Media Container

Looking at the "basics of video playback" example here:  http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_osmf.html
With comments, blank lines removed, there are 24 lines of code.
When we can trim it down to 9-10, and the MediaPlayer is truly a media player; being able to handle, image, video, or sound, then I'll be excited.  I've my own implementation of a media-container, that unifies the code to load, display, and control these 3 media types.  If I can be of any assistance, I'd love to help.  It is really easy to do, and has greatly improved my dev-time when building interactive media-based apps.  The code to load, display, and control an image, is the same as a video, is the same as sound.  Of course an image doesn't necessarily utilize play/pause/seek events, but you can attach functions if for example you want an image to fade in/out on play/stop events.
import flash.events.*;
import cayennecode.media.MediaObject;
var url:String = 'rsrc/someFile.mp4';
var player:MediaObject = new MediaObject({autoRewind:false});
     player.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
     player.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
addChild(player);
     player.load(url);

Just peeked at the OSMF API Reference and saw the Audio/Image classes.  Glad you guys are doing more than just video with OSMF.
With my own media-container implementation; if you're loading a media-file through a gateway, you load the resource like this.
import flash.events.*;
import cayennecode.media.MediaObject;
var url:String = 'media/gateway.php';
var player:MediaObject = new MediaObject({autoRewind:false});
     player.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
     player.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
addChild(player);
     player.load(url, {filename:someFile.mp4, key:someKeyReceivedOnLogin});

  • The folder path iTunes media contains an invalid character. How can I fix this so I can install itunes

    the folder path iTunes media contains an invalid character comes up when I try to install itunes does anyone know how to fix this an why it happened an stopped itunes working ?

    Try the following user tip:
    "not a valid short file name" and "invalid character" install errors

  • Packaging error 2 (The media contains invalid NALU length)

    Hi,
    I am trying to publish live stream from Adobe Flash client that can be viewed on iOS device.  One known issue is that the Flash client does not support AAC audio encoder when it publishes a stream, but AAC is required for iOS viewing.  Thus I am using ffmpeg to transcode the audio to work around this issue.  The setup looks like following:
                                     Publish(h.264+Speex)      Pull               Re-Publish(h.264+AAC)
    Flash Client Publisher -------------------> AMS -----> ffmpeg ---------------------> AMS
    The command line I use for ffmpeg is like this:
    ffmpeg -re -i rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/livepkgr/orgstream -c:v copy -c:a aac -strict -2 -f flv rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/livepkgr/livestream
    This setup works perfectly if the original stream is published by Flash Media Live Encoder client.  However, if the stream is published by a web page using Flash ActionScript client, the iOS won't play the stream.  The root cause is that HLS module failed to generate the proper TS file. I get the following error in the Apache server log.
    [Sat Aug 17 15:56:50 2013] [error] mod_hlshttp [500]: Packaging error 2 (The media contains invalid NALU length) when processing /hls-live/streams/livepkgr/events/_definst_/livestream/livestreamNum0.ts
    I've tried various things to narrow down the possibilities regarding what could be wrong.  Here are some of my observations:
    1) The problem has nothing to do with audio.  If I do audio streaming only, it works well.  So in various experiement, I simplified the problem by doing video stream only.  When using ffmpeg to transcoding, I used '-an' to disable audio stream.
    2) If I use ffmpeg to save the stream into MP4 file first (say 1 minute long), and then publish that file, I got the same issue when iOS device is trying to retrieve content.  The MP4 file generated is fine though.  I can view it using VLC.
    3) If I use ffmpeg to transcode H.264 to H.264 (i.e. Not to use the "copy" transcoder), it then will work.  However, because of the CPU usage constraints in my requirement, I cannot adopt this approach. Here is the command line that works:
    ffmpeg -re -i rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/livepkgr/orgstream  -vcodec libx264 -b:v 1000k -c:a aac -strict -2 -f flv rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/livepkgr/livestream
    4) In all those experiments, the m3u8 file are generated correctly.  In the stream directory I always saw meaningful size for f4f and f4x files.
    5) The iOS client is able to view the original stream fine if the original stream is H.264 video only stream. (The 'orgstream', not the one republished by ffmpeg).
    6) In all those experiements, a regular Flash viewer client is able to play the live stream with no issue.
    Since I don't have access to source code to the Apache module for HLS (mod_hlshttp), I don't know how to proceed further. I appreciate any help from Adobe engineering team who have access to source code, and give me some hint what could go wrong.  I can also provide further information regarding the published stream, e.g. the generated MP4 if it can help.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Jason

    The one thing you didn't do is reset your Photoshop preferences.
    Most likely the preferences got corrupted, and reference a corrupt preset.

