i tried forte for java... but seems difficult...
anyone can recommend a user-friendly or industry
standard editor for me?

I use TextPad downloaded from www.textpad.com.
I like it because it has build-in java color coding, automatically detects your JDK and you can compile and run your Java code directly in it.
Textpad is also a generic text editing tools that include all the useful editing features such as block selecting, block indenting, regular expression search and replace on single or multiple files, keyword quick paste, compare files, sorting, bookmarking and most of all, bracket matching.
I found that it ease my heavy coding day alot. I really recommend you the try it.

In any case java is instaled to /opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142 (this is an unix machine). This is also JAVA_HOME and SAPINST.... variable
This is when I install from "IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-12.0.x86_64.rpm" or from "IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-13.2.x86_64.rpm". When I enter java -version I get (as stated before):
java version "1.4.2"

I see two directories named mozilla and firefox in my ubuntu laptop. May i know which direcotry files firefox uses while running ?

I see two directories in my ubuntu laptop /usr/lib path.

2.firefox
May i know the reason behind this ? Which directory files do firefox uses ?I am trying to make webx work in ubuntu. Need to know which directory firefox access so that i can define the corresponding soft links in correct directory.

You may have installed Firefox before and not realized it.
What files are inside these directories?
I can't say which one Firefox uses because it all depends on how it was installed.

Which data sources I need to use for Actual&Plan comparision of GL Account?

Could you please let me know which datasources I need to use for Actual & Plan comparision of GL Account data?
Current SAP BI version is BI 7.0.
As per my knowledge, I am thinking of using the datasources 0CO_OM_CCA_1 for Plan data & 0FI_GL_10 for Actuals.
Is this right?
I have one more question here:
While extracting the data from ds 0CO_OM_CCA_1, I am getting only the Profit & Loss Account data where as the Balance Sheet Account data is not coming.
And also there is some confusion in VTYPE because the standard ds 0CO_OM_CCA_1 is giving the data with Value type 10 is & Version 000.
As we all know the VTYPE '10' stands for Actuals then how can we say that this ds 0CO_OM_CCA_1 gives Plan data?

Basically 0CO_OM_CCA_1 data source is used to extract actual, plan, and commitments.
This data is differentiated with value type, you can see sap note 523742 for more details on value type.

Splitting Java source into multiple WSDLs using ANT

Hi,
I have seven of webservice operations defined in a single webservice class. But, I want those split into different WSDLs as different services (with different service names) using ANT. I cannot find a easy way of doing that.
The problem is that when I use servicegen, I can give the same webservice class as different services which would split it into different services. But, I would have all the operations in the overall webservice into every single service. That is not acceptable. Each service can have only one operation.
Is this possible at all? I am using WLS 813?

If you are asking if there a way to tell servicegen to put different operations from the same Java source in different WSDL, the answer is no.
You can use the source2wsdd Ant task (http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webserv/wlws_tags.html#1095437) and the @wlws:exclude tag to exclude methods from the WSDL, but that's about it. Here, you would have multiple copies of the Java source, with each having the @wlws:exclude tag on all but one method. The names of these file copies would be something like <real-file>1.java, <real-file>2.java, etc. You won't ever compile these files, you'll just us them to copy over <real-file>.java, before you run source2wsdd. You'll be running source2wsdd on xxx.java, as many times as you have <real-file>n.java files.
source2wsdd will then produce a seperate web-services.xml (i.e. web service) for each copy over of <real-file>.java. Each of these web services will need to have a different context root, because the endpoint for a WLS web service is exposed as a servlet.

I talked to their web support and was told that I have to use the same version of Firefox that they support, which is Firefox 26 or 27. I don't know how to find out which version I am using. Firefox updates every 6 weeks and the current version is 31.0. Rolling back almost 6 months is not recommended for security reasons. If that's their best answer, I suggest we either figure out a workaround for getting the document, or you just use a different browser for their site.

