Mask rotation is backwards

I'm running the very lastest version of speedgrade on mac osx 10.9.5
The mask works properly until I twist it then as you can see the effect of the mask is 180 degrees off.

Hi,
This is a known issue. All motion effects into Premiere will affect the mask into SpeedGrade when using Direct Link.
Thanks,
Fran

    Thank you, I've got it reverse, but now it tracks across the screen, is there a way I can lock it in a fixed place?

  • Why my gradient mask at home renders smooth, but is clipped at work?

    I created a number of gradient masks applied to images with a basic 100 to 0 black gradient, on my Mac at home. They look smooth in Illustrator, and rendered smooth both as a PDF and exported to a PNG.
    Gradient Mask from my Mac at home:
    But when I open the same illustrator document on my Mac at work the gradation of the mask is clipping. So instead of a smooth transition there's now a hard line.
    Gradient Mask on my Mac at work:
    This is the same file, opened on different Macs. Both identical versions of Illustrator CS6, identical color settings, identical color profiles.
    The main differences are my Mac at home is a 2009 MacPro running OS 10.9, and my Mac at work is a 2008 MacPro running OS 10.8.
    I've created and recreated gradient masks over and over again, and I cannot get a smooth transparency gradient mask at all on my Mac at work.
    This presented a problem, as the client had to have last minute revisions when I was at work, and could not produce a smooth image, I was forced to deliver the final graphic with clipped gradient masks.

    So deleting preferences didn't fix it. I even rasterized the gradient to see if an image mask would work better, that didn't work. Then I toggled "invert mask." I was suprised to see that once I inverted the mask (which reversed the gradient), the transparency was smooth from 0 to 100.
    So I've figured out a work around for the problem, but it's still not resolved.
    Invert gradient mask
    Rotate gradient mask 180°
    Adjust gradient mask break points to accomidate reversal
    Here's the result:
    Now if someone can explain to me why a gradient mask doesn't work in one direction, but it does when it's inverted.

  • Big big problem

    I have a serious problem, with a dynamic text box in flash.
    I created a map and would add the name of the streets but some of these are arranged in diagonal.
    the streets are loaded from an external .txt, if the dynamic text box is in  horizontal shows the text.
    But when i put the box in diagonal does not show the text, someone can help me?

    Ned has given you the answer. You need to embed the fonts. Select the text fields and from the properties panel select "Character Embedding…"
    That should fix the problem. But since you are using codepage=true and I'm guessing that English isn't your native language, so that might mess it up. I don't know why you think you need that, but I would recommend getting rid of it. It is generally better to use proper unicode (utf-8) encoded files. So if teste.txt is some non-unicode encoding I recommend changing it to utf-8 and not using codepage.
    Even if you don't go to unicode you need to embed the fonts to mask, rotate, or alpha textfields.

  • Font Effect Help

    I came across this on a design blog and was wanting to learn how to create this.. can anyone help?

    Yes, get as far as clipping the text to the flower image.  You could then make a selection of the flowers with quick select and refine edge, and then select the layer mask that is clipping the text to the flowers, and use a white brush to paint inside the selection where you want the flowers to overlap.
    Another way, and if was at all a complex project, I would carefully select the flowers as above, and copy the selection to a new layer at the top of the stack.  I could then return to that selection at any time by Ctrl clicking it.  I'd probably lock i=the layer's transparent pixels, and add a layer mask using the Alt key to 'hide all'.  The you could paint in the overlaps where wanted.
    A quick point, but depending on what method I'd used to clip the text to the flowers, I might want to unlink the mask from the text so I could move the mask, rotate or Transform, in order to place the best flower arrangment behind it.
    I had a little play earlier (but forgot to save it) and made a copy of the entire flower layer, and used a painterly filter on the top one.  I also clipped a levels layer to it and raised the black output slider to make it flat and a lighter.  That made a nice background befind the clipped flowers with the full tonal range.

  • Add filename AND rotate to match mask angle?