  • What does the recovery CD contain - Satellite A100-847

    Hello guys
    I had a few questions about the recovery CD:
    1- What does the recovery CD contain? and the other CD which is called Media something?
    2- Does it have Windows in it? So I can format my PC using it? And from where can i find the product key (windows key)
    3- What if i wanted to use the CD without formatting? etc. installing the softwares?
    Sorry for asking too much but my laptop started disturbing me. Just for knowledge my Laptop is satellite A100-847

    Hello
    I will try to answer your question.
    1 Recovery media contains recovery image. Recovery image is a kind of package that contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba tools and utilities and some additional software like WinDVD or Norton antivir application. Media something is not known to me. Maybe exact description can help.
    2 Yes it has Windows OS. Yes you can format your notebook using it. You do not need product key. Just install it.
    3 I do not know what you mean. The fact is that HDD will be formatted before you start recovery installation. Be sure all your important data are saved on some external device.

  • Conforming and Indexing Errors, Media Pending, Audio won't play in timeline

    I'm working on a desktop PC which is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Adobe Premiere Pro (version CS5.5). It's currently utilizing a second gen. 3.4Ghz i7 2600 processor, 16GB of 1600Mhz RAM, 64GB solid-state drive and a ASUS P8Z68-V Intel Z68 Motherboard with onboard audio (Realtek ALC892 chipset) and onboard video. My problem is this:
    The conforming and indexing of all of my imported media never seems to finish regardless of how many times I reopen the project file and wait for it. On the lower right-hand portion of the screen, next to the conforming/indexing progress bar, is a little red "X". When clicked, it pops up with a list of errors that read: "An unexpected error occurred while performing a conform action on the following file...". As a result, my audio channels have no waveform and during playback there are no audible tones or levels. On some video clips there's just text that reads "Media Pending". This only appears to happen with project files that I saved on external hard drives, and I suspect it has something to do with the Media Cache Files folder and how Premiere Pro locates these conform/index files. I've also encountered this problem in CS3 and CS4.
    I have a few questions:
    1) How do I avoid error messages in regards to indexing and conforming
    2) How do you know when indexing/conforming has completed itself? (there doesn't seem to be a progress log or a list of commands/executions)
    3) Indexing and conforming appears to be an automatic process, but is there a way to do it manually?
    4) What's the best way to setup your media cache files when you click EDIT > PREFERENCES > MEDIA?
    5) If I have approximately 1 hour of footage, what's an average wait time for conforming/indexing? What about 5 hours of footage? 10?
    6) Adobe recommends not editing until the conforming and indexing has completed itself-- how important is this?
    7) Sometimes it appears as though the conforming and indexing has finished, but then I still have problems with playback. Do I have to reopen the project for it to continue with the conforming/indexing progress? I've already determined that the video file I'm working with is intact and free of any corruption.
    I'm fine with having to wait for a project to conform and index, but it never seems to complete itself! Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Harm filled in pretty much all the salient details, but I'll do another pass here.
    1) How do I avoid error messages in regards to indexing and conforming
    Two parts here.  One, conforming only happens for certain media files, ie the ones where performance is critical and we can't depend on extracting the audio fast enough for realtime playback.  That's basically anything in an .mpeg wrapper, or AVCHD material.  So if you edit XDCAM HD/EX or P2, or RED, or even AVIs or QT, those formats don't require audio conforming.
