Mega 651 not recognizing Drives.

*sigh*
Where do I begin, saving up for this barebones from newegg for about 6 months now, finally got the funds, paid and eagerly awaited my prize, after four long days of waiting for the package it finally comes! I begin to carefully piece together my new wonder, with intimate interest. I finished plugged it in, boy was that radio pretty! However on the computer side of things, much to my chagrin she wont recognize neither my Hard Disk, nor my HP CD Burner, I realize that the CD is unsupport however it will be recognized won't it? I don't know what to do...Thanks in advance for your help!
EDIT: I also can't eject the CD, Which Button?!?! So instead I manually opened the front panel and pressed the button on the burner while the computer was on, nothing...Am I supposed to use the other HDD power cable or the purble brown one near the top?

the power cable with the purple lead should be connected to the cd drive - this allows the hifi module to operate it while the pc is powered off
see other posts about your Western Digital HDD - i think you need to take the jumper off to set it to Master - while you're there check the jumper on your cd drive
jjarrett and jon23 are both correct, the IDE cables are clearly labelled "HDD" and "Optical drive", need to be connected correctly, otherwise the CD won't work in hifi mode
you should find that the HP cd burner should work, its just a rebranded OEM drive (i think they're made by LiteON or LG, i can't remember which now)

  • 2014 Retina Thunderbolt Not Recognizing Drives/Devices

    Hi,
I purchased a new retina Macbook Pro about two weeks ago and notice that the thunderbolt ports don't seem to be recognizing two different drives. The ports work with displays but when connecting an OWC powered drive and a lacie bus powered drive neither will work. I have also tried to connect a thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter and am not having any luck with that either.

Just wondering if you ever found a solution.  My mbp retina is not finding my iLok 1.  No green light. Max 5 won't authorize.

  • Netra T1 not Recognizing Drives

I recently acquired a Netra T1 105. The server is able to boot from CDROM, but does not recognize the disk drives. Running 'test scsi' from the ok prompt results in "No targets found". I also noticed an LED on the system board that flashes H37d.
Any insight would be greately appreciated.

The system has two 9 GB drives. No external SCSI devices are attached. I have tried both drives, and each drive individually in each slot. Same result in each case. I have also attempted removing the SCSI cable and two boards to which the drives physically connect and reinstalling. Same result each time.
The documentation doesn't provide much detail it seems for troubleshooting this issue.
    Thanks for you comments nevertheless.

  • Lightroom not recognizing Drives past H: Drive

I was trying to put together a slideshow in the Trial Version of Lightroom 1.0(on WindowsXP SP2) and I clicked on the Soundtrack section to add music. When the browse for music dialog came up it only showed drives below my H: drive. I keep my music on my M: drive and could not add music to the slideshow. I tried sharing my M: Drive and mapping it to my F: drive, but when I selected it I got "The folder F:\ cannot be used, please try another folder." This is a severe limitation.
I was planning on purchasing this version, but it looks like it is not quite ready yet. Maybe I will wait for 2.0. I was also not able to stack photos or change the folder that I import to from the downloader. Did I get a beta by mistake here?

They're not "live". Once I've processed them then I compress them. At that point it's unlikely I'll go back to the RAW versions anytime soon (I process them to JPEGs and work with those). The performance hit is minescule, particularly when compared to what a pig Lightroom under Windows is.
Incidentally I'm not talking art or "pro" shots. I'm talking snapshots of my friends/family. Those don't really need to be kept quickly accessible much past when I upload them to Flickr or Picasa Web. I also shoot a bloody lot of them.
And I do think it's a bug since it handles compressed files just fine. You can even cajole it into seeing compressed folders by drag and drop. I've *never* seen another Windows app that can't handle them either - it's kind of blatantly silly to the point it reaks "bug".
Anyway, I'm not compressing the drive, I'm just compressing folders. It saves a considerable amount of space, which in the laptop world is helpful and even outside of the laptop world, though cheap, is not free. It starts to add up after awhile. Compressed I can save 20% to 40% - the later being pretty dang useful.
    Thanks.

