After loading a more than 113000 registers of the unique dimension (150000 members)of my test model a receive a lot of these messages :[Tue May 03 20:15:50 2005] /IS//0x0/1115168294/Error/1130203/Build-EIS6.5.6.0B005Failed to add member 'TODOS'.We have tried :time(seconds) unlimitedfile(blocks) unlimiteddata(kbytes) unlimitedstack(kbytes) unlimitedmemory(kbytes) unlimitedcoredump(blocks) unlimitednofiles(descriptors) unlimitedThe member load sometimes do not abort, but it hasn't ever finished.I have tried loading in 2 parts. The 2nd member load failed.If if load the entire dimension using only one level it runs. But loading a hierarchy of 2 levels it crashes. My software :- IBM DB2 Olap Server v8.1 e Intergration Services + fixpack 5- IBM DB2 UDB v8.2- IBM DB2 OLAP Analyzer (Hyperion Analyzer) + fixpack5- IBM WebSphere Application Server 5.1AIX v5.2Does anybody know how to handle this issue ?

One way of achieving what you are trying to do could be to use the following
CASEWHEN(LENGTH(ENT.UDACOL1)>0 AND LENGTH(ENT.UDACOL2)>0, CONCAT(CONCAT(ENT.UDACOL1,','), ENT.UDACOL2),
CASEWHEN(LENGTH(ENT.UDACOL1)=0, ENT.UDACOL2,
CASEWHEN(LENGTH(ENT.UDACOL2)=0, ENT.UDACOL1, '')))
In my example I have 2 columns which hold the UDAs, UDACOL1 and UDACOL2, if they are both populate then it will concatenate them but seperate them with a comma,
if UDACOL1 is empty then it will just use the value in UDACOL2, if UDACOL2 is empty then it will just the value in UDACOL1, if both columns are empty it will load no values.
Does this solve what you are trying to do?

EIS : parent child - member load gives duplicate across dimensions message

I am trying to do member load from EIS (version7.1) desktop using an ASO metaoutline. The outline does notget built properly for one of the dimensions. Message log shows one of the values is duplicate but there areno duplicate values. message log shows the sql similar to : ( backend database isOracle 9.2.0.4 connected with odbc/OCI) SELECT /*+ */ PARENT_ID, CHILD_ID, ALIAS_NAME,SEQUENCE_NUMBER from DIM1 order by 4 ASC Example data is:CHILD_ID PAREN_ID SEQUENCE_NUMBERROOT 1L1_1 ROOT 2L1_2 ROOT 3L1_3 ROOT 4L2_1 L1_3 5L2_2 L1_3 6L1_4 ROOT 7L1_5 ROOT 8 Message log shows the following line twice:Member "L1_3" is duplicate across all dimensions.Member "L1_3" is duplicate across all dimensions. I checked all the dimensions and member value is unique acrossall dimensions. Outline gets created as follows: ( L1_1, L1_2 and L1_3 show upas siblings to DIM1 instead of children). Outline DIM1 L1_2 L1_3 L1_4 L1_5 L1_1 L1_2 L1_3 Dimension has recursion defined in the model with PARENT_ID asparent column and CHILD_ID as Child column.

I should give another detail / extra complexity
The "Geographic Location" dimensions looks like this:
"Geographic Location" (Gen 1)
"United States" (Gen 2)
"SC" (Gen 3)
"Unique Facility 1", "Unique Facility 2" etc (Gen 4)
The data I have would be for Facility 1, Facility 2 which are unique member names which just happen to roll up under SC in the outline. I would have thought it would just load directly to those members without needing to specify their parent values.
Do I need to specify [Geographic Location].[United States].[SC].[Facility 1] ? This seems like it's something that needs to be done in the source file rather than using the prefix/suffix features of the Rules File.

Member load error from EIS

I'm loading data into essbase from eis. After member load following error is given
EssbaseAPI: You have been logged out due to inactivity or explicitly by the administrator.
When I try the same thing using user 'admin' it works fine. but the error is observed for other users.
Is there any setting for the user not getting logged out.

Could you explain how to solve this issue?

EIS member loading

In app manager, we can select "Allow moves" for existing members to move them under new parents. But in EIS I could not find that option. I have an existing regular member (not shared) in the outline which has a new parent now. I tried Incremental update which gave "Failed to Add memeber (Duplicate, Ignored)" message. The member should simply move to a new parent. Only option works is the "Delete all members first" which I do not want. Is there any other way? Please let me know. Thanks.

I take you want to load members into a planning application dimension.
You could use HAL, ODI or DIM.
In V11 you can also use the outline loader.

EIS Member and Data Load-Getting OS Error-Please help!

Please help! I have created a OLAP model then created a Metaoutline.
Then I went ahead to do the Member and Data load. I logged into my server and started the member and data load.
Then it gives me the following error:
SELECT /*+ */ .. FROM <my_view_name>
OS Error No such file or directory IS Error Member load terminated with error.
The load terminated with errors.

Jus had to create a directory in the Integration services folder: $ISHOME/loadinfo
the loadinfo folder was missing.

Which Data Source and which version of the Hyperion - datasource is Oracle10g and 9.3 is Hyp version.

Invalid column name while loading member error in EIS

we have changed the sort_order_01 column as LEVEL01_SORT_ORDER in SQL server view, but it is not reflecting in EIS during member load, however we added manually LEVEL01_SORT_ORDER in table properties of dimension member, but it is not reflecting in EIS, it is poping the error as:Invalid column name "sort_order_01".

