Master Pages and Buttons - Bug and Fix Request

I think I'm the only person in the world who has encountered this bug, and I've filled out the bug report form on the Adobe site twice in a couple of years.
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered it, and I'm curious to know if it still exists in Creative Cloud (I'm still using CS6). However, I think this bug appeared in CS5.5, prior to that, results were as one would expect.
So here's the gist of it . . .
Prior versions of InDesign allowed you to put a button on a Master Page, then upon export to PDF the page number would be appended to the button name. CS6 appends random numbers to the button names on export. (It seems the number appended to the button names is the instance count of the button in question.) This problem becomes incrementally worse if you use different combinations of master pages, some with buttons and some without.
Steps to reproduce bug:
Create a button, named "menubutton" and add it to a master page
Apply that master page to 10 pages.
Export the ID file to PDF enabling buttons and interactive elements.
Check the button names in the PDF from Acrobat
Results:
In CS6, this now appends the page number, and an arbitrary number to the button name. CS6 results are like such: "menubutton.Page 1", "menubutton.Page 21", "menubutton.Page 32", "menubutton.Page 43", etc.
Expected results:
The button names should become "menubutton.Page 1", "menubutton.Page 2", "menubutton.Page 2" , etc. (As in prior ID versions)
The problem becomes a lot worse when you use combinations of master pages . . . for example:
Master A – contains one button – menubutton
Master B – contains one button – otherbutton
Apply those masters to alternating pages, like below and export to PDF, this will be the crazy result:
Page 1 (A)        “menubutton.Page 1”
Page 2 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 2”
Page 3 (A)        “menubutton.Page 31”
Page 4 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 41”
Page 5 (A)        “menubutton.Page 52”
Page 6 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 62”
Page 7 (A)        “menubutton.Page 73”
Page 8 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 83”
So, can anyone else attest to this? It makes scripting buttons incredibly hard!

1. I would definitely make a copy of the EnterpriseWiki.aspx page layout and make changes to that. You can then set your pages to use your custom page layout. Typically, I provision these via Visual Studio and a module for uploading them to the SharePoint
master page gallery.
2. For the master page, the html version is new to 2013 and is meant to simplify branding, however, it's not required. You can still work within master pages and provision those via features if you'd like. The key is to create your own master page and never
modify the default.

Master Pages / Sync topic list and Project Manager

Hi,
Is there an easier way to see if I've applied my Master page to all my topics rather than right-clicking and checking Properties for each topic? No indication of a Master page shows up in my topic list and there isn't a report I saw to identify this. What I have in my Master page is code so it would not be apparent by looking at output.
Also, is there a way to sync the highlighting within RH to the topic I'm working on. For example, if I'm working in a topic and it's highlighted in my topic list, the same topic isn't highlighted in the Project Manager?

If you look at the Topic List pod you should be able to see a column labeled Master Page.
Click image below for larger view.
If you don't see this column, you might need to scroll the scroll bar to the right. Note also that you may drag the column header to place it next to the Topic name if you like. Also, you may need to right-click the column headers in order to enable the Master Page.

Looking for Scripts that Replaces Text and Master Pages (Batch Missing Files and PDFs)

I have just found the Script Library panel in FM 10. (Always used InDesign before.)
I'm up to replace a text string and two master pages in 100+ documents. Tried to google for some nice solutions to make this automatically but cannot find any scripts/macros to FM at all.
Do you have som tip where to find such scripts/macros?
To facilitate my work I also look for a batch script that automatically updates the image pathes in each framemaker file (image folder has been renamed).
And at a last FrameMaker -> PDF Batch converter.

100 is a small enough number that no time may be saved writing a script (assuming none exist for the purpose).
I'd be tempted to ...
Create a sourcing file that has the new MPs needed (and safe versions of MPs "Left" and "Right")
Create a new Book file.
Add to it all 100 of the files needing update (this is the only tedious part).
Use Find/Replace from the Book menu to fix the text string.
Select all book component files:
File > Import > Formats
Import from Document [MPsourcefilename.fm]
[Deselect All]
[*] Page Layouts
[Import]

Custom Master Page with Top Navigation and Left Navigation

Hi All,
I have successfully converted an HTML Page to a SharePoint 2013 Master Page. I also created a Custom Page Layout. Using both them I have created my SharePoint Site with 30+ pages. Each page is consisted with the Top Header Navigation as it is inheriting
from the Master Page I have used. Now I need the left navigation inherit from the master page also. It gives me the advantage of updating it from the master page and affects it through the entire SharePoint Site.
But at the moment I am inserting the Left Nav using a web part as an HTMl code snippet individually for each and every page. If needs a modification I have to go through all the pages and do the modification. This is not convenient also. I want to this left
nav like the SharePoint Current Navigation alternative but within my Page Layout.
Is there an option to chat within these forums?
Could someone help me to solve this problem?

