Master Page shows up as 1st Page in PDF

Hi I've created a multi-page form and am using a Master Page for a header & footer. When I preview the PDF, the Master Page is showing up as the first page.
Any idea of what is going wrong here? Any suggestions appreciated.
S

Without seeing the form it's very difficult to say exactly what could be wrong.  It could be that content is larger than the content area defined on the masterpage.  Is it a static or dynamic form?

  • 2 master pages with table data flow

    Hi,
      My form got 2 master pages. Each master page will display atleast once in the output preview. First page displays table data which may or may not flow to the second page depending on the no.of records. But, the form will show both the master pages in pdf preview( even if the second master page is empty).
      Now, I have a field in the both the master pages which will show the total amount. Total amount field will have a value which should be displayed in the first page if the data doesn't flow to the second page. The total should display in the second page if data flows to the second page. Where can I write the condition and how will I know whether the form is flowing to the second page or not? I cannot write based on the pagecount because the output will always contain 2 pages.
    How will I know my table is flowing to the next page or not so that I will write my logic based on it.
    Thanks,
    kc

    Hello Dude,
    Try to find out the field of the table is in which page. If it is in page 2 so u can print the amount there.
    try this script
    for(var i = 0 ; i < xfa.host.numPages ; i++)  // loop uoto total number of pages
      var oFields = xfa.layout.pageContent(i, "field");
      totalfields   =  oFields.length;                    // gives the number of fields in a page
       flag=1;
      for (var nNodeCount = 0; nNodeCount < z; nNodeCount++)  // loop through the fields
             if (oFields.item(nNodeCount).name == "find your table field")   // Here find for that field if it works print maount in that page
    Good Luck

  • Can I set up a master page to show custom alternating footer text dependant on page number?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to set up a master page to show different messages in the footer of a brochure dependant on page number? For example;
    Page 1: Buy from us because...
    Page 2: Our website address is...
    Page 3: Here's a special offer...
    Page 4: Our website address is...
    Page 5: Buy from us because...
    Page 6: Our website address is...
    ...and so on, repeating until the end of the brochure. The intention is for the footers to update automatically if the pagination of the brochure in question needs moving around - or if the messages need changing.
    Thanks!

    Thanks, but the text needs to be on a single master page which every page is assigned to. This is so the text alternates correctly regardless of whether new pages are inserted or moved. If I assigned separate master pages to individual pages and then moved the pages to a different location, the alternating footer text would then fall out of sync. I hope that made sense!

  • Search hover panel not showing up in Internet Explorer with custom master page

    The hover panel is not showing up in internet explorer.  I am using a custom master page and it works no problem in the other browsers.  When I fire up the debugger there is an error message when i hover over a search result item:
    I tried debugging the JavaScript but i am not sure what is going on with it.
    Am I missing reference or something done like that?  It has to be something simple because I have been scratching my head for a while on this.
    Any ideas?
    Brad Wight

    Have you tried rendering the site in IE Compatability Mode?  Compatability Mode solves a lot of problems in this area because older versions of IE had a unique interpretation of HTML code.
    Start here:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-8
    I trust that answers your question...
    Thanks

  • Custom master page is showing inside the dashboard designer

    I have some issues with Dashboard designer, when i am creating a new report ,my custom master page is showing inside the designer. How i can remove this?
    the same issues of this post ->
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/109218/custom-master-page-is-showing-inside-the-dashboard-designer-pps
    Thanks

    But here's a few more things:
    When I click on the page 1, the Master Page view is shown.  When I click on Master Pages, the Master Page view is shown, also when I click on
    untitled Content Area, the Master Page view is shown.  All these made me think that extra page is the Master Page.
    When I look at pagination for page1, here's what there:
    When I click on the (untitledSubform) (page1) pagination, here's what's there
    I can't get this page to go away. Thanks.

  • Master Page elements not showing up on top...

    I'm newer to ID and the industry in general...with no prior experience.  Running CS6 on Windows 8.1.  I have existing documents that were shared with me where the master page elements always appear on top, meaning on top of pages or items placed in a document.  Those items are surrounded by a red dotted line, and I cannot edit those in any way, shape or form.  I am working in a new document and all my master page elements have a blue dotted line and do not show up on top of anything no matter what I do and the option to Arrange isn't there.  I know I must be missing a really simple step, but in all of the videos and tutorials I've read and watched, this has never been addressed.  What am I missing?  See images below (added the green box to show an item on the page showing up on top of the master page stuff.)  Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

    The color is derived from the color code for the layer. You’ll need to go to the master page to edit the items.
    If you that new to ID none of this is intuitive. First, I recommend that you buy Sandee Cohen’s Visual Quick Start Guide. It’s the be beginner book on the market: http://amzn.to/14JHq54

  • Background image of custom master page just shows for 1 second.

