Maximum underwater temperature?

I've googled it and looked it up in the manual, but i just can't find it. Does anybody know what the maximum temperature of the Smartband Talk is, when underwater? (That's a different temperature than the one that's about maximum and minimum air temperature, am I right?)
Thanks in advance, Rik

It is not the same, think about it, if you have a pool with cold water lets say at 5C and its a cold day, if you are standing outside it might feel cold and you might be able to withstand it but if you jump in the pool you will get out soon after, why? (without taking into consideration a really humid environment)
In other words, don't use your phone underwater if the water its really hot, not a good idea.

    Hello
The CPU temperature is depending from a lot of factors and also depending on the CPU model.
Why is it so important for you?
If you start Toshiba PC Health Monitor you can check the temperature. It shows a graphic of current CPU temperature.

  • Maximum safe temperature

This is something I've really been wanting to find out for a while. Does anyone know what would be the maximum temp recommended for the shuffle? I would love to be able to take it into the sauna, which I stay in for up to 1/2 hour on occasion. I won't do it unless I'm sure it won't do any damage. (I've seen a person bring an iPod in there but again, I don't want to risk damaging the item.)
    Thanks,
    DG

I would definitely recommend NOT taking it into a sauna.
Heat, sweat and humidity would probably kill it within a few days.

  • Maximum CPU temperature

I monitor my MBP system stats using iStat pro, and when pushing my computer hard with rendering 3d models and other tasks, my cpu temp jumps. I have seen it get to 185 F. How hot is too hot? Is damage being done?

The chip is designed to operate up to 100C but it shouldn't usually go much above 81C - when it reaches that temperature both fans will run 100% until the temperature drops.

  • What is the safest maximum ambient temperature for an iMac to be stored in?

I am packing my belongings away for a few months while I travel and my computer will be in a storage (non-climate-controlled) container in Texas Jan-May. Average outside temps in May are 81 degrees. I'm worried about my iMac being damaged by being packed in a hot container. I know that the safest level for it to operate is something like 95 degrees, but it won't be used during that time.  Anyone know the safe non-operating level?

  • What is the maximum temperature for a mid 2010 MacBook?

I need to know the maximum running temperature for my mid 2010 (white unibody) MacBook. And at what temperature should I shut it down? I'm also curious if I should turn up the speed of my fans and what speed I should set them at. Thanks for everyones support!
It would also be great if someone could provide a link or tell me where they found the info because I want to make sure it is official, I couldn't seem to find it on Apple's technical specs nor google.

MacBooks are designed to shut themselves down if they reach a temperature above which they should not operate. It also controls its own fans, you should not mess with that. I don't know what that temperature is. If your MacBook is running too hot you may want to try resetting the System Management Controller, which is a good first step for all sorts of power related issues.
    Best of luck.

Apple does not provide this information. Though the hard drive details can be looked up at the manufacture website. Most consumer grade drives have a maximum operating temperature of 60C. Though heat can play into lifespan of the drive so I would not want the drive running anywhere near that for extended periods. My advice is to keep the hard drive under 50C.
What applications you are running? How much RAM do you have? and how much free space is left on your hard drive?

  • Odd Question - Temperature Tolerance of W530/Bedbug Removal

    Hi all,
I've owned a W530 for more than a year. I can include more detailed specs if necessary, but for now it has a Samsung 840 250GB HDD and 32GB of RAM. Currently there is the HDD that shipped with the W530 in the ultrabay.
I've followed this forum for some time now - I have two much older thinkpads, a T60 and a z60m as well. The advice here has been extraordinarily helpful time and time again. It's truly a wonderful resource.
    So my question:
I live adjacent to an apartment which has recently been confirmed to have bedbugs. Mine has been inspected, and found clean. However, the other day I found a dead bedbug and my girlfriend has some suspicious looking bites. Given this set of circumstances, I am assuming we have some.
I've made arrangements to stay elsewhere, and have undertaken a laborious process of ensuring that all items taken will not have any unwelcome travelers.
However I am at a loss as to how to ensure that the laptop is not carrying anything. Heat greater than 120 degrees F, sustained for a period of time, will kill any bedbugs or eggs (it's how we ensure that the clothes being taken will be clean).
If turned off, can the W530 be exposed to such temperatures (possibly up to 140) without damage? If not, are there any other suggestions?
Thanks again for any help anyone is able to provide.