    If you're stuck editing AVCHD or MPEG2, then it needs to conform.  But, that being said, you shouldn't be getting errors in the first place. I think it's related to your external drives.  More below...
    2) How do you know when indexing/conforming has completed itself? (there doesn't seem to be a progress log or a list of commands/executions)
    Nope, you have a progress status bar indicating which file it's working on.  If there's an error, it shows up in the events panel.
    3) Indexing and conforming appears to be an automatic process, but is there a way to do it manually?
    No.
    4) What's the best way to setup your media cache files when you click EDIT > PREFERENCES > MEDIA?
    While some people like having the check box for having the conform files beside the media, I hate it.  Yes, it means that if you move the project to a different system & reopen, it means that you potentially can avoid recreating CFA files, but I find the drive littering not worth it.  I much prefer having setting the Media prefs to point to a specific media drive.  Usually a raid, if available.  Definitely not an external drive that you disconnect & walk away with.  If you don't have a permanent raid on your system, then preferably a dedicated internal drive for media (think along the lines as your Photoshop 'scratch disk').  Failing that, leave it on your C: drive, although with a 64 Gig SSD, you probably don't have much room for transient temporaries.
    5) If I have approximately 1 hour of footage, what's an average wait time for conforming/indexing? What about 5 hours of footage? 10?
    Like Harm said.  Totally dependant on the media container & the speed of your drive i/o.  The conforming is iterating through the entire file & pulling audio data, so it's not CPU intensive, it's all i/o.
    6) Adobe recommends not editing until the conforming and indexing has completed itself-- how important is this?
    If you're trying to play/scrub while conforming, it's going to be pokey.  Esp. if you're trying to access the file that's actively being conformd.  As I just said, we're hitting the files for all the audio.  The i/o is being saturated already, so unless you have a stellar raid, you don't have much headroom.
    7) Sometimes it appears as though the conforming and indexing has finished, but then I still have problems with playback. Do I have to reopen the project for it to continue with the conforming/indexing progress? I've already determined that the video file I'm working with is intact and free of any corruption.
    You should be good to go.  Sounds like there's something else at play here.
    Okay, back to what I think is wrong:  you don't mention what kind of external drives you're using.  You're making a bad assumption that blowing away conformed files & doing a reconform is buggy - I doubt it, as that's the same process that happened when you initially brought in the files.  I've blown away my media cache folder multiple times and have never seen failures on reconform.  So it's got to be one of two things:  either a read error from the source when attempting to pull the audio, or a write error to the destination.  Now I don't know where you currently are pointing the media cache directory, or what your source drive is, so I can only speculate.
    My suggestion is to do some elimination.   Copy one of the files that failed on you to your C drive, & target your media cache directory also to C:.  Pick a new project, import your copied file, confirm that it conforms correctly & behaves.   Then, try to use the same clip from your external drive, keeping the media cache to C:.  If that's still good, then try targeting another (local/internal) drive as your media cache target; close/restart, then import the clip from C:, and then import the clip from your external drive.  This troubleshooting should give us something.
    PS, if you're trying to edit from external USB drives, good luck.  I find it a major PITA that I avoid as much as possible.  Firewire isn't much better.  I know some people do it successfully, but I think it's a road fraught with peril.  These devices are generally not designed for heavy duty I/O and a flaky connection or drive is nothing but pain.
    Cheers

