Master-detail report, hide detail on new search

Hi, I'm newbie, so I need help. I have Master-detail report on same page. Master is interactive report, detail is SQL report which use hidden item as condition.
For display detail data I use edit link. But I have problem when I make new search on master, detail still shows the old data.
Can somebody tell me, how can I hide details , when I make new search on master? Or set hidden item to null, when I make new search?
Example you can see in http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=51834:4 . Login : demo/demo
Thanks
Igor
PS: Sorry on my broken English

Hi,
This can be achieved by doing something like the following:
Have a single SQL statement that joins the two tables together. eg,
select p.project_title,
d.project_detail1,
d.project_detail2,
etc
from projects p
inner join details d on d.project_id = p.project_id
This will provide a flat table with the project title in the first column for all records.
Then, in the Report Attributes, you need to switch on Column Breaks:
In the Break Formatting section, set Breaks to "First Column"
In the When displaying a break column use this format, enter #project_title#
In the Identify how you would like your breaks to be displayed, select "Repeat headings on break"
Finally, clear the "Show" tick for the project_title column
There's probably something you could do to improve formatting etc, but this should give you a start.

  • Matser Table/Detail Table -- Hide detail panel when no row

    Hi,
    I would like to hide the detail panel when the user selects a row in the master table without detail.
    I try to put something like this:
    <af:panelHeader
    rendered="#{bindings.MyView2.estimatedRowCount>0}">
    But it does not work, instead the previous detail rows are display when there is no detail rows for the master row.
    I need to to press a button <af:commandButton text="Apply change"/> , to render the page correctly.
    The selection facet used in the master table is defined as follow:
    <f:facet name="selection">
    <af:tableSelectOne autoSubmit="true"></af:tableSelectOne>
    </f:facet>
    Where am I wrong, it is my first project with ADF ?
    Any help will be appreciate,
    Thanks,

    Well not really clear if it's a bug or not, but here's two workarounds:
    1- the table is surrounded by a panelCollection, if we add a partial trigger from the panelCollection to the table, on every change of row selection the table refreshes itself.
    2- The second option was to remove the primary keys from the entity, and force it to use RowId as the primary key.
    This is such a weird behavior in ADF, it's one of the basic things that one will do in an application. We tried to do a test on a smaller app and it gave the same results.
    Here's the scenario:
    Master/detail linked by two keys
    Master PK (key1, key2)
    Detail PK (key1, key2, key3) => key1 and key2 are the link between the tables.
    If anyone can reproduce this and confirm if it's a bug, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Master-detail reports in SqlDeveloper

    Hello,
    I recently read this article by Sue Harper.
    www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/07-may/o37sql.html
    I am using Sqldeveloper for a little while now, but never created a user-defined report.
    This morning I read this article about it, and I am really thrilled.
    The problem is: I cannot get a master-detail report to work.
    I followed the instructions:
    Master query:
    select a.master_column
    from not_important a
    The type of the detail report is "DETAIL" and I refer to the master-column like this : where blabla = :MASTER_COLUMN
    I Tried:
    * changing caption of the bind variable.
    * adding a column alias in the master query
    * changing type to child
    nothing works
    Tried it in sqldeveloper: 1.5.4 and 1.1.2.25
    neither work.
    Of course I am missing the obvious. Can somebody please point out, what I am doing wrong.
    Regards.

    I finally figured out, what I was doing wrong.
    I tested my report with a single master-record by pressing the detail run-button (>) immediately after the report openend, WITHOUT first actually selecting this single master record with my mouse.
    So when I hit the detail run-button (>) Oracle returned with a "All Rows Fetched: 0". So I never realized I was actually querying with a NULL value in the bind variable.

    Hi,
    why don't you use the master/detail table option when dragging the master VO ?

  • Detail Reports must be Refreshed if Bind Vars are Changed

    I have several "Master / Detail" reports where the Master has columns that are passed to the detail reports as Bind Variables.
    We've noticed that the Detail reports always return the report for the first bind variables sent to the report. To update the detail report based on the new bind variables, the admin must hit the report refresh button at the top of the page.
    For example:
    Master Report A contains a table with two columns, with the first column linked to a Detail Report
    ColA / ColB
    Clicking on ColA passes ColB to the Detail Report. The Detail report uses the bind variable to run a SQL Query.
    If two rows are in the Master Report
    A1 / B1
    A2 / B2
    Clicking A1 creates a correct URL and Detail Report using B1
    Going back to the Master Report and Clicking A2 quickly shows a Detail Report with B1. Using the Refresh Report button generates a Detail Report with B2. Note that the HTTP GET URL is proper and shows B2 in the second parameter.
    Is it pretty standard practice for a GC Administrator to hit the Refresh button on a report?

    I'm not sure what you mean by via "the WebCache".
    I am going from browser directly to the management system with nothing in between (nothing but net).
    This does appear to be a framework problem. I've tried several different approaches. I am currently moving to hand generate the URLs to avoid this problem. I will check back if it works. The good thing is that I do not appear to require the reportId to build the URL.
    The goal is to insert event=refresh into the URL GET parameters ... hacking this into the bind parameters didn't work as the framework escapes the URL so the & gets turned into an innocuous escaped parameter.

