  • Problem making modified WCF web service operation compatible with old client

    Hi,
I am trying to make a modified version of a a WCF web service work with old clients. The method signature looks like:
    [OperationContract]
    itemList GetItemList(getItemList param);
I am adding elements to the "getItemList" class which should be optional. The class is generated from XSD schema with xsd.exe (this means we are using schema-first design). The new element is:
    <element name="itemOwner" type="string" maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0">      </element>
and the new generated code in the getItemList class becomes:
    private string itemOwnerField;
    public string itemOwner
    get {return this.itemOwnerField;}
    set {this.itemOwnerField = value; }
When I look at the new WSDL it has:
    <xs:element name="itemOwnerField" nillable="true" type="xs:string"/>
Now I was expecting the old client to still be able to call the new client, since the new field is nillable. The client has a service reference to the old version of the web service so it uses a C# stub. When the old client tries to invoke the new service,
    I get error:
The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:param. The InnerException message was 'Error in line 1 position 754. 'Element' 'itemIDField' from namespace
'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/ServerBaseAPI' is not expected. Expecting element 'itemOwnerField'.'.  Please see InnerException for more details.
My interpretation is that the server side of the new service cannot deserialize the incoming message since it expects it to contain itemOwnerField. Why it that, when it is nillable according to the WSDL? What can I do to solve or work around the problem?

    Hi gaor.mawell,
The nillable attribute is a special attribute in the XML Schema instance namespace that provides an interoperable way to explicitly represent a null value. The receiving end can interpret these as
null, zero, and null, respectively. There is no guarantee that a third-party deserializer can make the correct interpretation, which is why this pattern is not recommended. The
DataContractSerializer class always selects the correct interpretation for missing values. So have you tried to use the DataMember's
    IsRequired property? this
    DataMember's
IsRequired property tells the serialization engine whether the value of itemOwnerField must be presented in the underlying XML.
For more information, please try to refer to the this artcle:

  • Why CUA (Release 7.00) is Not Working with Old Clients(Release 4.6C, 4.5B)?

    Hi all,
We have CUA (release 7.00) that is not working with older release clients. I implemented 2 release 7.00 clients to CUA; they both work fine. However, when I implement some older release clients (like, 4.5B, 4.6C, 6.20 and 6.40) to CUA,  I can only create ID and pull out to client, but roles do not go through.
    It is kind of argent.
Do anyone know how to fix it????
    Thank you for reading this.

    > It is kind of argent.
    I think you meant "ardent"...
THe word u r g e n t is blocked by our content filters, because a while back everything was like that and these forums are actually discussion forums...
Anyway, sounds like faulty config or perhaps a problem with logical system assignment.
Have you checked that? Also check in SCUL?
That you can create users but not assign roles might also be that in the lower release systems they are checking activity 22 (assighn) AND 02 (change) to assign the role. Doesn't make sense, really....
Check the drop down menu in table PRGN_CUST for the option to change this, and compare whether the settings are different.
    Cheers,
    Julius

Check the Ethernet connection to the AirPort Express. Make sure that the Ethernet connection from the Comcast modem is connected to the WAN port on the back of the AirPort Express. The WAN port is the one with the circle of dots shown over the port.
It sounds like you are connected to the Ethernet LAN port.

  • New WSUS on Server 2012 - problem with win8 clients

    Hi,
Two weeks ago we created a new Server 2012 and installed the WSUS role from scratch on it.  Its version number is:  6.2.9200.16384.  It replaced a Server 2008 WSUS server.  After some time all the win7 clients updated and reported as
they did on the old and replaced server.
However all our win8 clients refuse to update against this server.  They show correctly up in WSUS server console each with 107 needed updates day after day.  We have rebooted them and done numerous wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow and wuauclt
/detectnow /reportnow, but to no avail.
I paste in some lines from a win8 client winupdate log at the end of this message if someone can figure out what I have to do to get these clients update as they did against the old wsus server.  Thanks for help on this issue.
    regards Tor

