MediaSource ripping prob

Hello,
I have Creative MediaSource 3.30.2 and I use it to rip my CDs to put on my Zen player.
Very recently I noticed that not every track ended up where I designated. I was eventually able to find them in this folder:
C:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource
albeit improperly named (the tracks are named [] where the number is the track number). I just now tried ripping another CD and all the tracks ended up there.
Any clues as to why this started happening? I did not alter anything when this began.

MacGuffin,
Are these classical music tracks perhaps? Performances with long artist / title names? If you have the settings configured to name the file based on the tag information, and that tag information is very long, then it can fail when it tries to name the file due to the length. Upcoming versions of MediaSource should correct this by issuing a warning or shortening the name.

  • MediaSource ripping problem

I downloaded MediaSource 5, added the updates online, and downloaded the Audiopack to rip to mp3s...
Whenever I try to rip a cd with one track, the information from a previously ripped cd shows up. I can edit the information, but the track time does not update to the new track length for the new cd, instead, it is for the previously ripped cd.
What can I do to change this? Refreshing the cd does not work.
And I run Windows Vista... if that matters?

Windows Media Player will rip the cds into MP3 format. You can also have more than one Music library. Additionally MediaSource does not always play well with others., & you can't remove WMP from a Vista computer. It is a intergral part of the operating system. Rip the cds with WMP

  • Slight Zen Micro/Creative MediaSource Organizer Prob

i have a 5gb zen micro and when i plug it in to add songs, it says device not found when I double click on the Creative MediaSource Organizer...but when i go to My Computer...it says that it has found Zen Micro Media Explorer and all the cords are tight and everyting
Could any one help me? espically SSR?
    Thanks
p.s. this happened to me before and i uninstalled my Zen Micro Software and re-installed it and that fixed it, but i want to find another way to solve it besides un-installing then re-installing

What do you mean by "it says device not found when I double click on the Creative MediaSource Organizer"? Do you see a Zen Micro node in the Sources panel?

  • Zen Micro and MediaSource sync prob

Lately my computer was re-imaged due to a virus and I did not have the chance to back up my music. I installed the software using the installation cd which came with the Micro. I tried to syncronise my computer with the player so that I would have all of my songs back on my computer as well as my zen. I used the audiosync tool in mediasource organizer and the first 5 songs in alphabetical order were transferred into "My Music" successfully with sizes ranging between 3 and 5 megabytes, but the following 700 or so transferred into the folder merely as icons with size: 0 bytes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    thanks
    Tom

Here is what you should do:
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site. Make sure that you install this first before installing the rest of the MediaSource plugins listed below.
    - (Depending on your product and firmware. There is no harm installing both if you are not sure.)
For non-PlaysForSure Zen Micro: Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
    or:
For PlaysForSure Zen Micro: Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) from your product download site.
    - If it is listed for your product: Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8 from your product download site.

  • Zen Micro - MediaSource Detector Prob

    Help please!
I recently installed Broadband and Internet Explorer 6 and Outlook 6 onto my PC running Windows ME. I now get an error message at start up advising that "MediaSource Detector was unable to load needed components. Please re-install the application". When I try to start the programme a further error message indicates that a required driver, CTINTRFC.dll, was not found. The driver is there!
I've uninstalled and re-installed the MediaSource software, updated all the critical updates / drivers from Microsoft. I've run auto updates on my Zen Micro, brought in the latest upgrade and firmware but to no avail.
    Can anyone help?

If all you want to do is transfer mp3s and files between your pc and mp3 player, you can just do this trhough "my computer". click and drag thing... Other than that I'm not sure why you have this problem. Maybe you can try a system restore.....

