Mapviewer displaying maps differently from the client than from the server

Can anyone explain to me why this is happening. I have been deploying my java server page to the server, and the way it works is to have multiple base routes which are not originally shown, but the user can 'check' them and they will display. On the server this works as one would expect, but on the client
I originally couldn't get this to work through Jdeveloper, but now it works -- that's another story :(
all of my base maps are displayed when the map first comes up. I don't want this to occur because it takes too long. Anyway, does anyone know why the map is working different from the client than it does when I deploy it to the server? Here is the significant code:
var basemap1 = new MVBaseMap("ds_prod.prod_rdlg_qry");
var basemap2 = new MVBaseMap("ds_prod.interstate", "", true);
basemap2.setTransparent(true);
var basemap3 = new MVBaseMap("ds_prod.primary", "", true);
basemap3.setTransparent(true);
mapview = new MVMapView(document.getElementById("map"), baseURL);
mapview.addBaseMapLayer(basemap1);
mapview.addBaseMapLayer(basemap2);
mapview.addBaseMapLayer(basemap3);
basemap1.setVisible (true);
basemap2.setVisible (false);
basemap3.setVisible (false);
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi
Whitch version of mapviewer are you using? (MVBaseMap/addBaseMapLayer is for older versions, and in newer there is MVMapTileLayer/addMapTileLayer)
I had similar difficulties displaying multiple tile layers in application with mapviewer ver. B080618. (not sute, may be in newer versions this works different)
When adding all tile layers initially and then setting theig Visible properties, browser fetches from server data for ALL the layers (even if they were set to visible -> false)
the workaround was to add aditional layers ony when this is needed.

  • RMI call back - How to refer to the client project from the server project?

    Hi, I am working on an RMI assignment which basically needs me to use the RMI call back for the server to notify the clients.
    I have 2 projects , one for the client and another for the server.
    In the client project, I have a client interface and the main client class implements this interface.
    In the server project, I have a server interface and a class that implements this interface.
    I can use the server interface in the client project's code by adding the server project in the path of the client project. it lets me use the server interface in the code if I put "import.." statement.
    But the issue is I can not do the same to access the client interface from within the server project's code. Since that will be a circular reference, the compiler does not let me use the client interface from within the server's code. This is putting me in a great difficulty and I am stuck here. What should I do so that I can use the client interface and the compiler won't complain?
    Thanks for any help..
    Regards.. js

    Let me explain what I tried: I manually generated stub class of the client using the Eclipse IDE as mentioned in my previous message. The StockMSClient_Stub.class got created in my client project.
    The common project has the 2 interfaces - one from the client and one from the server.
    I have added reference to the common project from the client and server projects to use the interfaces.
    With the above mentioned in place, when I run the server project, the registry binding of the server objects is very fine. But I am getting error in the applet at the line where I am passing the client object to the method provided by the server interface. The following is the code snippet in the applet where I am getting the error.
    specifically the line: String response = objs.login(userId, password, smsClient);     ====================
    public void login() {
                Registry reg = null;
                String userId = "test";
                String password = "test";
                this.smsClient = new StockMSClient();

         User u = obj.find(userId);
         if (u == null) {
              System.out.println("This user is not valid");
         } else {
                         UnicastRemoteObject.exportObject(smsClient);

  • How  to Hold the client ip from the client calls made to the ejbweb servic?

    Hi
    I am working on Ejb3 web services.I want to hold the client ip from the client calls made to the web service.I deployed this service in jboss AS 4.2.1
    In the service implementation i started using
    @Resource
    SessionContext sessionCtx;
    My idea is to get the MessageContext from this SessionContext and finally to get the HttpServletRequest.
    I got the sessionCtx(BaseSessionContext) object.When i am trying to access the MessageContect using the below syntax
    System.out.println(sessionCtx.getMessageContext());
    I got ---ERROR [SOAPFaultHelperJAXWS] SOAP request exception
    javax.ejb.EJBException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: No message context found
    Please provide me with correct solution to this problem.Please also suggest if there is any alternate approach to get the client ip in the service implementation.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Assuming that you are using Form 6i or greater, one way to do is to embedd a java bean in the form, this bean would get you the ip address and in the form you can get_custom_property( ) to get the value from the bean to the oracle form.
    There is one demo example in OTN site to get the ClientIP address, check out if that helps you.