  • Mega 651 will not recognize multi card in Win XP Pro

I have been using my Mega 651 since the begining of January 2004 and have been a satisified user with only a few gliches since reciently.
    My Configuration
    Celeron 2.4 400 Mhz FSB
    512 Meg PC 2700
    WD 160 GB Hard Drive
IO Magic DVD +-RW/+-R DVD drive
and most reciently (about 1 month ago)
    ATI 9200 Video Card
Dual Boot with Windows 2000 Pro and Mandrake 10.0 (95% W2k)
Until just last week I had very few gliches except for an anoying problem where the CD drive would stop working. The symptoms were the drive would not eject automatically and on reboot, the post would not discover the IDE devices.  I found that if I removed the cover and reset the data cable, then the system would get back to normal.
But this is not why I am writing here.
Last week the system got into a very strange startup loop.  It would boot into windows Pro and during the startup, would reboot, and then restart.  I tried to boot into safe mode and did not have the problem so I determined that the problem was software and tried to do a repair from the installation CD.  That did not work so I decided to do an upgrade to Win XP Pro.  When installing Win XP I discovered a new and unusual problem.  That was that the system would pause for about 60 sec when booting after finding the mother board and before reporting on the IDE devices.  It still pauses like this.   I also found that the reboot on startup problem continued so I decided to install Win XP Pro clean, on the hard drive, in its own windows directory.  The new install went very well and I am in general pleased with win XP.  But I do have two new problems now.
    1.  Windows insists on identifying the multi card device as a floppy, I tried to remove the device drivers and install a removable HD driver but XP rejects the removable devices and insists on reinstalling the floppy driver.  So I can not access my CF or SD cards.
    2.  I still have a long pause before the post reports the IDE devices, the hard drive and the DVD drive.  Both devices seem to function OK when up and running
    Any comments on either problem.
    Thanks,
    Charlie Girdosky
My first try at upgrading to WinXP Pro

I don't have the 651, but the 865.  The 865 came with a Mega disc and required installing the Intel drivers from the disc.  Since the 865 is driven primarly by USB, windows would attempt to assign a driver to motherboard and devices, but would inevitably be wrong.  Only by installing the Intel drivers were things found properly.
Is there any chance there are such drivers with the 651 as well?

  • Photoshop not recognizing graphics driver

I have a brand new Sony Vaio i7 core, 8 gig's of ram and 1Tb hd, and I get this message whenever I fire up Phontoshop: "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. Say's I need 512Meg of Ram, but I have 8Gig's of Ram. The the message is followed by a pop-up that says the video driver may need to be updated, but I checked and it doesn't. It says it can't do 3d, I don't need it too, but it's annoying that it's not recognizing a driver on a brand new computer. Any ideas if there is a way to get this working properly? Thanks!

    There is no "Photoshop online".
What version of Photoshop are you using?
And the display driver message refers to bugs in your display driver, plus the requirements to have 512 Meg of VRAM (not RAM) on your video card to use the 3D features.
You need to update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website to pick up all the latest bug fixes. Updates from Microsoft are years out of date.

  • DR16-B2 not working on MEGA 651 running XP

My DR8a had become faulty so I have upgraded to ar DR16-B2. However this is not working properly, it will not refresh drive info and I am getting I/O Access errors. To use the device I have to load the CD/DVD and restart the PC, if I change the CD/DVD then I have to resart again. Also the eject button on the front case only ejects the device it does not re-load it.
XP says I have the latest driver. Anyone know why this MSI drive isn't work with my MEGA 651?

Works fine in an old Compaq I got, also running XP pro sp2. Checked DR8 in the Compaq as well and thats still not working.
    I'm thinking DR16-B2 isn't compatible with the mega 651.

  • Aio Remote: PDFs not recognized by Google drive.

