MDB and Client transaction

Is there any stadard patterns for achnowledging the client from the MDB regarding the success of a method call.
I can make the client to listen on a particular Queue/Topic and MDB can send the status to this configured Queue or Topic.
Is there any other alternative for this?

Can you be more clear on what meant by pattern in this
case? What exactly is the scenario and kind of
solution you are looking for?Our aim is to make an asynchronous method call from the swing based client in the J2EE environment. For that we have set up a cliet in such away that one thread woould listen on a TOPIC on the client side.
Client makes request to an MDB on the server side. While making a request some errors may occur. But we couldn't find a suitable mechanisam to give it back to client.
This is the scenario. Pls help me to find suitable solution? Is there any betterway to make asynchrnous calls from Swing client in J2EE environment.

  • MDBs and Transactions.

    Ok,
    I am bit confused with how exactly MDBs work with Transactions.
    For example,
    suppose we have a simple standalone java message producer which sends a message to a Queue. A MDB's onMessage() picks it up.
    Let's say the MDB makes some updates to the database and then invokes a method on a stateless session bean which also updates a database.
    By default the transaction attribute of the MDB and stateless session bean would be REQUIRED.
    If the stateless session bean database update fails, I presume the MDB's database updates also get rolled back.
    But, does the message get rolled back? If not when would the message be rolled back?
    Does it make any difference if the MDB is a topic or a queue? Does it make any difference if the message producer is a standalone client or
    a stateless session bean with it's own transactional behaviour?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

    The general principle is: if you have a MDB which consumes a message in a transaction, and that transaction is rolled back, then the message is "rolled back". This means that it is put back on the queue or topic. It will then be delivered to the MDB again.
    If your MDB calls a session bean then the two can share the same global transaction as you suggest.
    Note however that the transaction which consumes the message is completely separate from any transaction which placed the message on the queue in the first place. JMS completely decouples the two steps. Once the message is added to the queue the producer is irrelevant.

  • MDB and transactions

    Hello,
    I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and/or can suggest a solution...btw, I'm running this on JRun4.
    I have a JMS queue that uses a database for the queue. The onMessage method for my MDB is part of a container managed transaction. My onMessage method simply inserts the message into an audit table. I then purposely change the name of the audit table so that my MDB will throw a SQLException.
    If I send a single message, a SQL exception is thrown and caught and I roll back the transaction via MessageDrivenContext.setRollbackOnly(). The stdout logs show that after the exception the transaction is rolled back and the message is resent. This sequence occurs repeatedly until I fix the column name and then the message is consumed and inserted in my audit table. This works as I expect.
    If I were to send 2 (or more) messages, the same SQL exception occurs for each message and the transaction is rolled back and the message(s) are resent. However, once I fix the table error, I find that those 2 messages were repeatedly consumed and inserted into the audit table (e.g. there were 50+ inserts). In the stdout logs it appears once the database problem is corrected each transaction that was rolled back now ends up commiting leading to repeat consumptions.
    Has anyone encountered this? I'm a bit confused as to why, since the rollbacks, resends, and commits appear to work fine when there is only a single message.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    This is only a guess, but I'd say that the implementation isn't using two-phase commit aware resources (XAResources) to coordinate modifications to the backend database table. If you're only using a single resource (message in your case) then it's fine to use raw JDBC and turn auto-commit off; the application or container can then use the JDBC driver commit or rollback operations to make the change to the table happen (or not). If you're doing multiple updates through the same JDBC driver within the same global transaction then this still works.
    I wonder if the implementation is somehow adding each message through a separate JDBC instance (even though to the same back end DM) and committing each prior to doing work on the next message. This commit may not be explicit. You may not even know it is going on: for example, if the back end db is Oracle, if you do a close on a JDBC connection which is running in a transaction then it will implicitly commit the transaction at that point.
    For instance:
    receive message
    get JDBC connection
    add message to table
    close JDBC connection (may be explicit or may be implicit via the container)
    <-- commit happens here in some cases
    receive message
    get JDBC connection
    add message to table
    What the implementation really should use is XADataSources and XAConnections to get XAResources that coordinate updates to the database. Or, make sure the same JDBC connection is used within the same transaction. This is more difficult to coordinate because of close.

