Maximum total memory and per slot, N500

I have a 4233 4DG with PM45 chipset. It has two memory slots. I'm currently using 2X2GB of RAM but would like to use two bigger sticks of memory to increase the total capacity? Does anybody know what the total maximum memory amount is or is it limited by maximum memory per slot?

maximum memory is 4 gb with windows 64-bit ( 2x2gb ) for n500.

How can I estimate to total memory and CPU needed for my server ?
The minimum esimation : 2x2Ghz and 2Go of RAM per instance is it pertinent ?

DominikThough the picked specs look okay but the better answer, as being mentioned already, would be "it depends" . At this moment, almost all the machines are coming with very good specs so 2gb probably would be the least . You can even have a 4gb RAM system with x86_64 architecture , leaving room for future growth if needed. About setting the memory for the SGA, if the release is 11g, setting the Memory_Target would take care of the the memory allocation for both SGA and PGA and you can start by the default that Oracle picks which I guess is about 40% of the total RAM. Afterwards, you can monitor the performance and can bring down the memory settings if you feel its overly allocated.
That said, I think that this is a question better answered by the capacity planning and management people. I shall see if I can ask my friend, who is in this domain to comment on it.
    Just my 2 cents.

  • Total Memory vs GPU Memory

Scout splits up memory usage between Total Memory and GPU memory, but iPhones/iPod Touches/iPads all have a Unified Memory Architecture which mean that both the CPU and GPU share system memory, which means there is no dedicated GPU memory on these devices.
So with this in mind, how do we interpret Total Memory vs GPU Memory when profiling on an iOS device? For instance, if I want to determine the total memory used by my game, do I have to manually add together Total Memory + GPU Memory?

Thank you for clarifying Michael. Can I suggest that the 'Total Memory' label be changed in future Scout releases, since this is not accurate. I feel it should be called something like 'System Memory' and a new property called 'Total Memory' should be created which displays System Memory + GPU Memory.
In Scout's current form, if I want to know if I'm getting close to maxing out available memory on a device with Unified Memory Architecture (all iOS devices), I have to bust out a calculator and add the 2 memory values together, which is not ideal

  • I just put 8 gb of memory into my new mini, but the computer is only reading 4gb. It tells me that bank 0 has 4 gb and that bank 1 is empty. Which slot is "o" and which slot is "1" ? I re-wiggled the new memory sticks, but it still only reads one of them.

I just added two new memory sticks to my new mac mini, each stick has 4 gb. The computer tells me that it now (with the new memory) only has 4 gb total, however. It says that bank "O" had 4 gb and bank "1" is empty. My two questions are... Which slot is bank o and which slot is bank 1? The computer didn't beep or anything, so I think its just that it doesn't recognize one card. I wiggled them again, in case maybe I didn't put them in tight or something, to no effect. Any suggestions on what I may not have done right???

Same issue here. All chips, old and new working in bottom slot 0 but nothing working in slot 1 (top.)
It also seems to be important to make the insertion at the right angle that was actually steeper than I thought at first. I also got a nice click when it slipped into place. You can also look at the position of the center slot/protrusion on the bottom chip to get an idea of how far the stick needs to be in.
Another thread pointed out that you have to make sure that the retaining clips don't engage before you get it into place as they prevent further movement.

You have three ways to deal with this:
    1) make you user field smaller.
    2) check all other UDF in that table, and if you find one that your not using, delte it.
    3) Somebody told me that SQL Server 2005 will not have this problem. Maybe you can migrate.

I want to upgrade my macbook pro 15-inch i7 2.3GHz memory and I want to know what is the maximum RAM it could take

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It looks like you have got an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, so you can use 16 GB of RAM. You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Remember that you cannot upgrade RAM in MacBooks Pro with Retina display
In case you have got a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, you can only install 8 GB of RAM

  • IMac 333Mhz memory and slots

I recently pick up an iMac 333MHz (tray loading)with 64 mb of memory and would eventually like to get it to OSX.
I have located the main memory slot according to the instructions, but understand that their is a second memory slot. I have been unable to locate it or find instructions on how to add additional memory to the second slot. I understand that the 333MHz iMac can have 512mb (2 x 256mb). If anyone has instructions on how to access the second memory slot and also a resource to get memory for the iMac I would appreciate it.