Hi,
In your HTML Page Layout, is your "current navigation" in its own content place holder, such as "PlaceHolderLeftNavBar" or did you add the current nav to the "PlaceHolderMain"?
Can you add CSS that hides the left nav found in each content page so that you do not have to manually remove the left nav? Then you could simply add the current nav back into the Master Page.

GT70 Dominator Pro Kyeboard and buttons bug

Hi there
I have just bought the latest GT70 Dominator Pro 3 days ago and problems already start to occur.
This morning the keyboards started acting funny as steelseries app will launch and led will light up under my keyboard, but the keys are not working, i have to restart the laptop 2-3 times for it to work.
Also the touch buttons at the top with fan(ramp up fan speed) and airplane mode, all the soft buttons stoped working, they were all fine yesterday. Maybe there is a bug or something but for a topend expensive gaming notebook I didnt expect something like this to happen!
Can anyone here help me to sort this out before I run to MSI to make a complaint.

Kicad and Wxgtk bug with fix.

Hi,
Im using Kicad but have a problem with printing postscript, which is a pain in the arse when trying to print PCB's.
The problem is to do with wxGTK and has been reported upstream sometime last year, I dont know why the wxwidgets team havent resolved the issue as it looks like a simple fix (coming from a non developer).
Can this fix be added to repo?

wxGTK problem while printing wide traces.
When using wxPrintout:
printing wide traces show missing rounded end caps.
(Of course, this is not noticeable with narrow traces)
This is due to missing setlinecap setup in postscript
file created by wxGTK.
I suggest to add in /src/generic/dcpsg.cpp, after the
prolog ( after the line PsPrint( "%%EndProlog\n" );)
a setlinecap command like:
PsPrint("%%BeginSetup\n");
PsPrint( "1 setlinecap\n" );
PsPrint("%%EndSetup\n");
With this change, traces are Ok, they are drawn with
rounded end cap, as they do.

I did not see this post until today, and only started stopping by the discussions on Friday, September 15. The discussions are not my regular job.
However, I have seen this issue before with a game and Teamspeak sharing the sound card. (Sorry, I won't name the game but it is not World of Warcraft)
It had to do with hardware acceleration and DirectX. The resolution was similiar to the one suggested by other discussions users in this thread:

Transferring Custom Master-Page, Custom Page Layouts and Pages created to a new SharePoint Site.

I have a SharePoint 2013 Publishing Site for testing named 'Test'. In the Test I have created a Custom Master-Page and several Custom Page Layouts. Also using them I have created several pages. Now they all are connected to the navigation. Now I want
to transfer all the pages, custom master-page and custom page layouts to a new site (a publishing site) that will be used as production. Will I able to do this or not. Please advice me with best practices.

thanks for posting your query, The master page can't be copied in designer and pasted into the new site collection. A better approach would be to bundle it into a feature and deploy it to the farm where it can't be activated and used.
If you want to copy your master page to another site collection you can download your master page from the master page gallery and upload it to the the master page gallery of the second site collection. From the root site Site Actions > Site Settings
> (Galleries)Master pages and page layouts
If you want to deploy the same master page to multiple site collections using a feature, create a module in Visual Studio, add your custom master page to the module, and create an element manifest something like this:

The basic idea is to have your site-scoped feature include a module that copies your custom master page from the file system to the masterpage gallery. Since the feature folder is shared, the same master page gets copied to the site collection master page
gallery whenever you activate the feature.

5310 MusicPlayer. Bug and suggestions

I have the phone for some time and I am very happy with it. I had the opportunity to took an Iphone (for free) but I chose the 5310 and I don't regret (the only significant thing maybe the battery life and the bug and the suggestions)
Bug: sometimes when you press volume control, audio mutes for a fraction of a second and come back with the new level and a click....., very annoying. It happens for the first time you change volume in a while, when you change it (up/down) continuously it works ok. (not always)
Suggestions:
-More volume levels, please....please....please. Now, jumps are too big.
I don't care if there is not graphical feedback ))))))) more.....more...
-Option to do not rebuild the library when you turn on the phone.
Is it necessary? I mean, can it be save to a file?
-Option to rebuild the library upon request. (for the previous reason)
-Option to return to the previous location when you are browsing and playing music. I mean, you search for an artist, open it, search for an album, open it, search for a song and open it. Then the musicPlayer plays the song but if you press "back", where do you go? To the song within the album, within the artist?......or just to the beginning again!!!
-Browse by letter. Press a letter to go to the first coincidence in the list. Just select "All songs" and search for a song in a 4Gb card full to the brim. This should be applied not only to music.
-Use the keyboard in the musicPlayer. There are 11 useful keys to use (# is mute), not only for the previous reason. Maybe 1 and 3 to fastforward and fastbackward faster than using the keypad. And 4 and 6 to jump 5 or 10 seconds.....and there are seven more....
Ahhh and one more thing....
With the last version (9.42) speaker volume it´s definitely more clear...but it is too much louder at minimum volume.
Well, that's all (for the moment), I look forward to see some of the in the next firmware upgrade.....

