Applescript duplicate command runs different as an Application than from Script Editor

Hi,
When I run my script from the Script Editor it copies (duplicates) only the new files from one folder to the other one, as desired. That is, when the file already exists in the destination folder, it just skips to the next one until they are all done.
However, if I save that very same script as an Application and run it, Finder throws up a dialog box for each item telling me that it already exists and asks if I'd like to Keep Both, Stop or Replace the file.
I can't figure out why it would run differently as a Script in Script Editor, to how it would run as an Application? Can somebody please tell me where I'm going wrong? Or perhaps there has been a change in the way Finder and Applescript operate the Duplicate command in Yosemite?
Interestingly, this problem has only started occurring since I updated to Yosemite. Before that, on Mavericks, I didn't have this problem! And I've also just tried the same thing on my other MacBook Pro that's running Mavericks and it works as intended.

I think the replacing parameter may be broken. The first time I run this:
tell application "Finder"
make new folder at desktop with properties {name:"newf"} with replacing
end tell
I get a new folder. The second and subsequent times, I get this:
Unless I'm completely misunderstanding how to use the replacing parameter...

AppleScript code runs slower as an application than running from the editor

I discovered today that AppleScrip runs much faster when I run the code from the run button in Applescript Editor 2.3 than when I save the source code as an application and then run the application. I really expected the opposite. I would prefer not having to open Applescript Editor 2.3 each time I run a program, but the time difference is significant (see below). What causes this? Am I doing something wrong? I save the source code by going to File -> Save As -> File format: Application. I then run the application.
Examples (both programs manipulate data in lots of Excel spread sheet files):
Program 1- run time is 5 min, 40 sec when selecting run in Applescript Editor 2.3, and 23m, 25s when running as an application.
Program 2- run time is 7m, 12s when selecting run in Applescript Editor 2.3, and 12m, 54s when running as an application.

I tried the code "Hiroto came up with as solution that was essentially 100% effective" provided in the link. My run time went from 5m 30s when run from source code to 5m 50s when run as an application (differences in seconds could easily be my crude method of measuring time). Previously, it took 23m 25s when run as an application. Thanks, this is the solution I was looking for.
However, in searching this issue, I found similar code in a discussion topic titled "Applet speed -- Hiroto's solution followed by issues" posted Jul 27, 2008. That code would randomly end with "The variable o is not defined". I hope the new code solves this problem. The new code certainly worked great the first time I used it.

Queries run faster under Administrator account than from "regular" users

We have OBIEE 10g used as a reporting tool against E-Business R11i. When OBI reports are run from the Administrator account, they complete in about 15 secs. When the same report , with same parameters is run from a non-administrator account, completion takes 5 mins. In this latter case, the E-Business DBA can clearly see the "expensive" query running in the E-Business database (module=nqsserver@<obi application server host>). In both cases, the results of the query are the same.
What can account for the difference in performance when the user account is changed?

Not too sure what you mean but I do know that,
1. Authentication for end-users is through MS Active Directory (to login to OBI, they enter the same password as for the Windows Domain login to their PC's).
2. Authorization is via responsibilities granted to their corresponding accounts in R11i E-Business Suite, ie the reports that they can run in OBIEE are determined by responsibilities in E-Business.

How do I run an Applescript everytime I run a Copy command (Command C)?

Here is my current script which is designed to replace text in the clipboard:

Are you wanting to make this change for one application or all applications?
You will need to re-assign command + c to your script. You may miss some functionality of the command + c. Not sure if you can simulate a command + c from the script. You could try using the applications edit function for copy the highlighted text to the clipboard. Here are the related unix commands
pbcopy Copy data to the clipboard
pbpaste Paste data from the Clipboard
I think it would be best to do this for only one application.

