Using stored procedures in master / detail report?

hi all,
i've created stored procedures for when inserting records into my tables.
when using it in my master, i created a pl/sql process and just call out my procedure passing all the item values... how do i do this on the detail report?
thanks
allen

hi,
i'm back.. :)
i attempted to use the following pl/sql code in a pl/sql process.
begin
  for i in 1..apex_application.g_f01.count
  loop
    apc_user_pkg.update_user_role ( p_user_role_id     => apex_application.g_f02(i)
                                   ,p_start_on         => apex_application.g_f05(i)
                                   ,p_end_on           => apex_application.g_f06(i)
                                   ,x_last_updated_on  => apex_application.g_f09(i)
                                   ,x_last_updated_by  => apex_application.g_f10(i) );
  end loop;
end;however, it doesn't seem to be working properly.. it doesn't update the table.. after the page refreshes, the old data comes back and not the new one.
what am i doing wrong?

allen

    Hi Amol,
    Are you able to execute your stored procedure from oracle?.
    - If "Yes" then use  the Crystal Report XIR2 Designer to create the report.
    - Import this report in the Crystal Report For Eclipse Workbench.
    - The latest version for Crystal Report For Eclipse is SP1.
    Please let me know the results.
    Thanks,

  • Sub report using Stored Procedure returns incorrect data

    Guys,
    I am using CR 9 in ASP.net application.
    One simple report and one Sub report, sub report is basically linked with Stored procedure accepting one parameter and returns a select query.
    Main report is linked with that sub report using that parameter field.
    Sub report is on demand sub report.
    Now when I execute that main report and click on on demand sub report I am getting Wrong order information.
    Here is out put on main report
    Order 1                                          on demandDetail
    Order 2                                          on demandDetail
    Order 3                                          on demandDetail
         NOW If I click on Order 3 (On demanddetail link, it displays rondom order details, some time correct on too), I am really stuck and don't know where I am going wrong.
    Please help me to solve this issues.
    Many Thanks

    Hi Yangster,
    Thank you so much for your reply.
    On DEMAND Sub report is located in main report, IN DETAIL SECTION
    I am passing Order ID from main report linked to  {?morderid} in subreport under command object, and if I run it in design mode, it works perfectly alright, so problem is isolated to ASP.NET and Crystal report post back method on Crystal report.
    The example I give to you this is a simple example to identify issues in my real application and report.
    My main report contains summary of data base on unique identifier. that summary have 4 differant types of details which has to be on the same report (as Crystal report doesn't provide Nested subreport), so I decided to use 4 subreports on main report and all subreport using Stored procedure command object.(Sub report has it own complex processing requirement to fulfill).
    Please help me with any further ideas? for the sample which I presented to you this is only using one SP on main report with a simple processing.
    Many Thanks

    Hi all
    Why Dynamic Parameter is not working, when i create report XI using stored procedure ?
    Only i shaw those parameters which i used in my stored procedure, the parameter which i create dynamic using stored procedure
    is not shown to me when i referesh the report for viewing the results.
    I have used the same procedure which i mention below but can not seen the last screen which is shown in this .
    ============================================================================================
    1. Select View > Field Explorer2. Right-click on Parameter Fields and select New from the right-click menu.3. Enter u201CCustomer Nameu201D as the name for your parameter4. Under u201CList of Valuesu201D select u201CDynamicu201D5. Under the Value column, click where is says u201Cclick here to add itemu201D and select Customer Name from the drop-down list. The dialog shown now look like the one shown below in Figure 1. Click OK to return to your report design.
    Dynamic Parameter Setup6. Next, select Report > Select Expert, select the Customer Name field and click OK.7. Using the drop-down list beside select u201CIs Equal Tou201D and using the drop-down list, select your parameter field (it should be the first field). 8. Click OK to return to your report design and see the parameter dialog.The parameter dialog will appear and show you a dynamic list of values that is updated each time your run your report. It couldnu2019t be easier! In our next tutorial, we will be looking at how to use this feature to create cascading parameter fields, where the values are filtered by the preceding selection.
    Dynamic Parameters in Action
    My question is that whether dynamic parameter is working with storedprocedure or not.
    When i added one table and try to fetch records using dyanmic prameters. after that i am not be able to find the dynamic parameter option when i referesh my report.
    One more thing when i try the static parameter for my report, the option i see when i referesh the screen.
    Please reply soon , it's urgent

