MEMO Datatype

How to export the output of an sql query to a flat file or an Excel file , in which one of the column's datatype is MEMO.

Oracle does not have a "memo" data type. Is that a user-defined type?

  • How to use memo datatype in msaccess in the labview 7.1

    dear all
i want to save 801 data values in one cell of the field of a ms access .but the option are OLE here i can't see the data values only long binary information is displayed & also while reading i can't read too.its giving invalid data type.
the orther option is memo which has a limitation of 64k character that would serve the purpose but  i want to know how to write to the database & then again read from the database

    Hi,
The recommended way to access MS Access or any database is to use the Database Connectivity Toolkit. The toolkit is recommended because it is fast and very easy to use. Here ia a tutorial note about it.
If you don't have the Database Connectivity Toolkit, you can use ActiveX to access it by using Automation Open. This can be found by going to function palette >> Connectivity >> Automation Open. Once you
have that on your block diagram, right click on it highlight select
class, choose ActiveX, select browse. On the drop down menu, select either Microsoft ADO (ActiveX Data Object) or Microsoft DAO (Data Access Object). Both of them can be used to access the database. Once all that is set up, right click on the automation reference input and create a control.
There are examples that ship with LabVIEW called Retrieving Data from Access and Sending Data to Access. Both these examples use DDE and not ActiveX.
There is an example on this discussion forum that uses ActiveX to access the database.
I also found a number of other examples scattered through the discussion forums. I recommded that you search through them as well.

  • What is the equivalent Oracle datatype for the access Memo type?

    Hi,
I would like to know what the oracle equivalent of the Access Memo datatype is.
    Thanks
    Adam

    Yep. Look at this example:
    SQL>create table x(y clob);
    Table created.
    SQL>insert into x values (
2  'This is a very long string
3  and that was an carriage return - entered in notepad'
      4  )
      5  /
    1 row created.
    SQL>select * from x;
    Y
This is a very long string
and that was an carriage return - entered in notepad
    SQL>

  • Conversion problems with Memo field in Access database

I have the latest version of Migration Workbench and the Access 2000 plug-in.
I am using an ODBC driver, and the SQL conversion requirements for converting
to a native driver seem too time and labor intensive to be feasable.
My problem is that I have some "Memo" columns in my Access database containing
over 200,000 rows that I need converted to Oracle. This is something I'm going
to need to do over-and-over again for different Access databases.
I gave up on mapping the Access "Memo" datatypes to Oracle "Clob" datatypes. It
was either taking forever or taking WAY too long.
Then I tried mapping the Access "Memo" datatypes to "Varchar2(4000)" and although
it completed it took longer than my customer will like (think 1/2 an hour just for
all the rows of one memo column in one table).
Finally I tried going into the original Access database and converting the "Memo"
column into a "Text" column. It wouldn't work, I kept getting the error:
    =====
Microsoft Access can't change the data type.
There isn't enough disk space or memory.
    =====
even though I had over 10GB of free disk space and only 1/3 of my memory was being
used. I assume this is a memory-max limitation in Access 2000.
Any suggestions for speeding the conversion? Could I stagger using Migration workbench
to create the tables. . .then use SQL*Loader to load the data. . .then use Migration
workbench again to put in the idexes, etc? Would this be faster even if it worked?

  • Converting MS Access datatype to Oracle datatype

To convert a memo datatype in MS Access into Oracle, you use a Long datatype. The problem is this one Access table hold multiple memo dataype and Oracle only allows 1 long datatype per table. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

You should use CLOBs instead. You can have multiple
CLOBs per table.Further the number of LOB columns per table is limited only by the maximum number of columns per table.

  • Data type memo in access - help pweesseee...

i know access is stone age but i can't migrate db for apparent reason.
just how can i read memo datatype in access null is being being return
    when using rs.getstring("memofield");
is there a other way? or how can i update my driver? or i search the forums about memo datafield it said by using byte or ascii but i don't know how.
some help be greatly appreciated. thanx!

I presume you are accessing it over JDBC-ODBC?
There are a few pitfalls I remember
1 - the memo field must always be the LAST thing you select in a query
2 - it often won't work if your query has a join in it.
Try just a query to "select memoField from myTable where id = ?" and see if it retrieves it that way.

  • Cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types.

I'm trying to copy the data from 21 tables in a SQL 2005 database to a MS Access database using SSIS. Before converting the SQL database from 2000 to 2005 we had this process set up as a DTS package that ran every month for years with no problem.  The only way I can get it to work now is to delete all of the tables from the Access DB and have SSIS create new tables each time. But when I try to create an SSIS package using the SSIS Import and Export Wizard to copy the SQL 2005 data to the same tables that SSIS itself created in Access I get the "cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types" error message. The first few columns I hit this problem on were created by SSIS as the Memo datatype in Access and when I changed them to Text in Access they started to work. The column I'm stuck on now is defined as Text in the SQL 2005 DB and in Access, but it still gives me the "cannot convert" error.

I was getting same error while tranfering data from SQL 2005 to Excel , but using following method i was able to tranfer data. Hopefully it may also help you.
    1) Using Data Conversion transformation
data types you need to select is DT_WSTR (unicode in terms of SQL: 2005)
    2) derived coloumn transformation
expression you need to use is :
(DT_WSTR, 20) (note : 20 can be replace by your character size)
    Note:
Above teo method create replica of your esting coloumn (default name will be copy of <coloumn name>).
while mapping data do not map actual coloumn to the destination but select the coloumn that were created by any of above data transformer (replicated coloumn).

