Materialized view  and view logs on EBS 11.5.10

Hi,
Trying to create a materialized view log on table MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B connected as APPS... the system complaints about : ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
So, do i have to create the mv log to the INV schema or do i need to grant a priv to user APPS???
I have read in the EBS- Concepts edoc that the materialized view should be created in the APPS schema...
What about the materialized view logs..???
Thank you,
Sim

  • View and View controller in WebDynpro component.

    Dear SDN Community,
I don't see anything like View controller in the webdynpro component. In the WebDynpro component I see only View but no View Controller. Is it that in the webdynpro component view and view controller are physically same and when you swtich to the layout tab its the view and the rest of the tabs for the View controller. May be a stupid question but I would appreciate your clarification here.
    Thanks!

Yes, they are to some degree merged in the IDE. For example, there is only one Java source file for view and view controller. The metadata on the other side are stored in different XML files.

  • Sharing information between tiled view and view bean

I have come across one more problem. I have a search result
page. This search result page has a static text field and a repeated group
(I simplified the page description, for explanation purpose). In the NetD
implementation they are maintaining a page level attribute (say boolean
haveSenisitiveCustomers) and setting this attribute in the
afterDataObjectExecute event. (This data object is associated with the
repeated). In end display event of static text field, they are displaying
message say " due to Registration type, not all customers meeting the
criteria are listed") if the haveSensitiveCustomers flag is set.
After Migration, the boolean flag and static Text Field movedto
SearchResultViewBean and afterDataObjectExecuteEvent has moved to
TiledViewBean. Actual processing done is more complicated than this
explanation. However, it boils down to sharing information between
tiledViewBean and its parent bean. How do we achieve this in the Migrated
    Application?
One way is to add getter methods in the child tiled view bean( to
access in parent view bean, call getRepeated1 and cast to the actual type
and invoke the get methods)Probably the typical solution (I say typical because I don't yet know) will
be to do what you suggest: provide methods between views that can be used to
determine the state needed for processing like this.
However, let me alert you to something that's different than ND, and which
may cause you some trouble. In ND, all retrieving DataObjects associated
with a page executed at one time, and the afterDataObjectExcecuteEvent fired
before any display processing began. However, in JATO, tiled views are
independent objects, and any models associated with them only execute when
the tiled view is first displayed.
Therefore, if the static test field you refer to appears in the page before
the tiled view, then the tiled view will not have executed its associated
model before the static text field is rendered. You will never see the
static text field display the text you want because you won't have the
information at display time. (If the text field appears after the repeated,
then it's not problem, as the display of the tiled view will have executed
the associate model before the field displays.)
The solution is to manually reference the tiled view and its associate model
before they would normally execute. You would execute the model and set the
tiled view's setAutoRetrieveEnabled() to false to prevent it from executing
the model a second time. Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be this:
    beforeStaticTextDisplay(...)
// Force the tiled view to execute the associated model
    Repeated1TiledView tiledView=
    (Repeated1TiledView)getChild("Repeated1");
    tiledView.beginDisplay();
    tiledView.setAutoRetrieveEnabled(false);
Although the beginDisplay() method will be executed twice in this case (once
deliberately, above, and later during actual display), there should be no
overhead. The beginDisplay() method doesn't do anything anyway except
execute associated auto-retrieving models and fire the
    afterAllModelsExecute() event.
Mike, do you concur or have any comments?

