Maximize browser using button or click box within SWF

Is there a way to maximize the browser the SWF is being shown
in using a button that executes javascript? What javascript can be
used?
Our training links directly to the SWF so that it scales
based on the browser size. I would like to make the browser start
out maximized or give the user a button to click that would
maximize the browser for them.
I've tried adding a button that ran javascript to maximize
the screen, but nothing happened. I don't know if it is bad
javascript, if I need to add more to the javascript, or it simply
doesn't work.
This is exactly what I put in the javascript section of the
button. The button is set to execute javascript on click.
window.moveTo(0,0);
window.resizeTo(screen.width,screen.height);

Yes, the capability is there. The Click Box or Button do that
now. Your particular issue is with audio. One thing you can do is
break the audio into chunks. Maybe even assign to objects such as
Captions.
You should also consider submitting a Wish Form alerting the
development team that a new option would be welcome. The option to
pause audio as well if pausing the slide using a Click Box or
Button object.

  • Pause using Button or Click Box?

    I have been trying to get a slide to pause in the middle
    using buttons or click boxes. I can get the slide animation to
    pause but the audio continues.
    The only way I have found that works is to do considerable
    editing to split the slide into two and make the button/box timing
    end up at the end of the slide. This is a real pain. I have been
    setting the "pause after" property in the button/box and it would
    seem this should be a basic Captivate function but I cannot figure
    it out. Please help!

  • How to open a browser using button?

    Hi Tao,
    You can use the following method of WindowManager in the action assigned to onAction event of your button:
    wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(String URL,String  title);

  • Opening new browser using button

    Hi there:
    I am trying to insert a link to a webpage which I would like
    to have open in a new browser. I selected 'Open URL or file',
    entered the URL [complete with http] and then selected 'New' from
    the drop down list. When I run the file [I have done this locally
    from my hard drive and am wondering if that may be the issue] and
    click on the button nothing happens.
    As a test I changed the URL to be the location for file and
    it opens the file fine. Do I need to wait until the video is
    implemented on the web before the link will work?
    Thanks!

    public class WindowsProcess
         public static void main(String[] args)
              throws Exception
              String[] cmd = new String[3];
              cmd[0] = "cmd.exe";
              cmd[1] = "/C";
              cmd[2] = "start";
              Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd );
              process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd );
    }When you run the above code you should get two open dos windows.
    Now just just enter some html filename and hit enter in each window. IE should start up separately in each window.
    Thats also what should happen if you specify the html file as the fourth parameter. A new process should be created and two separate windows should open with a browser in each.

  • Open Document File Browser using button

    I want to add a button to my PDF that when clicked opens the document file browser to a specified folder. How can this be done? All the information I've found requires you to enter the name of the document you're inserting rather than opening the browser window.
    Also, is it possible to setup a button to open a specified folder and insert the latest pdf file in that folder?
    I am somewhat familiar with JavaScript.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to click the Document ID link to open the document directly without prompting an open\save dialog.
    By design, some specific documents such as .doc or .xlsx files can’t be opened directly when you click the Document ID link.
    As a workaround, I recommend that you can install the Office Web App to implement it in your environment.

  • Button/click box click more than once

    Hi, I'm hoping you guys can point out what I'm doing wrong...
    I have an image where the user can click on certain parts of
    it to display a callout. However, I want them to be able to click
    on the area of the image more than once if requried. I suppose you
    can say it's a bit like an image map.
    First I used click boxes to achieve this, then I tried using
    transparent buttons. However for both of these methods you can only
    click on each part once during playback. Clicking again does not
    show the callout.
    I thought about copying the contents to another slide and add
    a 'Reset' button the user could click on. This would move to the
    other slide, but this seems a bit on the 'clunky' side, so I
    thought there must be a setting or something really obvious that I
    have missed. I was unable to find the relevant informaiton in the
    help file or elsewhere in the forum, so if it does exist I would
    appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.
    How can I allow the user to click on parts of the image more
    than once to show the callout?
    Thanks for your help,
    Liz

    Thanks for your reply Rick.
    I started the activity using rollovers, but I wanted the user
    to do something more definite than just hovering over each part of
    the image. So essentially, I want the rollover functionality but
    with the ability to click instead of just hovering the cursor over.
    I thought this would be easy!
    I've tried using both buttons and click boxes without any
    success. I ventured a little into slidelets, but I want the callout
    to appear in a very specific place and this did not appear to
    satisfy my requirements. The 'click to stick' sounds intriguing so
    I'll take a look into this, but I'm not convinced it's what I want.
    Any more suggestions are most welcome.
    Regards
    Liz

  • Click boxes and buttons not working in Captivate 3 published projects

    I really, really, hope that someone can help me...
    we are migrating from Centra/Saba LMS to Connect Pro LMS and while taking our "old" SCORM projects and posting them to the Connect Pro server we have encountered an issue...and the reason it's very hard to trouble shoot is that it's not all of the projects....??
    Once a project is pulished none of the buttons or click boxes are working - for instance we use a play button on the frist slide for students to enter the course - you click it nothing happens (except when you mouse over the button it does change color)...same with the click boxes - I can use the progress bar to move froward but anything I click just doesn't respond...
    Has anyone encountered this? and I hope know something we can do?
    THANKS SO MUCH,
    Jen

    Do your published projects work outside of your LMS?
    Or is it just inside the new LMS that it isn't working?
    Usually buttons and click boxes not working is because your slides are pausing before the button becomes active.
    What version of Captivate and Flash are you using?

  • Form field validation: All required data lost when clicking browser-back-button!