    Hi Kishore,
    I have tested the issue step by step by following you description, while the first issue works well in my local environment. Based on my research, this can be caused by the lookup expression or it indeed return Male value based on the logic. If you use the
    expression below, it will indeed only return the Male record. So please try to double-check the record in the two datasets and the expression in your environment:
    =lookup(first(Fields!ProgramID.Value,"DataSet1"),Fields!ProgramID.Value,Fields!Gender.Value,"DataSet2")
    As to the second issue, please try to use the following expression:
    =Count(Lookup(fields!ProgramID.value,fields!ProgramID.value,fields!Gender.value,"DataSet2"))
    Besides, if this issue still exist, in order to trouble shoot this issue more efficiently, could you please post both the .rdl  file with all the size properties to us by the following E-mail address?  It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

  • Crystal report XI - problem to use stored procedure

    When I add a stored procedure in my new report I can't see my argument (parameter). I don't know if I forget something.
    I use an Oracle database and My procedure is :
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE Rech_Objet_Dans_Vue (pNomVue VARCHAR2, pTexteVueContient VARCHAR2) AS
    --Date de création: 6 mars 2008
    --Utilisateur: turgema01
    --Procédure créée dans le but de faire une recherche dans le texte d'une vue qui est de type LONG. Comme il n'est pas possible d'effectuer
    --    une fonction sur un champ de type long, nous utilisons cette procédure pour sortir les noms des vues contenant notre critère de recherche
    -- Exemple d'utilisation : EXECUTE Rech_Objet_Dans_Vue('DEC%', '%GAC_PROJ_LOGIC%')
    -- Nous donnera le nom des vues dont le nom de la vue est comme ''dec% et dont le texte de la vue contient '%gac_proj_logic%'
    TYPE TYP_REF_CUR IS REF CURSOR ;
    CVUE TYP_REF_CUR ;
    -- Variables de réception du contenu de la requête
    TEXTlongTOchar VARCHAR2(32767);
    NomVue ALL_VIEWS.view_name%TYPE ;
    BEGIN
      OPEN CVUE FOR 'Select view_name, TEXT From all_views WHERE OWNER = ''FMDTEST'' AND view_name LIKE '''|| pNomVue ||'''';
       LOOP
         FETCH CVUE INTO NomVue,TEXTlongTOchar ;
      --TEXTlongTOchar := SUBSTR(TEXTlongTOchar, 1, 254); Inutile d'afficher le code de la vue puisque qu'on ne peut afficher plus de 254 caractères
      IF TEXTlongTOchar LIKE pTexteVueContient THEN
         DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE (NomVue);
      END IF;
       EXIT WHEN CVUE%NOTFOUND;
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE CVUE;
    END;

    It's been a while since I've looked at Oracle stored procedures, but I recall specifying a cursor in the first argument, from which Crystal retrieves the data.
    Subsequent parameters are used to pass data into the stored proc, and should be exposed in the designer.
    Example that I have:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE vantech IS
        TYPE cursor_weak   IS REF CURSOR;
        TYPE cursor_strong IS REF CURSOR RETURN tueda2%ROWTYPE;
    END vantech;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE tueda2_sp_strong (
        tueda2_cursor IN OUT vantech.cursor_strong,
        tueda2_id    IN      tueda2.id%TYPE ) AS
    BEGIN
        OPEN tueda2_cursor FOR
            SELECT *
            FROM tueda2
            WHERE tueda2.id >= tueda2_id;
    END tueda2_sp_strong;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE tueda2_sp_weak (
        tueda2_cursor IN OUT vantech.cursor_weak,
        tueda2_id    IN      tueda2.id%TYPE ) AS
    BEGIN
        OPEN tueda2_cursor FOR
            SELECT *
            FROM tueda2
            WHERE tueda2.id >= tueda2_id;
    END tueda2_sp_weak;