Today I opened Control Panel / Windows Updates and first did a check for new updates (from the WSUS server).  Nothing was found and it reported Windows is Updated.   Then I clicked the link Check for updates from Microsoft via internet, and
    it found around 24 updates.
This is confirmation of the point that I made in the previous post. The updates are *NEEDED* by this system, but the updates were not *AVAILABLE* from the assigned WSUS Server. You were able to get them from Windows Update, but that does not fix your continuing
    issue with the WSUS Server.
but it still reported the original 108 Needed updates.
Exactly. As previously noted, the client is functioning perfectly. The problem is NOT with the client; the problem is with the WSUS Server. The updates that this client needed were not AVAILABLE to be downloaded from the WSUS server.
Why this is the case requires further investigation on your part, but is either because the updates are not properly approved, or the update FILES are not yet downloaded from Microsoft to the WSUS server.
It appears that the wsus server doesn't get any information back from the client despite that it displays new Last contact and Last Status report timestamps.
This conclusion is incorrect. The WSUS Server got every bit of information available from the client -- you've confirmed this by the number of updates reported as "Needed" by the Windows Update Agent to the WSUS Server.
I assumed that the log would display if the updates were downloaded or not.
It will log when the updates are actually downloaded. If there's no log entries for updates being downloaded, then they're not being downloaded. If the logfile says "Found 0 updates", then that means exactly what it says: It couldn't find any approved/available
    updates to download.
In your case it "Found 11 updates", but now it will be impossible to diagnose that fault, because you went and got them from Windows Update.
All Win8 versions are checked in the WSUS server's Product list so the updates should at least have been downloaded to the server.
This is why understanding the infrastructure is so critical. Your conclusion is invalid based on the premise given, and you may be using improper terminology which only confuses the rest of us as well.
First, selecting updates for synchronization only gets the update metadata (i.e. the detection logic) downloaded to the WSUS database.
The Second Step in this process is to Approve those updates for one or more WSUS Target Groups that contain the appropriate client systems. Following the approval of an update, the WSUS Server downloads the INSTALLATION FILE for that update.
Once the WUAgent sees an approved update and the installation file is available, then the WUAgent will download the file and schedule the update for installation.
Most of the post I read about my problem is about upgrading a 2008 WSUS server to support Win8 / Server 12 clients.  When I try to run this update on my Server 12 WSUS it refuses to run (probably because it is for Server 2008).
Yeah.. totally different issue in those posts than what you're describing here.
What should I do to try to track down the problem?
Well.... now that it's 11 days since the logfile was posted, and you've already updated that system, we'll first need to find another system exhibiting the same issue.
Then I'll need to ask a number of questions to properly understand the environment, as well as what you have or have not done.
Then, from there, we can attempt to figure out why your Windows 8 client apparently sees some updates as approved/available but is still not downloading them. We do not yet have sufficient information to even speculate on a possible cause -- there are several.

  • Problem with Updating clients with UNIX command

    Hi.
Until this day, I used to update all our 50 client macs by manually logging in as administrator via ARD and choosing Software Update from the apple menu, this works always and I use our own servers SUS so the downloading is really fast. Still, this clearly is time consuming and annoying when you have this many clients. I have now done some search and I know I could do this by sending unix command to clients using ARD. First I had problems with running the command, then I noticed I need to run this as root. Then it "works".
Works, not quite. It starts to run, and I can see all the output. I have tried this with few clients and the results are confusing. The following is an output from one client I send the command "softwareupdate -i -r"

    Registering updated components…
And thats it, it stops there. Few clients completed the task, but the output says that they skipped the installation of all updates. In the case above, there is some skipping too, and I don't know what it means. Yesterday I left one client to this part where its Registering updated components.... , and today when I came in, it's still there, and the task is still running. When I update the clients with the Software Update from apple menu, it takes usually 10 minutes max to complete the whole process, download and install. After I restarted the same client and ran the manual Software Update from apple menu, it shows the same updates, it didn't do anything???
Am I doing something wrong with the command?

I am having the same issue. I send the unix command to some test clients to install all updates. The process never finishes and stays at "Registering updated companents....". (See screen shot)
I have manually restarted some of the clients after waiting a very long time. All updates seem to have been installed. I am wondering why the task hangs at this point. I want to be able to ran ASU with this Unix method on the 450+ macs that I manage at work, but it scares me that the task never seems to finish.