Yes there is. If I got this right you want to download and upload data from and to your 5310 from the net. You can connect with a Bluetooth USB dongle, if your computer does not have any other bluetooth device. I bought my Prodige Bluetooth Dongle v2.0 from Verkkokauppa.com before I even got my phone. When BT is active the phone and the camera on the phone will be visible on the folder tree on your resourcemanager, if using WIN OS. The connection quality has been no less than good all times, when I've used my gismos.
There were some connection problems, when the previous version of Nokia PC Suite had only connections available by the type Nokia phones have or used to have. The radio buttons were on n/a state when trying to connect.
The never V 6.85 has configuration setup to manage other installed devices that can connect the phone and PC. You can also connect Audio gateway from the Bluetooth objects and listen the music on the phone with your PC or laptop. I have SPDIF sent to 6.1 DigiAmp and most High-Q MP3- and AAC-files sound almost as if they were orginals on a CD for that matter.

SharePoint O365 Tenant - Custom Master Page Question

Hi guys,
I setup a custom master page for a client and currently they have been very happy with it, although due to recent changes in the suit bar(the app launcher button) we had to move some design around on the page so that everything rendered properly. As
a result I had to use a method that is not the common practice and place all the code for the custom navigation bar, and logo right below the <body> tag and before the "" tag in order for things to render in the way they are requesting. As a result of this the added code is displaying on top of every popup window as well as full page. We only want it to display
at the top of main pages. In the attached image you will see that the page has a popup box for adding something to the calendar. I attempted to edit the NewForm.aspx for Calendar List Item, but i was not able to find anything of use. I even
attempted to hide the div that holds all the code for the top bar via the NewForm.aspx but it was a no go. Please advise on what I can do or weather i can attach a class of some sort to the div that would make this dynamic and hide on pop up pages.

Edit Page options in ribbon disabled after applying modified Seattle Master Page

I'm working on a modified version of the Seattle.master page, and I have an odd permissions issue that is seen when my user (a farm admin) tries to edit a page on the site. On some pages, clicking Edit Page doesn't do anything at all. On others, I've been
able to go into edit mode but not do anything with the Edit options afterward. In this scenario, most or all of the useful edit options are disabled, and I cannot use Save, Checkout, Discard the Checkout, Change the Page Layout, etc...
Checking the JavaScript console in IE reveals this JS error that I don't see in the OOTB Seattle:
SCRIPT5007: Unable to set value of the property 'href': object is null or undefined
[our.site.com], line 1128 character 590
Here's the function being referenced:

As you can see, I have moved the Ribbon (div#ms-designer-ribbon) from its fixed position outside of the div#s4-workspace to inside of the div#s4-bodyContainer so that it scrolls with the page. Placing the ribbon inside div#s4-bodyContainer shouldn't be an issue,
as I've made a Design Manager Master Page in the past and placed the ribbon there as well without issue.
Does anyone know how I can get this modified Seattle master page to allow editing?

Is there any custom JavaScript in it, sometimes error may occur due to some typo.
Suppose that we can do the customization like this: With a copied master page, we can apply a part of the change first, then check it in the browser to make sure it can work without affecting the OOTB features. Then apply other parts one by one with immediate
examinations...
By doing this, it would be easier to find out which step in your whole customization would cause the issue.

Master page scripting

Hi experts,
I have the following requirement - can you provide a sample solution for the same -
I have two Master Pages say MP1 and MP2 – (created because logo alignment is different in the two setups)
I have restricted the MP1 occurrence only to the first page.
Now in both the master page I have 2 suforms say sub1 and sub2.
I have check field, say presence_indicate –
The pseudocode goes like this –
If <presence_indicate>.isNull
Sub1.presence = “hidden”
Else
Sub2.presence = “hidden”
In short, if presence_indicate.rawValue = Null, then sub2 subform should be displayed in all the master pages MP1 or MP2.

to make things bit clearer, the no. of Pages is dynamic and has to be determine at runtime.
- do we need to use resolveNode method to get the exact page no by calling the pageCounr( ) method and running the visibility logic in a loop.
In short, can you modify the example by say, putting a repeatable subform in the Design Layout and a button to add the rows so that we need to get the no of pages at runtime.
The rest of the things are working fine - the requirement is to restrict the occurence of the 1st Master Page also.