  • Drill down from Summary to Detail Report

    BI Publisher 11g

  • Dynamically select detail report for a master report link item or button?

    I'm still new to APEX, so apologies if this sounds like a stupid question, but so far I can't find anything online about how to do the following.
    I have a simple report, and I want to be able to drill down from here to a detail report via a link item (or a button) in each row. The problem is that the specific detail report to use depends on a combination of values in the parent record.
    So if I have a parent record in the master report with values for columns 1/2/3 of A/B/C, I would drill down to a detail report against table X. If my parent record has values of D/E/F, I might drill down to a different detail report against table Y.
    I can build the individual reports easily enough, and I can set up a link item in the master report to drill down to a hard-coded detail report page. I can even generate the name (alias) of the relevant target report as an extra non-DB item in each row of the parent report. But I can't figure out how to allow each row in the parent report to actually link to a different detail report dynamically, depending on the contents of the parent row.
    Can anybody suggest an easy way to do this, or point me towards an online resource that would explain how to do this (preferably in basic terms that this APEX-newbie can understand)?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
    When you say "Detail report" do you just mean a normal report of the child records for the selected master record or a tabular form style "Details report"?
    Using different reports on a page would, typically, depend on the value in a hidden page item - for example, P1_REPORT_TYPE. Your link could pass an appropriate value into this item and the second page would then use this as a Condition for each of the report regions - each region being conditionally displayed when the hidden item is a specific value.

  • Master Detail Reports on the same page

    hi experts. i need your assistance in one issue...
    i have a master detail reports in one page. Master report displays all the products and details report shows their orders...
    what i want is, when user clicks on products graph its detail graph show the orders of that particular record on the same page. Both reports would remain visible on the same page side by side.
    if anyone can help?

    Hi Asif48,
    Just as Visakh suggest, we can add the master data and subreport in the same tablix, then set the visbility of subreport to toggle based on click action of master level row. And add some parameters to filter the related data based on the master report field.
    For more details, please refer to the following steps:
    Create another report as the subreport and insert some fields.
    Create a parameter named Order in the subreport.
    In the main report, right-click to insert a subreport in the column right of the master tablix.
    Right-click the subpeort to open the Subreport Properties, and select the subreport name in the drop-down list.
    In the left panel of the Subreport Properties dialog box, click Visibility.
    Select Hide option, and select Product (master level row) to display the subreport to be toggled by the Product report item.
    In the left panel of the Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters.
    Select Order in the drop-down list of Name, and select [Product] (use the related filed name) in the drop-down list of Value.
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to let me know.

  • Master (Multi Records) Detail Report (Help Required)

    We need Help for Master Detail Report that returns information for all departments and their employees. e.g.
    Page-1
    master Record: Accounts Depts Detail
    Detail Record: Accounts Empoyees Detail
    Page-2
    Master: Department-2 Detail
    Detail: Department-2 Employees Detail
    We are using Apex3.1
    Best Regards
    Jazib

    Hi,
    Changing the Detail part of the page to show all employees in all departments for a city wouldn't be too difficult. The main issue, I think, would be the page structure as, presumably would need to create new departments somewhere and, perhaps, add employees directly into that department?
    For example, if you have a DEPT/EMP master/detail pair of pages, when you click on a department on the report page, the top of the form page would show the department you have selected rather than the city for that department. You could change this to show the city instead, but where would you create new departments?
    Assuming that you can work through that, I should be able to explain how to have a detail form that handles multiple departments.

  • Master-detail reports with variable number of pages in a big report

    I am designing with Reports 6.0.5.32.0 a master-detail report such as a
    combination between a customer with his name, address etc, at the top of
    the page (always 60% of the first page) and then as details lines with his orders.
    For one customer seems relatively OK with the variable number of pages in accordance with the number of his orders.
    When the main query finds more customers I present always the customer at the top of
    a new page (that's easy), but how can I control the number of the next pages for the orders, variable for every customer.
    I can not predict how many pages are necessary for a customer and white pages are
    not desirable. When the number of Max. Vertical Body Pages is too low I can get the next pages for every customer, but appears an
    uncontrollable shift to the left.
    For instance, a customer with 40 orders needs 3 pages, one with 4 orders only 1 page, one with 15 orders 2 pages, etc.
    What's the magic property for a secure and precise layout?