Essbase Studio Performance Issue : Data load into BSO cube

Hello,
Having succesfully built my outline by member loading through Essbase Studio, I have tried to load data into my application again with Studio. However I was never able to complete the data load because it is taking forever. Each time I tried to work with Studio in streaming mode (hoping to increase the query speed), the load gets terminated due to the following error : Socket read timed out.
In the Studio properties file, I typed in, oracle.jdbc.ReadTimeout=1000000000, but the result has not changed. Even if it did work out, I am also not sure the streaming mode is gonna provide a much faster alternative to working in non-streaming mode. What I'd like to know is, which Essbase settings I can change (either in Essbase or Studio server) in order to speed up my data load. I am loading into a Block Storage database with 3 Dense, 8 Sparse and 2 attribute dimensions. I filtered some dimensions and tried to load data to see exactly how long it takes to create a certain number of blocks. With ODBC setting in Essbase Studio, it took me 2.15 hours to load data into my application where only 153 blocks were created with the block size of 24B. Assuming that in my real application the number of Blocks created are going to be at least 1000 times more than this , I need to make some changes in settings. I am transferring the data from Oracle Database, with 5 tables joined to a fact table (view) from the same data source. All the cache settings in Essbase are in default mode. Would changing cache settings, buffer size or multiple threads help to increase the performance? Or what would you suggest that I should do?

(sorry I no longer remember my system number here)
Before it comes to any optimisation attemps in the essbase (also Studio) environment you should definitily make clear that your source data query performs well at the oracle db.
I would recommand:
1. to create in your db source schema a View from your sql statement (these behind your data load rule)
2. query against this view with any GUI (Sql Developer, TOAD etc.) to fetch all rows and measure the time it takes to complete. Also count the effected (returned) number of rows for your information and for future comparing of results.
If your query runs longer then you think is acceptable then
a) check DB statistiks,
b) check and/or consider creating indexes
c) if you are unsure then kindliy ask your DBA for help. Usually they can help you very fast.
(Don't be shy - a DBa is a human being like you and me :-) )
Only when your sql runs fast (enough for you; or your DBA says is the best you can achieve) at the database move your effort over to essbase.
One hint in addition:
We had often problems when using views for dataload (not only performance but rather other strange behavior) . Thats the reaons why I like more directly to set up on (persistence) tables.
Just to keep in mind: If nothing helps create a table from your view and then query your data from this table for your essbase data load. Normaly however this should be your last option.

EIS load kickouts handling to an "unassigned" parent bucket

Hello, a question for the Essbase EIS/AIS pros out there. Is it possible and if so, where in the EIS GUI could I specify where to drop a given dimension member record kickout during EIS the member load? For example, if I created an "Unassigned" parent member in a couple of major DIMS (accounts and locations, for example) each and wants any kickout goes there instead of the usual text file, how'd would I do that? Thanks.

Currently you would have to use another product to do this, namely your relational database. This is a documented feature for EIS, however it doesn't work correctly. I opened a trouble ticket, after months of going back and forth proving it was in fact a defect, they admitted it was a defect. However, since I am on version 7x and there are no patch releases set for version 7, I would have to pay to move to System 9 to get this feature. Actually, as far as I know it's not working properly in System 9 either, but at least if I was on System 9 they would have to commit to a patch. I work around this in my relational database. It's a pain, but it works. To answer your question specifically, if the feature worked properly you would set it by going into your meta-outline, right clicking on the dimension in question, go to the 'Outline build' tab and enable the default misc member.

Alternate hierarchy dimension build with load rules

I am trying to build a alternate hierarchy dimension using load rules (I feel using EIS is easier to build ASO and multiple hierarchies but we r trying to get rid of EIS member loads). Looking at different posts my understanding is it has to be done using two different rules file first to build the stored hierarchies then use parent-child reference to build the shared hierarchy. Below is the link for the picture how I am trying to build the dimension. I've tried different possibilities but no luck, I am having a tough time to come up with a way to do this using rules file.

If your file is in a parent/child order, then you can build easily in one rule. make sure the primary (stored Hierarchy) gets built first followed by the alternate hierarchies. I suggest adding a SortID column to the source so you can sort the file to get it into the right order. You can also build the alternate hierarchies using level or generation builds in one load rule, but especially if you have a lot of alternate hierarchies or members, then the parent/child method is easiest.
Read in the DBAG about parent/child files and it will give you more info

Member names not visible in ASO database

Hi,
I created a metaoutline in EIS to load an ASO cube.
I was trying to load members from EIS and the member load was completed successfully.
When i checked the cube from Essbase Admin console, i can see that the outline has been created but the member names are not visible in the outline - the weirder thing is that the aliases and formulae of members are visible in the outline.
What could be the possible cause for this behaviour?

EIS 6.2 Data load

We are upgrading to EIS 6.2. I've set up an outline that mirrors our production outline and can perform a member load without errors. The data load also runs without errors, the problem is no data gets loaded. I have cut and paste the SQL query the EIS generates from the log file and used it the query the Oracle database. It returns valid data. Has anyone had this data load issue with EIS 6.2. I checked the log file after the data load and I cannot find any errors.

have you tried putting that working SQL statement in the user defined sql and using it for the data load? what do the loadinfo/dataload.txt files say (if anything)