I recently pick up an iMac 333MHz (tray loading)with 64 mb of memory and would eventually like to get it to OSX.
Note... The lower slot requires low profile memory. You can put the low profile memory in the upper slot if you want.
From what I read, most people feel the 333 machine can take 512meg of memory.
Be sure to update the firmware before moving to Mac OS X 10.2 or 10.3.
You should verify that you have the latest firmware, before installing new software. See the system profiler for details. What firmware do you need?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
Mac OS X takes about 4gig of harddrive space.
This will require a minimum of 128meg of ram. You may put 512meg of ram in this machine. There are two memory slots. One must be Low Profile memory. Be sure you can return your memory cards. iMac memory cards are finicky.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac-G3-G4/
All the tray loading iMac g3's, models a-d, are constructed the same.
Here is a good disassembly page:
    http://www.macopz.com/columns/imacrepair/disassembly.html
The second article in this series has information on replacing the battery:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2584291
The tray loading iMac requires the boot partition to be within 8gig. Since there are hidden partition before the first visible partition, people recommend that you make the first visible partition 7.5 gig to 7.9gig. The machines support upto a 128gig Parallel ATA drive.
You should be able to use Unix symbolic links to 'move' some directory like /Users to the second visible partition.

What is the difference between "Physical Read Total IO Requests Per Sec" and "Physical Read IO Requests Per Sec" metrics in dba_hist_sysmetric_summary?

From docs (Reference, Statistics Descriptions)   :
physical read IO requests : Number of read requests for application activity (mainly buffer cache and direct load operation) which read one or more database blocks per request. This is a subset of "physical read total IO requests" statistic.

  • SAP ECC6 memory and paging issues

    Dear Experts
I have recently upgraded my 4.6C systems to an ECC 6 system (DB2 LUW 9.5 on AIX 5.3 TL9 64 Bit OS)
I have been running the LPAR with 14 GB of memory and we are around 100-200+ users using the system, I was monitoring using nmon and found that Physical Memory was around 99.8% Used   (14311.8MB and 22.6MB was free) also the paging space was around 37.2% in result causing the system at times to run slow which can have a very negative effect on the users.
After further investigation I found that after a system restart the Physical Memory would start around 50.9% and increased at a steady pace until it reached 99.8% that is when the system would start using the paging space which would steadily increase, I found that the only solution was a system restart at least once a week to reduce the memory consumption.
At first glance it looked like a database manger memory leak with the process db2sysc, so I searched the net with the search words u201Cdb2 memory leaku201D and found the following APARs and notes.
APAR JR30285 - Pervasive memory leak when compiling SQL statements that use SQL/XML functions
APAR IZ35230 - There is a pervasive unix-specific private memory leak in the security component

Note 1352361 - Memory leak in shared memory area abrfci
Note 1147821 - DB6: Known Errors and available Fixes in DB2 9.5 LUW
After reading the notes and APARs I decided to updated DB2 to the latest fix pack (5SAP), but after the fix pack was implemented it did not solve the memory problem
I started look at different problems with SAP ECC6, db2 and AIX with paging/memory problems and I found the following notes to do with AIX memory and paging but none of them helped as all parameters and settings were set accordingly

  • Can we control user request w.r.t Memory and CPU utilization in Oracle 10g

    Dear All,
We are having Production with Oracle 10.2.0.4 (5 Node RAC, 32Gb RAM each) running on RHEL5.2 with 12000 Users. We have some schema say FIN, HRMS, SALES, REPORT and many dedicated users for those schemas. We need to control the user request against these schema with respect to Memory (or CPU utilization)
Suppose users using FIN schema can use Maximum 40 % of Total Memory, HRMS schema can use Max 20%, SALES can use Max 20% and REPORT can use Max 20%.
Is it possible to create any Service in Server side to handle this type of scenareo or any existing service which can be customised to fullfil this?
    Please suggest me.......

JDBC 'applications' quite often don't use persistent connections, and often do not exit gracefully by calling 'exit' or 'disconnect'.
This means the session will continue to exist.
It also means, if you don't establish any form of connection pooling and/or dead connection detection, you can throw whatever amount of memory in the server, and you will continue to report
'Now problems is coming'. Apart from crippled English, the general lesson any DBA should know is how these 'applications' operate, and, contrary to some, you can never ever fight problems caused by applications,
by throwing memory and cpu at the problem.
When I read your text, I also assume the application is not using PrepareStatement calls and not using bindvariables, this is why your 'application' is burning the CPU.
Find those 'application developers', sue them, or better still : Beat them with a whip, and have them fix their 'crapplication'.
