Meaning of wave line in TRANSLATE  lv_text using '~'

Hi Sir/Madam,
I have a question of the meaning of wave line "~" in      TRANSLATE l_v_buffer USING '~'.
I debuged in the process of this statement,
It is seems that the work area (lwa_output) did not changed.
I konw how does the demo in SAP ABAPDOCU work, but I do not know what the wave used for here?
    CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_OTF_2_PDF'

*   as attachment
     REFRESH fp_lt_pdf[].
     LOOP AT lt_pdf_output INTO lwa_output.
       TRANSLATE lwa_output USING '~'.
       CONCATENATE l_v_buffer lwa_output INTO l_v_buffer.
     ENDLOOP.
     TRANSLATE l_v_buffer USING '~'.
     DO.
       l_wa_contpdf = l_v_buffer.
       APPEND l_wa_contpdf TO fp_lt_pdf.
       SHIFT l_v_buffer LEFT BY 255 PLACES.
       IF l_v_buffer IS INITIAL.
         EXIT.
       ENDIF.
     ENDDO.
   ENDIF.
... USING pattern
Effect
If you specify USING, the characters in text are converted according to the rule specified in pattern. pattern must be a character-type data object whose contents are interpreted as a sequence of character pairs. text is searched for the first character of each pair, starting with the first pair, and each location found is replaced with the second character of the pair. The search is case-sensitive. If pattern contains a character multiple times as the first character of a pair, only the first pair is taken into account. A character in text that has already been replaced cannot be replaced again in the same TRANSLATE statement. Therefore, if the second character of a pair in pattern appears as the first character of a subsequent pair, the second pair affects only the original characters in text.
Trailing blanks in data objects text and pattern are taken into account for data objects. If pattern contains an uneven number of characters, the last character is ignored. If pattern is a blank string, no replacements take place.
Example
Converts the characters "A" to "B", "a" to "b", and vice versa. text contains "Abracadabra" after the conversion.
DATA text TYPE string.
text = `Barbcbdbarb`.
TRANSLATE text USING 'ABBAabba'.
Regards

Hi Feiyu
It`s should be
LOOP AT lt_pdf_output INTO lwa_output.
       TRANSLATE lwa_output USING '[space]~'.
       CONCATENATE l_v_buffer lwa_output INTO l_v_buffer.
     ENDLOOP.
     TRANSLATE l_v_buffer USING '~[space]'.

Archer

  • Reading Multiple lines in a file Using File Adapter

    Hi All,
    Iam new to this technology.How to read multiple lines in a file using file adapter.Brief me with the methodology.

    I didn't look at anything else but if you want to write more than one line ever to your file you should change this
    out = new FileOutputStream("Calculation.log");to this...
    out = new FileOutputStream("Calculation.log",true);A quick look at the API reveals the follow constructor FileOutputStream(File file, boolean append) append means should I add on the end of the file or over-write what is there.
    By default you over-write. So in our case we say true instead which says add on to what is there.
    At the end of that little snippet you shoudl be closing that stream as well.
    So where you have
    p.close();You should have
    p.close();
    out.close();

  • Cannot create opportunity lines for an opportunity using Web Services 2.0

    When working with Web Services 2.0 API every object is exposed without any child objects, this means that if we want to query/update/create/delete child objects that child object has to be exposed via WSDL.
    I searched for the opportunity lines child object (also known as revenue lines) in the available WSDL's in the application and also in the documentation and I can’t find it anywhere.
    I also checked the opportunity WSDL and it does not contain any reference to the opportunity lines?
    How do I create opportunity lines for an opportunity using the Web Services 2.0 API???

  • Display Long field Description in 2 lines in Header when using REUSE_ALV_HI

    Hi,
      I am using REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY .
    I need to have 2 lines in the header to display  long field descriptions like
    Ex   Shipment Notification Idoc or Billing Document Cancel  should appear as
    Shipment Notification       Billing Document
    Idoc                                        Cancel
    Is there a way of doing this when calling the above ALV function?
    Thanks
    Prashant

    Hi Prashanta ,
    We can give headers in ALV using short/medium/long text.
    And this comes in one line. You can use short/medium text, if possible.
    Hence , having 2 lines in the header to display long field descriptions is not possible.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Creating Schedule lines in Scheduling agreement using LSMW

    Hi,
    I want to upload multiple schedule lines in scheduling agreement using LSMW. I have done the recording and maintained multiple lines in input file. However during execution LSMW creates only one line and keeps on ovewritting the same line. Please let me know how can I create multiple schedule lines.
    Regards

    First you should search for existing standard LSMW migration objects that possibly cover your scenario. These normally take care of complex header / multiple items / multiple subitems relations.
    With a recording you can only load flat structures. Sometimes a "create new  lines" / "enter first line" / "save transaction" logic can be constructed to load multiple items to a header (or even subitems to an item?) with a recording, but this can be pretty awkward.