We had the same problem - how to deploy a number of identical applications, using each their own db.
(for training).
The solution we used is to wrap the entire application into different applications by using a very small
module called KURSUS01, KURSUS02 etc, that did nothing but call the start procedure of the main app.
Then in the dbsession connect, we made a call appname to get the application name, and appended the
first 8 chars to the dbname. Thus our dbnames now points to logicals name: rdbdataKURSUS01, rdbdataKURSUS02 etc.
All this allows us to deploy the identical apps in the same env, or change one version, and run both the old
and new program on the same pc and server at the same time (eg. KURSUS01 and KURSUS02).
I also think this is a kludge - but it works nicely!

I have successfully created the .class files using javac command in the following directory :
c:\ejb
I have also created Helloworld.ear file in c:\ejb using sun application server which contains the following files:

But the problem is that i'm not able to run the HelloWorld.class file successfully from the command prompt. So please suggest me the comand.

You can run this code from the command prompt in the same way as you run any other simple java program. The only thing is you need to set the Home and Local interfaces in the classpath.And obviously if u had deployed the bean in ur app server container, then its all over.
And one more thing is that u need to set the provider URL in the InitialContext created in the client program.

Applescript Summarize Command - how to process PDF files?

I'm stuck in applescript...I'm putting together an applescript that reads a set of PDF files in a folder and returns each PDf file summarized using the applescript summarize command.
Can't ssem to wrap my head around the logic needed....Any help is much appreciated!

Applescript won't run as .app but runs fine in AppleScript Editor

I'm an experienced web developer.. but total applescript noob. so forgive me if this is a silly question.
I'm calling my script it from Flash via fscommand to launch a PDF using finder, rather than a browser.
The script works great from AppleScript Editor when i hit run but when saved as a .app it doesn't run.
any ideas?

A script application is actually an application bundle - a bundle is a kind of folder that gets treated like a single item (in this case, an application). Getting path to me results in a path that ends with a colon (since it is a folder), so when you try to use text item delimiters to get the container you are actually just stripping off the trailing colon, so the path built for your file won't point to the correct location.
As previously posted, the Finder can get the container, so you can just do everything in a tell application "Finder" statement:

Applescript works in Automator but not as Application workflow

I have a pretty simple Application workflow in automator that runs this applescript:
set front_app to (path to frontmost application as Unicode text)
tell application front_app
activate
set bounds of window 1 to {0, 0, 1280, 800}
end tell
as you can see all it does is it maximizes the current window. it works when I run the script from within automator, but when i save it as an application and run that it says the applescript errored.
Why is my simple automator not working as an application?

When you run that script as an application it comes to the front and is therefore the frontmost application: it doesn't have a window to be maximised.
You would need to specify the actual application to have its window maximised:
tell application "Safari"
activate
set bounds of window 1 to {0, 0, 1280, 800}
end tell
Trying to find out which was the frontmost application before you launched the AppleScript application is going to to be difficult.

[newbie qn] script runs under Script Editor but not as application

I have a simple script that runs successfully under the Script Editor. The script is:

However, when I tried to run it as an application, I encountered the error 'Can't set document "Untitled" of application "Safari" to "http://www.google.com".'
How should I rewrite the script so that it would run as an application? Thanks!

How to configure oracle 6i report server run time component with application server

we got oracle 6i report server for developing the web based reports for our undergoing product. we r succesed in developing the web based reports using oracle 6i report server.But we r facing problems while deploying the product with oracle reports at clients place,why because the client does not have the oracle 6i report server. To solve this problem we have to configure the oracle 6i report server run time component with application server at client side , but we are unable to configure this component(that is CGI handler).

You can run multiple instances of Reports Server in 6i.
In tnsnames.ora, for each server, have a different name and each listening to different port.
For example,
server1.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1949))
server2.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1950))

Can you run multiple Excel Services Applications against a single Web Application?