Aio Remote on iPad Air2 iOS 8.1.1 - I created a PDF on my iPad from my HP Envy 7640 using Aio remote app. In the files/document section it's there (3 pages) as a PDF. But when I upload a copy from Aio Remote to Google Drive it's not recognized by Google Drive as a PDF even though it has a PDF extention. I have other PDF files stored in Google drive that are perfectly fine. It must be something in your app that is the problem.

More info: if I send it from Aio remote as an email attachment to myself I get a PDF that I can upload to Google drive and Google drive reconizes it as a PDF. again proving it is Aio remote that is doing some thing wrong when uploading to Google Drive.

  • IPod is not recognized by iTunes... Driver folder not in Mobile Device Support?

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation. First, my iPod wasn't even recognized in Windows. After following the various Apple articles, I solved this.
But now, my iPod won't be recognized in iTunes. I've been trying to follow this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 which has worked so far. But the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed. I follow along as to what to do to solve this until I reach "
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Note: If using a 64-bit version of Windows, this folder may be stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl.inf" file which is listed in this folder. (This file will be called "usbaapl64.inf" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows)."
My Mobile Device Support does not have a folder called "Drivers" and my computer does not have any file listed as "usbaapl.inf" anywhere. I'm guessing that this could be the source of the problem. But I can't fix it unless I know where to find these drivers, and I don't know they are on my computer or how to get them.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you in advance.

  • IPod not recognized by itunes, driver device won't install?

I've been at this for hours and I'm becoming rather frustrated. I've been using my 4g ipod touch since christmas and it's worked fine. I plug it into my new laptop, and it tells me that the device driver needs installed. I let it install, yet it's still not recognized. I go through the device manager and attempt to update the software, and every time it tells me that there is some kind of error and the update cannot be made. I've tried everything under the troubleshooting methods. Does anybody have any clue what is causing this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • External hard drive is not recognized after attempt to format

I just got a new macbook and couldn't use my external hard drive because it was formatted on a PC and only allowed me to read the data. I backed up the data on the 250gb hd and then used Disk Utility to erase the hd and format it as "Mac OS extended (journaled)." After beginning, Disk Utility stopped working and showed up as "not responding" in the Activity Monitor.
Now the hd does not show up on the desktop and can only be seen in Disk Utility. If I try to erase again or partition the hd the utility stops responding. If I try to zero out the drive it continues to say "preparing to zero" indefinately. Now the hd is also not recognized by windows except in the windows disk utility, but it does not even give the option of formatting/initializing it, so that is not an option.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this before, or have any idea of something that I haven't tried yet. I really want to get the drive working and have exhausted all the ideas I can come up with. The internet has not provided too many ideas either.
Thanks so much for your help.
Black MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I have crazy solution to format it to FAT 32, it work a couple times on my several MAxtor, and Western Digital HD. But this is the last resort and if you are not handy and familiar, don't do it.
It happen on my external HD, so I crack the enclosure open, pulled the HD out and attached it as internal HD on a PC after adjusting the jumper to master and make sure no other HD attached to the motherboard. Make sure the motherboard detected (you can see it from bios menu).
Insert a bootable installer disk before XP ('98, ME, or 2000), and start from there until a promt comes, and type fdisk and you delete the old partition and create a new partition and restart once using the disk still and format it using FAT 32.
After that you put it back to the enclosure, and mount it to MacBook as a new HD with default factory format.
If you don't have the installer disk, this might help :
    http://www.bootdisk.com/
But if your maxtor still under warranty better talk to them first and they might willing to reformat it for you.
Hope this help your external back and let you use it on your MacBook.

