you coming up with this solution.
As a programmer who develops software for all UNIX flavors, Mac OS X, and Windows, I find this not working on a case-sensitive filesytem behaviour to be rather ridiculous. I would be ashamed if my tools didn't work correctly because of something like this. Someone folks should be very embarassed, as from some searches I ran it seems like this issue has been around for a long time and with other Adobe products. So, apparently I now get to revert my Mac back to a Windows-esque case-insenstive filesystem. What a way to spend a Friday.

  • Map Module annoyances

I've been using the Map Module quite a bit to add GPS co-ords to old pictures taken before I began tracking my locations via GPS--so I have no tracklogs to use, otherwise I'd just use Jeffrey's plug-in.  In my use of the Map Module I've come across a few annoyances and wonder if any other users have experienced any of them and/or knows of a 'fix'.
My typical work flow is to select a few--up to a few hundred--photos using a filter in the Library module or at times a smart collection.  I then activate the Map Module and select multiple images taken at the same location and drag those images to the map to geo-encode them.  The geo-encoding goes well and most of the 'Time and Place' fields are set with the text being light grey.  The text for the GPS value is set to full brightness.
    The 'annoyances':
    1.  For the 'Time and Place' metadata to become 'active' each item (City, State/Province, etc.) label must be clicked on and the current greyed location selected by clicking on the proper value in the pop-up that appears when the label is clicked.  The problem is that if I have more than a few images selected--so I can set the 'Time and Place' information for all of them at once--after entering the first item, say for example City, all of the entries will go blank for a few seconds and then re-appear with City now non-grey and active.  Sometimes the other entries remain greyed out and sometimes they totally disappear and I have to remember the spelling, etc., of the blank item and manually type it in for the pop-up does not always contain the entry that disappeared.  Sometimes this 'flashing' of the metadata fields happens more than once per entry. Major annoyance.
    2.  When manually entering an entry because it became blank when setting a different field the metadata entries will blank out while I am typing and the characters I am typing are then interpreted as command characters for LR proper, not as entries in the text box I'm trying to type into.  This is not acceptable behavior.  Sometimes the sequence of letters when interpreted as commands to LR can really muck things up.
In 1&2 it is as if the program is writing the changed data to the catalog for every image.  While this write operation is taking place the data in the right panel is blanked and the focus changed from an item in the right panel to the main LR window.
One other observation, since LR 4.0 was released with the Map Module I've had a few dozen crashes.  Every single one of them has happened while working in the Map Module.  I've never had LR 4.x crash at any other time.
It is my belief that the Map Module is poorly written and in need of major bug fixes.
My system is a mid-2010 27" i7 iMac @ 2.93 GHz and 16 GB DRAM.  I have over 600 GB remaining on my system drive.  My raw cache files reside on an external drive connected via FW800 which has over 1.5TB free.  I am using Lion (OS X 10.7.3) and the system was installed fresh, not an update from Snow Leopard.
    Ideas anyone?

    jim01403 wrote:
I'm currently doing something similar, and I too noticed the weird behaviour when trying to 'commit' the location entries in the Map module. They way I now do it (with all photographs in the filmstrip) is click on one of the placemarks on the map, this will automatically select all the images with that same location. Jump to Library (all the selected photographs stay selected, although they may not all appear in the grid....but 'most' selected will), use the metadata panel to 'commit' (or amend) the location data for the most selected image, then sync metadata (location data only). This updates all the selected images with the same location. Return to Map and pick another placemark and repeat.
Thanks for the input.  This usually 'works' but sometimes doesn't.  When it doesn't the flash occurs even in the Library module.  However, it is much better than trying to do it in the Map Module with all images selected.
Note that the Map Module also has a 'Sync Metadata' button so it isn't necessary to return to the Library Module.  Selecting a single image from the group, commit it, then click on the icon to select all images followed by clicking on the Sync Metadata button.
It is still an anoyance and makes the software seem to be somewhat less than a 'Professional' level application.  I hope Adobe can find and fix these kinds of issues, but I won't hold my breath as I'm sure they have more pressing issues to solve.