  • HS generic and long datatypes in Oracle 8i

I have a problem importing LONG datatype columns
from Hyperion Pillar to Oracle (version 8.1.6.0.0) using
the (Hyperion supplied) ODBC driver and generic HS.
The error message I get is
    ORA-03001: unimplemented feature
    ORA-02063: preceding line from PILLAR.WORLD
From the message it seems clear that Oracle cannot
deal with longs using generic connectivity (at least
    in v. 8.1.6).
    My questions:
    1) Is there a workaround ?
    2) Does this work in 9i ?
    Notes:
    1) The problem is not with the ODBC driver, as I
can see the long datatype columns using another
tool which connects to Pillar via ODBC.
    2) HS has been set up correctly because all datatypes
other than long can be viewed in Oracle without any
    problems.
    3) Operating System: Windows NT 4.00.1381
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Kailash.

    Thanks for the reply.
Pillar LONGS (or MEMO, as they are referred to in Pillar)
map to ODBC SQL_LONGVARCHAR. So it appears that the
mapping is OK, and that SELECTing from these columns
should be possible via generic connectivity.
Any other ideas on what may be wrong? Any help is
    much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kailash.

  • DTS Import of MDB in SQL Server 2000 Drops Memo Field Data

I have used DTS in SQL Server 2000 to import an MDB filed (MS ACCESS) of a table.  When the table is imported the primary key is lost and the memo field data is completely gone.
I use the tranformation option in the DTS wizard to add the primary key and make sure the data type for the memo field is varchar and has a size of 8000.  I need that large size since I am storing lots of html code.
When I preview the data I see the html code that is supposed to get imported.  However, when I return all rows from the table in Enterprise Manager the field is empty.
So I tried to manually copy the data from the MS Access Database into SQL Server.  Could not figure out if SQL Server has an interface like MS Access to simply copy data into a table.  So I linked to the tables from MS Access to the SQL Server table.
When I opened the linked table I see the data in the description field.  However, if I return the rows from within SQL Server no data is present.
I have some ASP code trying to read the data in the SQL Server table.  However, nothing is returned and when I run the SQL Statement, nothing gets returned.  The SQL statement returns all rows.  All the other data is present but nothing in the description field.
What am I doing wrong?  Any suggestions anyone, please!
    TIA

It is important to know the version of MS Access. I will recomend you to use nvarchar datatype instead of varchar. May be the description field contain unicode characters.
Refer this link to understand more on datatype mapping between access source and sql server destionation.

  • Data Typ "Memo"

    Hello,
i use Excel as database, a few Fields are declared as "Text" (with more than 256 Characters)
By opening my data sheet, all of these fields are from the Typ "String", so that i obtain an internal error
    ("try to decrease your datavolume").
Does anyone know, why i don´t get the dataTyp "Memo". (or better how i get this typ)
Is there an alternative to get along with this problems.
    I use CR 2008.
    Thanks...

Please note that In Crystal Reports (CR), a report is created using the Microsoft Excel Add-In. In Excel, some cells in a column may have more than 255 characters so CR should see this column as a memo field. However, when the report is created in CR, this column appears as a string field.
Crystal Reports sees this column as a string field because the cell in the second row of this column has less than 255 characters.
In Excel, the first row of a column will be the field title in CR. The second row, where the data begins, determines what the value type of the field will be. If this second row has 255 characters or less, it will be a string field in CR. If subsequent rows in this column have more than 255 characters they will also be considered string fields and therefore truncated at 255 characters in CR.
A probable  work around for this, in Excel, move a cell with more than 255 characters into the second row of the column. CR will now see this column as a memo field.

  • IPhone 5S Voice Memos

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem with the voice memos.
I am using an iPhone 5S -> iOS7, back up from iPhone 4S (the voice memos were recorded in iPhone 4S).
Previously, my iPhone 4S had the same problem too.
The voice memos can't be found in the iPhone VoiceMemo app, but it can be seen from iTunes > On this iPhone > Voice Memos playlist.
The memos are greyed out in iTunes, but can be played.
Also, the checkbox in iTunes > Music > Include Voice Memos is unchecked.
Someone please teach me how to remove all the voice memos in my iPhone 5S and also from the iTunes.
    Thanks.

and also why do my voice memos show up in my music - only in itunes not on iphone

  • Credit memo generate in case of free goods

    Dear Friends
one material price is rs450/- and with 5+1 when customer place order 5 pc that time system delivery 6 bec 1 is free. when customer return 1pc then what will be the credit memo pricing for each material.
    Thanking you
    Arun

    Dear Friends
I am just clearly adding question with exact requirement.
material per pc 450/- and scheme is 5+1
order qty 5   Price is 450*5=2250
    dlv qty 6
now client generate credit memo request for one pc in sap it is coming Rs450/- pc
but client requrement is not this
2250/6=Rs. 375/- that mean they will give rs 375/- per pc not Rs 450/- per pc. for that what should i do customisation for credit memo request pricing.

You can email it to yourself by opening the conversation, tap Edit, tap the voice memo, tap Forward, choose your email address from your contact.  You can open this on your computer and the attachment should play in Quicktime.