    Hi Andreas,
    did you try setting vertical spacing to expand or variable on master repeating frame (and posible other frames surrounding master repeating frame)?
    Hope this helps

  • Master detail report/form FK problem

    Anyone...anybody!!!
    I'm using APEX 4.0.1... and Oracle 10g.
    I have two tables that are linked with FK in the detail table
    Master table
    ID_ENDURGR     NUMBER --PK populated with a trigger
    KT_UMSAEKJANDI     VARCHAR2(10 BYTE)
    TIMABIL     NUMBER
    NUMER_UMSOKN     NUMBER
    HEILDARKOSTNADUR     NUMBER
    Detail table
    ID_EIGENDUR     NUMBER --PK populated with a trigger
    KENNITALA     VARCHAR2(10 BYTE)
    EIGNARHLUTI     NUMBER
    KOSTNADUR_VINNA     NUMBER
    ENDURGR_ID_FK     NUMBER -- FK on ID_ENDURGR in the master table
    If I create a application with a master detail page using the wizard, pages with a report and a tabular form are created. This works fine and the FK field in the detail table is automatically populated with the PK from the master table.
    If I create an application with a blank page an on that page create a region > form > master detail > same tables >use existing triggers > default > Edit detail on separate page ... three new pages are created: Report, master form and a detail form.
    If I create a new detail record with this application the FK field is not automatically populated.
    Why? What am I doing wrong?
    The trigger on the detail table:
    create or replace
    TRIGGER "bi_RSK_541_EIGENDUR"
    before insert on "RSK_1018_EIGENDUR"
    for each row
    begin
    if :new."ID_EIGENDUR" is null then
    select "RSK_541_EIGENDUR_SEQ".nextval into :new."ID_EIGENDUR" from dual;
    end if;
    end;
    Do I need to add something here... or what?
    Please help.

  • Using stored procedures in master / detail report?

    hi all,
    i've created stored procedures for when inserting records into my tables.
    when using it in my master, i created a pl/sql process and just call out my procedure passing all the item values... how do i do this on the detail report?
    thanks

    i attempted to use the following pl/sql code in a pl/sql process.
    begin
      for i in 1..apex_application.g_f01.count
      loop
        apc_user_pkg.update_user_role ( p_user_role_id     => apex_application.g_f02(i)

                                       ,x_last_updated_by  => apex_application.g_f10(i) );
      end loop;
    end;however, it doesn't seem to be working properly.. it doesn't update the table.. after the page refreshes, the old data comes back and not the new one.
    what am i doing wrong?

  • Master detailed report

    Hi all,
    In OBIEE 11g I want to create a master report with employer number and other high level information, and when I click on the employer number I should be able to view another report which shows employer information in detailed level.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Master Detail Report for PDF Printing

    Dear All,
           While trying to create a master detail report using Oracle APEX 4.2 and BI Publisher. I tried creating report queries and report layout following the below mentioned steps.
    CREATE TYPE emp_row AS OBJECT (
      EMPNO NUMBER(4),
      ENAME VARCHAR2(10),
      JOB VARCHAR2(9),
      MGR NUMBER(4),
      HIREDATE DATE,
      SAL NUMBER(7,2),
      COMM NUMBER(7,2)
    CREATE TYPE emp_tab AS TABLE OF emp_row;
    CREATE TYPE dept_row AS OBJECT (
      DEPTNO NUMBER(2),
      DNAME VARCHAR2(14),
      LOC VARCHAR2(13),
      EMP_LIST emp_tab
    SELECT SYS_XMLAGG (
      SYS_XMLGEN(
      dept_row(
      d.deptno, d.dname, d.loc,
      CAST(MULTISET(SELECT e.empno, e.ename, e.job, e.mgr, e.hiredate, e.sal, e.comm
      FROM emp e
      WHERE e.deptno = d.deptno) AS emp_tab)
      SYS.XMLGENFORMATtYPE.createFormat('DEPT')
      ) AS "XML_QUERY"
    FROM dept d
    WHERE d.deptno = 10;
    Though the above steps generates xml output while trying to generate in APEX it says unsupported datatype. Tried using DBMS_LOB as well no luck. Any inputs will be quite helpful. Should there be any other way to incorporate master detail report printing in APEX kindly advise.

    Thanks Kiran for your prompt response. Regards
    Ahmed
        Well the problem lies here:
    SELECT SYS_XMLAGG (
      SYS_XMLGEN(
      dept_row(
      d.deptno, d.dname, d.loc,
      CAST(MULTISET(SELECT e.empno, e.ename, e.job, e.mgr, e.hiredate, e.sal, e.comm
      FROM emp e
      WHERE e.deptno = d.deptno) AS emp_tab)
      SYS.XMLGENFORMATtYPE.createFormat('DEPT')
      ) AS "XML_QUERY"
    FROM dept d
    WHERE d.deptno = 10;
        The Report Query itself generates XML data (in the required BI Publisher format). So, no need to generate it like this.
        As you are using table functions your query should be of the type:
    SELECT EMPNO
                , ENAME
                , JOB
                , MGR
                , HIREDATE
                , SAL
                , COMM
        FROM TABLE ( EMP_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEES ( :PXX_DEPTNO ))
        where EMP_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEES is packaged table function which returns the Object Table of type EMP_TAB mentioned above.
        When you test the above Report Query with sample DEPTNO, it will generate the sample XML, which you can use to generate Report Layout in RTF format using BI Publisher Desktop.
        Hope this helps!
    Regards,
    Kiran