    Hi,
    I have created a custom master page from a html code and I have applied to it on my site collection, but when I open it on the web browser the background image just show up for a second or less and then the background turns white.
    I'll aprecciate any suggestions in order to solve this.
    Regards.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that Background image of custom master page just shows for 1 second.
    I recommend to change the class to use .main-content.
    .main-content
    background-color:#F4F2E5;
    background: url('/Style%20Library/Images/image.png');
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-;
    You can also use a contol called cssregistration. Add a line that looks something like this, right below the existing csslink:
    < SharePoint:CssLink runat="server" Version="4" /> (under this you add:)
    < SharePoint:CssRegistration runat="server" name="/Style%20Library/Scripts/style.css" After="coreV4.css" />

  • V4.master page showing error.

    Hi All,
    In SharePoint 2013 I opent the site in Designer 2013 --> In Master Page --> Copy V4.master page and paste it --> Try to do some changes --after that I deleted the new master page v4.master which I've created --> Saved the Old Master Page -->
    Right Click on v4.master --> Clicked on Set as Default master Page & Set as Custom Master Page both.
    But now when I'm opening the site its not opening and showing error "Sorry, something went wrong"

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about the master page.
    For SharePoint 2013, by default it is used the seattle.master as the default master page.
    You can change back to the seattle.master page as the master page, then check whether it works.
    What’s more, you can also use the Version History to restore the v4.master to check whether it works.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Textbox on pasteboard of master page doesn't show up in document page

    Using InDesign CS3 on Windows XP.
    Not sure if this is a problem or if I just need to learn more! I placed a textbox in the pasteboard of a masterpage (I have a long-ish document that I want to provide notes to the user - but they won't print the notes, and they are page-specific notes). When I go to the main document pages, the textbox does not show up unless a portion of it is touching the actual master page. Can this be addressed without just extending the textbox to barely touch the page?

    I think Nitro missed the part about not printing the notes, but his solution may be what you need if the limits on slug dimensions are large enough for you. It's actually something I never thought of before and a potential new way to use the slug.
    Normally the ID pasteboard is spread-specific so there is no "master" pasteboard in the sense that items will show up on all pages, but the slug area is a sort of special case, and if you put something there on the master page it will propagate into the document. You can put anything you want there, and it will be available on any page using that master (though you will have to Ctrl + Shift Click to override and select it).
    Are you putting at least some repetitive information into these notes? If not, why bother with the master frame at all? It is as much work to override it so you can enter new information as it is to just draw a new frame when you need it.
    Another option is to make a base frame for what you want to repeat and put it into a library. You can drag it from the library and place it as many times and wherever you like. A library can be open and objects dragged into different document at the same time, or at different times, too, so it may be more efficient if you re-use the same basic note frame over time.

  • How do I 'assign a higher layer to the object on the master' (page numbers on master) I understand the layer needs to be at the top to show above placed images on pages but how do I do this?

    I've added the page numbers to my master pages. They are displaying on the pages but I have images on the individual pages that are covering the numbers. I understand I need to assign a higher layer to the object but I don't understand how to do that. Please help me? Please explain a simply clearly as possible, I've read other answers but still don't understand. Wish it was as simple as select object, right click, edit layer!
    Many thanks!

    Layers panel;
    Create new layer
    Switch to Master page
    Make sure new layer is on top in the Layers panel, if not drag the layer on top in the Layers panel.
    Select (click once on) that top layer (pen symbol appears behind that layer in the Layer panel)
    Now draw your page numbers etc on the Mastet page
    From now on, select (click once on) any Layer in the Layers panel that is below the layer you used on your Master page items and create new objects in your document pages.
    If you accidently created objects on a 'wrong' layer:
    Select those objects
    You will see a square behind the layers name in the Layers panel
    Click and hold the mouse on that square and drag it behind the name of the layer you want to move the objects to.
    Buy a book about InDesign and start learning these basic principles!

  • My master pages have disappeared from the View menu in Frame Maker and I can't get to them. View does show body pages and reference pages.

    Master pages went missing from my FrameMaker 12 setup about 4 days ago. I can see body and references pages. I have tried reinstalling. The master pages are missing from all of my FrameMaker documents, absolutely all of them. I have done two new installations of FM 12, no fix.

    Does the old shortcut still work? [Esc, v, M plus its close kin Esc, v, R for Reference pages and Esc, v, B for Body pages – all case-sensitive]
    Also, does "missing" mean you select View master pages and get a blank screen? while double-checking the view shortcuts, I discovered this can be replicated by turning off borders [Esc, v, b] in Master page view … if you happen to be using a Master page layout with no header or footer. But I have also, occasionally, ended up with blank master pages even when they should have had content. It's a mystery.

  • Hiding current page only seems to make invisible or shows view of master page?