  • Album details ripped using iTunes cannot be read in Creative MediaSource. Any f

    Hi.
Most of my CD collection was ripped using iTunes. All album details are viewable when using iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Player & Nero Player.
Creative MediaSource doesn't see the album details and, of course, won't pass them on to my Zen NX.
Any tracks ripped using Creative MediaSource show full track listing etc on my Zen NX
Is there a way to make Creative Source read or import the album & track information?
I have tried using WMP and Real Player to upload to my Zen NX but (on 2 PCs) it just hangs.
All programmes are upto date - as is NX firmware.
    Appreciate any help.
    Wint.

Be very careful. There's a bug in at least some versions of MediaSource which will strip tag data from files encoded in iTunes, due to the way it formats the track number field.
It might also be a problem with the ID3 tag version that iTunes uses being incompatible with MediaSource.
The first thing to do is go to http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers and get the latest version of MediaSource.
Also take a look in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net for alternati'ves to MediaSoure and also some tagging programs.

  • How to RIP a CD with MediaSource Organizer ??

I am using Media Source Orginazier Ver. 3.30.35 and am trying to rip a cd. The instructions tell you to click on the Rip button on the task bar... I have no Rip button on my task bar and have contacted customer support and they suggest to reload the software. I have and no luck. There is still no Rip Button. My daughter also has the same software and she does not have that button either. I know I can Rip in Napster, but when somethin says it can do it I want it to work.
Need Help before I go crazy.

When you put an audio CD into your PC the dri've should appear in the Sources box in the top left of the MediaSource window. Only when you select that dri've does the Rip button appear.
What happens when you put a CD into your PC?

  • Conflict between MediaSource Organizer and ZM Media Explorer when ripping tra

I don't know if this is a known problem or not but I am hoping someone can explain what I am seeing here.
I have both MediaSource Organizer and ZM Media Explorer set to rip CD tracks at 60% quality with a Variable Bit Rate. If I rip tracks using MediaSource Organizer, it shows the tracks have a Bitrate that is indeed variable. However, if I rip the same tracks using ZM Media Explorer, the Bitrate displayed by MediaSource Organizer is always 60000. When I view the mp3 files using Windows Explorer, both files are exactly the same size which would imply that they are both being encoded as requested.
Could it simply be a problem of displaying the correct bitrate when tracks are recorded with ZM Media Explorer?
Thank you for any help you can provide!
    John

micromouse, You are correct that MediaSource does not actually display anything indicating the file is recorded with VBR. I made that determination by examining multiple tracks where I then saw different bit rates as expected. Obviously, if I were recording with CBR, the bit rates of all files would be the same.
Let me try to explain the problem a little differently.
If I set MediaSource to rip tracks from a CD with "VBR, 60%" quality and then use MediaSource to rip 0 tracks from a CD, the bit rate displayed when I view the PC Library in MediaSource shows that each track has a different bit rate as expected. There is no problem here.
However, if I set Media Explorer to rip tracks from a CD with "VBR, 60%" quality and then rip the same 0 tracks from the CD, the bit rate displayed when I view the PC Library in MediaSource shows that every track has the same bit rate of 60000. I believe this represents a problem.
Now after using EncSpot to view the details of the mp3 files as previously suggested by another board member, I verified that the same track ripped by each program (MediaSource and Media Explorer) has the same characteristics although there is a slight difference in file size by a few bytes.
I hope this helps to better explain what I am seeing.
    Thanks, John

  • No MP3 ripping in MediaSource 5.......but thanks for the CD ISO im

I absolutely can't believe it!!! We finally get the Official Vista CD image and what next? MP3 ripping is NOT supported in Vista using MediaSource 5. You get a link back to Creative's site asking you to buy the MP3 plug-in for $9.99. I can't stress enough to everyone...if you MUST have Vista....keep XP too and dual-boot.....or get nickel-and-dimed to death!!! Can't play DVD's with Vista Business and now this:angry:Message Edited by Howie97 on 06-22-200708:4 PM

I think that if you install CMSP3. in compatibility mode and then install CSMP5 you get MP3 encoding in both versions. Afterwards you can remove v3 and still keep the codec for v5.