  • Aperture viewer issues after full screen view - in Browser, Split View and Viewer modes

2012 MacBook Air, Mac OS 10.8.2, Aperture 3.4.3. Everything is up to date and, as usual, has been working just fine since the last update a few weeks ago. Full screen view never caused any issues... until today.
I tried quitting and restarting Aperture. Using another Aperture library. Quitting everything and restarting my MBA... same behavior.
I went into the full screen view, edited a photo and got out of the full screen view to export it.
All of the sudden, only one line of thumbnails was showing up in my Broswer view (out of 380 pictures in that project). Looking closely at it, it seems like the Aperture now thinks that the desktop area it has to work with (the dark gray area where the thumbnails are) is larger than the aperture window because a part of photo is showing up cut off at the right edge and no slider at the bottom:
(note: at the bottom it says 380 items displayed)
Going back to full screen view, everything looks and works as nothing has happened:
In Broswer view, if I scroll down such that the first row is out of the view, the second row of thumbnails shows up:
Now, if I scroll back up, two rows of thumbnails are shown in the viewer:
To get the third row to show up, I need to scroll down to get the top two rows out of the way and so on.
At some point I saw this weirdo but have not been able to replicate it:
Split View also has its issues - the photo itself is no longer centered and the slider at the bottom gets out of the way past the right edge of the Aperture window before reaching the end of the row of thumbnails:
Finally, when double clicking the photo in the Split View to view it by itself, once again it is not centered and cut off on the right side but there is no slider...
Any ideas? I tried looking through the Viewer-related threads on here and did not see anything close to this. Is there a way to contact Apple support? I found some form somewhere on the website, but it had a dropdown for operating system and nothing past 10.7.2 so I am guessing it is not being maintained...
edit: added the note under the first image

When the graphical user interface is misbehaving, it frequently helps to remove the Aperture preferences apple.com.Aperture.plist from your user library, see the Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics on how to do this.

  • Aperture - Browser, Split View, and Viewer

Photos in my browser will not wrap around into rows. I have just one row which goes right off my screen. I also have this problem in the split view with the thumbnails. And in viewer I have no photo at all. Can anyone suggest a way to fix this problem???

You should have a row of icons along the top of the Aperture window. In the top right are icons which will directly let you switch to "Browser", "Split View" or "Viewer" mode. If you do not see any icons, click the grey oval in the extreme upper-right corner of the Aperture window (it toggles the icon toolbar on & off).
Click the "Split View" icon to switch to that mode.
You should have an image taking up most of the window, and a row of other images along the bottom. If this is just one row which you can only pan left & right then you are in "filmstrip" mode.
Just above the strip of thumbnails at the bottom is a pull-down field that lets you select the sort order, and three icons just to the right. They select whether you want to be in "Filmstrip" mode (which is what it sounds like you are in right now), "Grid" mode (which is what it sounds like you want), and "List" mode. Click the middle icon to switch it to "Grid" mode.
If you aren't seeing enough of your images, you can re-apportion the window. There's a thin gray line dividing the larger picture above from the thumbnails below. Float your mouse directly over that thin gray line and your mouse pointer should switch to a line with an arrow pointing up & down. Press and hold your left mouse button while sliding the mouse up or down to change the proportion of the two sections of the window.

  • Questions on Materialized Views and MV Log tables

    Hello all,
Have a few questions with regards to Materialized View.
    1) Once the Materialized View reads the records from the MLOG table the MLOG's records get purged. correct? or is it not the case? In some cases I still see (old) records in the MLOG table even after the MV refresh.
    2) How does the MLOG table distinguish between a read that comes from an MV and a read that comes from a user? If I manually execute
"select * from <MLOG table>" would the MLOG table's record get purged just the same way as it does after an MV refresh?
    3) One of our MV refreshes hangs intermittently. Based on the wait events I noticed that it was doing a "db file sequential read" against the master table. Finally I had to terminate the refresh. I'm not sure why it was doing sequential read on the master table when it should be reading from the MLOG table. Any ideas?
    4) I've seen "db file scattered read" (full table scan) in general against tables but I was surprised to see "db file sequential read" against the table. I thought sequential read normally happens against indexes. Has anyone noticed this behaviour?
    Thanks for your time.