  • EJB 3.0 MDB and transactions

    I'm trying to use an XA topic connection factory in my MDB, I was getting a "not supported in this release" error until I added this annotation to my MDB:
    @MessageDrivenDeployment(
    resourceAdapter = "myProviderInstance"
    But now my MDB is no longer dequeuing messages.
    I found the following in the docs (http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28221/undejdev010.htm#CCHGGHAE)
    --- BEGIN QUOTE FROM ORACLE DOCS ---
    If you use @MessageDrivenDeployment, you can configure message service options using nested @ActivationConfigProperty annotations or using @MessageDrivenDeployment attributes: @ActivationConfigProperty configuration overrides @MessageDrivenDeployment attributes.
    If you use @MessageDriven, you can configure message service options using nested @ActivationConfigProperty annotations only.
    If you configure using @MessageDrivenDeployment attributes, your application can only access a message service provider without a J2CA resource adapter. If later you decide to access your message service provider using a J2CA resource adapter, your application will fail to deploy. If you configure using nested @ActivationConfigProperty annotations, your application can access a message service provider with or without a J2CA resource adapter. Oracle recommends that if you configure using annotations, you should use the @ActivationConfigProperty approach.
    Example 2-6 shows both a @MessageDrivenDeployment and @MessageDriven annotation using @ActivationConfigProperty annotations for message service configuration. Note that the DestinationName activation configuration property in the @MessageDrivenDeployment annotation overrides that in the @MessageDriven annotation.
    Example 2-6 @MessageDriven and @MessageDrivenDeployment Annotation for a J2CA Message Service Provider
    import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
    import oracle.j2ee.ejb.MessageDrivenDeployment;
    import javax.ejb.ActivationConfigProperty;
    import javax.jms.Message;
    import javax.jms.MessageListener;
    @MessageDriven(
    activationConfig = {
    @ActivationConfigProperty(
    propertyName="DestinationName", propertyValue="OracleASjms/MyQueue"
    @MessageDrivenDeployment(
    activationConfig = {
    @ActivationConfigProperty(
    propertyName="DestinationName", propertyValue="OracleASjms/DeployedQueue"
    @ActivationConfigProperty(
    propertyName="ResourceAdapter", propertyValue="OracleASjms"
    --- END QUOTE FROM ORACLE DOCS ---
    So, instead of specifying the resource adapter as I had above, I simply pasted the last bit of annotations from the docs into my MDB, and much to my surprise I learned that you can't have an activationConfig in a @MessageDrivenDeployment
    What's the solution?

    OK, I got a little further. Everything works now as such
    I'm using the XA topic connection factory, I'm using the resource adapter.
    BUT, when I set the transaction required attribute on the MDB, I no longer receive messages.
    No errors are logged anywhere. Any suggestions?

  • MDB and Database - Listener port stops working

    Hi,
    I have created an MDB which does the following when a message is received from the queue.
    1. Store message in database
    2. do some processing
    At step 1, if there is any issue with the database connection (e.g. database is not available etc), I rollback transaction. My idea is to leave the message on queue for now and retry it again after some time unless the database is back again. "Maximum retries" of the listener port is set to N but since there is no retry interval available, all N retries are done in a flash and my listener port stops working. I cannot use backout mechanism as I have to wait for the database to be back again. What are my options?

    a simple JDBC rollback won't do it.
    which app server are you using?