  • Acrobat Media Disk install question

    My question is if there is any fundamental difference between the optical media contained in boxed products of Acrobat and the media kits that come with volume licensing agreements.
    IE: Can you install a license using a volume license key with boxed product media.
    If not why not? With product activation this would not make sense to me.

    Historically the volume license versions have sometimes differered
    from the retail versions, not only in packaging, but technically. For
    example, with Terminal Server systems, you needed the Volume License
    version of Acrobat Professional 7.0, as the retail version did not
    work.

  • Media pending, audio works, please help.

    Suddenly Adobe premier does't show any video any more (in any window of the project layout).
    All clips are linked correctly and are verified by the project windows - all audio of the clips plays correctly.
    This happened after (several manipulations after) it crashed while exporting media containing stacked titles and two simple .tiff pictures (I know it dosn't like stacked pics, so I don't use them much as it always crashes.
    Now, the project worked when I removed my still picture stack, so I added them again one-by-one. This time it didn't give a crash message but simply stopped showing ANY video.
    I am in a terrible situation now as I have deadlines to meet.
    I have reloaded the project, I have tried prevous projects, they all refuse to show any video.
    All clips are linked, the time line moves and plays audio, the effect control recognizes all clips.
    HELP !! Please.

    Thanks for your question:
    1.  I layer still images for example to have several small pics in different places over the video. That's the most straightforward - in this case, 1 or 2 layers, might work without crashing.
    2. I can use png, tiff, jpg, the resut is the same.
    3. Situation gets worse with increasing file resolution (size or colour depth).
    4. Adding simple FX like cropping (which is the most used FX for still pics) will crash very early.  I can can crop stacked video all day with no crashes.
    In the current example I was stacking 6 titles of one word, made within Adobe Premier, and making them move around using position and rotate. That worked fine, and then I added two images made of small screen shots of single colour shapes. Everything went ok, even the rendering (which is where often it crashes already). Then the crash I describe above happened when the export encoding was taking place.
    Now, before my post I had re-loaded and it still didn't work, and no project would display video media - which is why I panicked - now I reloaded a second time and it works again. But for how long?
    Clearly I need to get gto the bottom of this, but how to proceed ?
    So far I have not had a crash by using video only - incuding stacked videos.
    One thing I noticed which might be a clue is that when trying to import a high resolution picture, Adobe Premier simply gives an error message that the file is to big and unsupported - 'Final Cut' in that situation would ask if it is ok to use a lower resolution and proceed to downsize it.
    All of this is daily bread and was so simple and stable with 'Final Cut', I cannot believe that Adobe would have difficuty doing these things - maybe it is an Adobe/Mac thing, but then I have the fast i-Macs (2 of the 27"models with 24GB cache) , Intel chips and all the recommended grahics cards and kit.
    Is there perhaps a system configuration using external discs for selected functions which would help?  Or is there a configuration that defines cache versus disc, etc?
    Thanks to all (and Adobe if you read this) if you can help - can't believe I am the only one.
    Best wishes,
    marco

  • Reduce size of Server 2012 Media

    Looking to deploy Server 2012 R2 with Configmgr.
    However, the source files are massive and I notice that it contains all the files for Standard (Core / GUI) and Datacenter (Core / GUI)
    Is it possible to remove any files so that i just have Standard with GUI??
    Peter

    However, the source files are massive and I notice that it contains all the files for Standard (Core / GUI) and Datacenter (Core / GUI)
    Well, that's misleading. The media contains all those versions, but they are stored in that .wim file. It uses kind of single instance storage, so that disk space usage is already optimized. You won't gain much if you were able to remove them.

  • MouseEvents from an OSMF Container

    I have a player that contains a MediaContainer that has been added to stage.
    I'd like to be able to listen for MouseEvents when that container is clicked on; and I'd rather not have to use a fake object, or a general listener in which I have to exclude other objects.
    I used the mediacontainer itself, and MouseEvent.CLICK doesn't seem to be fired from it, even though the notes say it should.
    I've tried using the DisplayObject trait of my media, and that doesn't fire MouseEvents.
    I then took the standard straight from the MediaContainerExample implementation:
    and added a listener for the container click event.
    And nothing happens.
    package
        import flash.display.Sprite;
        import flash.events.MouseEvent;
        import org.osmf.containers.MediaContainer;
        import org.osmf.elements.VideoElement;
        import org.osmf.media.MediaPlayer;
        import org.osmf.media.URLResource;
        public class MediaContainerExample extends Sprite
            public function MediaContainerExample()
                super();
                // Construct a video element:
                var resource:URLResource = new URLResource("http://mediapm.edgesuite.net/strobe/content/test/AFaerysTale_sylviaApostol_640_500_short.flv");
                var video:VideoElement = new VideoElement(resource);
                // Construct a media container, and add it to the stage.
                var mediaContainer:MediaContainer = new MediaContainer();
                mediaContainer.width = 640;
                mediaContainer.height = 500;
                addChild(mediaContainer);
                // Add the video as a child of the media container:
                mediaContainer.addMediaElement(video);
                // Play back the video:
                var player:MediaPlayer = new MediaPlayer();
                player.media = video;
                mediaContainer.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onMediaContainerClick)
             private function onMediaContainerClick(me:MouseEvent):void{
                   trace ("Clicked on the Video!!!");
    I have not found any trait that is a subclass of InteractiveObject; so pulling from traits doesn't seem to work.
    One example I found from the forums talked about the Viewable (IViewable?) trait which I don't believe is still a part of OSMF 1.0.
    Is there a new solution to this issue?
    Thanks.
    -Will

    For some reason trying that example again - it's now responding - don't know what changed between the first compile and when I tried again but oh well. Stepping back it appears that I've done something in the Flex application that's capturing the event.
    Thanks Ryan for compiling it to look into it.

  • Removing unused media files?

    I tend to move slides between presentations often, and as a result I have multiple copies of media files (movies, photos, etc.) all in the presentation package. Often, if a slide is deleted, the media contained on that slide is still present in the package. Does anyone know of an easy way to remove unused media files? I'm doing this to help keep the file size down, as it's getting seriously unwieldy. Thanks

    Not that I know of...I miss one option that some graphic programs have... collect on output. It will collect all linked files and place them in the same folder of you finial file. I wish a lot of programs had this function. Would save time hunting down associated files that you can't remember where you put them...
    I know this doesn't help you...sorry.