  • What does operating temperature mean?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP5
Apple states that the maximum operating temperature is 35 degrees Celcius. Does that mean that my Macbook can be, at max, 35 degrees Celcius, or that the temperature around me, while using my device, can be, at max, 35 degrees?
    Thanks, so much.
    Regards,
    bettyfromcalifornia

Also pay attention to "storage temperature".
Car trunks in deep summer can easily exceed both humidity and temperature limits.
And car tunks in deep winter can easily lower the temperature of all components even deep in the Macbook.  You may want to allow your Macbook some time to slowly re-warm from deep freeze.
If your Macbook will be in storage for a length of time (2+ weeks) you may want to leave it with a friend who has controlled-environment if your only other option is a storage unitsthat has no controls.

  • Temperature tolerance of MacBook Pro?

We are planning a project in Death Valley national park for mid-July or August, and I am trying to find out if my laptop is going to get fried out there (literally), or if i will be able to use it during the trip (we are shooting video and plan is to digitize and edit in the evenings). Does anyone know if there is a maximum external temperature beyond which it just doesn't work...? thanks!

The only temp that will force a shutdown is if the CPU hits about 100 C (212 F)... the boiling point of water. While under normal circumstances the CPU will not get this hot even under a heavy load... that is somewhat dependent the ability of the internal fans ability to keep the system cool. If you're going to be in 120 F climates... that doesn't give nearly the cooling that say a 70 F room would. Apple's official specs state the following:
    # Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
    # Storage temperature: -13° to 113° F (-24° to 45° C)
    # Relative humidity: 0% to 90% noncondensing
I would expect you would easily exceed the 95 F mark during mid July or August in Death Valley... being the hottest possible time of the year to be there. You're looking at temps that would likely climb higher than even the "storage" tolerances. LCD panels can also run into issues at high temps in these ranges... although they will usually revert to properly functioning when they cool down.
Unless you absolutely must have you MacBook with you... I would suggest an inexpensive netbook. Besides the heat... you have sand and dust to contend with as well. It's really about the worst environment for a notebook short of a lake.

  • W700: max GPU temperature for Quadro FX3700M?

I've recently noticed a freeze / stall problem in Direct 3D applications (mostly games) with the Nvidia Quadro FX3700M GPU of my W700 (2757) under Win XP x64 and Win 7 Pro x64. The system was running rock solid for more then 3 years, and after a lot of testing with fresh Windows installations and different Nvidia driver versions, I decided to take a closer look at GPU temperatures.
Turned out that in idle mode GPU temps are already 65 °C and climb over 96°C under full load in the GPU testing tool from MSI (MSI Kombustor). Furmark brings it even over 100 °C (I stopped it after a few seconds).
Are these temperatures normal for the FX3700M? I hear the GPU fan kicking in, but it may be necessary to apply fresh thermal compound for optimal cooling.
    I'd appreciate any advice.

I downloaded TPFanControl and it is working well on my W700ds so far.  It shows all the temperatures and allows you to control the fan speed at different temperatures.
Before I blew the air through, I downloaded the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool from Intel.  It tests the processor and loads it up pretty hard.  It gives a differential temperature from the maximum recommended temperature.  At the start of the test my processor indicated 42 degrees below max and at the end 21 degrees below max.  Not sure what max temp is but when I first turned on the TPFancontrol it indicated my gpu was running between 78C and 81C degrees.  Since blowing air back through the fans, the highest gpu temp I saw, with the TPFancontrol running in as received setup, was about 60C. I played with the .ini file for the TPFancontrol and have mine running at a fan level 4 at 57C.  that would be without heavy use.

  • Airport Express temperature question

I am wondering what the highest operating temperature can be for the airport express?  I have a situation where the temperature will get to 120 degrees and although the tech specs stipulate 95 degrees there is usually an engineering factor/range that will accomodate for some degree of variation.  I would like to ensure that is operates reliably for the short and long term under the higher temperature.

Maybe there is a range, but I do believe the technical specs stipulate the "maximum" safe operating temperature. That nominal temperature is 95º F. Storage temperature can be as high as 140º F.
If you operate it at 120º F you must assume the risk that it will fail earlier than its expected life. And, most likely any damage during the warranty period would not be covered because it was operated outside of its stated maximum operating temperature.