    1) Once all registered materialized views have read a particular row from a materialized view log, it is removed, yes. If there are multiple materialized views that depend on the same log, they would all need to refresh before it would be safe to remove the MV log entry. If one of the materialized views does a non-incremental refresh, there may be cases where the log doesn't get purged automatically.
    2) No, your query wouldn't cause anything to be purged (though you wouldn't see anything interesting unless you happen to implement lots of code to parse the change vectors stored in the log). I don't know that the exact mechanism that Oracle uses has been published, though you could go through and trace a session to get an idea of the moving pieces. From a practical standpoint, you just need to know that when you create a fast-refreshable materialized view, it's going to register itself as being interested in particular MV logs.
    3) It would depend on what is stored in the MV log. The refresh process may need to grab particular columns from the table if your log is just storing the fact that data for a particular key changed. You can specify when you create a materialized view log that you want to store particular columns or to include new values (with the INCLUDING NEW VALUES) clause. That may be beneficial (or necessary) to the fast refresh process but it would tend to increase the storage space for the materialized view log and to increase the cost of maintianing the materialized view log.
    4) Sequential reads against a table are perfectly normal-- it just implies that someone is looking at a particular block in the table (i.e. looking up a row in the table by ROWID based on the ROWID in an index or in a materialized view log).

  • Azure logging - how do you view and monitor logs?

    Hi,
My question is not specific about logging or specific about storage, so I figured it's best fitted in here.
Currently we log either using System.Diagnostics or from frameworks like log4net and nlog. From various cloud services and web sites. Logs are transferred automatically by Azure to Azure tables. This seems fine, I like to write to file sync at runtime and
have the data transferred by another process.
But as services and webs grow, having to search and such in Azure tables are a pain to say the least. Also I completely lack some monitoring and alert facility (you know "if ERROR from SERVICE1 send email to ADMIN" stuff). What to do? I can write
some code that collects logs from Azure Tables and saves them into a database and go from there. But this is a task I would rather not perform (boring, costly, etc).
What do you guys do? Do you even use Azure Tables as an intermediate layer - or have you something else to pick up the log files?
    Werner

    Hi,
I'm using azure table to log diagnostics errors, and using
azure storage explorer to observe errors, if the data is very large, we could consider use table filter condition to filter the data.

  • Need a how to on a special case for views and view links

I have a typical many-to-many relationship model I'm working on.
    Basically, it looks like this:
    User 1 -------------< * UserGroupXref *>--------------- 1 Groups
You see this in authentication modules all the time. A user can belong to multiple groups and group can contain multiple users.
My task is to use Business Components to create a form that manages user accounts. This form will consist of a User View (master) and 2 detail views.
The first detail view is a list of groups already assigned to the user. I've already defined a viewlink for this first group and it displays its many-to-many results ok.
The second detail view is a list of groups that are available to be assigned to the user. I was thinking that this detail view should be the product of a MINUS operation driven by a BIND VARIABLE. Being a query based view, I think its query would look something like this:
    select group_id, group_short_name, group_long_name
    from groups
    minus
    select xref.group_id group_id , group_short_name, group_long_name
    from usergroupxref xref, groups
    where xref.user_id = :bind_uid
    and groups.group_id = xref.group_id
This introduces a bind variable which raises two questions:
    1) Is there a better approach
    2) How do you use a friggin bind variable?
Seriously, I noticed that the designer will not let you define a relationship based on a bind variable, which leads me to conclude that you have to pass the value at runtime from whatever client app you're using (SWING, JSF, etc). I really haven't found an example of using bind variables that suites me! Maybe someone can point me in the right direction ...?
Finally I have to add control buttons :
    Add Group
    Add All
    Remove All
    Remove Group
Naturally these buttons control the inserts and deletes from the xref table. Does this introduce another updateable view into the app or is it something that the framework somehow handles via the defined associations and what not?
I don't expect anyone to design the form for me, but maybe you can help me at least finish up these view links.
    Thanks much!