    Hello,
      I'd like to be able to automatically add a document's filenmame to a series of masked files. Thanks to a previous question (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/547382?tstart=0) I have a series of 'panels' files that have all been saved out from a master file. There are hundreds of them and that last script was a giant help.
      I could probably figure this out if it weren't for the fact that some of the documents contain masks that are not rectangles. All masks have perfect vertical edges and most have horizontal tops and bottom. However, quite a few have angled top and/or bottom edges.
      Any advice on how I can create some javascript that can automate the process of labeling these files? This could be run on a series of files, or one at a time if needed. It would have to:
    1) determine the filename of the document being 'labeled'
    2) insert the text into the mask path item as the top item in the mask.
    3) determine the angle of the top of the mask
    4) rotate the text item to match the mask angle if other than horizontal
    5) inset the label from the edge slighlty (configurable in the script?)
    6) Outline the lable text
    I have attached a sample file that roughly illustrates the kind of file the script might be used on.
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hi, first thanks and second i have good news.
    As you may have noticed KERNELS parameter usually changes and thus the rule does not apply, but the path /dev/input/by-id don't change, so:
    Create a udev rule:
    ## /etc/udev/rules.d/99-fix-jsx-eventx.rules ##
    SUBSYSTEM=="input", ATTRS{idVendor}=="045e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0745", KERNEL=="js[0-9]*", RUN+="/usr/local/bin/fix-jsx-eventx.sh"
    Then create the script to change permissions:
    ## /usr/local/bin/fix-jsx-eventx.sh ##
    #!/bin/bash
    sleep 5
    chmod a-r-w "/dev/input/by-id/usb-Microsoft_Microsoft®_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v7.0-if02-event-joystick"
    chmod a-r-w "/dev/input/by-id/usb-Microsoft_Microsoft®_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v7.0-if02-joystick"
    The "sleep 5" is necessary because the eventX is not immediately created, making that permissions aren't applied correctly.
    # chmod +x /usr/local/bin/fix-jsx-eventx.sh
    After that, reload rules
    # udevadm control --reload
    Then replug the device and voilà! Both problems solved, get rid of fake joystick and working multimedia keys.
    Bye!"
    PD: Google translated...

  • Rotating mask not working

    Hi, getting very frustrated as i cant see what the problem is
    I have two layers, the bottom layer is a graphic, above it i
    have a group which consists of an outline of a circle and then a
    segment of the circle. I've set a motion tween and set it to rotate
    clockwise so the segment basically moves around (due to the outline
    of the circle).
    I've then made it a mask, in source it works perfectly, eg
    you see part of the graphic below as it rotates around.
    However when i publish it it doesnt work, dont see either
    graphic ? If i then 'unmask' it and publish it i can see the circle
    moving round on top of the graphic, the minute i make it a mask
    (and it works in source) then when i publish it i dont see anything
    Dont understand what i've done wrong ?
    Can anyone help ? Regards

    Found out what the problem was, by having two graphics in the
    mask it seemed to mess it up. The static outline of a circle (for
    the segment to move around) messed it up, if i deleted the outline
    of the circle then changed the focal point of the segment instead
    it worked.
    Still think its strange why the original didnt work (I had
    someones old code and was trying to recreate it) but all is working
    now doing it this way.
    Thanks anyway

  • Rotating and Centering Masked Text

    I'm in the process of creating a textual watermark for my photos in photoshop but have come across a big problem. I am using the horizontaly text mask tool but I cannot rotate nor center (both horizontally and vertically) my text before turning it into a layer. If I  rotate and center the text after putting it into a new layer it wont work since the text will move and leave the writing embossed onto the picture. Any help is kindly appreciated !

    Do not use Mask Text use a Text layer set its fill to 0 and give it a layer style.

  • Is it possible to rotate a vignette mask?

    I want to use a vignette mask, but rather than the straight left- right oval I would like to have the vignette at about a 45 degree angle.
    I have the effect otherwise worked out and I do not wish to rotate the image.
    I was able to get the correct angle in a shape mask on the color correction but that blacks out the underlying clip on the timeline.
    Message was edited by: richardfrommissoula

    1) Right-Click the Vignette Mask Effect and hit Edit in Motion
    2) When it opens Click the Layer "Color Solid"
    3) In the inspector click "Properties" and right-click the "Rotation" property and select "Publish"
    4) Save
    IN FCPx you will now have a Vignette Mask copy
    Drag that onto your clip et voila... You now have rotation controls ;-)

  • Can I rotate masked Layers in After Effects CS6

    I'm having trouble finding out how to rotate masked layers or do I have to erase the Masks and using the pen tool to cut a rotated version of them.

    You can rotate the layer: use the rotate tool, or you can scrub the numerical values in the rotation property in the timeline, or enter numerical values via the keyboard.
    You can rotate the mask:  double-click on the layer, double-click on the mask, and rotate it at the corners.

