Medical office management software

Hi everyone.
I'm a little new here and I'm in need of studying TSQL. I have used it in the past, but it's been many years, and I barely touched on it. Mostly for simple things for an old project I did in the 90's.
Anyway, I'm trying to help a friend, my doctor clean up some data he has in a database on his server. It's SQL 2012.
Here's the problem.
He purchased a canned system that helps him keep track of patients. He has around 1k records. Each record is updated when a patient comes in for an appointment. But, because he coudln't get access to the old records of the patient from a previous office visit,
he was just kept adding new information to the same patients initial record each time they came in, making a few of the fields huge over time of course.
He did this because he didn't realize what it would do, and because the GUI was too hard to work with, requiring him too many actions, or clicks, and no screen to see previous office visit appointment information that is vital for the current patient visit,
for prescribing meds, medical advice, for compliance, etc,.
He tells me he just needs to strip out the last date and any info from the last date in one field. I'm assuming finding that record and then finding that date, and then trying to strip out the the text of that field and capturing it, and inserting it in
another table that I'd design for said purpose would work? But, I'm only wondering if this would work if the date is related to the text input each time? How would this be so? Since he used the same field for inputting the information in each patient record,
I'm wondering if the info would be stored in another table, and I'd think it would as normalization would require each patient to hopefully have information stored in a related table with visit information or something, but I've not seen the tables, and another
thing that this brings up, is legal and ethical issues, in that I'm wondering if it is allowable to look at said information since he purchased a canned program? I don't want to step on others feet so to speak, but just to help this guy who's a jewel of a
doctor considering I have a chronic illness and he realizes I don't have many resources and doesn't or hasn't in the past even charged me money at times. Something rare I'd suggest in the medical field today! :-)
If this is legal, and he owns his own data as it would seem to me, and as long as I didn't bother the canned front end software, it would seem this should be doable from a current rational thinking here in the moment as I speak about this, but I don't know.
! Yikes. :-)  Anyway, I'd really appreciate any insight anyone here can help with.
If not a legal problem, would TSQL work well for this do you think?
I hope it's ok to ask such a question here?
Thanks so much in advance.
Tim

Very many questions. As for the technical ones, they are impossible to answer without seeing the tables and the data. But I do get a feeling of an Augean stable here...
As for the ethical part of it, there are two aspects. One is the relation to the canned program. This depends on the license, and the doctor is reponsibly if your would be a breach against this agreement. But I would expect this to be too much of a deal.
The more difficult part is that you will undoubtedly see a lot of sensitive patient data, and how legal this would be is nothing I can answer. You will need to talk with a lawyer where you live. But reasonbly, the doctor is responsible for sharing the data
with you, and he could be held responsible if you disclose any of the information you see.

    Hi,
Could you let us know what's the management software? Were your Server and client all Windows system?

  • Best Contact Management Software for Mac

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I can't find it anywhere. Plus, I'm not sure if I'm even in the right place. But, can you tell me what contact management software works the best for Mac?
Also, I'm new to using such software, is there anything specific I should be looking for when choosing one?
    Thanks!

I'm sorry to say there isn't much around. It has been a bit of a weak spot for Mac / OS X for ages - but things are possibly improving.
Any CRM solution for OS X needs really to co-operate with Address Book and iCal - so you can sync your stuff out to PDAs or whatever, and use them in Mail / iWork / Office 2008 etc. that are already written to work with such info in AB and iCal. If it doesn't, you end up with a closed-off app that can't easily work with you on the machine, and which then has to re-do code that already exists. Odd design constraints in earlier versions of iCal and AB made this harder - they were not very aware of other systems / apps. But this is changing in Leopard, and there are some promising things on the horizon (though none really useful solutions avail yet).
Of those out there, probably the best notional app is (in my view) Now Software's Nighthawk (http://www.nowsoftware.com/nighthawkSubsite/index.html). It is written by a team with a solid track record of CRM development on Macs, and is apparently designed to play nice with iSync and the rest. Trouble is it doesn't yet exist - rumours of a public Beta have been out there for months, but the date keeps slipping. Could be a good thing, or signs of major problems - who knows. Realistically you'll not see anything commercially viable from them before April next year I reckon.
But waiting could be good. The other attempt we've seen is SOHO Organizer by Chronos Software. (http://www.chronosnet.com/Products/sohoorganizer.html) In description it does the business - iSync / iCal / AB compatible. But it has had a troubled development, and there is lots of grim sounding reports of trouble with the app on the net. The developers are not very kind to themselves with not much disclosure and (at least last time a looked) a restrictive demo / preview policy (you get one trial period, and that's it, for ever! Even if they bring out a major version number change). My personal experience is that they tell a much better marketing story than they deliver in software - but I've steered clear of the app for a long time now (after a seriously bad experience) but who knows, they might well have caught up with their ambitions by now.
There are many others about that are really central web-based systems - which is fine provided you don't want to use Mail / AB / iCal or sync any of this to your phone / PDA / .Mac or whatever.
So, nothing much going on now. But ever hopeful...
If anyone knows more / other stuff - would be good to know about. We're still travelling hopefully.