  • Qosmio G20 Vista drivers? Not needed to install Windows Vista

    Hello,
    I am new at this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in Brazil. I own a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
    To do this, you must perform a fresh install of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100),for audio (Soundmax), for TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (toshiba modem), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install Toshiba nvidia display driver, Toshiba Bluetooth (monitor and stack), Toshiba texas flash media driver, toshiba RAID (driver and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
    You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.
    Below some pictures of my G20 Desktop screen:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen1.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen2.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen3.jpg
    And here is an example of using deskscapes animated backgrounds with Windows Vista, called dreamscene.
    It is in paused mode
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen4.jpg
    To perform a fresh install of windows Vista:
    Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar
    1. Copy the contents of this archive onto a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    3. Power on your computer and press F12 to display the boot menu.
    4. Choose the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    5. On the first setup screen, choose your language options then press "Next".
    6. Press "Install Now".
    7. Type in your Product Key then press "Next".
    8. Accept the license terms by checking the box then press "Next".
    9. When asked "What type of installation do you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    10. When asked "Where do you want to install Windows", make sure your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, then click on "Load Driver".
    11. Browse to the location you have copied the RAID drivers to then press "OK".
    12. Setup will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
    13. Make sure the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected then press "Next".
    14. Continue the installation of Windows Vista as normal.
    Now you will need the Toshiba drivers for your Qosmio G20:
    See the Device manager info:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmiodrivers1.jpg
    Drivers:
    1. SD memory controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/SD_memory.rar
    2. Bluetooth monitor and stack
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_mon.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
    4. Texas FlashMedia controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/flasmedia.rar
    And finally the Toshiba utilities:
    Toshiba Configfree
    Toshiba Assist
    RAID utilities
    Remote control manager
    Toshiba SD Memory utilities
    That's it...
    So I must tell to you that Toshiba Qosmio G20 is Windows Vista Ultimate capable, indeed.
    Hope this helps people who need and want to install Windows Vista Aero on their Qosmio G20 machines.

    UPDATED POST: On March 08, 2007
    This is a step by step guide for those of you with problems to get Windows Vista functional on your G20 Qosmios
    Use a Windows Vista English Version RTM Ultimate 6000 DVD for installation.
    1 Backup your personal files and important data to a removable device, CD, DVD, flashmedia, pendrive, etc...
    2.Check your Qosmio player installation. if nedeed, reinstall it with the latest version (multilanguage), posted on Toshibas site (download drivers section).
    3.Download and copy the Toshiba RAID drivers to a removable media
    Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar
    4.To perform a fresh install of Windows Vista, Follow the steps below
    -1. Copy the contents of this archive onto a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    -2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    -3. Power on your computer and press F12 to display the boot menu.
    -4. Choose the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    -5. On the first setup screen, choose your language options then press "Next".
    -6. Press "Install Now".
    -7. Type in your Product Key then press "Next".
    -8. Accept the license terms by checking the box then press "Next".
    -9. When asked "What type of installation do you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    -10. When asked "Where do you want to install Windows", make sure your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, then click on "Load Driver".
    -11. Browse to the location you have copied the RAID drivers to then press "OK".
    -12. Setup will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
    -13. Make sure the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected then press "Next".
    -14. Continue the installation of Windows Vista as normal.
    5. Go to Microsoft update and download all important updates available. If you wish you can install your native language, if other than English, from the Microsoft site.
    let Windows install all the drivers found for your Qosmio G20.
    6. Reboot your machine and follow with the steps below.
    DRIVERS YOU MUST INSTALL:
    1. Alps pointing device driver (This is from Alps and working fine with your Qosmio G20)
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/alpsdriver.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmioalps.jpg
    During the installation, Windows will complain that you are installing an early device driver. Do not attempt to this, Install it anyway.
    This is because the Windows driver for this device is originally installed with a more recent date and version from that you are trying to install.
    But the driver posting here is the correct from the Alps for your Qosmio g20.
    2. Bluetooth monitor and stack
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_mon.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
    To install the nvidia 97.52, you must do it manually:
    open the Device manager
    look for the Video adapter/nvidia Gforce go6600
    Driver update options
    Look for a driver in computer

  • Luactivate 'succeeds' but then new BE does not show up in GRUB menu

    Hi,
    I'm trying to do a live upgrade from S10 u6 to u7.
    The machine is a Sun v20z (which is an x64 box).
    The only file system is ZFS, which consists of two drives that forming one pool, "rpool".
    I use the Service Processor/LOM over SSH to monitor the status of the console and GRUB menu.
    I did everything as directed and everything seemed to check out OK, but no matter what, the new BE never shows up on the GRUB menu! It's driving me nuts! PLEASE HELP!