  • Profit center report with old currency exchange rate

    Dear All,
I have a requirement in PCA reporting. We have maintained exchange rate as 1.86 Egyptian pound to 1 Saudi Rriyal from 01.01.2001 to 31.03.2014. Also, from 01.04.2014 onwards the exchange rate is 1.90 EGP to 1 SAR. When we run PCC report on 05.04.2014 it is picking that day rate as 1.90 and showing the same in PCA report.
But now, my client wants the exchange rate to be calculated with old price 1.86 in the report. Is there any way to pick old exchange rate in PCA reporting?
    BR, Srinivas Salpala

    Hi Srinu
RPC0 applies to CC reports and not PCA reports
I am surprised by your statement that Summary reports derive values based on Current Fx rate
GLPCA and GLPCT are the tables that are used in line item and Summary reports.. check the value in GLPCT and do they match with GLPCA or not
I am still not convinced about your issue.. Why do you need currency conversion in report?
Assume your comp code curr is USD and Cont Area curr is EUR.. You will be able to see all reports in both currencies without any conversion required during report execution. This is because all the transactions are recorded in these two currencies
Ensure that the All Currencies indicator is turned ON for your contr area

  • COPA document generated with Old Plant..

    Hi Team,
Our Client has migrated from old plant code 1 to new plant code 2.
When the Internal Oder/WBS settled, two COPA documents were created. One COPA Document with Record type B (Direct postings from FI/MM) with new plant code 1 and another COPA document with Record type C (Project/order settlement) with old plant code 2.
However, I have gone through the material master, settlement rules and Internal Order/WBS to verify for the plant and it was mentioned with new plant code 2 only, And I dont see the derivation rule for the plant also.,
Why the COPA document is been created with old plant code instead of new plant. And this issue we are facing with only for Order/WBS settlement for the record type C.
Please let me know your inputs
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi All,
To Answer my question above, The COPA Realignment wasn't done after changes to new plants. Whenver the changes has been made at controlling orgn level, the realignment needs to do.
    Closing this thread..

  • Addons - new versions of addon with old versions of B1

    Hi guys,
Does anyone know if new versions of addons work with old versions of SAP B1?
I have a client who is asking for the latest Payment Engine (PL70) but they are on SAPB1 2005A SP01 PL12 which has the Payment Engine PL30.
My thinking is that you will need to upgrade the B1 app to PL34, if you want to use the latest addon?
or am i way out and infact the addons work independently of B1 and will therefore work on an old patch of B1?
    TIA,
    John Treweeks

    Hi John,
Patches are bug fixes and do not change functionality (unless the functionality was broken of course ). Addons communicate through the UI and DI APIs which are installed as part of the patch. Therefore, the theory should be that addons are pretty much patch independent.
But, as has been pointed out above, it's really difficult to predict exactly what results you'll get. I guess sometimes an addon patch could have been released in order to correct a problem that was both addon and DI API related. In that case, you'd need to install the addon patch and the SBO patch.
I never recommend you go to the latest patch until it has been around for a few weeks. However, going to a patch that is dated just prior to the addon patch release sounds like a sensible policy. In any case, testing is vital, prior to installation on a production site.
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Old client - new web service

    Hi,
i try to migrate our old web services from axis 1.2 to a jboss web service under jbossws - native with jaxws.
the client send a string to the web service and the return value is also a string.
the old web service is rpc/encoded and the client was generated bei the axis tools.
with a few changes i can use my old client to the new web service.
but i didnt understand why i can use a rpc/encoded client to a jaxws web service using doc/lit.
    so my questions are :
    a) why is a jaxws web service able to read an soap-request with rpc/encoded? i thougth it is forbidden by the ws-i
    b) i also hear there could be interoperability problems with rpc/encoded. why it don´t affect my web service?
we have a lot of serviceuser so it would be good if they can use their old clients.
    best regards
    Chris

Their old web service exposed the WSDL through a .asmx file.  The new web service exposes the WSDL though a .svc file.
That would mean that the older service was written using ASP.net web services and the newer one was written using WCF.
That's ok to me, I wanted to move up to the .NET SOAP engine anyway.
That's still likely to be a problem.  That's because the .Net SOAP engine that Classic uses is base on ASP.Net.  WCF implements a lot of web services standards that ASP.Net doesn't know how to handle.  Your best bet for consuming a WCF web service would be the WCF client in PB.Net.
Problem #2: The .NET SOAP engine seems to have a problem passing some array data.
You might try upgrading to 12.5.2  There have been continuous improvements to the .Net SOAP engine since it was first introduced.