  • Property Management software

I am looking for Mac compatible software that is similar to Quicken Property Manager 2.5. I have been thinking about buying the PC version and running it using Virtual PC. Does anyone have experience with either question.

Hello Everyone, one of our clients has asked me to look for Property Management software. He has a commercial building with 150 tenants who occupy the small office space. He is looking for software to smooth out the workflow and manages all these tenants.
Main concerns are:  manage who paid the rent and when, how much is due for the next month, accounting, lease administration and of course reporting. Before I look any further I thought I should check and get input from the brilliant minds here. Please let me know what you recommend.
Your help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Lion Battery Management Software seems to be erratic.

The Lion OS X 10.7.2 battery management software appears to be very erratic.
I just brought a new MacBook Pro direct from Apple last week (late 2011, 15", 2.4 GHz, 8 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3, 7500 rpm disc) with Lion OS X 10.7.2 preinstalled, i.e., the latest and greatest. I was only getting 3 hours on a battery charge until it ran out. After searching the forums nothing quite matched (older models, different graphic cards, more constrained systems, Lion software upgrades, etc).
I have the screen brightness set to about 50%, the power option "put disks to sleep whenever possible", and the keyboard set to turn off the light after 30 seconds of non-use. On battery, I have "display sleep" at 6 minutes and "computer sleep" set to 10 minutes. So I am not pushing the power consumption very hard.
I ran a "repair" from the recovery partition and my hard disk had no problems.
So I tried the Reset Power Manager metioned in another thread:
    Shutdown
    Depress Ctrl+Option+Shift
    Power on
Hold for at least 10 seconds
    Power on
and that extended my battery charge to 6 hours, not quite the 7 hours advertised. (I even tried it on my mid 2009 Mac Book Pro 13", Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 and its battery life was extended by about .67%).
But I started seeing odd reporting in the "time remaining" in the battery icon. The "time remaining" would fluctuate by as much as 20% in a just a few seconds, going either up or down! For example, it would jump from 4 hours to 3 hours, then up to 3.5 hours then up to 4.5 hours, down to 1.3 hours, and back up to 4.0, and so forth whenever I changed the state.
So I watched the "battery charge remaining" over several hours with different states:  (WIFI on/off, start/stop applications, turn Thunderbird/Firefox to offline and back to online; Thunderbird is not an issue because I have it set to check for incoming messages every 2 hours not every few minutes) and I monitored using the Activity Monitor and the widget iStat Pro. The cpu was reported to never exceed 2% busy, user+system, and free memory never fell below 5.9 GB with minimwl swapping and paging, i.e. the machine was basically idle even when I had WIFI on with Firefox watching Adobe Flash video from the net, which is purportedly a CPU hog (it is not).
Has anyone else seen this erratic battery software managemt behavior? Does any have an explanation?

I noticed in some archived threads that someone suggested changing "time" to "percentage" because "time" remaining is calculated every few seconds and is very sensitive to changes of state as I noted in my post. I don't see that "solution" as much use because it doesn't tell me "percentage" of what? The amount of charge left? What I really what to know is "how long will my charge last?". 70% of 3 hours is something quite different than 70% of 7 hours. It seems to me that the time remaining ought to be calculated less often. The value is reported in hh:mm. I don't see much point in calculating it every few seconds. Once a minute would actually be more accurate.

  • App-V 5.0 SP2 Standard & Middleware Package Publish by RES Management Software?

    Hi @all,
actually i am sitting by a customer packaging App-V 5.0 SP2 PAckages with Sequencer.
I have made Standard and Middleware-Packages.
Did somebody can say me how to publish App-V Packages (Standard & Middleware) by RES Management Software?
F.e. an App-V Package looks like this
    AdobeAcrobatStandard80_DE.appv
    AdobeAcrobatStandard80_DE.msi
    AdobeAcrobatStandard80_DE_DeploymentConfig.xml
    AdobeAcrobatStandard80_DE_UserConfig.xml
    report.xml
How can i define Connection Groups, that i can make connections between Standard and Middleware Applications?
    Greetz Berni

If you don't use the App-V Management server nor ConfigManager to deploy App-V packages, you have to create a ConnectionGroup definition XML file manually and then add the individual applications as well as the connection group definition to a client machine.
To create the ConenctionGroup XML file, you can use Notepad, Tim Mangan's
Appv_DefConnGroups or powershell (for instance as described by Aaron Parker on
    Stealthpuppy)
adding the App-V packages and the connection group(s) to a client can be done with powershell (but their might be some special features for that in RES already)

  • My Extensis suitcase 11.0.4 is no longer working with my system OSX10.6.8, what is the best and cheapest font management software to use that's compatible with this system and CS software

my Extensis suitcaseX 11.0.4 is no longer working with my system OSX10.6.8, what is the best and cheapest font management software to use that's compatible with this system and my existing CS design software?

If you upgraded to Snow Leopard, then it would seem that Suitcase 11 is not compatible with Snow Leopard and you'd need to buy Suitcase Fusion 3 for $99.95.