  • Using Stored Procedure Universe in Reports

    Hi Friends,
    I got some issues using SP's in Universe and WebI Report.
    Case #1:
    Can we execute dynamic SQL using stored procedure universe..?
    I use SQL server as the DB for my reports.I created a SP which will execute on getting a input value from the user.This input value will frame the SQL dynamically in the SP.for executing the dynamic SQL i use sp_executesql inside the SP.The SP wexecutes successfuly in the DB but when i try executing it in the Universe i get a error message as follows: "Exception : DBD,[Microsoft][SQL SErver Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax  nesr 'FROM'.State:42000"
    The script i used for creating SP for your reference:
    CREATE PROCEDURE P_S_GetCodeValueList
              @s_table nvarchar(75)
    as
    begin
              declare @s_sqlCommand nvarchar(1000)
              declare @s_tablename nvarchar(75)
              declare @s_code nvarchar(75)
              set @s_tablename=@s_table
              set @s_code = '*'
              set @s_sqlCommand= 'SELECT ' + @s_code + ' FROM ' + @s_tablename
              exec sp_executesql @s_sqlCommand
    end
    Case #2:
    AIl also tried creating reports using the SP Universe which needs to get the parameter when the user refesh the report.
    But every time the report is refreshed the report fetches the data which was produced when the SP is executed in the Universe for the first time.
    I need to get the prompt in the report , to which the user could give a value and the SP gets executed for that value.
    Is there any option in BO to do this?
    It will be very helpful if you could give me some work arounds on this.
    Regards,
    Sugumar

    Hi Sugumar,
    I can answer you for your 2nd question:
    When you create the Stored procedure in the Universe and test it on retreiving data by inserting variable input you can check if the user could insert new value for the SP parameters.
    Hope this helps!

  • Master Detail Report using Report Query

    I am using APEX Report Query component to try and create a mater/detail report with BI plug-in. The Report Queries doesn't give you mush flexibility as each query is independent of the other. I'm trying to see if I need to create 2 queries or 1 AND what option would let me create a master detail report like so in BI Desktop:
    Employee: Bob ID:100 Dept: HR
    Jobs
    Job 1
    Job 2
    Job 3
    Employee: Tom ID:200 Dept: ACCt
    Jobs
    Job 1
    Job 2
    Job 3
    Option1.
    I could combine the Employee Job info with the Employee info, but that would report the Employee info for every Employee Job. I didn't think that was good.
    <Rowset1_Row>
    <EMPID>
    <NAME>
    <DEPT>
    <JOB>
    </Rowset1_Row>
    Option 2.
    I could create 2 queries. The 1st getting all of the Empoyee info. The 2nd getting all of the Employee jobs.
    <Rowset1_Row>
    <EMPID>
    <NAME>
    <DEPT>
    <JOB>
    </Rowset1_Row>
    <Rowset2_Row>
    <EMPID>
    <JOB>
    </Rowset2_Row>
    <Rowset2_Row>
    <EMPID>
    <JOB>
    </Rowset2_Row>
    Any advice?

