"Master" page/template on Dreamweaver

Is there a way to create a "master page" on Dreamweaver as you would on Indesign?  I have multiple pages with the same headder containing picture and text elements, but I plan to periodically change the headder elements on all pages.  Is there a way to create a template such that when I change picture and text elements on the template these changes will apply to all pages of my site?

You can I am sure, use a template for what you want to do although, I have never done so.
I thought that I might just let you know about server side includes.  What happens with these is that you can separate individual components of your page into their own files and then call each part into your page.  So you can develop a page, then cut n' paste the header into a separate file and call it in the page with a small piece of code:
<?php include("header.html"); ?>
You can have as many pages as you like with the same header and all you need to do is add that bit of code (if you're using PHP) to those pages.  When you want to edit the header, you find the header file and chip away at it.
You could have a SSI file for your header, footer and sidebar if you like or all comon components of your site.  There are a few things you need to watch out for but if you google it you will find heaps of information on how to do it.

  • Master Page Template problems

1.)    I have a problem with the Master Page Template when I place a Back to Top link at the bottom of the page of the Master and then generate or publish my product the link only works at the higher level. If pages in the product are under a folder or if the pages are in a different book the link does not work. I’m using the # for the Back to Top link.
2.)    Another problem with the Master if you place a See Also Button on the master page you are limited on your project pages as to what you placed in the links on the Master Page. In other words if I have a project that has 30 pages and 10 chapters and I want the link to jump to chapter 3 page 5 and I only palced the 10 chapter links in the Master See Also Button I can not change the link under the See Also Button on chapter 3 page 5 with out it breaking the link to the Master Page. Is what has to be done Is place a See Also Button on each and evey page and edit the links in each and every one.
3.)    Breadcrumb trail links. Why in the Design view you can not change the Breadcrumb trail links to above a graphics header if you have placed on your Master Page? If others are having problems with this just go into the HTML and place the breadcrumb section in your header section. You may have to play around with the formating of your styles to get it just right.

    codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
That says that anything outside of that area can't be modified, right?
Nope. It says anything outside that area is editable, i.e., it's treated as an editable region.  This is the default behavior for a DW template and it allows you to place server scripting or javascript code above the <html> tag, or below the </html> tag in any child page.
Unless you are using server scripting, or are very advanced in your use of DW, you should never mess with this default setting.

  • Is there a "master page" in contribute?

I created a website in a basic software program, and now edit/manage it using Adobe Contribute. I want to update the side bar table with all the links for the site, and this obviously needs to take affect on ALL pages; not just one. Is there a "master page" that I can edit particular items that are on all pages at once or do I have to edit every single page individually?

Contribute by itself has no such "master page", you'll have to make this change manually page by page for every page affected. If you use Contribute in combination with Dreamweaver, you could set up a master page - or in Dreamweaver terminology a ".dwt template" to make this possible. The actual change of the template, however, would still have to be done in Dreamweaver and not Contribute.

  • Create a custom Master Page in SharePoint Foundation 2013

    Hi,
I am new to SharePoint foundation.
I am trying to create a custom master page and save it as template, so that i can use it for all other sub sites. But i don't know where to start. Also i tries searching in Google, i got results for share point and not for share point foundation.
So, Please give me a step by step procedure or a link to step by step procedure on how to create a master page, save it as template and use it for a sub site.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gowtham R

Few points to note related to SharePoint Master page:
You don't need to create master page template. If you deploy your master page in site collection level you can reuse the same master page in subsites without copying again and again, rather just by referencing
You have not mentioned how you are going to deploy your master page. If you have any Visual Studio (VS) solution already, try to add your  master page in the VS solution and deploy your master page (and other branding components) as SharePoint WSP
    solution.
Deploying master page will not activate the master page, you need to use some kind of 'Web Level Feature' to activate your branding - the feature will basically set the master page property of SharePoint site to your custom master page.
Please follow the links below for steps by steps instructions (and you will find many just by googling 'sharepoint master page visual studio'):

  • How to Copy FrameMaker Master Pages to all files in a book?

    Newbie question.
I've created a Master page template for a title page that I now want to apply to every file in my collection of books (~5 books, +30 files).  How do I do this?
The page has a full page image and different margins.
I would try to brute force (manually recreate it in every file) but it is nearly a fluke that I managed to get it right to begin with.
I see there is a way to import reference pages--what about master pages?
    Thanks!
    Katherine

Katherine, are you wanting to import just a single master page (e.g. one called "Title"), but not the Left/Right default pages,  to all the other docs?
that's difficult to do in FM's dialogs because (as you may have found already) you can't choose specific master page(s)  to import, it's an all-or-nothing import.
Also, it helps us if you specify what version of FM, including the "pxxx" numbers as shown in Help > About, that always helps folks answer more precisely if there are variations among versions.