  • Upgrade from SCM 5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1 (with NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1)

    Hi folks,
    we are trying to upgrade our SCM5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1. There seems to be a problem in the phase, where SAPup is trying to detect the needed CDs / DVDs. SAPup recognizes that "FRP" is used within the system. There appears a dialog to enter the mount points for the DVDs required for the upgrade.
    It says <<Enter at least the mount point for the DVD titled "FRP Software DVD">>. All other needed media is accepted, but not the DVD with the FRP-Software.
    SAP Note "1300960"  explains, that as of SAP Business Suite 2008 onward, no media without a MID.XML file will be accepted for upgrades (e.g. media containing Add-Ons).
    I have opended a message to SAP Support, but there is no solution / workaround until now. I cannot skip the phase and therefore it is not possible to launch / continue the entire upgrade.
    SAPup Version is "7.10/7, build 31.010 for UNICODE"
    Has anyone faced the same problem with no-MID.XML based media?
    Thank you for any advice!
    Kind regards,
    Marcel Jentsch

    Hi,
    We just upgraded from SCM 5.0 to 7.0 sp9.
    You need not deactivate the DP planning areas before upgrade.
    We did not face any issues because of this.
    Regards,
    Ashok

  • Can't activate windows vista

    I am trying to install Windows Vista Business (retail boxed) 64 bit.  The box didn't include 64 bit media and so I've downloaded it from technet. The install asks for the product key but it is not accepted "your product key cannot be validated.
    Review your product key and make sure that you have entered it correctly".
    I have been in a chat with microsoft for 2.5 hours so far and they have referred me to this forum. I don't feel that I am getting anywhere and I am incredibly frustrated.
    I enclose the contents of the chat so that you can see what has already been discussed and what steps have already been taken.
    You are now chatting with 'Ethan'.
    Ethan: at 10:05:35
    Hello Craig. Welcome to the TechNet Online Concierge. How may I assist you today?
    Ethan: at 10:07:56
    Excuse me, Craig, are you there?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:08:01
    Hi Ethan. I believe I spoke to you yesterday. I have a retail boxed version of Vista that has been unused that I'd like to use, but it only includes media for 32 bit and I am trying to obtain the media for 64 bit. I was given a link to download the software,
    which I have done but my product key doesn't work with the software - product key cannot be validated. The software that I have is Vista Business (box)
    Ethan: at 10:09:36
    Thanks for your inquiry. In that case, you may claim a product key from the downloading page by clicking the "Product Keys" button.
    Ethan: at 10:10:06
    Or do you still want to use that product key?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:11:07
    That's ok if I can legally do that. The software will not be used by me and so I'm not sure the technet license should be used by another. I'm ok with it because I know that I have got a license for Vista. Is that ok legally?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:12:01
    Also, now that Microsoft is finishing the technet program, what happens to the license keys? Will they become invalid at some point in time?
    Ethan: at 10:12:40
    Technically, they will continue to work as usual. However, according to TechNet Licensing Terms, you must remove all TechNet products after your subscription expires. There is no perpetual use rights for any TechNet subscription.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:16:08
    So how does that relate to this enquiry? If I use the technet license and then my subscription expires then I can no-longer use the technet product key. Is it ok to continue to use it in place of the one with the boxed product? If it will work technically,
    and I can prove that I have one product key (that I am not using for technical reasons) is that ok?
    Ethan: at 10:18:06
    In this case, I'd like to check your product key for you. Could you please send the key to [email protected] with "To Ethan" included in the subject so that I could know the issue better? Thanks.
    Ethan: at 10:20:45
    I mean I'd like to check why the key can't activate your media so that I could tell you if there is any other solutions.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:22:01
    My media only seems to install 32 bit but the license covers 32 bit and 64 bit. I need 64 bit media.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:22:46
    My product key doesn't work with the 64 bit media that I have downloaded from technet.
    Ethan: at 10:23:38
    Excuse me, you mean your product key is a 32 bit key, right?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:24:22
    I have a product key and just want 64 bit software to work with it. I want it to be legally correct but to a point, in my mind, it shouldn't matter if the software has to use a different product key to replace mine.
    Ethan: at 10:26:43
    Please note that product key and installation media must match with each other. Do you need me to check the type of your product key for you at this moment?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:27:07
    There is nothing on the box to say that it is 32 bit only. It does say "includes 32 bit dvd and information on obtaining 64 bit dvd", which does suggest that the product key is for 32 bit and 64 bit. there isn't any information to obtain 64 bit media
    Ethan: at 10:31:25
    Thanks for your information. In this case, I'd suggest you to contact our Windows Store support to see if they could provide you the retail installation media for you.

