MaxL - Export Security File Command

Hi,
Ours is a planning application - Classic - 11.1.2.0 version.
I have a requirement where I need to get all the information regarding security defined on dimensions, data forums etc. The reason we are looking for this is so that we can compare the overlap (if any) of security given to any particular user - who mind end up being in two groups (in shared services) but each group has different access/permissions.
For instance - There is a user who has access to two data forms and say on one form he needs write access to Actuals and on all the other he should just have read access to Actuals. This user is in two groups and in one group he has been given write access to Actuals but in another group he was given read access to Actuals. So, based on this the "Write" permission will be dominant and he would be getting write on both the places which might not be efficient.
So, to avoid such situations I need to know the all security overlaps in a readable format. I did go through the Export Security File command but I am not sure if it would give me all the details I need. I did read the tech ref but couldn't get all the information. Will this command help to achieve my requirement? Are there any other better methods?
Please let me know your ideas. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you John for your prompt response.
I don't know why I didn't think of this when I was thinking about this issue...I mean I knew of this utility but it didn't struck me for some reason...sorry about that but I think this would help me :)
I also have another question - I don't know if I should have posted it as another post but please let me ask here.
Does, the dimension level security applied on Planning data forms also work on reporting?
We have situations where a user needs to work on data forms as well as work on reports. In data forms he should just be able to see part of customers but when working with reports he should be able to see all customers. So, if I have two groups in Shared services - one group for reports and another one for planning and this user being in both the groups how would it work?
Will it overlap at some point? Or will it be two different things since for once group we would provision him as a planner for an application and in the reporting group he would be playing some other role? I am a little confused on this as ultimately it is the same user.
Please let me know.

  • Script to export Security file using maxl script

    can anyone provide me the Script to export Security file using maxl script.It should create a log file and a batch file should also be there to schedule the Maxl script.Please help me with this

    Hi,
    You can use something like
    [b]login admin password on localhost;
    [b]spool on to 'c:\temp\log.txt';
    [b]export security_file to data_file C:\temp\sec_file.txt;
    [b]spool off;
    [b]logout;
    Then you can have a batch file that just calls the maxl script
    essmsh name_of_maxl_script.mxl
    The batch script can then be scheduled.
    Cheers

  • Missing 'Export Track as Audio File' command Logic Pro X 10.0.6

    Hi - I have just installed Logic Pro X (v10.0.6) for the first time, having come across from PT.
    For some reason, Logic appears to be missing some key 'Export Track as Audio File' commands from the menu. The shortcut Command + E just makes the screen flash and nothing happens. I also appear to be missing a lot of other basic commands along with this, based on what I have seen online from other users. Please see screenshot below of my file > export options:
    I have tried reinstalling but the same problem occurs.
    Could someone please confirm if this is normal, or how I might be able to fix if not? FYI, I am running OS X 10.9.1..
    I am hopefully just missing something obvious here.
    Thanks

    The Art Of Sound wrote:
    Evidently it's not giving the user a choice at installation?
    It does.. but it words it along the lines of 'Have you used Logic Pro in the past?" kind of thing....
    So an experienced DAW user that hasn't previously used Logic, would get the limited installation.
    The more people you try and and protect from themselves the more generic (i.e. limited) the solution.
    Religion would be a good example of this.

  • Security file comparison

    Dear All,
    Our security file crashed and we used the backup copy to recover it. The date of the backup copy shows it is the one on the prior day. Which I don't think there will be much defference, and we reviewed the log and can find no security changed during the day.
    But our management team asks us to compare the two files and report the difference...
    Do you have any good idea to compare the 2 files?

    Well, your comparison is always going to be off, isn't it? One file is good, the other corrupt -- they have to be different, don't they?
    I would be extra sure to have a backup of the .bak file before I did any of this as Essbase has a tendency to write a copy of Essbase.bak on start up and it would be a shame to overwrite your last good copy.
    If the original file will still let you start Essbase up (usually this isn't the case, but you might get lucky), you can dump the contents of the Essbase.sec in three ways:
    1) Start Essbase in a window, and issue the DUMP command -- that will write the information out to a text file.
    2) I think you can do this from EAS, but for the life of me can't remember how -- right click on the security node and select export? I don't have EAS in front of me.
    3) Use MaxL's export security_file command.
    One other thing to consider -- if you use externalized to Shared Services security, most of your security is there, not in Essbase.sec, so you might want to think about comparing what was in Shared Services versus what is there today.