  • Copying master pages between documents.

I Am laying out a book with 36 chapters and I formatted my master page and completed Chapter One.  Chapter Two is a new document and I want to carry over Master-A to each successive one.  I believe there must be a way to do it, but nothing I have tried works.  I am using Windows 7 and InDesign 5.5, version 7.5.

I created a new master page template and added my first chapter to it.  Everything except the chapter title from the master page footer appeared on the pages.  I went to the master pages and deleted the chapter title and then replaced it and reapplied the master to all pages.  The chapter title still did not come up on the document pages.

  • Created a New Master Page

I have created a new Master Page for my Sharepoint Online site and the design works great, Except when I try to add a new app.
When I go to Site Contents > Add an app and do a search for eg a list it comes up blank, but when I do back to default master page they all appear perfectly. Is there something that I need to put into the new Master Page to allow for these Apps to appear?
I followed this guide to create the Master Page
    http://www.microsofttechnology.net/2013/09/branding-sharepoint-2013-online-custom_19.html
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Yes Since you have changed the master page those options would not be available. If you try this on a different site collection where you haven't set the master page it would work perfectly fine. Even if you have set a master page on a site and you create
a sub site under that site collection then it wont be available to you because it comes with the default master page templates. The only way to achieve this is by resetting the default master page( or selecting the other template available
in change the look of website option) or by hiring a SharePoint developer who can create a similar site content page and options of lists and libraries for you or inherit it from the master page code.
If you find this information helpful then please propose this as an answer and vote.
    Thanks.

  • Dreamweaver "master pages"?

Does Dreamweaver support "master pages" similar to the "master pages" used in Flash/WIX web sites? The "master pages" on WIX ensure that not all content linked to the page loads when you pull up the master page. The associated pages only load when you click on them. My sister is a photographer currently using WIX, and she wants her web site to load as fast as it can. Any replies/suggestions will be much appreciated!

Yeah, they use Visual Studio.NET in IT to do the programming
of the site template, and then we've always used Dreamweaver to
edit the static content in each page.
When you open up a 2.0 .aspx page in DW CS3, it shows the
content that's inside the <asp:Content> tags, so they are
editable. (In DW 8, the same <asp:Content> get completely
ignored, so CS3 did bring with it some new .NET 2.0 compatibility.)
When I said 'compile', I know that Dreamweaver doesn't do it
itself, but it requests the server to put the page together and
send it back, so that in Design view you can see the programmed
portions of the page. It works like this with our current .NET 1.1
template. It seems like it would work the same way with the 2.0
    pages--as it is, Dreamweaver
is successfully telling the server to process the page, but
then DW is interrupting that process. I'm wondering what would
happen if that interruption (the "MMDW:success" comment) could be
removed. We did a Google search, but came up with nothing relevant.
We're using the Design View (and the "Live Data" feature)
because we deal with pages that have a lot of bilingual text, which
is harder to edit and format in Code view. (Plus my
co-worker/supervisor is a WYSIWYG person.) We wouldn't be using DW
to program in .NET. Our programmers seem to think Master pages are
the new hip thing (they're already using them in their own portions
of our web site), so we're trying to figure out how that is going
    to affect us Dreamweaver users.
    Thanks,

    Ok,
go to page panel, and select all page that you want to apply a mater page items, mouse right click select Apply Master to Pages

  • Problems when Creating Pages from Templates in Dreamweaver 8

When creating new pages from templates in Dreamweaver 8(Ver
8.0.2). The full path for images is not created
i.e. in template the code is <img src="main_page_logo.png"
    width="814" height="172" longdesc="Main Page Logo" />
In the new file the code should be :-
    <img src="../../Templates/main_page_logo.png" width="814"
    height="172" longdesc="Main Page Logo" />
    but only :-
    <img src="main_page_logo.png" width="814" height="172"
longdesc="Main Page Logo" /> is in the code.
but this does work in Version 8.0.
Does anyone know of a setting or fix for this problem

    > Does anyone know of a setting or fix for this problem
It was regarded as a bug in previous versions, and was fixed
    in the 8.0.2
release. In normal circumstances, ALL links in a template
    file must be
relative to the template document, not relative to where you
    intend to save
the child pages. Thus, there would be no way to have a link
    in your
template document like the first one you show, e.g.,
    <img src="whatever.png"....
*unless* the file was actually in the Templates folder (a bad
    idea).
In 8.0.2, you can set your PREFERENCES for the Templates
    category to NOT
MANAGE relative links. Be aware that this may have unintended
    consequences
for you - specifically regarding other relative links in your
    site.