  • 3700 High Temperatures

    Hey all,
I have built this computer for a friend:
    AMD64 3700
    Zalman 7000 Alcu
    FIS2-R
    1G Mushkin 222
    9800 Pro 128
    Aspire 500W
    6 case fans
    77F room temp
The temps. are 62C at idle and 71C under load. Seems too high. I used Arctic Silver and have made certain the CPU and fan are in contact properly. The CPU was acquired from a local guy affiliated with AMD, so we got the CPU earlier than release, it may be an engineering sample. Can anyone tell me what normal 3700 temps are for them? What fan are you using with your 3700?
Edit: I forgot to mention Corecenter 1.6.6.0 is installed. Processor Drvier 1.1.0.14 is installed. Cool N Quiet is enabled. Bios Version 1.7b1. When dropping the multiplier to 10 instead of 12 we still get a 66C processor reading. Can't get cool and quiet to drop multiplier to 4 even with minimal power settings in XP.

    Hi MCManiac
I know you are worried about temps, it is quite right to be concerned. But it is being addressed I believe, the Newcastle CPU seems to report higher temps, this one is Clawhammer, but all CPUs vary, even the same type of CPUs can show differant temps. Here is an article of todat fron Tech Republic on temps, note what other CPUs operating temps are.
    "  Takeaway:
Heat and temperature can cause severe damage to a computer system. Understanding the different types of heat can help you overcome their effects. Here's what you need to know.
The laws of thermodynamics spell out the fate of your computer. Waste energy manifests itself as heat, the random movement of molecules. Some random events are a bit more extreme than others and result in the microscopic circuits separating or burning through. At that point your computer becomes little more than an interesting piece of shiny silicon suitable for a key chain fob. Most of the time heat manifests as semi-random lockups and failures, typically when the machine is needed most.
It should be obvious by now that heat and temperature aren’t as simple as they may seem. There are many sources of heat in your system. Once you know the cause and effects of heat in your system, you can go about eliminating it as a problem. Here’s what you need to know.
    Core temperature
Core temperature is the temperature of the device (e.g., processor or hard drive) as measured on the inside. As such, core temperature is the critical factor. All of the temperature control devices inside your system are there to minimize core temperatures. There's no need to install additional cooling if your core temperatures are acceptable.
Measuring core temperatures can be problematic, since external thermometers read only the surface temperature of the circuit. While there may be only a few millimeters of intervening material, with modern circuitry being measured in microns, these miniscule millimeters might as well be miles. Most processors are now equipped with a thermal diode that measures the temperature within the circuitry itself.
Different processors from even the same line can have widely varying acceptable core temperatures. Typical core temperatures are listed below along with the location of the manufacturer’s online records. Intel has not published an official maximum core temperature for Pentium IV processors due to the on-board thermal shutoff system. Other processor core temperatures are as follows:
    Pentium III: 75-90 C
    Pentium IV: 80 C
    AMD Duron: 70-100 C
    AMD Athlon: 70-100 C
    AMD Athlon MP/XP: 85-95 C
Devices other than processors can suffer from heat. For example, hard drives and memory occasionally suffer. Unfortunately, there's little way to measure their core temperatures, which forces you to examine their environment.
    Ambient temperature
Many people believe that ambient temperature is the temperature of their office, but in relation to a processor or video card ambient temperature refers to the interior of the case. Some motherboards have sensors that can monitor the case's interior temperature, but if your computer doesn’t have this feature, a $5 digital indoor/outdoor thermometer with a sensor on a cord and a high/low memory will work as well. In general, case temperatures should be kept below 80 F.
Ambient temperatures are controlled with case fans. Proper fan design generally has an air-intake fan at the front of the case at the bottom with a rear exhaust fan near the top and as close to your processor as possible. This lets natural convection work in your favor as the warmed air rises. Accidentally reversing a case fan can significantly alter the case's ambient temperature, especially when high-flow fans are in play "
Even the Newcastle seems moderate against these temps.  Just keep pressing MSI and see what happens.
    Cheers

  • Temperature of imac '24 too high ?

is this a normal temperature for my imac? im a bit concerned because this..
    Thanks

Ricardo, Your temps look pretty good except for the Hard drive. By no means do you want your hard drive to run at it's maximum operating temperature all the time like that. What is your Ambient temperature? There are three internal fans in your iMac and they can be adjusted individually. One for the CPU, one for the Hard drive, and one for the Optical Drive. To adjust the fans download and install SMCFanControl:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31029
I've increased my fans several hundred rpms and they are still barely audible. Your default fan speeds I believe are ODD:700, HDD:1200, and CPU:1200. A few tips, the CPU fan provides cooling for the CPU, GPU, and Power Supply. It would be good if you can get your Power Supply under 60C and you want the hard drive under 50C if possible. You might try setting them like this:
    ODD: 1000-1100
    HDD: 1700-1800
    CPU: 1500-1600
