Map result set elements to XML

Hi,
Iam retrieving fields from data base in to a result set.Iam creating an xml file using the result set fields by passing the column names as xml tags.the xml file is generated and working fine.But i wanted to add custom tags instead of column names in my xml files.
is there any way to map the fields with my custom tag names?
Thanks,
Ravi

I know that the site below does not cover exactly what you want but you can customize the code snippets to your needs. All you have to do is to devise a suitable algorithm to avoid the repetition of sibling elements having the same text. With regard to this requirement I advise you to order the records in the ResultSet before processing them because it makes the comparison of the records (which is unavoidable to find the repetitive values) much easier.

  • XML result set storage and stored procedures

    Hi,
    Is there an alternative way to store and process a large data result set from an XML document without using temporary tables in an Oracle DB? If so, how can this be implemented using stored procedures?
    Additional Info:
    I am planning to use a directory server as my data source and returning an XML document to the store procedure that executes a query to this server. I read somewhere that table variables can be used as an alternative, however it is not the desired option when you have large result sets due to potential performance issues. Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks

    You could have a go with XML functions, but probably, because you mentioned "large data result set", you will have to deal with it programmatically. I have read once good examples in a book called "Building Oracle XML Applications" from Steve Muench (http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/orxmlapp/), but it is a little bit dated. Nevertheless a book from Steve is worth while.

  • How to highlight result set data on world map

    Hi,
    I want to show the graphical representation of world map to highlight the countries which having the maximum booking of hotels of our client xyz.
    All the values are coming from the mysql db .
    I want the library which will draw the world map on the Jpanel for the respective result set
    Plz help me for this .
    I generally use the JFreeChart for drawing the other graphs but the Jfreechart don't have the library for the World Map or Destination Graph etc.
    Hint: ( Google Analytic's map is the best example )
    Thanks In Advanced
    Mahesh

    This isn't what you want, but it will get you on the right track. I chose the most complex image I could find so give it a few seconds to read the image and build the paths. The parser is catered to the image I chose, but in general you can probably expect the "path" element to delineate the boundaries for any map svg. The particular image I chose grouped the paths with country ID so I added a little mouse interaction to the GUI. Forgive me for any dumbly coded stuff. I didn't put much effort into streamlining it.

  • Xcelsius with XMLA or XML Query Result Set

    Hi Experts,
    I want a direct connection from Xcelsius to my BW-Data. Because the new connection, coming with Fix Pack 2.1 is only avaiable for EHP 1 for NW 7.0 I tried to configure with XMLA and XML Query Result Set.
    This Document tells the necessary steps: How to integrate Xcelsius 2008 with SAP NetWeaver BI without Integration Kit.pdf.
    When I test my XML connection over http://<host>:<port>/TXmla/srvlet/TestXmla my Cubes will display.
    So I do a Webservice-Connection with WSDL-URL. At Input-Values there are some entries like CUBE_NAME, CATALOG_NAME...
    Output values arent avalible. How do I use these elements to show my Data in Xcelsius?
    My Problem with the XML Query Result Set Connection is, that when I Log On to VC the following error appears:
    You are not authorized to view the requested resource.
    So I get the authorisationobjects: S_DEVELOP and S_RS_COMP as describe in 'How To... Resolve Visual Composer Issues'.
    What values have I to enter by S_RS_COMP? And how can I enter my External Service in S_SERVICE. At the type WS the service isnt't avaiable.
    Regards,
    Jan

    To use XMLA web service you need a wrapper function build to convert the XMLA output to the Xcelsius format. There are some documents available in SDN on how to do this.
    You can use Live Office or Query as a Web service option to connect from Xcelsius to BW.
    S_RS_COMP is the query ID which you are trying to access, S_SERVICE you can either give * or try to set up authorization log and see the expected value.

    Please could any one help me urgently as the sql query is supposed to be correct as it is returning query results, but the problem happening when i try to select whole result set.
    Thanks and regards,

    What does the XML look like? It appears that some of the supposed XML stored as a CLOB is not really valid XML. Find the row in the table that is causing your issue and review the "XML" in it.