  • Mediasource 2.03.29 - Ripping a CD in or

    Hi,
I've just downloaded Mediasource 2.03.29 on the basis that it is supposed to automatically allow you to rip a CD and then play it back on your MP3 player in order (I guess it just adds a track number to the title, which is fine). Problem is, I can't find out how to make this function work, and I'm fed up of doing it manually
Can anyone help, because this would be really useful.

MediaSource will rip CD tracks and write the track number to the tag. So, it is not MediaSource's problem. Which MP3 player are you having?
    I've got a MuVo TX52.
That's just the problem, I can't get Mediasource to add the track number to the tag. The latest version, says that it should, but I don't know how to make it do it.

  • Problems with ripping files from my cds to Zen Touch via Mediasource pla

This is a problem I have had recently. I run Windows XP and have a Zen Touch which is a really decent player. However, just recently I have been unable to rip any CD tracks from my ample collection and put them on the Zen touch. I always get a little dialogue box which says CDrom doesn't support file ripping. Try the Recording function. It has done this even on CDs whose tracks I ACTUALLY put on the Zen touch already without any problem. Why is it doing this now?
I have tried re-installing the Zen touch cd a number of times but to no avail.
    Thanks

Thanks for that. I have been going around in frustration with this thing for a few nights. Even my husband is at a loss with it and he knows more about this stuff than I do.
I have effected a temporary solution to the problem which is to rip cd tracks using Nero Startsmart which converts them to MP3 no problem. I have also tried using the Media Player as well. Now all I have to do is download from the MP3 folder the tracks I have already ripped and load them onto the Zen.
What I don't understand about all of this is that the MediaSource Software was working okay until this month.

  • Mediasource 5.10.38 mp3 track skipping prob

    Hi !
I'm having a problem with Mediasource 5 since I upgraded to it.
I was listening to mp3s of a stand up show by Henry Rollins, and Mediasource kept skipping to the next track even though there was still a minute or so of the track left to play.
When I skip back to the track and drag the cursor, it plays the track fine, but the problem starts again with the next track...
It didn't do that on every track, it only did it on tracks that are 7 minutes long minimum.
I checked if everything was off (svm, crossfade...) and everything was.
I ripped those mp3s from my CD with Mediasource, so I really have no clue what's going on.
    Any clue ?

Are you playing the track from MediaSource's PC Music Library or from MediaSource's My Computer?

  • MediaSource Prob

About a week ago MediaSource started to crash. It only crashes when I'm trying to rip a complete CD to MP3 format, and not if I try to rip individual songs. It's not a major issue, but it's still annoying and weird since it worked perfectly before. Any idea what could be causing this behavior?

The first thing to try is to download the latest MediaSource for your product.
Are you ripping to to MediaSource's My Computer , or MediaSource's PC Music Library, or your MP3 player?

  • Quality of mp3 files ripped/encoded by Mediasource's cod

    Hi,
I was ripping a bought CD with Mediasource (like I have done so far) and after reading some threads here about encoding preferences and some posts stating that the quality of the codec matter a lot, I became curious about the quality of mp3 files yielded from Mediasource compared to those created from other applications (encoded at the same bitrate of course). Is anyone experienced enough to make a judgement about that? Does it use the LAME encoder or something else?

    I think you're right Daniel.
Go to Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Hardare tab. Choose Audio Codecs and then Properties. Then click on the Properties tab and you will see Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer 3 Codec.
As Fraunhofer developed the mp3 spec originally it can't be that bad but people do seem to say good things about the LAME encoder.

  • Creative mediasource player - track order prob

I imported a lot of?albums I downloaded from Napster on to the creative mediasource player on my pc. when i try to play albums via this player on my pc the tracks are all out of order (eg track3, track , track2 etc) and I cannot work out how to get them in the right order. i have just looked at a few albums and just realised that it is sorting the tracks in alphabetical order of the track names, not track number. anybody got any ideas how to get it in track order?thanks

Just click on the column header to sort by Track Number. Creative MediaSource will play in the order that you see.