  • Client dependent and client independent in ALE

    I am going through pdf learning of an ALE scenario,i couldnot get wat is meant by client Independent and client dependent.
    How can i conclude
    Create message type (WE81){color:green} Client independent {color}
    To create a new message type, follow these next few steps:
    u2022 Enter transaction WE81 (ALE -> Extensions -> IDoc types -> Maintain message type for intermed. Structure -> Create logical message type)
    u2022 Choose Create logical message type by double clicking on it
    u2022 Click on change icon to enter change mode
    u2022 Click on New entries to add a new type
    u2022 Enter the required message type, in our case it is ZINVRV and an appropriate description
    u2022 Save and exit.
    Your message type has now been created. The next step will be to link it to the IDoc.
    2.2.1. Link message to IDoc type (WE82 & BD69) {color:green} Client independent {color}
    To link the message type to the IDoc type follow these next few steps:
    u2022 Enter transaction WE82 (ALE -> Extensions -> IDoc types -> Maintain message type for intermed. Structure -> EDI: Message Types and Assignment to IDoc Types)
    u2022 Click on change icon to enter change mode
    u2022 Click on New entries to create the link
    u2022 Enter the message type ZINVRV and the BasicIDoc type as ZINVRV01
    u2022 Save and exit
    u2022 Enter transaction BD69 (ALE -> Extensions -> IDoc types -> Maintain message type for intermed. Structure -> Assign message type to IDoc for ALE)
    u2022 Click on change icon to enter change mode
    u2022 Click on New entries to create the link
    u2022 Enter the message type ZINVRV and the BasicIDoc type as ZINVRV01
    u2022 Save and exit
    Your IDoc is now linked to your message type. We still need to link object types and add the message to the model before we can use the message.
    2.2.2. Maintain object type for message type (BD59) Client independent
    The ALE objects are used to create links between IDocs and applications objects, to control the serialisation, to filter messages in the customer model and to use listings.
    For our own message type and IDoc you must maintain object types for the links.
    If you want to check the serialisation for the message type, then you must maintain object types for the serialisation. If no serialisation object has been maintained for a given message type, then the serialisation will not be checked for this message type.
    To add an object type to our message type, follow these next few steps:
    u2022 Enter transaction BD59 (ALE -> Extensions -> ALE object maintenance -> Maintain object types)
    DOC NAME: ALE_SCENARIO_DEVELOPMENT_PROCEDURE
    Version 1 Page 6 of 16
    ALE Scenario Development Guide
    u2022 Type in your message type ZINVRV and press enter
    u2022 Click on New entries
    u2022 Enter your object type, LIFNR (We need to use the vendor as a filter object), the segment name where LIFNR resides, Z1INVRV, a number 1 for the sequence followed by the actual field name LIFNR
    u2022 Save and exit.
    You have now created an object that weu2019ll use as a filter object in the customer model to direct the flow of messages to the various logical systems based on the vendors in the filter of the message type ZINVRV.
    We now need to add our new message type to the distribution model.
    2.3. Configuring the Distribution Model
    This task is performed on your ALE reference client.
    2.3.1. Manual Configuration (BD64) {color:green}  Client dependent {color}
    To manually configure the customer distribution model, read the ALE configuration procedure, and follow these steps:
    u2022 Perform the Maintain customer distribution model directly function. (ALE -> Distribution customer model -> Maintain customer distribution model directly)
    u2022 Specify the customer model you want to maintain and the logical system that is to be the sender of the messages OR create a new model. (Create model ALE with logical system ALELS1C400)
    u2022 Choose the receiving systems to which the sending system must forward message type ZINVRV to.
    u2022 For each receiving logical system allocate the message type necessary for communication to the receiving systems as per ALE configuration procedure.
    u2022 Create filter objects (in our case LIFNR as the object type with the associated vendor number, 0000018001 with leading zeros, in the object area) for the message types.
    u2022 Save the entries.

    A client is an independent business unit within an R/3 System, Data in the R/3 are classified as cleint-Dependent and client-independent.
    Client-independent data such as ABAP Programs, R/3 repository objects throught the entire system. Other data is client-dependent. meaning, it can be viewed from one client. Cleint-dependent data includes customizing application and user data.
    Eg.
    Scripts are client dependent, means the changes done to SAP scripts in particular client will not be reflected in other client.
    Smartforms are client independent, means changes done in one client will be reflected in all the clients.
    Server : ECC6
    Client : 100 , 200 , 300 , 400
    Now suppose you have developed report in DV server client 100.
    Then you will be able to see that in all clients.
    Hence this is called as client independent. You can change anywhere and changes will be reflected to all ...
    Now suppose you have developed a script in DV client 100.
    You will not be able to see that in client 200 or 300 or 400 unless ytou copy that from client since it is client dependent.

  • Ags_work_incident_create_app - Unable to maintain system and client

    Hi,
    When creating a support message from the Incident work center, the fields system and client are greyed out and thus not maintainable.
    I have no problems creating support messages using the SAPWEBGUI or through transaction NOTIFCREATE, it is only when using the work center. I do not have any other issues in the workcenter, I can display and change support messages.
    I have check the security settings and run a security trace which did not come up with anything.
    Any advice as to why these fields are greyed out would be greatly appreciated.

  • Return document picking wrong main and sub transaction @ FPL9

    Hi Mates,
    I need a help to find out the reason why return document is referring with wrong main and sub in our current client.
    Issue: when unpaid returns are posting with reference to payment document return document is posting by using main and sub transaction with previous cleared items.
    Ex:      2000200 Invoice document -  Main Transaction 0100 sub 0002
               3000300 Payment run document - Main Transaction 0610 sub 0010
    When return is posting with reference to 3000300 return document is referring 0100 and 0010, and new return document is updating with Billing and invoice text.
    Usually if return document is posted that should be refere the payment document 0610 and 0010 main & sub and invoice document 2000200 should be open.
    This is happening for all the main and sub cases and return document is referring with cleared items, in some cases it's posting currectly.
    I have validated at return lot specific level, posting type=cancel payment.
    some of business users are posted using posting type = new receiveble derived from payment.
    Second case we found many issues with refeernce wrong sub, but even 1st case also system is showing same.
    Kindly suggest.