    Craig Stenton: at 10:45:28
    But surely I can just download the 64bit software? I don't want to have to wait for a disk to be delivered and I don't expect to have to pay for it if it's available on download.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:46:19
    The product key is on the Vista Business box. I can provide a photo if you wish
    Ethan: at 10:46:31
    Sorry, I mean could you please tell me where did you  get your retail boxed version of Vista
    Craig Stenton: at 10:47:36
    Oh, sorry. I can't be certain. Possibly PC World - I used them quite a lot at that time.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:49:05
    I didn't buy it off ebay or other dubious sources if that is the purpose of your query. If I look back through our accounts I will be able to determine where it was purchased but that is a big task.
    Ethan: at 10:53:16
    I just double checked it for you, Windows Vista product keys should work for both 36 bit and 65 bit versions.
    Ethan: at 10:54:11
    **Windows Vista product keys should work for both 36 bit and 64 bit versions. Sorry for my typo.
    Craig Stenton: at 10:55:17
    I saw that but I know what you meant ;-> so, now that we know that my product key is valid for 64 bit, how do I download the 64bit media? It must be available.
    Ethan: at 10:57:55
    Just to confirm, your product key is for Windows Vista Business, right?
    Craig Stenton: at 10:58:50
    Yes, that is correct
    Ethan: at 11:02:37
    Could you please tell me if you have used before? Also please give me more information about activating the media downloaded from our TechNet site.
    Ethan: at 11:02:55
    **Could you please tell me if you have used the key before? Also please give me more information about activating the media downloaded from our TechNet site.
    Ethan: at 11:04:30
    Sorry, I just noticed that you said the key is unused. Then could you please tell me the error message when you activate with the key?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:04:52
    TBH, I'm not even sure I ever used it, but if I did, it wasn't for long. I purchased it so that I could support a couple of users with new Vista laptops but then downgraded them to XP due to problems (then) with Vista.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:06:14
    The problem that I get when trying to use my product key with the download from technet is "your product key cannot be validated. Review your product key and make sure that you have entered it correctly"
    Ethan: at 11:06:48
    In that case, could you please send the key to [email protected] with "To Ethan" included in the subject so that I could check for you if the key is still valid?
    Ethan: at 11:09:17
    Excuse me, Craig, are you still there?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:11:10
    yES, i AM STILL HERE. jUST SENDING THE EMAIL
    Craig Stenton: at 11:11:31
    Sorry, caps on for typing the product key in my email to you.
    Ethan: at 11:12:02
    It's okay, please take your time.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:16:24
    I have sent the email to you. I have included photos of the product key and the message.
    Ethan: at 11:17:08
    Thank you, please give me a moment to check it for you.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:19:47
    ok
    Ethan: at 11:23:57
    Still checking. Sorry for the delay.
    Ethan: at 11:31:44
    Thanks for your waiting. I have checked it for you, your product key is valid.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:32:23
    OK, but it doesn't work with the software downloaded from technet so what do we do about it?
    Ethan: at 11:32:27
    But I'm afraid it can be only used on one machine.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:33:06
    It will only be used on one machine.
    Ethan: at 11:35:24
    Our tool shows that the key has been used for activation before. Is that also on the same machine?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:37:40
    If it has been activated before then it would either have been my machine, in which case it hasn't been used for a very long time, or a 32 bit version on the machine that I am trying to use it on, which would have been in the past couple of days.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:42:44
    Are you still there Ethan?
    Ethan: at 11:43:46
    Sorry, I was taking to another customer online.
    Ethan: at 11:44:54
    Could you please provide me the file name of your installation media?
    Ethan: at 11:47:34
    Excuse me, Craig, are you still with me?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:47:41
    Yes I am
    Craig Stenton: at 11:47:56
    Do you mean the file that I downloaded from technet?
    Ethan: at 11:48:09