  • Creation of materialized view with view log file for fast refresh in 10.1db

Hi,.. I have a select statements that includes data from almost 20 tables and takes long time to complete..I am planing to create a materialized view on this.. would you please suggest best way of doing this?
we would like to have materialized view and materialized log file to refresh changes from underline table to mv view. please provide help on this .. thanks in advance

It will be possible to create a Materialised view with up to 20 tables, but you have to understand the restrictions on complex Materialised views with regards to fast refresh.

  • Materialized view and Partition

    Hi,
I want to discuss a scenario, with which i am dealing nowadays. there is only a single table (named livecdr ) has 22-23 fields and the records are updating in every sec (on daily basis) and in 24hrs livecdr contains approximately more than 2 crore records.
Problem is that the query processing time is so slow due to large number of records and query is fetching records from a view created on livecdr table. I want to know the options, how the query would fetch these records in a short time. Firstly i did range partitioning on livecdr and then i created materlized view but the view didn't create on partition table and when i removed partitioning it was created. After view creation, query performance is much better. i also applied indexing on livecdr.
Can you please tell me, whether this approach is okay or i am doing mistake. should i create partitioning on materialized view and how would i select records from view if partitioning would be applied on materialized view. Please guide me with best approaches.
    thankyou.

  • Materialized View with No Logging Option;;; THX

    Hi all,
    What's the diffrence between a :
Materialized View with No Logging Option
    Materialized View with Logging Option
    thank you

LOGGING|NOLOGGING specifies that subsequent Direct Loader (SQL*Loader) and direct-load INSERT operations against a nonpartitioned index, a range or hash index partition, or all partitions or subpartitions of a composite-partitioned index will be logged (LOGGING) or not logged (NOLOGGING) in the redo log file.
In NOLOGGING mode, data is modified with minimal logging (to mark new extents invalid and to record dictionary changes). When applied during media recovery, the extent invalidation records mark a range of blocks as logically corrupt, because the redo data is not logged. Therefore, if you cannot afford to lose this index, you must take a backup after the operation in NOLOGGING mode.
If the database is run in ARCHIVELOG mode, media recovery from a backup taken before an operation in LOGGING mode will re-create the index. However, media recovery from a backup taken before an operation in NOLOGGING mode will not re-create the index.
An index segment can have logging attributes different from those of the base table and different from those of other index segments for the same base table.

    Hi
What is the difference between view and materialized view ? can we update the base table using views

can we update the base table using viewsYes:
    VIEWS
    1. an updatable view is one that lets you perform DML on the underlying table
(see Oracle Database Concepts 10g - 5 Schema Objects)
    2. non-updatable view requires INSTEAD OF Triggers

You can have updateable (and writeable) snapshots - in updateable (writeable) MV replication.
Oracle uses snapshots (Materialized Views - MV) for two different purposes:
    1. replication
    2. automated Query Rewrite facility (first introduced in Oracle Discoverer, later included in Oracle database 8i).
    Replication types in Oracle are:
    a) Basic replication (MV replication)
    - transaction based
    - row-level
    - asynchronous from master table to MV (Materialized View)
    - DML replication only
    - database 7 / 8.0 / 8i / 9i / 10g
    - Standard and Enterprise Edition
    1. Read-only MV replication
    2. Updateable MV replication:
2.1 asynchronous from MV to master
2.2 synchronous from MV to master
    3. Writeable MV replication
    b) Multimaster replication
    - transaction based
    - row-level or procedural
    - asynchronous or synchronous
    - DML and DDL replication
    - database 7 / 8.0 / 8i / 9i / 10g
    - Enterprise Edition only
    1. row-level asynchronous replication
    2. row-level synchronous replication
    3. procedural asynchronous replication
    4. procedural synchronous replication
    c) Streams replication
    - (redo) log based
    - row-level
    - asynchronous
    - DML and DDL replication
    - database 9i / 10g (10g has Down Streams Capture)
    - Enterprise Edition only (Standard Edition 10g can execute Apply process)