    I have a button that is as follows:-
    runs a few validation checks blah blah then ......
    else
    this.resolveNode("Page3").presence = "visible";
    xfa.host.currentPage = 3;
    this.resolveNode("Page1").presence = "hidden";
    So on click it goes to page 3 - that's fine, but it only seems to set the current page to invisible, as it leaves behind a blank page/master page to view?
    I have tried to include
    xfa.layout.relayout();
    but this has no effect.
    If i place a similiar button hiding Page1 outside Page1 then there is no problem, it hides and is taken right out of the form as i am hoping with the button sitting inside page1.

    Rick, thanks for thinking of that setting; however, we've already left "Fade Out on the Last Slide" de-selected, so that's not the issue.
    It seems that on the last slide, the "rest of project" objects endure only for the number of seconds of that slide; for example, if a slide's duration is set to 3 seconds, the "rest of project" objects fade away after 3 seconds; however, nothing else on the page fades away; that is, the images and captions set to "rest of slide" continue to display.

  • Show/hide /print element on multiple master pages

    Hi again,
    I'm continuing to have a problem with something that should be simple but I can't figure out.
    I have a large form.
    On one of the pages there's a button that says 'is there a non disclosure order in place' - radio button with yes/no.
    If the user selects 'yes' I want the words 'non disclosure' to appear on all my pages.
    I've gone about this by creating a text field (non editable) on each master page. It's down at the bottom middle and doesn't interfer with any other element. I've called each of these fields 'nonDis'
    Radzmar and Josh Geurian have been brilliant in helping me but I'm still not quite getting it.
    Back to the page that the radio buttons are on...
    On the click scripting event I have this code:
    var mp = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.CoreMaster[*].nonDis");
    var mp2 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.COREMASTER2[*].nonDis");
    var mp3 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.INFORMATIONSHARING[*].nonDis");
    var mp4 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.CHRONOLOGY[*].nonDis");
    var mp5 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.NATPRACTICEMODEL[*].nonDis");
    var mp6 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.ASSESSMENT[*].nonDis");
    var mp7 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.PLAN[*].nonDis");
    var mp8 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.REVIEW[*].nonDis");
    var mp9 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.PLAN2[*].nonDis");
    var mp10 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.SUMMARYESSENTIALINFO[*].nonDis");
    var mp11 = xfa.resolveNodes("#pageSet.OPEN[*].nonDis");
    for (var i = 0; i < mp10.length; i += 1) {
         mp10.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp11.length; i += 1) {
         mp11.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp.length; i += 1) {
         mp.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp2.length; i += 1) {
         mp2.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp3.length; i += 1) {
         mp3.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp4.length; i += 1) {
         mp4.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp5.length; i += 1) {
         mp5.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp6.length; i += 1) {
         mp6.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp7.length; i += 1) {
         mp7.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp8.length; i += 1) {
         mp8.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    for (var i = 0; i < mp9.length; i += 1) {
         mp9.item(i).presence = this.rawValue != "No" ? "visible" : "hidden";
    I've referenced each of the nonDis text fields individually but only the fileds in the master pages: CoreMaster, COREMASTER2, SUMMARYESSENTIALINFO and OPEN work. Despite their ordering in the code they happen to be the first four master pages that are used in order in the document. The actual order is: OPEN, SUMMARYESSENTIALINFO, CoreMaster, COREMASTER2 - these are then followed by INFORMATIONSHARING and contine down the list in order.
    I should mention that each nonDis field appears on the top level of each of the master pages (ie. not in a sub form). I have a feeling it's something perhaps to do with my above code maybe not being succint enough - or there being a better way to write it. It could also perhaps be something to do with the transition between the last page that does work (using COREMASTER2 masterpage) to the first one that doesn't (using INFORMATIONSHARING master page).
    There is also another big issue in that as soon as I click the print button all the nonDis fields revert back to their opening state of invisible and they stay that way despite the radio button remaining selected on 'Yes' - if i toggle yes/no they reappear on screen, but again disappear when printing. I can't let this happen as the form is meant to be printed.
    So please help... this is (I think) the last piece of the puzzle in a project that has taken months. If there's anything else I can provide you with to help please just ask.

    Hi Radzmar,
    Almost there... I think!
    It worked up to a point. As soon as I click/toggle yes/no the nonDis field does indeed appear on each and every page. However as soon as I send to print they all disappear.
    Doing a few tests it's because of several causes (I think). I have a number of tables which can grow when the user adds info (in fact most text fields have this ability). Also, I have text fields full of information for the user which I have scripted to disappear when sending to print (so the printed form contains user data rather than pages of background info). Finally I have a whole section whose content alters radically depending on which department the user belongs to.
    I've noticed that as soon as a page expands to effectively create another page the nonDis field disappears again (the radio button remains selected as 'Yes') - so my gut feeling is that the code above works only if the page count remains the same. Doing more tests I can see that as soon as even one text field adds another page to the form the nonDis disappears again.
    Finally, I've also done a test on my clean form - with only the radio button, the nonDis field (on a master page) and a text field and if I set this box to flowed and expand the height as soon as the field goes beyond the page to create another page the nonDis disappears once again even though the button remains as 'yes'