    Hi folks,
    I have a big problem using the validation text  field components of Spry when the user must click the browser back button (or clicking a history.back()-Link) because he has  entered a wrong CAPTCHA-code!
    Right now, all the data - only in the required fields - not in the optional  fields!!! - is lost and the user has to enter all data once  again;-(
    Does anybody know why only the data in the  required fields is lost? Is there a nice workaround?
    I really  appreciate a quick answer:-)
    Kind regards from cloudy Germany
    Thomas

    rememberFormInputs('frmlogin', 'input-');
    'frmlogin' should be the id of page, not the name. so on your <form> tag, add the id="frmlogin"
    remove the
    // overload alert
    function alert(str) {
         var el = document.getElementById('alert');
         if (el) {
              el.value += str+"\r\n";
    Its really bad practice to overwrite the alert. and inside the rememberFormInputs remove these lines:
    alert('old value remembered: '+old_value);
    alert('setCookie: '+name + ' = '+value);
    and it should work

  • I have ho browser,no back button or search box; how do I get them; I've downed the program twice.

    * In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
    * Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
    * Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • How to redirect to a different page when a browser's Back button is clicked

    In my application a user logs-in and searches on the form provided. Now
    If a I click on browser's Back Button I see a message saying Page Has Expired, now at this point if I click on the browsers refresh button it shows me the page again.I want if browser back button is clicked and then Refresh button is clicked I don't want to show the same page rather redirect to a different page and invalidate the session. Is there a way clicking on browser back button I redirect to a different page.I have the following code on top of each jsp pages:
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache"); //forces caches to obtain a new copy of the page from the origin server
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-store"); //directs caches not to store the page under any circumstance
    response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0); //causes the proxy cache to see the page as "stale"
    response.setHeader("Pragma","no-cache"); //HTTP 1.0 backward compatibilityAny help is appreciated. Thanks

    There's no way to know when the back button is clicked, so I don't see how you can do anything about it. Since that message comes from a page which was created by a POST form submission, you can put some unique value in a hidden field that let's the server side record and if it gets it again (from the reload) then it can ignore the form data and redirect.

  • Using buttons as a menu to open .swfs or .exes

    This should be easy, but I can't figure it out...
    I have a single slide Captivate .swf populated with buttons to launch other Captivate .swf or .exe lessons. When a button is clicked, the menu .swf or .exe should close, and the new lesson .swf or .exe opens. All of the lesson .swfs or .exes will also have a button to return to the menu .swf.
    Everything needs to be full-screen .swfs or .exes, and NOT in a browser. No matter what I do, linked .exes or .swfs open in a browser!
    I have made some progress. I can get the menu .swf or .exe to launch a lesson, but the menu file remains open, and it opens the lesson in a browser.
    I basically want it to function as if the menu file was the first slide of a loooooong file, with the menu buttons skipping to the appropriate slide sections, and the ability to return to the menu slide at any point. I just want to do it with separate files.
    Bad explanation, I know... but any help appreciated!

    I doubt that you will be able to open / close your EXE files as you have envisioned.
    I think that the EXE output option from Captivate is designed to deliver single file content. Nothing fancy with menus, opening and closing other projects etc.
    Another user brought up a similar issue here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/493200 and there is still no solution to it.
    Now I don't really know PowerPoint that well, but if it's so easy to do in PowerPoint why don't you just use that instead then? As far as I know you can import SWFs into Powerpoint so just create your "menu" and "chapters" in Powerpoint and import the Captivate files into those. Then you can save your PowerPoint files as EXE and that should sort out your problem.

  • Text Click box not working when using back button on playbar

    I have an interstesting situation.
    I have a slide that has 2 text clickboxes (Slide B)
    Each text click box has an advanced action associated that controls what is displayed on the next slide (Slide C) . The click boxes and the advanced actions work just fine except for the following situation:
    The learner is on Slide C and uses the 'back button' on the playbar to return to the slide where the two text click boxes are (Slide B), then the click boxes don't seem to work.
    However if the learner goes back one additional slide, the slide before slide B (let's call that one slide A) and the continues from Slide A to Slide B, then the click boxes on Slide B work again.
    Can't figure out why that is?
    has anyone come across this issue before?

    Not for native Captivate interactive objects that suffer with this limitation.  There are interactive widgets such as the Infosemantics Event Handler that have preference options to Reset Success/Fail Criteria After Action.
    You could download a trial version and give that a go:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/download-free-trial-widgets
    You can attach this widget to any kind of screen object to make that object interactive.

  • Every once in a while, a black box will cover the windows minimize, maximize, and close buttons, and then I can't minimize firefox quickly or easily.

    After a bunch of browsing, a black window takes over the windows caption bar and covers the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. When this happens, I can't close firefox except by accessing the firefox menu. And there is no way to minimize or maximize the window.

    Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
    ''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4.0+ SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

    ''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''

  • Can I have an action occur only after a button / click box is clicked and held for three seconds?

    Within Captivate, I am trying to simulate touching and holding a button for three seconds on a touch pad to get a second window to come up.  I have an image of the touchpad and an image of the second window.  Now I have to set up the interaction.  Is it possible for me to have an image "show" -- in this case, the second window -  only after a click box or button is held for three (or more) seconds?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi TLCMediaDesign,
    That sounds very interesting and I would like to learn how to do it. I just read Common JS interface and I know how to manipulate the output at runtime using the JS console, but that is all I really know how to do...
    To understand your answer, I had to make a few assumptions.  When you say JS "post publishing", you mean going into one of the JS files that get published with the project such as standard.js and manipulating that.  Is that correct?
    My second question has to do with the event listener.  I have some experience with JS in the past and manipulating HTML elements, for example.  How do I find a particular button, or any Captivate object in the JS?  HTML elements always have IDs and classes...
    Thanks for any help..
