MDT Wizard in installed OS

Hey,
I am having problem with MDT wizard in SCCM Task Sequence.
The Tasksequence ist started from currently installed OS (no PXE boot).
Then I try to display a wizard used like it is in MDT (see screenshot).
Unfortunately the wizard runs correctly (I see this in task manager running as system and in WinPE it works), but is not show to the current user.
I already tried to show it as a different account. This is working if the specific account is currently logged on.
If another account is logged on it of course is not shown to current session but to the other users session.
I think when I turn off UAC it will work, too - But based on security this is nothing I would like to do.
Does anyone know how to show up a wizard to currently logged on user?
This is the screenshot from TS-Step:
Thank you for help

Hi,
To be able to show a HTA from a Task Sequence you must use something that can show it like Serviceui.exe from MDT that are able to display the HTA in the user context. Here is an example on how to use ServiceUI.exe
http://ccmexec.com/2012/10/block-installation-of-non-supported-computer-models-in-configmgr/
Note that you must use the correct version of it that matches you architecture x64 or x86.

Jörgen

  • Question on how to Hide the User Name, Password, and Domain fields in the MDT Wizard

    MDT 2012 U1
    Deploying Windows 7 via Offline Media (ISO) to MS Virtual PC's
    I am looking on how to Hide the User Name, Password, and Domain fields which are prepopulated in the MDT wizard via the CS.ini (Not so concerned about the Domain field as I am User Name and Password)
    We do need the Computer Name and OU fields to be seen, so skipping the wizard is not a option
    The client just does not want these fields to be seen by the end users, they dont want them to even know the account name used for adding the machine to the domain, of course the password is not displayed but it must not be displayed either.
    But since we use the fields they must still  be fuctional just not seen.
    Thanks.....

    You shouldn't have to edit DeployWiz_Definition_ENU.xml. You should only need to add "SkipAdminPassword=YES" to the CS.ini file and your authentication information.
    Example:
    [Settings]
    Priority=Default
    Properties=MyCustomProperty
    [Default]
    OSInstall=Y
    SkipCapture=NO
    SkipAdminPassword=YES
    UserID=<MyUserID>
    UserPassword=<MyPassword>
    UserDomain=<MyDomain.com>
    SkipProductKey=NO
    SkipComputerBackup=YES
    SkipBitLocker=NO
    -Nick O.
    Nick,
    SkipAdminPassword=YES is for:
    You can skip the Administrator Password wizard page by using this property in the
    customsettings.ini.
    I am hidding the Username/Password/and domain field in the computer name Wizard pane which is read from the cs.iniDomainAdmin=xxxxx
    DomainAdminPassword=xxxxx
    DomainAdminDomain=xxxxxx
    JoinDomain=xxxxxx

  • Acrobat 9 Customization Wizard - Force Installed Language

    Hi,
    I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Customization Wizard to generate an .MST file to install Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 silently. I've selected in the wizard to install the product in French language. But when the product is installed, it's in English. The users have to manually change the setting in the Preference menu to get the French language.
    Is that a "known" bug ? Is there a workaround for it ?
    Thanks.
    Alex Nguyen

    first of all make sure the msi you create is indeed an English French and German installer and not just an English one.
    Easiest way to check is to see the Acrobat setup file directory which should included 1031.mst 1033 and 1036 mst files as well as the Acrobat msi file.
    The option you are referring to in the customization wizard only refers to the language during the installation, not the (UI) language of the installed application.
    One way of installing the French version would be to use a command line pointing to the customized mst as well as the required language mst file:
    msiexec /i AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS="1036.mst;custom.mst" /qb (or /qn or whatever you like)
    this will result in a french installation of Acrobat.

  • MDT Wizard very slow to start when launching Litetouch.vbs

    Hi,
    For a few months, I have an issue when launching Litetouch.vbs, the Wizard initialisation il very slow. Normaly it takes 20 to 30 seconds to launch, now it takes about 4 minutes. The wizard hang 3 times for 1.5 minute. The problem is present on
    many computers here and even on a brand new installed computer.
    Something strange, when the Wizard have been launched a first time, then closed. The next time I launch Litetouch.vbs, I is fast (20 to 30 seconds).
    When I check the LOG : C:\MININT\SMSOSD\OSDLOGS\BDD.log, the lines that seems to hang are :
    <![LOG[Property definition is now = BDD_Welcome_ENU.xml]LOG]!>
    <![LOG[Property definition is now = WelcomeWiz_Initialize.xml]LOG]!>
    <![LOG[Property definition is now = DeployWiz_Definition_ENU.xml]LOG]!>
    Does anyone have an idea what can be the problem ?
    Thanks!
    Dominic