  • After migration from sccm 2007, there are many systems with no client installed

    Hi Everyone,
We have migrated our environment from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 , And Manual client push installation has been done by HeadQuarter SCCM admins on site code of our region.
But as i see , in all systems collection based on OU, there are approx 50% systems with no client installed.
There may be some stale systems in AD.
Is there any way so that i can list out all Stale or old computers which are not in use anymore records of systems from Active directory and so that i move them to OU for which system discovery is not enabled.
Also, it will very useful if i get more information on lastLogonTimeStamp and such more properties which specifies system as stale or OFF the network for some period..

You could also remove the objects without a client and adjust the settings in the
Options tab of the Active Directory System Discovery Properties. By tweaking those options you can make sure that you're not discovering those old objects in the first place.

  • Upgrade the app with new client ID

    Hi,
I have registered ClientID from my site and used same client id while creating package for SharePoint provided host app. For some reasons my client got deleted from azure.
My app contains some azure service related calls.
Command I have executed to get the app principal id:
    Connect-MsolService
    get-MsolServicePrincipal
    -AppPrincipalId
    '<my client id>'
    Error:
get-MsolServicePrincipal : Service principal was not found.
    At line:2 char:1
    + get-MsolServicePrincipal -AppPrincipalId '<my client id>'
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : OperationStopped: (:) [Get-MsolServicePrincipal], MicrosoftOnlineException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.Online.Administration.Automation.ServicePrincipalNotFoundException,Microsoft.Online.Administration.Automation.GetServicePrincipa
       l
Still I can able to view my id details from below site:
    https://mysite/_layouts/15/APPPRincipals.aspx
Later I have registered with new client id and used the same in while upgrading
    the app.
Still the service related pages are pointing to old IDs.
Can't we change the app client ID while upgrading the app?
    Thanks,
    Surya

    - Go to Settings>Store and make sure are signed into your account. Then try to update your app. Make sure you update only your app, not update all.
    - To update the other app you will have to sign into that account.
    - If there are apps that need updating that were purchased form more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased by one account.

  • Old clients won't switch from Self-Signed Certs to PKI.

    Greetings.
I am wondering if anyone can give me advise on problem I am having with some of my sccm clients.
When I originally deployed SCCM i used self signed certs on clients.
We needed to add MAC and Linux support and MAC clients won't work without PKI, so I following this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682023.aspx to configure Certificate Authority.
It all seemed work well, I can now join MAC client with auto-enroll and all machines are requesting client certificates and I had couple of machine with new push on windows site installed with PKI.
So right now I have about 250 windows clients, only 22 of them use PKI and the rest keeps using self-signed certs.
I foolishly switched main site settings, MP settings and DP point settings to use https only.
As a result I lost all self-signed clients and have full log for mpcontrol saying that it's rejecting clients cause they certificate cannot be validated.
I logged in to couple of those machines and MMC i can see that it did enroll machine with valid Client Cert but Configuration Manager client itself still saying that it's using self signed one.
Am I missing a step that I need to do to make sure that all those clients switch to PKI?

It is. but how can i redeploy them?
I was under impression auto push won't reinstall them. If i do deployment - that seem to reuse existing configuration and still use self signed on old machines.
How can i verify that it does push clients to machine that already have it correctly and start using new config and not reuse old one.
I even tried removing clients from couple of machines and see if it gets pushed again on them with proper config and those machines don't seem to get client but used to get it fine before. I keep getting new machines being added to domain and they get client
pushed to them, but anything that had client with self signed doesn't seem to be happy.