I have a schema X, In that schema some of the *"JAVA CLASS" and "JAVA SOURCE"* objects are missing ..
The procedures ,functions..etc objects were updated at X schema..
I have 1 dmp file of Y schema , containing the missing "JAVA CLASS" and "JAVA SOURCE" s.. Can I import the the same to the schema X using IMPDP
i tried using INCLUDE clause but it is not working

Which data source of many to use, based on user entry of month

Looking for hints relating to BEx queries inside the Web Application Designer's web templates.
Currently a query is using 1 very, very large data source, such as payroll records.
If data is divided into smaller portions, such as monthly data sources....
How can we:
- establish a link between the variable entry screen where the user selects 1 specific month and
- force the query to return results from that 1 month's data source?
In other words, we are looking for a way to build intelligence into the query for it to make a decision about which data source to use, based upon the parameters that end user enters.... with the hopes that the process will return the results faster, because it has less data to weed thru to get to the results.

As U said the datasource is a huge one. Now let's say these datasource is feeding its data to only 1 cube IC1. After the data to the cube is loaded, there will be huge junk of data from the source, so, inorder to improve the reporting performance with respect to this cube you got different options of creating Indexes, Aggregates etc., on to this cube. Again coming the BEx, there also U have other options to improve your query performance.
As per your requirement, U want to display data with respect to a month which the end user enters. For this I guess U can have a variable entry for the time characteristic Calendar Month/Year. By this way, U can get the desired results for the query. I suggest, U can even improve the performance by having range values (or) single value restrictions on the time characteristic Calendar Month/Year, if U are sure for which calendar months (or) years the data is to be queried upon.

I need you to tell me what features your ideal source code editor (with some project management tools built in) would have. Tell me anything, however big, however infeasible, or however trivial.
Background:
I'm starting work this summer on a major project, set to last until the summer of 2004 (2 years), during the course of which I plan to develop an advanced text editor (with project management tools), written in Java, that will be built from the ground up differently from any other. It will be freeware on release.
Features:
The software will be able to handle HTML/XML/Java/Prolog/LISP/C/C#/Perl languages and plain text, and will support plug-ins for other languages.
In the course of developing it, I want to experiment with novel features, built-in project management tools, support for numerous programming languages, different ways of viewing, editing and presenting the project/code, and the application of the latest AI research.
I also want to build a 'concept' GUI (as in 'concept car), that will be rather unlike any other application around at the moment and will be designed from the start to follow all the latest theory on user psychology, behaviour and preferences.
I have dozens of ideas for this, which sadly I need to keep mostly under wraps for the time being. However, this project is intended to create from scratch an entirely new text editor using user-centred design, and I need to know what all you novice and experienced users want.
Timeline:-----------------------------------------------
Prototypes expected by Xmas 2002.
First beta likely to appear late Summer 2003.
Successive betas to be followed by release
candidates around about Xmas 2003.
Final release to appear early Spring 2004.
Update Summer 2004.
(All these releases will be freeware)

it may provide many different GUI.. including a web based GUI... imagine a distributed editor GUI .. which the user may access him project trough the web, mantaining the CVS control, secutiry and cross-plataform benefits....
it also provide you a chance of create new GUIs (evolution) along the next years.. without having to change the editing classes....
Nowadays I�m developing a AI Planner as part of my MsC thesis...
my project has the following design:
- a model: the set of data structures which are filled at the start of the planning process...
- a kernel controller, the code which makes the real work (parse the input files creating the model, dispatch the planner thread and save the results..)
- a GUI: I have tow GUIs now, an JFrame application and a JApplet application. These two GUIs share the same model and control classes.. this provide the same eficiency trough the web or trough a standalone application ....
that�s the point: a good GUI must be disassociated from the classes which makes the "undeground working"
it may be helpfull if you create a code model, some code checkers (it may be threads) and the GUI separatelly...

You could try Jext (www.jext.org). It provides syntax highlighting for multiple languages (including java) and allows for plugins. I don't use many of the bells and whistles, but you may find some convenient. Not as powerful as forte or similar, but it is free and fairly easy to use.