  • In Maps Module, please enable simultaneous display of multiple GPS Tracks

    Hi LR4 team,
First of all, a big thank you for adding geotagging and mapping support in this version.  I was one of the (many) users who was disappointed that geotagging (as well as soft-proofing) did not make it into LR3.  This time around I'll gladly part with $99 to upgrade to LR4 as it has some great new features.
In the maps module, there does not seem to be a way to display multiple tracks simultaneously.  There's an option to switch between tracks (Map->Tracklog->Next Track|Previous Track) but it doesn't appear to be possible to display multiple tracks simultaneously.  This is a pain, especially if you load a tracklog which contains multiple tracks.  Many dataloggers will start a new track each time the GPS is power cycled (e.g. with battery changes).
Instead of cycling through tracks one at a time (as is the case in LR4 Beta), please consider implementing a multi-select list where the user can check which tracks he/she wishes to display.  Naturally the multiselect should also allow for "Select All" and "Deselect All" and selection of (multiple) ranges using the Shift and individual tracks by holding the Control key -- you know, the typical behavior for lists.
Also please ensure that LR4 hand comfortably handle large track files. I use a datalogger that records its location every 1-10 seconds throughout the day.  This results in a fairly large data set to process.  When travelling, I may not have the opportunity to upload from CF to LR and sync with GPS tracks for several days, which means that I may have accumulated somewhere in the range of 5MB to 50MB of NMEA track data (depending on the sampling rate) in around 5-20 separate tracks.  I'd like LR4 to be able to efficiently handle loading these tracks and tagging all newly imported images.  As above, it would be helpful to enable simultaneous display of many tracks.
    Thanks!
PS: Love the animated (bouncing) trackpoint to disambiguate multiple images taken in close proximity to one another.

    Just as a side question:
Have you ever loaded a tracklog containing different tracks belonging to more than 1 month?
This is what a tracklog with tracks from 10/14/2011 to 11/07/2011 looks like here:
Dropdown for the first November 2011 row:
Dropdown for the second November 2011 row:
Not a big problem, but also not nice.

  • LR4 Offline -Map Module etc

I'm at a loss, been using Lightroom for past 3yrs with no network problems but recently when attempting to use the Map Module I am receiving a Lightroom Error stating that the Map is "Offline" and to check your network connection? My Mac Pro is connected to everything throughout my Network with no problems except for the LR connection. I'm unable to trace to any past installation of any Apps or Software, it just appeared out of the blue a couple of weeks ago. As stated, any and all apps and software requesting a network connection to the Internet or Home Network connects without any issue-all EXCEPT LR 4!
Anyone who may have heard of this issue and may have a suggestion as to how to address this mystery would be greatly appreciated. I'm totally baffled!

I have issues with tha Map module in LR 4.2 as well. My internet connection is fine, but I get a flashing world map and message "Map Offline" every time Google Maps are not updating instantly but have a response time of more than half a second. This sometimes happens several times a minute. This is extremely annoying and I would consider this a bug. Can the time-out for detecting that maps really are offline due to no internet connection being available be increased somehow?
PS: Sorry for the stupid screen name, but I didn't want to spend more than 10 minutes receiving error messages saying that all sensible names were unavaible.

  • No maps showing in map module with my Mac

The map module is empty in Lr on my Mac.
I have an internet connection and it works fine so that is not the problem.
The maps module worked fine on Elements 13 that my cc subscription replaced.

Make sure that you have read and write permissions to the Flash Player folder and all its sub-folders.
    The folder you need is:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player
    To begin quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder, then select Macromedia. Inside Macromedia highlight the Flash Player folder and press Cmd+I; then ensure you have read and write permissions. If not click the padlock icon and change the permissions to read and write then quit the info dialog.
Open Flash Player folder and do the same for each sub-folder e.g. highlight in turn:
    #Security
    #SharedObjects
    macromedia.com
    www.macromedia.com
Ensure each sub-folder has the same read & write permissions.
    Re-launch Lightroom

I'm only including info about the first thread because it's the one that crashed, but I have the whole thing if there's like to be something useful there.
It always seems to be related to displaying the map, and the WebKit reference above seems to back that up.  Sometimes it'll display some tiles and then crash, and sometimes, like this time, it crashes before it displays any of the map.  This has happened with earlier versions of OS 10.9 as well, but I can't find those diagnostic reports to see if they point to the same thing.  I've tried throwing away my Lightroom preference file and purging the cache, but neither has helped.  It's happened equally with photos that are already geotagged and ones that have no location information.  I don't think I've ever seen it happen if I quit Lightroom after importing and before switching to the Maps module, so maybe that's a clue.
Has anyone else had this sort of issue with the maps module?
    Rob

I frequently see this problem. Have not yet found a solution. It is not a fatal error -- no data is lost, nothing seems to be corrupted. Since I'm not a programming expert, I can't really guess. I do get the impression that Lightroom, for all it's fantastic features (and I do think they're fantastic), it is very slow (though I am working on pre-Intel Mac).

  • Lr 5.3 Map Module Blank

The OS is Windows 7/64, just upgraded from Lr v5.2 to Lr v5.3, now the Map Module is not responding.  The other modules work well.
Connected to high speed, 11m, cable internet.  Google Earth works well as does Internet Explorer.
Re installed Lr v5.3 to no avail.
It appears that Lr is not connecting to the internet for the Map Module data.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

It seems to be a problem with memory corruption. Restarting the computer makes it right (temporarily). I keep my computer running without restarting until something requires me to, and I've never had this problem before.