    // Everything must be closed
    rset.close();
    stat.close();
    conn.close();
    outfile.close();
    catch( Exception er ) {
    %>

    Please state your problem that you are having more clearly so we can help.
    I looked at your code I here are a few things you might consider:
    It looks like you are putting freely typed-in comments from end-users into an xml document.
    The problem with this is that the user may enter characters in his text that have special meaning
    to xml and will have to be escaped correctly. Some of these characters are less than character, greater than character and ampersand character.
    You may also have a similiar problem displaying them on your JSP page since there may be special characters that JSP has.
    You will have to read up on how to deal with these special characters (I dont remember what the rules are). I seem to recall
    if you use CDATA in your xml, you dont have to deal with those characters (I may be wrong).
    When you finish writing your code, test it by entering all keyboard characters to make sure they are processed, stored in the database,
    and re-displayed correctly.
    Also, it looks like you are putting business logic in your JSP page (creating an xml file).
    The JSP page is for displaying data ONLY and submitting back to a servlet. Put all your business logic in the servlet. Putting business logic in JSP is considered bad coding and will cause you many hours of headache trying to debug it. Also note: java scriptlets in a JSP page are only run when the JSP page is compiled into a servlet by java. It does not run after its compiled and therefore you cant call java functions after the JSP page is displayed to the client.

  • How to return two XML result sets using the function

    Hi Experts,
    Thanks.

    So that I want to return two XML result sets if the query returns more than 50,000 records.

    How to incorporate this in my function.
    Have the function return a collection of CLOB then.
    DBMS_XMLGEN can handle pagination so it's easy to adapt your existing code.

  • How to exclude the XML declaration from each row of the result set?

    Hi,
    I have a table with an XMLTYPE column and would like to SELECT a set of rows. How can I exclude the XML declaration from each row in the result set? My query currently looks like this, I'm executing it through Spring JDBC:
    SELECT XMLSerialize(CONTENT t1.xmltext) FROM myschema.event t1 WHERE XMLEXISTS('$e/Event' PASSING XMLTEXT AS "e") ORDER BY t1.time DESC
    After selecting, in my application I convert each row into a String and concatenate all rows into one big string in order to parse it into a DOM model. I get a parser exception (org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed) because there are multiple XML declarations in my big string. Of course, I could manually check the String of each row whether it starts with the XML declaration, but it would be nicer if I could instruct the DB not to add it in the first place. Is there a way?
    Thanks!
    -- Daniela

    Hi,
    A couple of options I can think of :
    SELECT XMLSerialize(CONTENT
    XMLtransform(t1.xmltext,
      xmltype('<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:output omit-xml-declaration="yes"/>
    <xsl:template match="/"><xsl:copy-of select="*"/></xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>')
    FROM myschema.event t1
    WHERE XMLEXISTS('$e/Event' PASSING XMLTEXT AS "e")
    ORDER BY t1.time DESC
    ;or simply,
    SELECT XMLSerialize(CONTENT
      extract(t1.xmltext,'/')
    FROM myschema.event t1
    WHERE XMLEXISTS('$e/Event' PASSING XMLTEXT AS "e")
    ORDER BY t1.time DESC
    ;

    3, 1
    4, 2
    5, 3
    The second accepts an Item ID as input and returns the description for that item.
    I would like the output of the BPEL Process to look like this.
    Order ID, Item ID, Item Desc
    1, 2, Computer
    2, 1, Desk
    3, 1, Desk
    4, 2, Computer
    5, 3, Lamp
    I'm new to BPEL and I'm assuming this will involve invoking the first db adapter link and then iterator through the result set calling the second db adapter link for each record but I'm not sure where to start. I'm hoping someone can give me a simple example that I can play with. I've looked at How to iterate through multiple records read from a file adapter? and How to pass a single element in an array to XSL from BPEL but I'm getting lost.
    Thanks

    I just got it working in the BPEL for-each loop by creating a variable of type Order which I then assigned the results from that loop and then appended them to my output variable. I'd be interested in seeing how I could do that within a transformation if its quicker. How do I append in a transformation so that I can add the row after each loop.
    Here is the BPEL so far.
    I will note that I think just fetching a complete copy of both data sources and merging wouldn't be ideal as my items table could contain a million records or more and I'm only wanting to fetch the ones I'm interested in.
    Thanks

  • Mapping CLOB and Long in xml schema

    Hi,
    I am creating an xml schema to map some user defined database objects. For example, for a column which is defined as VARCHAR2 in the database, I have the following xsd type mapping.
    <xsd:element name="Currency" type="xsd:string" />
    If the oracle column is CLOB or Long(Oracle datatype), could you please tell me how I can map it in the xml schema? I do not want to use Oracle SQL type like:
    xdb:SQLType="CLOB" since I need a generic type mapping to CLOB. Would xsd:string still hold good for CLOB as well as Long(Oracle datatype) ?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Vadi.