  • External Hard Drive suddenly not recognized

I have a WD 500GB external hard drive that I use to back up my data. I only have one hard drive as I'm currently living abroad and couldn't bring a 2nd with me.
I plugged in my external last night to back up my MacBook Pro and it backed everything up. I even went into Time Machine to go back and restore a file or two and that worked without problem. I have been using this drive for about a year to back up everything on my Mac and, although sensitive, it seems to work okay.
I plugged it in this morning and nothing. My Mac will not recognize that the drive is not plugged in in Time Machine or in Finder. If I go to Apple Logo > About This Mac > More Info... > Storage tab, it just shows my internal hard drive and my CD/DVD drive. If I click on Disk Utility with the drive plugged in, it shows my Hard Drive (Macintosh HD) with two icons, one inset below the other and both in black font, and then my external hard drive has two underneath, but only the top one is black font - the one underneath is greyed out.
    It goes like this:
    250.06 GB Hitachi...
         Macintosh HD
    500.08 GB WD My Passport
         Time Machine Backups (greyed out)
    Superdrive (greyed out)
When I clicked on the 500GB one and told it to repair/verify it said the disk was working fine. I tried unplugging and replugging in the drive (it is not recognized in Finder so I could not properly eject the disk). I restarted my Mac with it unplugged and plugged it in afterward and nothing.
The HD itself is working, the light is blinking (not solid) and I can feel the hard drive spinning, but I'm at a loss as to what to do to get my Mac to recognize it again.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thank you!

I also wanted to add, when I click on the greyed out Time Machine hard drive that's listed and then click "Info", this is what it says:

  • Macbook Leopard Update- Hard drive not recognized?!?!

Question- What do you think caused this problem, and how can I best fix it?
    (See below for information)
Well, I finally decided to update to Leopard. I put the disk in my Macbook, and everything went smoothly as it verified the installation DVD- until the end of the verification, that is. A message screen would pop up telling me the disk was dirty. "Okay," I thought,"No problem." I was a bit puzzled, though, because the installation with the same Family Pack disk went fine on my father's Mac. I cleaned the disk, and tried again. And again. Each time, I was greeted with the same message at the end of the verification. Frustrated, I took the disk and my laptop to Best Buy, hoping someone could help me there. We ran the installation again... to no surprise, the same problem occurs. This time, though, when we quit the installer and try to reboot, after the gray screen with the apple at the beginning, we are greeted with a black screen with one command line. NOT GOOD! We rebooted the computer again, this time starting up with a disk to check the permissions and hard drive. The diagnosis: The permissions on my Mac are screwed up, so it's not recognizing the hard drive. The Best Buy guy claims the permissions have been messed up since I bought the Mac, and everything will be just fine and dandy after I transfer the data to another computer, install the Tiger disk that my Macbook came with, update to Leopard, then transfer the data back to my Mac. I'm taking my Mac to the closest Apple store (about 2 hours away) for advice from the pros on Saturday. Until then, I'm hesitant to even turn the thing on, out of fear it will spontaneously erase the data or something to that extent.
Question: (in case you forgot)What do you think caused this problem, and how can I best fix it?

    Unplugging worked!!!
I have no idea what PRAM is but someone said that unplugging your computer resets it so, I thought I'd give unplugging a shot. So, I shut down my computer and unplugged it. I also unplugged the power on the HD. (because I wasn't sure which one they were talking about.)
Anyway, I went away for about five minutes.
I came back plugged in the HD power first. Then, I plugged in the power cord for the computer and turned it on.
As soon as I logged in I was asked if I wanted to use my external HD for Time Machine backups.
I saw the icon for the HD on the Desktop where is belongs. I can open the drive and access the files with no problem.
Try this if you haven't yet.

  • IMac G5 Internal Hard Drive Not Recognized

I shut down my iMac G5 with the power button and not through the typical shutdown procedure once and then when it booted up it would not get past the gray screen. I eventually used the Leopard DVD to try to boot it and was able to get to disk utility to look at the drive. I tried to repair the drive but then the machine froze and I had to restart once more. Now the internal hard drive isn't recognized or seen at all. I actually switched out the SATA hard drive with another spare I had and that was not recognized either. I can get the mac to recognize the installation DVD still so I know my computer still functions properly but I just need it to recognize the drive now. Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?

Have you access to DiskWarrior or TechToolPro? Either of those might fix your problem otherwise, try booting from the Apple Hardware Test on your install disc and see what it says.