    Ethan: at 11:52:13
    Yes, the media contains Windows Vista and other editions. Normally, you may just claim a product key for Windows Vista Business, then you can install Windows Vista Business on your machine.
    Craig Stenton: at 11:54:14
    OK, so can you help me with that please?
    Craig Stenton: at 11:54:42
    It seems that I have the correct media, and my product key is valid so there shouldn't be any problems

    I have done what you said and when I call the number it is an automated system that requires numbers from the activation wizard. I can't ebven install thde software to be able to get to that stage. I need my product keey to be made to wotk with the downloaded
    media, or if it can't be made to work then I need to be supplied with a product key that will work
    Ethan: at 12:07:18
    Please give me a moment to check it for you.

    Thanks for your waiting. Have you tried the following steps?

    but I can't install windows! During the install I am asked for the product key and it tells me that it is not valid and so I can't proceed.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:14:16
    I can't use the usual methods of activation because I cannot get an activation code. I can't use the activation wizard. I can't call the number because it requires an activation code.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:14:35
    I am completely stuck without somebody making it work.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:16:01
    We've established that everything is correct so what is the problem?
    Ethan: at 12:18:45
    Okay, then you may post this issue on our support forums for further assistance from our support engineers. One moment please, let me locate the entrance for you.
    Craig Stenton: at 12:20:09
    But surely it isn't a support issue. It is a product key issue.

    Hi,
    I'm a bit confused with this paragraph, as you said Vista already install on your computer, why did you say Windows can't be installed?
    According to your description with your problem, it is Product edition and key are not match. Firstly of all, we must make sure the system you installed on your computer was
    Windows Vista Business, not matter 32 or 64 bit.
    Note: you can check current system edtion at System Properties.
    After that, you can try to input your product key and activate your system for test.
    If problem still presists, it would be better to provide the activation error message.

  • How do I get past the drivers not found problem during Windows 7 install?

    I have a brand new (March 2012) MBP running Mac OS 10.7.3 (Lion) with a SuperDrive.  I'm trying to use Boot Disk Assistant to install Windows 7 with a valid Windows 7 DVD burned from an .iso.  I've partitioned the 750 GB HDD with 500 GB for Mac OS and 250 GB for Windows.  The system reboots and starts to install Windows 7.  Then it pops up an error:
    "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing.  If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
    Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
    Of course, I can't eject the Windows setup DVD because the eject button doesn't work so I can insert the Windows Support Software that I downloaded from Apple.  So, I copied the Windows Support Software to a USB drive.
    Once I get to this point, I can browse to the USB drive and I get the following file tree:
    Drivers
         Apple
              x64
         Asix
         Atheros
         ATI
         Broadcom
         Cirrus
         IDT SigmaTel
         Intel
              Chipset
                   All
                   ia64
                   Lang
                        Chip
                             (various languages)
                   WIN7
                   x64
         Marvel
         NVidia
              NVidiaChipset32
                   Ethernet
                        NAM
                   HDAudio
                   SMBUS
                   SMU
              NVidiaChipset64
                   Ethernet
                        NAM
                   HDAudio
                   SMBUS
                   SMU
              Win7_32
              Win7_64
         RealTek
    The only directory that the installer recognizes as having valid drivers is the Intel > Chipset > WIN7.  When I select all of the drivers listed, the installer acts like it's installing something but then it stops saying that new devices were not found.  I can't get past this point.  The Windows 7 installer will not continue.  If I select any of the other directories, I get the message "No device drivers were found.  Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."
    Any thoughts?  Admittedly, this is the my first experience dealing with Mac OS and I'm completely out of my league.  However, this is a Windows installation issue and I'm getting hung up on device drivers.  Usually in the PC world, I can easily go to the manufacturer's website and just download the drivers I need directly.

    valid Windows 7 DVD burned from an .iso.
    Usually burned ISO to DVD only works when burn speed is set to slowest.
    Otherwise there are a number of problems with the install failing to do proper install, sometimes not even booting to start the install. Trouble is from using Apple Disk Utility. Burned in Windows, the ISO will be fine. Using Disk Utility at slowest has become "try reburn again at reduced speed."
    You can use mouse on startup to eject DVDs but what you want is your drivers later after Windows is installed, and have them on USB flash or something.
    you don't need any drivers except in a few cases (MacBook Air that lacks DVD and uses USB-DVDs)