  • How to make the client connect to the server at the command prompt?

    I found this code on IBM's website, it was a training session on servers and clients using java.
    The code compiles fine and the server seems to start up properly when I use java Server 5000. I think whats happening is the server is running and listening for a connection on port 5000.
    When I try to run the client I get the following error.
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: main
    I see a start() method but no main. As far as I know, applications should all have main, it seems as if the person who wrote this kinda confused applets with application. Not that I would really know what happened.
    If you have time, could you tell me if there's an easy fix for this? I would love to have this client/server working if it isn't too much trouble. As I have looked all over the net for a free client/server applet that will actually let me see the java code and none of the free ones do allow getting to their source.
    Most of them allow you to customize them somewhat but also have built in advertising that can't be removed.
    This is the closest I have come to finding one that lets me look under the hood. But alas it doesn't work out of the box and I don't know what to do to fix it.
    Heres the code: Server:

  • Jobserver not available from specific client installation (from Designer)

    Hi,
    I have installed Designer on a PC and everything seems to work fine, except I can not run jobs using the associated jobserver.
    When I open up designer, I get a message that the jobserver is not available. When I go to the admin console (on the same PC) I can run jobs.
    Also, when I use another computer and log on to the same repository, I can use the jobserver from the designer.
    What can possibly be wrong at PC level which prevents me from using the jobserver from Designer?
    I have re-installed designer but it did not have any effect.
    Any help greatly appreciated - I have no idea how to troubleshoot this is also welcome.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jan.

    Hello,
    1.  Make sure that you can ping the Job Server from the client machine - Use the fully qulaified domain name (not ip address)
    2.  make sure that you can ing the client machine from the Job server - Use the fully qualified domain name (not ip address)
    if steps 1 or 2 fail then you need to contact you network admin to resolve the connectivity issues. If you are able to connect using the ip address and not the fully qualified name, you can add an entry to you local host file.
    3.  make sure that you do not have a firewall blocking the Job Server port preventing inbound connections to the job server
    4.  make sure that you do not have a firewall blocking ports from the job server to the client machine.
    The default port for the job server is 3500 make sure that this port is open for connections from the client
    you must also make sure that there is no firewall blocking any ports for connectivity FROM the Job Server TO the client.
    if so ask the network admin to unblock these or provide a port range for you to use.
    if they provide a port range for connectivity from the job server to the client you must go to Tools --> options -->   Designer -->Environment and set the port range in the Designer communication ports section

  • How the client to detect  the server has closed the socket?

    if the server closed the socket by an unnormal way, for example, closing the socket compulsively. Then the client will show the "IOException:java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" message,
    how the client to avoid such an error message to the user/customer, I mean , what the client can deal with such a message?
    where to put the dealing code?
    try{ int receivedLength=in.read(receivedBytes);
    }catch(SocketException e){
    // put the code here? }
    catch(IOException e){
    }

    Do you know how to prove it---"a socket read should
    always always always have a timeout";As ejp said (IMHO ...) it's his opinion and doesn't need proof. I respect his opinion, but I often write code that doesn't set this.
    Instead I use 2 threads per connection, and don't care if the read thread goes to sleep, since I can still write. If you only have one thread per connection, you better ensure that the read will end in a relatively short amount of time, even if your partner decides it's time to go for lunch.
    how the length of this timeout will be? That is a business decision, it all depends on the expected time between received messages and is application dependent.
    is it a field of the socket?If you are using blocking mode sockets you set this with setSoTimeout. If you are using non blocking mode NIO you specify it on the select call, although the soTimeout should also work there, although I've never tried that.