    Thanks in advance

    Glad that worked.
    Working with MDS, another way is to use the EM console for exporting/importing data from/to MDS. This I find lot easier rather than working with the OOTB script.
    Steps are:
    http://ADMINSTRATION_SERVER/em
    Navigate to Identity and Access, oim. Right-click and navigate to System MBean Browser.
    Under Application Defined MBeans, navigate to oracle.mds.lcm, Server:oim_server1, Application:oim, MDSAppRuntime.
    To export the configuration files:
    •     Click the Operations tab, and then click exportMetaData.
    •     In the toLocation field, enter /tmp or the name of another directory.
    •     Select createSubDir as false.
    •     In the docs field, enter the complete file location as the Element.
    •     Also select false for excludeAllCust, excludeBaseDocs, and excludeExtendedMetadata. Then, click Invoke.
    This exports the file specified in the docs field to the directory specified in the toLocation field.
    To import the configuration files:
    •     Click importMetaData
    •     In the fromLocation field, enter /tmp or the name of the directory in which you have the configuration files.
    •     Select createSubDir as false.
    •     In the docs field, enter the complete file location as the Element. For example, /db/oim-config.xml.
    •     Also select false for excludeAllCust, excludeBaseDocs, and excludeExtendedMetadata. Then, click Invoke.
    This imports the file specified in the docs field to MDS in the toLocation field.

  • Getting an error when Importing a security file

    Hi,
    Im struggling to import a security file into planning..this is the error i get
    Enter password: Tue Mar 30 09:30:53 SAST 2010 :: Validating the Secfile.txt...
    Tue Mar 30 09:30:53 SAST 2010 :: ---------------FILE NOT FOUND EXCEPTION COMING-------
    The server is running unix: I'm running the command from the directory where the ImportSecurity.sh utility is...I have also copied the secFlie.txt file into the same directory. But still get the same error.

    There is a slight issue with the unix versions
    If you use the exportsecurity utility it will create a file called :- secFile.txt
    When you use the importsecurity utility it looks for a file called :- Secfile.txt
    As it is case sensitive you have to update the exported secFile.txt
    Cheers

    Is there anything that can be done, in terms of maintenance, for the security file for Essbase 7.0?
    Over the weekend, our server guys rebooted the Essbase server, essbase service never came up this morning. I launched essbase in the command prompt and it gave me an error message about bad security file.
    I replaced the security file from a backup, but if these corruptions can be avoided by doing maintenance on the security file, then I am looking for some ways to automate that maintenance process on a bi weekly basis.
    Thanks

  • Can't export song files in Hydrogen drum program

    Well; I'm having audio problems again,
    so today I added my user into the audio group with:

    Then went:

    and then the audio wouldn't work in Hydrogen...
    Now; the previous time I opened Hydrogen, the audio did work, but I made a quick drum track and tried to export it and in the process of doing so, (made it to where the audio stopped working?)
    How can I get audio back and export song files?
    Thanks in advance for any tips!

    Are you starting jackd in realtime mode? If not, maybe that's what causes Hydrogen zombification. You could try to start jack manually beforehand, for example via qjackctl.
    I can offer what works for me, maybe you want to try to replicate my setup.
    I'm using hydrogen 0.9.5.1-4 and jack2 1.9.9.5-4. I start jackd via qjackctl 0.3.11-1 with the following setup:
    Generated command line:
    /usr/bin/jackd -P80 -p128 -t4000 -dalsa -dhw:0 -r48000 -p256 -n2 -Xseq
    I'm not using a realtime kernel, just stock Arch Linux, right now linux 3.12.7-1 (haven't updated yet to 3.12.7-2).
    Aside from all that, you can get great help for Linux audio issues at linuxmusicians.com, lots of knowledgable folks there.

  • Why am I not able to export NEF files to Photoshop from Lightroom to edit. This is new. When I right click on an image, the export to PS option is not selectable.

    Why am I not able to export NEF files to Photoshop from Lightroom to edit. This is new. When I right click on an image, the export to PS option is not selectable. I've never had this happen before. I haven't used it for a few weeks, so maybe there's an update (Mac or otherwise) that's screwing things up? HELP!

    I have an Edit In - Photoshop option, but not an Export - Photoshop option.
    Obviously to have right-click Edit In to work, the photo you're right-clicking on needs to be selected.  I assume this is not the problem, and that the photo is selected.
    Mavericks 10.9.3 has a problem where the Users folder is hidden, and you need to update iTunes to fix it, but it's been a few weeks since this happened so hopefully you're up-to-date and the Users folder isn't hidden anymore.
    If you can't get things to work, I'd uninstall LR and uninstall Photoshop, then install Photoshop, and update it, then install LR and update it, as a way to get any wayward security or other OS-level things reset.

  • Naming for Export dmp file in Date and Time

    Dear All,
    Please advise me how to give the file name in date and time stamp for the export dmp file and it's log file.Suggest me in Oracle 9i version.
    for example the file name get like this 020420041155.dmp and 020420041155.log where date and time are 02/04/2004 11:55 respectively...
    Kindly let me know the syntax of filename to be given along with the EXP command..
    Thanking You,
    Ragesh

    Hello
    I don't think you can get the exp command to automatically name an export for you. The only way I think you would be able to do it is through a shell script or something where you format the file name yourself and pass it to exp. If you wanted to you could generate the command line through a SQL statement and then spool it out to a file i.e.
    spool runexp.bat
    select 'exp user/pwd@tns file='||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'DDMMYYYYHH24MI')||'.dmp tables=(table1,table2)' from dual;
    spool offThe second option isn't as flexible as the first but if it's just a couple of exports you have to do, it will probably prove to be less work