  • How to use dynamic parameter when a report is created using Stored Procedures

    Hi all,
    any one have the idea of how to use dynamic parameter in crystal report XI R2
    when report is created using Stored Procedure.
    Regards
    shashi kant chauhan

    Hi
    You can create an SQL command in Database Expert > Expand your datasource > Add command
    Then enter the SQL query that will create the list of values to supply to the user
    eg select field1,field2 from table
    Then edit the parameter of the report.  These will be the SP parameters adn can be seen in field explorer.
    Change the parameter type to Dynamic
    Under the word Value click on Click here to add item
    Scroll down to your Command and select one of the values that you want to appear in the list
    e.g field1
    Then click on the Parameters field - this is essential to create the param
    You can edit other options as required
    That should do it for you.
    I must say that i use CR 2008 connected to Oracle 10g SP, but i reckon this will work for SQL DB and CR XI as well
    Best of luck

  • SSRS adhoc (2005/2008) - Need to create Report Model (.smdl file) for adhoc using Stored procedure

    Hi All,
    I need to create Report Models using stored procedures. But whenever I am going to create data sources for same, I am just getting tables and views to use. Please see the screenshot below:
    Is there any way out to create data source based on stored procedure? Please help.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Kumud

    Hi Kumud,
    As per my understanding, it is not support to create a Datasource View (DSV) using stored procedures.
    In a DataSource View, only views, tables or named queries can be used. We can use stored procedures in a query. No parameterized queries, parameterized stored procedures or parameterized UDFs can be used in a DSV named query. You can try to using below approach
    to achieve what you are require:
    To build views in our relational source and add the views to the datasource view to proceed with modelling.
    There is a similar issue, you can refer to it.

  • IN Operator Parameter using stored procedure

    Hi Guys,
    I'm running a reporting services report using stored procedure and I'm facing a dilemma with the IN Operator in the stored procedure.
    Can someone please help me out debugging the statement below? (run it on AdventureWorks Database)
    Can I have the @Title Parameter based on another select statement something like this
    Set @Title = SELECT Title FROM TableTitle
    DECLARE @Title varchar(1000)
    set @Title = 'Design Engineer', 'Tool Designer', 'Marketing Assistant'
    SELECT FirstName, LastName, e.Title
    FROM HumanResources.Employee AS e
    JOIN Person.Contact AS c
    ON e.ContactID = c.ContactID
    WHERE e.Title IN (@Title)
    Appreciate all the help on this.
    Thank you
    John

    Hi John,
    For your problem, we can use dynamical statement to solve the issue.
    Here are 2 options to be clarified:
             1. A multi-value parameter will return an array value.
             2. It is not able to pass an array in a stored procedure.
    To solve the issue, we can use the following steps:
    1.              Cconvert the array into string that delimited by “,” using the function “Join” in SQL Server Reporting Services.
    2.              Pass the string in the stored procedure.
    3.              Combine the parameter and the statement into one simply string.
    4.              Execute the simply string.
    Here are the detailed steps for your reference:
    1.       In Report Designer, create a new dataset as “SELECT Title FROM TableTitle”.
    2.       Create a new multi-value parameter, set the available value from the dataset above.
    3.       Set the query of the main dataset as :
    ="spSelect_Title "&Join(Parameters!para.Value, ",")
    4.       Change the stored procedure as:
    ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[spSelect_Title]
             -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here
             --@Query NVarchar(Max),
             @Title NVarchar(MAX)
    AS
    BEGIN
             -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from
             -- interfering with SELECT statements.
             SET NOCOUNT ON;
             DECLARE @Query Varchar(Max)
             SET @Query = 'SELECT FirstName, LastName, e.Title
             FROM HumanResources.Employee AS e
             JOIN Person.Contact AS c
             ON e.ContactID = c.ContactID
             WHERE e.Title IN (' + @Title+ ')'
    --       PRINT ' QUERY = '+ ISNULL(@Query,'NULL')
             Execute sp_executesql @Query
    END
    If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Master Detail Report for PDF Printing