    Hi Bogdan,
    Thanks for the reply.
    When SD invoices are transferred to FICA, the system checks whether entries maintained for account determination:
    1. Maintain Account Assignment Data Relevant to Transactions
    2. Derive Main/Sub Transaction from SD information
    3. Derive Document Type from SD Billing Document Data
    Thanks,

  • Provide ALE and IDOC Faqs and all Transactions

    Dear Experts,
    I am new to ALE & IDOC.
    Please provide ALE & IDOCs FAQs and all Transactions?
    Thanks in advance.

    <b>FAQS</b>
    A L E
    Q: Our IDOC remains in status 51 ( not posted) while testing ALE setup by passing DEBMAS02 Idocs. The message 'Field KNA1-BRSCH is not an input field'. This is the Industry key. What are we missing?
    A: Go to IMG - menu path IMG->LogisticsGeneral-> Logistics Basic Data: Business partners->Customers-> Control->Define Account groups and field selection for customer.
    Select sold-to or ship-to. Select General Data. Select control and double click. Industry key is found here. Change the option to 'Optional Entry'.
    Check OSS 5599. You may have to update view V_T078D also.
    E D I / IDOC
    Q:1 We created an EDI Vendor and created all required output conditions. However no IDOC is generated when PO is printed. Why?
    A: Go to Header->output for the PO. The output type shall be '6'. The status shall be '1'. If the status is '0' check the timing. If the status is '2' , go to 'GOTO->Processing Log' and the explanation for non-generation of IDOC can be seen.
    Q: How can we create / upload IDOC's from legacy system to SAP?
    A: Third party tool Mercator may be used to convert Legacy files to Idoc format. Mercator provides an IDOC tree import facility, SAP provides the export facility. You can transfer the Idoc layouts from SAP to Mercator automatically and then map.
    Q: We want to receive an outbound EDI 855 IDOC only if E2EDP20 -scheduling confirmation segment is present. Else get an "error" status preventing triggering the EDI subsystem.
    A: User exit logic has to be added in function IDOC_INPUT_ORDRSP.
    Set up a test flag and set it off when the IDOC header is read.
    Turn the flag ON when the EDP20 segment is read.
    Interrogate this flag when the next segment after EDP20 in the same IDOC comes in. If it is on ,you have an EDP20 coming in.
    Issue an error status 51 with suitable message for whichever condition you don't want the IDOC to be processed, This will stop the IDOC from posting.
    Q: Where ever PO is sent to the vendor via EDI, we want an acknowledgement of the PO by vendor. Which fields are updated and what should be my procedure?
    A: Execute Program: IDOC_INPUT_ORDRSP
    Process code: ORDR
    Message type: ORDRSP
    IDOC: ORDERS01
    The confirmation process allows the supplier to return an acknowledgment. Only Dates and quantities can be changed The information is stored in the PO and can be viewed via Item->Confirmation->Overview. The PO can be flagged as 'confirmation required' so that Pos without acknowledgement receipt can be monitored. Control keys and tolerances (days and quantities) have to be customized.
    Outbound:
    Step 1. Application document is created when transaction is saved.
    2. Message control is invoked.
    3. Messages are processed by system.
    4. Messages are Edited (if desired).
    5. Output (ALE / EDI) is checked
    6. Validate against Message control record from Partner Profile
    7. Application Document is saved.
    8. Entry NAST table is created for every selected output program
    along with Medium & Timing.
    9. Check for Process Immediately .
    If (yes)
    Determine Processing Program from TNAPR Table.
    ELSE

    12. IDoc is generated.
    13. Check for ALE Request.
    if (Yes)
    Perform Filters, Conversions, Version Changes etc.
    Else.
    IDoc is stored in DATABASE.
    INBOUND:
    Step 1. EDI Subsystem creates an IDoc file from EDI Messages
    2. Subsystem calls Functional Module EDI_DATA_INCOMING from startRFC program.
    3. Data in Control Record is validate against the Partner Profile.
    4. IDoc is generated in Database and syntax check is carried out.