  • Amount in Bar Code is incorrect;Amount in the line item can be used instead

    We have a problem in our Brazil company code.
    When we have a document with value higher than 5,000.00 BRL it is subject to Pis/cofins tax. In the Boleto (paper) document the amount is after tax deducted. But we see the full amount in the Vendor line item in SAP
    When the system reads the bar code and saves this code in the vendor line item during the document change we get a warning message no."8B797: Amount in Bar Code is incorrect;Amount in the line item can be used instead".
    And the amount in the Barcode line automatically adjusts itself to the line item amount which is the pre-tax amount (full amount).
    Example: Amount in the SAP Invoice doc is R$ 6,268.72
                   Amount in Boleto (paper) R$ 5,977.22   (after deducting PIS/COFINS) - This amount appears in the bar code but once we press enter after the warning message it automatically adjusts to R$ 6,268.72 .
    We tried few notes like 784748 to apply but it says it is obsolete. We are on ECC 6.0 Release level 11.

  • Need help in how to print new line character in unix using java

    Hi All,
    I use the printstream class to print some line in a text using java.
    here is the code:
       FileOutputStream out; // declare a file output object
            PrintStream p; // declare a print stream object
                    p.print("\t");
                    p.print(date);
                    p.print("\t\t");
                    p.print(RecCount);
                    p.println("\n");when i use this and output of this character in windows is
    date RecCount
    22-07-2007 23456
    when i use the same code in unix it shows the following output:
    date RecCount[]22-07-2007
    it wont accept the new line character could any one give me an idea to solve this problem.

    PrintStream has a println() method. Use that. Or System.getProperty("line.separator").
    Because a newline char doesn't necessarily specify a line break. It's system-dependent.

  • Translate string using hex(0020) in Unicode system.

    Hello all,
    We are facing a problem of the "translate" statement in the Unicode system.
    The original statement goes as follows:
    TRANSLATE BULOG USING WS_STRING1.
    Here  BULOG is a structure and ws_string1 is declared as follows:
    DATA : ws_string1(2) type x value '0020'.
    On compilation in the new system which is Unicode enabled, the above mentioned statement removes all the '#' placed in the structure.
    We tried the following statement instead of the original TRANSLATE statement.
    TRANSLATE BULOG USING SPACE.
    But this statement leaves the '#' unchanged.
    We have already REPLACE statement after converting the structure contents into a string.
    We have also tried the convert methods of the classes CL_ABAP_CONV_IN_CE and CL_ABAP_CONV_OUT_CE.
    Hoping to receive a fast response.
    Thanks in advance.
    Zankruti.

    You might want to read ABAP Help on TRANSLATE:
    Addition 2
    ... USING  pattern
    Effect
    If you specify USING, the characters in text are converted according to the rule specified in pattern.
    pattern must be a character-type data object whose contents are interpreted as a sequence of
    character pairs.
    Your option 1 is not working because type X is "Byte field", technically it's not a character-type. Your option 2 is not working because <pattern> must be a sequence of character pairs (you had just SPACE).
    In Option 1 just change the definition from X to C or STRING.

              Hi Guys
              Problem is almost certainly because I've gone and defined the get as returning
              an int, (hence no property!)

  • How to make smooth line by brush tool using shift key?

    Heya, I have a short question. Is there a way to make smooth line by brush tool using shift key, without that characteristic dot on the begining? I'm using PS CS6 on Win7.
    http://i.imgur.com/orGsIwv.jpg
    Cheers

    The shift key constrains the brush to paint a straight line. Those dark spots you see are from two paint strokes overlapping each other. If the flow or opacity of the brush is not at 100% you can see the stroke below it.