    The problem is that LONGs are not buffered but are read from the wire in the order defined. The problem is the same as
    rs = stmt.executeQuery("select myLong, myNumber from tab");
    while (rs.next()) {
    int n = rs.getInt(2);
    String s = rs.getString(1);
    The above will fail for the same reason. When the statement is executed the LONG is not read immediately. It is buffered in the server waiting to be read. When getInt is called the driver reads the bytes of the LONG and throws them away so that it can get to the NUMBER and read it. Then when getString is called the LONG value is gone so you get an exception.
    Similar problem here. When the query is executed the CLOB and BLOB locators are read from the wire, but the LONG is buffered in the server waiting to be read. When Clob.getString is called, it has to talk to the server to get the value of the CLOB, so it reads the LONG bytes from the wire and throws them away. That clears the connection so that it can ask the server for the CLOB bytes. When the code reads the LONG value, those bytes are gone so you get an exception.
    This is a long standing restriction on using LONG and LONG RAW values and is a result of the network protocol. It is one of the reasons that Oracle deprecates LONGs and recommends using BLOBs and CLOBs instead.

  • How to iterate the webservice Data control result set?

    Hi all,
    How to iterate the webservice Data control result set? I have an jsff page where I am displaying the single UserDetails by webservice DataContol. As per my design requirement I should iterate the DataControl resultSet to get the user details and push the same in to Managed bean. Please help me how to do this, any sample code please to iterate the resultset and get the data from it.

    That is what exactly I am trying right now. I am binding each of my page fragment outputText item in to backing bean and by that way trying to populate the values.
    But the issue here is, the backing bean method doesn't getting any value until I hit any of the link or the button in the fragment. While loading the page the bean set and get is null. If i hit any link or button it is filled up with the vaule. As per my design, I would like to populate the bean method along with page load before any user action. But cant able to do this!! :(
    Below is my sample code what I am trying right now
            <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="#{uiBundle.NETID}" id="plam13">
                      <af:outputText value="#{bindings.netid.inputValue}" id="ot4" binding="#{UserDataBean.netId}"/>
           </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
    backing bean ex:
    private RichOutputText netId;
    static String netidVal;
        public void setNetId(RichOutputText netId) {
           netidVal= netId.getValue() == null? "":netId.getValue().toString();
           this.netId = netId;
        public RichOutputText getNetId() {
           return netId;
        public String getNetIdVal() {
           return netidVal;

  • XML Element of XML Element of XML Element (and so on...)

    Here is my XML data (shorted, in a file myFile):
    <LiveData>
    <Voltage>
    <Total>
    <VoltageNow>1052</VoltageNow>
    </Total>
    </Voltage>
    <Power>
    <Total>
    <PowerNow>345</PowerNow>
    </Total>
    </LiveData>
    I would like to get the VoltageNow and PowerNow values, but the following script does not work:
    tell application "System Events"
    set elem1 to XML element 1 of XML file myFile /*<LiveData>
    set power to XML elements of elem1 whose name is "Power"
    set total to XML elements of power whose name is "Total"
    set powernow to value of XML elements of total whose name is "PowerNow"
    end tell
    Error: System Events got an error: Can’t make {} into type string.
    BTW, I don't want to use XML Element X because the order may change.
    What is the correct method to traverse these elements to obtain values?

    AppleScript can handle the strings, but the System Events XML Suite doesn't work with text strings - it deals with the XML objects, which have name and value properties. The handler can be modified to show the names of an element, but it is just designed to work with the XML Suite.
    The contents of an XML file is just text, so you can forgo System Events and just use regular text manipulation statements, or use another tool such as the Satimage XMLLib osax, which is much more robust and does include commands to display the XML object as a string.
    By the way, my original handler was designed and tested in Leopard, but I discovered a Snow Leopard bug that alters the way it returns array/list contents. The following script has changes that return the functionality, in addition to a dialog handler that will display lists:
    <pre style="

    font-size: 10px;

  • Need help in comparing values to display correct result set

    I have a View Object and Entity I created that point to a View on my database. This view contains a complex custom query that recovers and totals all charges and fees for all properties. However, when this result set is returned I only want to display on the initial screen the Row which contains the information for the current Property selected. However, in trying to implement this I am unsure how to:
    A) Somehow get the Property Id value of the Property currently in the JSP.
    B) Get the value of the Property Id column off each Row to compare to the value obtained in A.
    (I created an exact copy of the RowSetBrowser bean named SRIRowSetBrowser and am trying to add code to control which Rows get sent off to be added to the HTML Table)
    I can not find any documentation or source for the Row class and thus have no way to know if any methods are provided that would help me.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