    Dear All,
           While trying to create a master detail report using Oracle APEX 4.2 and BI Publisher. I tried creating report queries and report layout following the below mentioned steps.
    CREATE TYPE emp_row AS OBJECT (
      EMPNO NUMBER(4),
      ENAME VARCHAR2(10),
      JOB VARCHAR2(9),
      MGR NUMBER(4),
      HIREDATE DATE,
      SAL NUMBER(7,2),
      COMM NUMBER(7,2)
    CREATE TYPE emp_tab AS TABLE OF emp_row;
    CREATE TYPE dept_row AS OBJECT (
      DEPTNO NUMBER(2),
      DNAME VARCHAR2(14),
      LOC VARCHAR2(13),
      EMP_LIST emp_tab
    SELECT SYS_XMLAGG (
      SYS_XMLGEN(
      dept_row(
      d.deptno, d.dname, d.loc,
      CAST(MULTISET(SELECT e.empno, e.ename, e.job, e.mgr, e.hiredate, e.sal, e.comm

      SYS.XMLGENFORMATtYPE.createFormat('DEPT')
      ) AS "XML_QUERY"
    FROM dept d
    WHERE d.deptno = 10;
    Though the above steps generates xml output while trying to generate in APEX it says unsupported datatype. Tried using DBMS_LOB as well no luck. Any inputs will be quite helpful. Should there be any other way to incorporate master detail report printing in APEX kindly advise.

I tried following the steps already using this link (How To Create a Master-Detail PDF Report) somehow the detail record was not getting processed perhaps was trying to generate xml data using the above query. Any other reference will be highly appreciated.

        Well the problem lies here:
    SELECT SYS_XMLAGG (
      SYS_XMLGEN(
      dept_row(
      d.deptno, d.dname, d.loc,
      CAST(MULTISET(SELECT e.empno, e.ename, e.job, e.mgr, e.hiredate, e.sal, e.comm
      FROM emp e
      WHERE e.deptno = d.deptno) AS emp_tab)
      SYS.XMLGENFORMATtYPE.createFormat('DEPT')
      ) AS "XML_QUERY"
    FROM dept d
    WHERE d.deptno = 10;
        The Report Query itself generates XML data (in the required BI Publisher format). So, no need to generate it like this.
        As you are using table functions your query should be of the type:
    SELECT EMPNO
                , ENAME
                , JOB
                , MGR
                , HIREDATE
                , SAL
                , COMM
        FROM TABLE ( EMP_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEES ( :PXX_DEPTNO ))
        where EMP_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEES is packaged table function which returns the Object Table of type EMP_TAB mentioned above.
        When you test the above Report Query with sample DEPTNO, it will generate the sample XML, which you can use to generate Report Layout in RTF format using BI Publisher Desktop.
        Hope this helps!

    Kiran

  • A problem when referring to a stored procedure in a crystal report

    Hi all,
    I've checked that when calling one stored-procedure within a crystal report, one sequence will be selected for 2 times. Thus 2 will be added to the corr. sequence No. And I've also directly ran such procedure in 'SQL/Plus' that follows, to make sure that actually the corr. sequence will be referenced by only once.
    SQL> execute p_rpT_FCL_col (:te, 'ZIMU00000537SJU',:GRP)
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> print :te
    TE
    17
    SQL> execute p_rpT_FCL_col (:te2, 'ZIMU00000537SJU',:GRP)
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> print :te2
    TE2
    18

    Well, can you please post the details about your stored proc?

    Question: What do you mean by that? How many times did you run the report?
    More details please.

  • Error while refreshing bqy file on workspace using stored procedure

    Hi,
    I am using stored procedure which returns ref-cursor. The report is running fine locally but on Workspace, while refresh, it gives the following error.
    An Interactive Reporting Service error has occurred.-SQL API: [SQLNumResultCols], SQL RETURN: [-1], SQL STATE: [HY010], SQL NATIVE ERROR: [0], SQL MESSAGE: [[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Function sequence error]

    I have ODBC/ODBC connection set up at BI+ configurator.
    Thanks,

    We also met this issue. Some guy told me this is a Hyperion limitation, is it true? I really need this function in Hyperion:(