I have been struggling with this one for a while now, hopefully someone can help me understand what I am missing...
I have a single SharePoint Farm. This farm runs multiple Web Applications & the Service Applications.
1. SharePoint Only Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://sharepoint.com/...)
2. MS Project Server with Multiple Site Collections (http://pwa.com/...)
3. My services applications all exist on the same farm.
I was under the impression, and believe that I validated this through testing and from this site (http://blogs.office.com/2009/11/16/excel-services-in-sharepoint-2010-administration-improvements),
that you can only run a single Excel Services Application against each unique Web Application. In essence, I can run one Excel Services Application against the SharePoint Only Server, and another Excel Services Application against the MS Project
Server... However, I can NOT run multiple Excel Services Applications against the different Site Collections within the MS Project Server becuase it is only aware of its "default" Excel Service Application.
ie. I can NOT do the following: ExcelServiceApp1 for
http://pwa.com/SiteA & ExcelServiceApp2 for
http://pwa.com/SiteB
Is that correct?
If that is not correct, then I must be missing a way to specify a different Excel Service App for each Project Web App Site.
Some other solutions that I think may work, but would really appreciate if someone could validate:
- Create multiple Project Server Service Applications for each instance of PWA/Excel Service? (but wouldn't this still have to use one of the two WebApplications and cause the same limitation?)
- Create a new Web Applciation for each PWA/Excel Service? (ie.
http://pwasite1.com;
http://pwasite2.com; http://pwasite3.com, etc.)
Thoughts/suggestions are very greatly appreciated!!!

I have not done what you are doing and I assume that you are using project server 2010. However, you answer lives in PowerShell.
The New-WebServiceProxy show that you can create a new proxy by spacing a URL and not a web application. The default proxy from the web application is directing to the default excel service. If you need another excel service, you must specify another
proxy and this may do it for you.
Also, don't forget the Secure State service and that each excel report will need this configured, that is with the assumption that the other excel service requires different authentication.
PS. This question may get a better answer in the SharePoint forums.

I ve installed the 10th time just to make sure i did not miss anything.

fyi that while installing, the % complete jumps from 40% suddenly to 72% and then to 97% .. Till 40% complete, its slow and steady.
I ve downloaded several times fresh and still the same issue.
I am not sure how i m missing any missing any classpath or files.

FIRST TIME RUNNING THE DEFAULT BSP APPLICATION IN ABAP

Hi BSP experts,
        I am happy to see many people are solving the problems on BSP in sdn.
I am running the bsp application for the first time by taking the t-code se80 into consideration and executing the default bsp application given there.But I am getting the error   The URL http://nwrbcs:8000/sap/public/bsp/sap/system/login.htm was not called due to an error.The error is common as to all RABAX_STATE and in addressbar the address displayed is

Mainly my problem is i am not able to goto logon page.I am using the version Netweaver04 to run this application.Are there any special prerequisites to run a bsp application.I had donwe some settings in t-code SICF all services are activated(subservices also) and in path /default_host/sap/bc/bsp rightclick display service in handler list tab I added CL_HTTP_EXT_BSP. In RZ10 I added the parameter icm\host_name_full (as I am using workgroup instead of domain in my system) for instance profile.In t-code SCICM status is running.
If not clear with the above details I will send the screenshots of required t-codes and runtime errors to the mail-id immediately.
But I am not able to retrieve the problem.Is it necessary to check any kernel updates.I dont know more about that, I will send the required screenshots clearly to know all the details.I will send the trace file also if u need.It is very urgent for me to work on bsp but I cant.If u r familiar with particular version I will send that screenshots as I tried it in 4.7ee(R/3),ECC5.0(R/3) AND Netweaver04(abap).I am getting different errors in all the three versions.pls go through this and help me.

you need to configure the FQDN. That is causing the issue in your case.
the URL shd start something like abc.mycompany.com:port_number...

JDev 10.1.3 : Error running my first ADF application.

I compiled and runned my first JDev application and I cound the following error during the connection :
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified
I found the same error in 10.1.2.1 and I solved it replacing the new JDBC driver with the old one !
Should I do the same ?

You where right, the conversion left a "JClient Runtime" library.
I eliminated it and I went back to the original error.

This error seems to be related to the EnvInfoProvider and I found it in 10.1.2.1 .
Using tester (wich uses a different infoprovider) it works with the same AM.
I suspect something changed in jdbc driver (may be symply a default) wich TesterInfoProvider resets correctly but my code don't.