  • Creating a MDB and Distributed Queue in Clustered env in weblogic 9.2

    I have created 3 managed servers and all these managed servers are in the cluster.
              Now i create JMS module for this cluster and create the Connection factory 'QUEUE_CF_8' and distributed Queue 'DIS_QUEUE_8' targeting to the cluster.
              I create a MDB and JMS client and deploy them in the cluster.JMS client sends the message to the distributed queue and MDB is listening to the distributed queue
              When i deploy the MDB , it is deploys perfectly . But when i run the client it fails with the following exception
              [java] javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve 'QUEUE_CF_8'. Resolved '' [Root exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve 'QUEUE_CF_8'. Resolved '']; remaining name 'QUEUE_CF_8'
              When i view the JNDI tree for all the managed servers , i can see the Connection factory and the distributed queue.
              Also i deploy the MDB to the cluster and no submoduletargets are specified.
              Let me know what is that iam missing.

  • Client dependent objects and client independent objects

    Hi Experts,
    Is there a way to find which objects are client dependent and which are client independent? Recently, I changed a small GUI settings in testing client and the changes were happened in production also automatically without a transport request, how can it be possible?
    How can I identify similar other objects changing whom it impacts other client w/o a transport request?
    Kindly share your views on it.
    Thanks a lot..
    Regards
    Saurabh

    Just small correction to Rahul answer - tables with field defined as data element MANDT are client dependent.
    Usualy that field will not be shown in SE16 and SE16N transactions but you will find it's definition in table definition in SE11 - ABAP Dictionary Maintenance transaction, content of this field is visible when clicking on icon

  • Significance of client specific and client indeprndent table

    Hi I am new to SAP world.
    I have just joined SAP-ABAP training.
    Plz let me know significance of client specific and client indeprndent table.
    Can we make client independent table in SAP IDES software.
    Is their any client independent table in SAP inbuilt tables .
    Thanks

    hi,
    A table can be either client-specific (applying only to a single client) or client-independent (applying to all clients in the SAP system).
    ·        Client-independent tables
    Client-independent tables contain data of general relevance, for example, SAP system control data, language indicators, and transaction codes.
    ·        Client-specific tables
    Data which only applies to one client is stored in client-specific tables.  Examples of client-specific tables are tables containing application data, tables containing information about the structure of a company, and, with a limited number of exceptions (for example, language indicators), tables containing basic commercial data.
    A table attribute in the Data Dictionary indicates whether a table is client-specific or client-independent (see also "Creating a Table Structure" in the ABAP/4 Dictionary guide).  In client-specific tables, the client is always entered in the first key position.
    hope this is helpful.
    pls reward if helpful.

  • Conntrans u2013 initialization error and Client console show no inbound queue

    Hallo,
    I installed Communication station and Client application to two computers. Test from Communication station to CRM is OK, test from client to Communication station is OK too. When I run Conntrans it show: u201CError during Conntrans initalizatin; contact system administratoru201D. In log file is:
    Exception in CGUIDlg::CreateComObjects_AltThread . Was comerror exception (Neplatný ukazatel hr:80004003); technical hint: Create InitPar NamedCollection</SESS_LOG_TEXT>
    </SESSION_ENTRY>
    Client console show me, that I have u201CNo unprocessed messages available in the queueu201D. But in transaction smq1 I have 923 entries to send to Mobile Client.
    I regenerate metadata, reassign siteID and did transaction table again, but still no messages in inbound queue.
    Configuration: CRM 2007, CRM Mobile Client 6.0 SP02.
    Can anyone help me please with these problems.
    Thank you very much.
    Jiri

    Hallo Wolfhard,
    thank you very much for your help and fast reply. I uninstall .NET 1.1 on client side (I had both .NET 1.1 and 2.0). Now I can run Conntrans. When I try synchronizaiton, it wrote "initializing transfer process" and after few second Conntrans fell down. In log is no error - everything have succeeded. I include ending part of log. In Client console inbound queue is the same.

    After I applied  note 1071267 on Client 6.0 SP02 I could not run Client Console. When I run it, I got "Failed to load control sbtstatus. Your version may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application". Conntrans after fix I can run, but it is the same as above - it will fell down after few second of synchronization.
    My version of librfc32.dll is newer, so I did not applied note 1074669.
    I will try to uninstall client side and apply note again to clean installation if it helps.
    Thank you very much. With regards
    Jirka