  • Image mask won't rotate

    my image mask won't rotate when i grab the handle. it worked fine the other night but not anymore. is there any other way to rotate it. i'm sure if i create a new project and jump througha  bunch of hoops it will start working again but i need to simply rotate this image mask without spending all my time. any ideas?
    thanks

    Tom,
    Not sure if this is what you need but here's a snapshot. Everything else on the image mask works except for the rotate.

  • When the arrow rotates backwards on the tab what does this mean

    sometimes when i try to conncet to a website the rotating arrow turns grey and goes in reverse what does tsi signify and why can i not manage to connect to the website in question
    regards

    * When the icon on the left side of a tab rotates clockwise, you're ''receiving'' data from the site in question.
    * When the icon on the left side of a tab rotates counter-clockwise, you're connecting to site in question (''sending'' connection requests).

  • How do I stop FireFox from converting css3 transforms such as scale, or rotate, into matrix transforms?

    Go to pilatch.com/cards and click any of the cards in the arc. Now do the same in Chrome, or Safari, or IE 9. I have un-min-catted all my JavaScript, so you can see what's going on more easily.
    CSS3 transforms in version 16 of FireFox are being converted into matrix transforms.
    It pretty much horks my rotate and scale animations.
    For instance, if you set the style attribute of an element to something like, style="transform:scale(0.75)", FireFox immediately converts that element's transform property, such as <element>.style.transform to "matrix(...)".
    I know how to do the linear algebra to convert rotate and scale via jQuery cssHooks into matrix transformations, and I've even written code to detect this "feature" of a browser, (that it forces a transform into matrix), and return a different hook that writes a matrix transform instead of a rotate transform, or scale, all in the past two days, on my development site.
    However, it's proving to be increasingly challenging to make this new feature compatible with jQuery's animations. Going further, I may have to hack jQuery just to make this work for FireFox, or drop FireFox animation support altogether unless some FireFox developers make their new implementation backwards compatible.
    I know that transforms normally get converted into matrices behind the scenes in the rendering engine. Leave your matrix there. Don't overwrite what the user has put in for a transform!
    I also know that I should be using CSS3 animations, but, dangit, I started this project before those had widespread support. I can't rewrite all my animations because I want to support FireFox. That's not really an option. I'll direct my users to Chrome instead. I have more features in development that use these types of animation, and I'm in too deep to turn back.
    Thanks for your consideration. Please contact me as you learn more about this.

  • How can I code for a click and drag to progress forward/backward in timeline

    I'm working on a project, the goal is to have a .swf animation like this.
    The functionality I'm looking for is:
    1. I need my animation to make one full rotation and stop,
    and then
    2. I need to fix my AS3 so you have to CLICK/HOLD/DRAG to progress forward and backward through the timeline, but only when your holding the mouse button down.
    Currently the code progresses the frame forward and backward in relation to the mouseX position.
    Here is my current code:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    var startPosition:Number=mouseX;
    var delayTime=10;
    gotoAndStop(1);
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, onMouse);
    function onMouse(e:MouseEvent):void{
        stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE,onMouse);
        var currentPosition:Number=mouseX;
        if(mouseX-startPosition<=0){
            nextFrame();
        }else{
            prevFrame();
        setTimeout(setListener, delayTime);
    function setListener(){
        startPosition=mouseX;
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE,onMouse);
    any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks.

  • How do I move a pattern layer independent of its vector mask?

    I've created a pattern fill layer and assigned a vector mask to it. How do I move the pattern around without affecting the mask? I realize if I want to rotate the pattern I'd need to convert it to a smart object, but if I only need to adjust the pattern location there must be some way to do that without moving the vector mask along with it. A traditional layer shows the vector and raster mask layer with a lock icon, but fill pattern layers are different for some reason. Can someone "fill" me in?

    rcraighead wrote:
    Yes, I understand that. I am working with pattern layers, not layers filled with a bitmap pattern.
    That is not what your showing above in red above your showing a shape layer in CS6 a pattern fill layer with a vector mask is a cs6 shape layer. Even the icon on the layer's content in the layers palette shows its a shape layer.  You can edit the vector mask you can not unlink it. For its a cs6 shape layer.  As you noted you can first convert pattern fill layer into a smart object layer. It then acts like a normal pixel layer with an associated transform to the canvas size. Your no longer dealing with a pattern fill layer. When you rotate it you will have the same problem with the layers corners areas.  CS6 changed shape layers design they have more options then prior  versions of Photoshop and prior versions of Photoshop can not handle CS6 shape layers that used cs6 shape options like stroke, line type, and pattern fills.