  • Need security management software for OS 8.6 through 9.2

Are there any security management softwares available these days for OS 8.6 through OS 9.2? Something which lets the computer owner turn off firewire and USB is what I'm looking for. It would be nice to be able to allow only some selected USB devices, like a keyboard and a printer or scanner, and still disallow external drives or thumb flash drives, but turning off all USB would be useful on machines which don't need USB keyboards, like beige or B&W PMG3 computers or G3 iBooks.

  • Best project management software for mac

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best project management software or strategic planning software for imac??
    Thanks

If you are willing to spend money on professional tool with free support, if the team get's large, I would ask you to look at ConceptDraw Project. If you are dead set on open source and "free" software I would say that Redmine, Bugzilla or any other that has been around a while, and looking for plugins to make it suit your needs is one of your best bets.

  • Free Project Management Software for Mac or windows!

    Hi all,
Does anyone know of a good project management software that does more than what Microsoft project does and is freely available? I mean one that has a local application but also can update updates to the web side of the software? I saw sharedPlan which is really good so far but its not freely available. It runs on Mac and Windows but really looking for a windows version as all my team members only use windows.
So I guess am asking for one that's open source?
    Please let me know.

You might want to check out Wikipedia page and look for open source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparisonof_project_managementsoftware
The only free tools that I know of are web based such as Zoho projects, Basecamp etc..
Or you can always download and use for 30 days tools from:

    or other

  • Project Management Software Options

Does anyone know of good project management software? I recently joined an advertising firm and am responsible for scheduling projects and keeping track of client info. What I need is a program or programs that will allow me to track projects, schedule due dates, etc. and enter client info and keep track of client daily interactions (phone calls, faxes, meetings).
If you're using something you like please let me know. Any suggestions are appreciated.

No, I coudn't find an appropriate forum. I wanted to post it on a general software discussion but couldn't find one. Sorry, I'll try elsewhere.

  • Project/Task Management Software for iMac, iPad and iPhone

    Hi,
I work at a Espresso Bars company in Sydney and we have a small but busy Design & Marketing department.  We're looking for the best, yet simplest software so we can manage all the marketing and design projects.
I've seen a few good Online Management Software but they are quite expensive ($25+ per month per user).  The good thing about those systems is that you can access it from anywhere and people can collaborate, ask questions about a project, give feedback about a design, enter a new task or tick as completed, etc... And you can use it on an iMac, an iPad and an iPhone.
I came across Projector for iMac and iPad, but it is not online, if you want to share the project from iMac to iPad you have to conect your iPad to your computer and sync it.  It also works by projects, so there is no way for you to see in a single screen all the projects you're currently working on and the process of them.  So, although it being very user friendly and excellent UI, not sure if it is what we want.
I wanted to ask you if you know about another Project/Task Management Software that we can use on an iMac, iPad and perhaps and iPhone as well.  Something that you either buy the app once or if you have to pay a monthly fee it needs to be very low.  If it is online it would be much better! but everything would work I reckon.
User friendly and good UI software are preferred.
Thank you so much for your help!
    Cheers

  • New BlackBerry Desktop Manager software for Mac

Let me know if there is a better "BlackBerry" forum to ask these questions -- but just wondering if this software will backup Address Book on my Mac to my BlackBerry without erasing everything I've already entered into the Blackberry by hand the past 2 years...
...also we have the Enterprise (corporate account) BlackBerry license (BB 8820) - if I use the newly released BlackBerry Desktop Manager software will that make a real mess of things or is it compatible.
Thanks for any comments or references to other forums or such. I come here because everything I've done with computers since 1989 is MAC - and this is a great discussion site-- and yet my latest job is using BB's... (and most others are on PC's...)

As far as screwing things up, mine went fine. There were some comments about problems. If you go to crackberry. com, there is a Mac users area, under Forums/Blackberry Operating Systems and Desktop Managent.

  • Q4_How to manage software material and BOM in SAP_High-tech Industry PLM Implementation Issues

    Hello,
We are implementing SAP PLM for a high-tech company which designs and manufactures mobile phones (ODM). Since we are new in PLM consulting and we are facing with some implementation difficulties, we are looking for some solutions here.
Question 4: How to manage software material and BOM in SAP?
Currently, software are not managed as material in the BOM.  How to manage software material in PLM, can anyone help us with some suggestions.
Question 5: PADS integration with PLM.
Currently, customer is using Pro/E and PADS to design their product. SAP has already provided standard interface for Pro/E integration. But for PADS, there is no such interface. Because of the specialization of electrical components managed in PADS, different from structural parts in Pro/E, how to transfer them between PLM system and manage them in the PLM system has become an difficulty. We will appreciate a lot if anyone can share us with some successful solutions.

    Hi,
software, typically a released version of software, is typically managed as a normal material master, and a related document with the code as a package (e.g. ZIP), if really needed.
Software in development is managed typically with a dedicated Software Configuration Management tool like Rational ClearCase, Subversion, MKS Integrity, ....