    The lines that are running slow above are when MDT is trying to write to the variables.dat file. There is nothing special about this operation, it's just reading/writing to a text file.
    I still think there is something else on this machine that is causing the litetouch.wsf scripts to run slowly. Perhaps you have some anti-virus programs causing problems.
    Best way to isolate the problem is to load a clean version of windows on a machine (without any corporate apps), and try running MDT litetouch again.

  • MDT / UDI not installing applications

    I have an OSD task sequence and I have inserted some MDT components to utilize UDI for changing the computer name and installing applications.  I am able to change the computer name and install packages successfully using the UDI Wizard but I cannot
    install applications.
    The task sequence fails on the 'Convert list to two digits' step, if I disable this step then the task sequence will complete but no applications will install.
    I have tried creating new applications and they appear in the UDI Wizard but again nothing installs.
    Any help is greatly appreciated, I can post any logs/screenshots needed.

    Unfortunately I do not see a ZTICoalesce.log, only a ZTIGather.log and ZTISCCM.log but neither seem to show any errors.
    The task sequence appears to fail on the 'Convert list to two digits' step.  When I disable this step in the task sequence, the task sequence completes successfully and the package installs but not the applications.

  • Invalid Serial Number when using Customization Wizard to install Acrobat 8

    Hello. I'm trying to install Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional using the Customization Wizard to create a transform. The serial number is for the volume license product, and I put this number in the space provided in the Wizard. Whenever I remotely deploy the msi file and the user opens the program, I get the following error: "You have entered an invalid serial number. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and enter in a valid serial number when asked." The program then closes. This does not happen when I install from the CD.
    Each of the workstations is a Gateway E-4500S running Windows XP SP2. Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional is uninstalled prior to installation of Acrobat 8, and Acrobat 8 exists alongside Adobe Reader 8.1.1. No other Adobe products are installed apart from Flash Player.
    The following are the contents of the setup.ini file:
    [Startup]
    RequireOS=Windows 2000;Windows XP
    RequireMSI=3.0
    RequireIE=6.0.2600.0

    MinorVersion=1
    ServicePackMajor=2
    [MSI Updater]

    I've tried editing the setup.ini file to indicate the full path to the mst file, to no avail. Pretty much at the end of my rope right now. Any suggestions? I'll be happy to provide further information.

    Correct. The CD installation goes without a hitch. I'm using Attachmate WinInstall to try to deploy the software remotely. It worked fine for Adobe Reader 8.1.1, but it's been a bear for Acrobat 8. I'd be okay with a straight CD installation if it didn't involve fifty machines.

  • System exception running Configuration Wizard after installing several security updates for SP

    Greetings,
    Have a 2 server farm, SharePoint 2013 SP1, SQL and SharePoint. Windows Update has 15 updates downloaded and ready to install, 2 Server 2012 updates and 2 SharePoint updates, 11 Security Updates for SharePoint. So, I said yeah, go ahead and install them late
    last night when I figured it wouldn't interrupt folks. (dumb move)
    Windows Update took awhile, but no errors during the install. Rebooted the server as required. Once the server was back, jumped onto the server console and ran the Configuration Wizard to apply the updates to SharePoint. No problem, progressed through the
    screens saying it was going to update, farm and sql information, etc. Config Wizard was going through the steps, then failed with the message: "Failed to register SharePoint services." and here's a link to the configuration log so have a jolly time
    tracking it down, thank you very much.
    I found the error in the log (down about 10,000 lines):

    So I've been searching around trying to find a clue about this. I tried using PSConfig as well, no dice. I tried using my admin account, the farm account, and the initial setup account, no dice. So I gave in about 3:00 AM and took a break, rather than have
    my head hit the keyboard. Left IIS down and SP down. Had some help this morning when someone started things back up for me. sigh. So the users have been in on the sites and doing all sorts of important and critical things, so rolling back to the last
    backup is the last, last resort. (Fortunately, I did do a manual backup using a PowerShell script before starting all this.)
    Help. Please.
    The actual sites are up and seem to be working fine. Central Admin is down though, get a 500 Internal Server Error in the browser, so things aren't correct. Duh. The config wizard didn't finish.
    Thanks much,
    Steven

    0x80131904 translates to COR_E_SqlException. Typically this will be an MDF/LDF file out of space, or the volume that those files reside on being out of space. Check that first, then also check the SQLERROR log file for any issues.