  • Can not build the client example of the webservices/rpc-example

    Hi!
    I have some problems with building the client example of the webservices rpc example.
    I followed the instructions of the readme and was able to build the weatherejb,
    after I saved the client.jar in %WL_HOME%\samples\examples\webservices\rpc\javaClient
    I put the cleint.jar into the classpath of the setExamplesEnv.cmd:

    but if I now change to

    Well, Remember(you might have done this) u have to run the
    setExamplesEnv.cmd after u add the client.jar in the classpath. Also, the
    ant command will work only in the window where u ran the setExamplesEnv.cmd.
    Thats what i didnt and it works perfect for me.
    Hope this helps u.

    lib\weblogic.jar;%WL_HOME%\lib\xmlx.jar;%WL_HOME%\samples\eval\cloudscape\li

    t.jar;%CLIENT_CLASSES%;%SERVER_CLASSES%;%EX_WEBAPP_CLASSES%;C:\bea

    but if I now change to
    $ cd %WL_HOME%\samples\examples\webservices\rpc\javaClient
    and try to build the ear -files by typing:
    ant

  • How can the client know if the SSL certificate specified in the service-config.xml file is invalid/u

    Hi,
    How can the client know if the SSL certificate specified in the service-config.xml file is invalid/untrusted/expired? For example using iOS client, the trusted certificate will not work and the client has no way to know that the certificate is untrusted. Can the lcds server return any specific exceptions for SSL errors?
    Thanks,
    Swathi.

    We use a standard Java keystore and certificate validation can be handled as per standard best practices. At present we do not provide a hook point to validate the server certificate. However, you can register a bootstrap service which validates the certificate on system startup: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dataservicesjee/4.6/Developing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811f00f 6fe7f-7ffeUpdate.html This would require you to pass another copy of the keystore configuration to you Bootstrap service and then you can inspect the certificate in the keystore and validate it.

  • How to get the client identity from the certificate at server side

    hi, this is ravi kiran,
    I am working on a project which requires, receiving a signed file from the client side and verify whether the file is signed by a valid certificate that is there in the servers keystore.
    How can i get the client certificate at server side and check with the certificates already present in the servers keystore.
    i have no idea how to do this
    can any one help me
    thanx in advance

    Hi Ravi, did you get any answer to your question ?
    I'm also after a similar problem, please share your solution, if you have any.

  • How do I get the client certificate from the request

    We are on Netweaver 2004 using the SAP webdispatcher (end-to-end). I need to do an OCSP validation, I have all of the code I need for the OCSP portion.  What I need is the X509Certficate that came from the client.  Is this stored in the request object, session? How do I get it?
    Thanks.

    Hi Joseph,
    I think the question is which component terminates the SSL connection. It could be an upfront load balancer or the WebAS itself. The former could write the certificate into a request header vairable,  while the latter will create a J2EE standard request attribute: javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate
    I never did it with the web dispatcher, but you can try the following:
    X509Certificate[] certs = (X509Certificate[]) request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate");

  • Applescript duplicate command runs different as an Application than from Script Editor

    Hi,
    When I run my script from the Script Editor it copies (duplicates) only the new files from one folder to the other one, as desired.  That is, when the file already exists in the destination folder, it just skips to the next one until they are all done.
    However, if I save that very same script as an Application and run it, Finder throws up a dialog box for each item telling me that it already exists and asks if I'd like to Keep Both, Stop or Replace the file.
    I can't figure out why it would run differently as a Script in Script Editor, to how it would run as an Application?  Can somebody please tell me where I'm going wrong? Or perhaps there has been a change in the way Finder and Applescript operate the Duplicate command in Yosemite?
    Interestingly, this problem has only started occurring since I updated to Yosemite.  Before that, on Mavericks, I didn't have this problem!  And I've also just tried the same thing on my other MacBook Pro that's running Mavericks and it works as intended.
    Thanks so much!

    I think the replacing parameter may be broken. The first time I run this:
    tell application "Finder"
      make new folder at desktop with properties {name:"newf"} with replacing
    end tell
    I get a new folder. The second and subsequent times, I get this:
    Unless I'm completely misunderstanding how to use the replacing parameter...