Show/hide /print element on multiple master pages

I'm continuing to have a problem with something that should be simple but I can't figure out.
I have a large form.
On one of the pages there's a button that says 'is there a non disclosure order in place' - radio button with yes/no.
If the user selects 'yes' I want the words 'non disclosure' to appear on all my pages.
I've gone about this by creating a text field (non editable) on each master page. It's down at the bottom middle and doesn't interfer with any other element. I've called each of these fields 'nonDis'
Radzmar and Josh Geurian have been brilliant in helping me but I'm still not quite getting it.
Back to the page that the radio buttons are on...
On the click scripting event I have this code:

I've referenced each of the nonDis text fields individually but only the fileds in the master pages: CoreMaster, COREMASTER2, SUMMARYESSENTIALINFO and OPEN work. Despite their ordering in the code they happen to be the first four master pages that are used in order in the document. The actual order is: OPEN, SUMMARYESSENTIALINFO, CoreMaster, COREMASTER2 - these are then followed by INFORMATIONSHARING and contine down the list in order.
I should mention that each nonDis field appears on the top level of each of the master pages (ie. not in a sub form). I have a feeling it's something perhaps to do with my above code maybe not being succint enough - or there being a better way to write it. It could also perhaps be something to do with the transition between the last page that does work (using COREMASTER2 masterpage) to the first one that doesn't (using INFORMATIONSHARING master page).
There is also another big issue in that as soon as I click the print button all the nonDis fields revert back to their opening state of invisible and they stay that way despite the radio button remaining selected on 'Yes' - if i toggle yes/no they reappear on screen, but again disappear when printing. I can't let this happen as the form is meant to be printed.
So please help... this is (I think) the last piece of the puzzle in a project that has taken months. If there's anything else I can provide you with to help please just ask.

Almost there... I think!
It worked up to a point. As soon as I click/toggle yes/no the nonDis field does indeed appear on each and every page. However as soon as I send to print they all disappear.
Doing a few tests it's because of several causes (I think). I have a number of tables which can grow when the user adds info (in fact most text fields have this ability). Also, I have text fields full of information for the user which I have scripted to disappear when sending to print (so the printed form contains user data rather than pages of background info). Finally I have a whole section whose content alters radically depending on which department the user belongs to.
I've noticed that as soon as a page expands to effectively create another page the nonDis field disappears again (the radio button remains selected as 'Yes') - so my gut feeling is that the code above works only if the page count remains the same. Doing more tests I can see that as soon as even one text field adds another page to the form the nonDis disappears again.
Finally, I've also done a test on my clean form - with only the radio button, the nonDis field (on a master page) and a text field and if I set this box to flowed and expand the height as soon as the field goes beyond the page to create another page the nonDis disappears once again even though the button remains as 'yes'

How to turn a Master-Page into a Template?

The aim:
A precious help would be to enhance the concept of master-pages’ concept for them to work similarly to templates – with the opportunity to set-up specific modules. Once saved in a layout-template-master-page, this basic-structure could be dragged onto pages of the siteplan in order to apply the desired basic structure to the page. So, one basic-structure could be applied to several pages, and each page could then be populated with different content – leading to a serious gain of efficiency.
The question:
Is there already any possibility to create such master-templates in Muse? If not, could the ADOBE-Team consider to create this kind of functionality?: Basic-Structure for Pages and/or Master-Pages.
That was a feature-request

Well, if we talk about displaying a consistent item like a logo throughout the site, then, the Master-Page concept works fine.
But if we talk about changing content, e. g. an Image-Gallery, and we put this Image-Gallery on a Master-Page, and we apply this Master-Page to several Pages in the project, then, we cannot load different images relative to the topic of the different pages. So that’s where another behavior of the Master-Pages-Concept would be quite useful.
The idea would be to design Pre-Fab-Layouts, using all kind of modules/Composition-Elements, saved as Master-Pages. These Master-Pages would be applied to the Pages created in the Site-Plan, in order to achieve a consistent Site-development, but keeping the ability to insert flexible content to specific pages.
I’d be glad if I missed something in the current functionality of Master-Pages. What do you think?

SharePoint Foundation 2013 - Master Pages

I am trying to create a SharePoint Intranet site but am quickly running into a number of issues and am looking for help.
I need to create a site that has multiple subsites (one for each department) however all of the subsites need to have a consistent look and feel about them so I have delved head long into branding, creating master pages, etc. I have set-up a
master page, with a logo and icon, I would like this to cascade down to all subsites and pages below however I have no option to set this up.
Is this a limitation of using foundation? What other limitations are there to foundation that I need to be aware of?
There also doesn't seem to be any visual designer, what do people use and what would people recommend to use?
I am sure there will be a number of other questions that I need to ask but these will do for starters.
