MapViewer / Jdeveloper 10g / Installation

Hi,
Just beginning to explore MapViewer and I'm wondering if the embedded OC4J container in Jdeveloper will support exploring MapViewer capabilities, or do I have to install a separate OC4J container to begin.
Thanks,
Marie

It'll work in the embedded OC4J. There are some specific setup steps you have to do. I don't recall them. They were discussed in an earlier post on this discussion forum.

I finally deleted the MYSQL Database connection to the application. Still it doesnt work. Please help me as I really cant track why this is so.

    Hello,
Thank You very much for the solution. I had uninstalled the previous JDeveloper 10g installation and installed a new instance of the same. After which it worked without much of a problem.
However, my application requires to use MySQL database, so how do I tackle such an error. What was wrong with the connection? I mean MySQL instance seemed to work fine. Is there any version with which JDeveloper can work? Right now am using MySQL 5.0.? Please do advise.

  • JDeveloper 10g download

I am unable to download the zip file for the full JDeveloper 10g installation. When I attempt a "Save As" command for jdev9052.zip, I get the message "Server returned an invalid or unrecognized response". Please check the link and let me know if it is valid.
    Thank you,
    Dana

Works fine for me....please clear your browser cache and re-try.

Thanks for tip on the log file.
    I have the data loaded.

  • Ann: New MapViewer Extensions for JDeveloper 10g

We are pleased to annouce the availability of a new MapViewer extension kit for JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.1 or later versions).
Please download the kit from the following MapViewer page:
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/mapviewer/index.html
    Thanks

Yes currently the extension is strictly a top-level browsing tool with no mapping metadata drill down/editing capabilities.
Those features are being planned for the next major release of this extension kit, as part of our major effort to rewrite the map definition tool. there is however no ETA yet.

  • New JHeadStartProject not found from JDeveloper 10g

After installation of JHeadStart and configuring in JDeveloper 10g ( Tools - Preferences), and after creating new workspace, I am still not getting New JHeadStart Project.
    Where could be the error?
I was testing out the steps in "Migrating Forms to J2EE" viewlet.
but the very first step in Jdeveloper is not coming.
The only sign of JHeadStart's presense is it is showing the valid version no on mentioning the JHeadStart home.

The "Migrating Forms to J2EE" viewlet is based on the pre-ADF release of JHeadstart. The latest JHeadstart version does not have a "New JHeadstart Project" option, but has an "Enable JHeadstart for this project" option. This allows for transforming existing ADF projects to JHeadstart besides creating new ones.
If you lookup the JHeadstart Developer's Guide (http://download.oracle.com/consulting/jhsdevguide.pdf), chapter 2 "Getting Started", it contains 4 sections:
    - Setting up the JDeveloper project
    - Setting up the Business Components package
    - Building your Application
    - Refining the Generated Application
The first section explains how you create a new JHeadstart project with JHeadstart 10.1.2. When you migrate Forms to J2EE, you can skip the second section and part of the 3rd section (as is mentioned in those sections) because the JHeadstart Designer Generator will do that for you.
    Hope this helps,

  • JDeveloper 10g and BI Beans

How Jdeveloper 10g(preview) is integrated with BI Beans?
What is %JDEV_HOME%/bibeans/lib/bibeans.jar? How to use it? Where I can see sample? Documentation?
Thank You, sorry for bad english.

    Hi,
%JDEV_HOME%/bibeans/lib/ actually is the directory where the bibeans.jar library is located. %JDEV_HOME% is the installation directory of your JDeveloper release.

  • How to create a "pjc" using jdeveloper 10g

    Hi guys
I am trying to make my first pjc (pluggable java component) using jdeveloper (default installation with Oracle developer 10g). I was following the [Jdeveloper 9 documentation||http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/index-087743.html] from OTN and got stuck once after creating the PJC1.java
According to the documentation, the property inspector should allow me to change various properties for the newly created .java file and let me add new events with the events tab. In my case, once after I select the java item from UI, the property inspector doesn't show anything. No tabs for properties or events :O
If somebody could point me towards Oracle documentation for Jdeveloper 10g, it would grateful.
    regards,

Oracle jDeveloper 10.1.2.1.0 was the last version the inclued the Forms PJC Wizards. All versions after this didn't include them. You can actually develop a PJC using any IDE, but I have found using the PJC Wizard to be extreamly helpful. Java is not my strongest skill and I don't do a lot of Java PJC development so I keep this version installed for when I need to work on PJCs.
Craig...Thank you Craig. We are with Oracle ERP R12 from 2009 June and almost all our legacy applications were either made a part of the ERP suite, or hosted with Weblogic server 10.3.6. As leading the development team, my biggest challenge is making the custom applications migrated to 11g forms/Reports "behave" exactly like the ERP suite.
We wanted to design a parameter screen for the reports, almost like with ERP Suite, where the parameter columns are dynamically created during runtime and the biggest challenge was to limit the MAXIMUM LENGTH for those columns, thus started our venture to find an appropriate solution. After spending almost 20 years in the field of software development, I just didn't want to copy a jar file from the web and get over with it. Instead I wanted to understand what the codes do.
Anyway, Francois was kind enough to provide the .java with his pjc blog and I created a new pjc based on this .java code :) and my objective was satisfied. If Oracle really wants to "kill" the forms/reports, I think they just should do that, instead of removing few highly sought components with so called "Newer versions"
Ridiculously the documentation library for JDeveloper 10.1.0 is empty, even though it is listed with Oracle documentation library.
    Cheers guys

  • ADF is not working in JDeveloper 10g

    Hi all,
I've been trying to get ADF to work with JDeveloper 10g but to no avail. I've followed the steps from the following link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/how-to-adf-faces-10gjdev-085657.html
the only thing that i fail to follow is in creating the library. I have only the adf-faces-api.jar and adf-faces-impl.jar but not the share-1_1_18.jar
I do not know whether this is creating the problem as my error message is not helpful.
    part of the error msg:

Now that I've looked at the linked article...
That was showing you how to use a very early version of ADF Faces (a pre-release, in fact) with a very old version of JDeveloper. That document is nearly 9 years old.
Starting with JDeveloper 10.1.3, ADF Faces is "built-in"
And since JDeveloper 10.1.3.x, we have had both the JDeveloper 11.1.1.x and 11.1.2.x series released.
Why are you still using 10.1.2.x?

The link to Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for Windows on the OTN Web Site don't work. Using search on site does not turn up any installation document for Oracle Application Server 10g.
How can I find the Installtion Guide or the Quick Installtion Guide for Oracle Application Server 10g for Windows?

    Hi,
The docs you seek are available through the OTN documentation pages at: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/index.html.
Click on the link for "Oracle Application Server Release 10g (9.0.4)" and then on the "View Library" link for part B10468_04 - Oracle Application Server 10g Online Documentation 10g (9.0.4.0.0) for Microsoft Windows.

Check the page function and make sure that you are providing all the parameters for page functions. Also make sure that it is the page where the process starts and it is not expecting any value from any other page.