  • MDT Application Package Install - Weird issue.

    Hi Guys,
    I've configured Windows 8.1 into MDT 2013 and everything seems to be going smoothly up until I try to stream Office 2013 365 into the image.  I looked into the bdd.log on the machine as it attempts to run it but fails and I'm seeing this -

    I'm pretty sure I can map Y: to the applications directory and fix this -- but my question is why is everything else pathing correctly to the network path but this install assumes that Y: is where it's stored?  I'm about to recreate it completely to
    see if it solves the issue.  It's most definitely failing because Y: is not mapped but it's looking to a mapped Y: path.  MDT is not showing a source directory on the package created.  Same goes for the applications inside of the package being
    installed.  Any ideas?  Thanks.
    Ryan

    Some install programs just don't like installing from UNC paths. It sucks. We also need to ensure that we have the correct credentials to connect to the network path.
    MDT works around these limitations by taking the UNC path for programs in ZTIApplications, and mapping a drive to the path. This action also uses the credentials to map the drive to the UNC path. Super!
    If MDT detects that a UNC path is *ALREAD* bound to a drive letter, it will skip over the step of mapping a new drive letter to the path, and use the path instead.
    *THAT'S* why MDT is attempting to use Y:.
    What we have not determined here is if Y:\Applications\Microsoft\Office\Microsoft_Office_2013\CTR actually exists when Y is mapped to the path in your applications entry.
    Please check again, and then re-check, and if you are unsure, check permissions, and double check again. Then from a client machine map to a share and verify again.
    I also can't check what your script is doing. Did it actually run? Do you have any logging in the script. Most likely the script never ran, and the 1 return code is because cmd.exe can't find the script.

  • [SOLVED] MDT 2013 - Package install (offline updates) - how to make it work?!

    Hello.
    Lack of documentation about offline update is really weird.
    I've installed WSUS, approved updates for Windows 7, made Package subfolder "WSUS_updates" at MDT 2013 and point it to c:\WSUS\WsusContent folder and got 160 updates as cab or msu files. Made MDT Selection Profile "WU" pointed
    to Packages\Wsus_updates.
    After that I've add new step to task sequence (fully tested many times before) to Preinstall\Install updates offine, just after "Inject drivers", with "WU" selection, fully update MDT share even with images regeneration,
    replaced new images at WDS.
    Test run - no one update got to OS during deployment!!
    and Final step shows 0 errors and 0 warnings.
    Really frustrated about this.
    Need any advice.
    thank you.

  • MDT/WDS Keep installing OS on the wrong disk, can't figure out why ?

    Everything in Task Sequence and Unnatend.xml  is set to install to
    Disk0 parition 1  (as default is)
    New Dell PC out of the box comes with two Disks (1 HDD and 1 SSD)
    SSD is Disk0 (Checked the motherboard and BIOS to see what disk are what) - 1st Boot priority
    HDD is Disk1.
    After booting from PXE/WDS and watchng Light Touch Installation progress I
    SEE it says Preparing Disk0 under the progress bar.
    After first reboot it boots to Disk0 as as it should and then it says no boot loader found.
    If i go to boot options and Boot from Disk1 it boots to Windows and conttinues with deployment.
    If I disconnect Disk1 from motherboard it all installs perfectly.
    Why is this happening ?

    Add the raid drivers first, not convinced it will help but give it a go (You should add them anyway).
    If not, I believe Mark Thomas' solution should help you out.

    Update:  I learned on the MS site that I have worm:Win32/Kaaneut.A worm. It lets Media Center take over, Restore system won't work, etc.  I would like to try removing since I am having a problem un-stalling Win7.
    Help again, Jerry (if you are there.) As suggested a day ago, I am going to re-install Windows 7 but because of the problem with the Media Center taking over my computer, I am more than confused now. I have all the discs suggested by Toshiba when I bpught it and have even did a re-install a few years ago. Now, I don't know where to start with these discs. I would appreciate any help.  My Toshisa is a Satellite L555-S7005. Thanks, Gaye
